4. Target audience for this magazine would be young adults
and above who are interested in music because its has
such a mature simple layout and doesnât have all sorts of
colour everywhere with subheadings all over the place, I
think people would find it more appealing especially if they
like the main feature for example fans of the 1975 would
want to buy this because it features their favourite artist on
the cover and comes with an interview and images, for
gender id say both male and female because music is for
everyone it also includes fashion, news, film and reviews,
so it can draw the interest of all different types of people
because it has more than one subject included in the
magazine. Text used on the front cover is very bold and plain because the front cover is so simple with the layout the writing still
stands out, the anchorage in this image is the bands name being in large text and in a sort of 3D effect, if you are familiar with the
magazine you cant miss the magazines title, they also list what is going to be featured in the magazine is small white text overlapping
the image, isn't the easiest thing to read so it doesnât take away from the main feature in the magazine which is The 1975, the front of
the magazine uses informal text with simple lines or just single words and short sentences there isn't much detail on the front cover
unlike other gossip magazines. All font is white and bold so it all matches the only difference in font is the artists name which I think
is done on purpose so it stands out just in case people donât recognise the person on the cover. The inside of the magazine is
different all text is black and many fonts are used the basic article part is in small font to start them is a large W which is in bold which
is called a drop cap they also have again the artists name in bold text, above that is a large white blank space they leave it quite
simple, they use informal and formal some parts is in the interview style where they use quotes from Matt Healy himself and then
other parts it talks about their success and achievements and states facts etc. Colour there isn't much colour used on the cover or
inside is has such a simple layout they used greys, whites and black, the word clash can sort of relate to the clash of instruments
hence it being a music magazine or you could even relate it to the reviews inside the clash of two opinions either one but mostly it
being related to music, the words they have running across the top of the inside is âbound to win bound to be trueâ this is obviously
relating to the artist they have featured this is something positive for fans or readers to look at this could be seen as a connotation.
Design & Layout primary optical area is where the magazine title start itâs the first thing you see when you look at the magazine
which is the most important then across to the strong fallow area is the ending of the title and a list of thing included in the magazine
when you look down to the weak fallow area it has nothing but when you look across to the terminal area it has the name of the
featured artist and the barcode and price of the magazine, if you follow the axis of orientation you see the main image of the artist
which is the main reason most people would buy this magazine. Genre codes and conventions the genre of this magazine is music
but also includes other things so you could say itâs a mix, the style is simple it doesnât use much colour or to many different fonts it
has a certain layout having the text all at the bottom of the page instead of starting at the top like text would normally, they leave a lot
of empty spaces, anchorage is the things featured in the magazine like celebrities and what news stories they talk about, also what
brands they talk about in the fashion section everything together can be part of the anchorage not just the featured artist.

5. EMPIRE MAGAZINE - Target audience can be teens up to adults because
film can interest any age, there are so many different
genre of film and different age ranges it can appeal
to anyone, also people who like to watch films and
read reviews or interviews with the actors/actresses
who star in these films. This can also attract people
who like whoâs on the cover or what film is featured
on the cover for example this chosen magazine
would appeal to fans of captain America or fans of
marvel movies, in terms of gender male and female
could buy this, even with my chosen cover male and
female could still buy this it depends if you like the
film advertised on the front.
Text used is all capital letters and in bold the text for the title its white bold and in capitals making it hard to miss in faint writing above
that is has the words âmagazine of the yearâ. The text in the centre in bold white capital letters is the name of the film/person whoâs
the main feature this issue, other text is rather in yellow or white this makes it stand out against the main image on the cover, also
they list the other things which will be featured in the magazine along the side in white and yellow text all together the text is pretty
much the main thing on the front cover, inside for the double page again they use yellow and white bold text for the subheadings all
the main text in columns is black they also use a drop cap to start it off the text is informal it is set as a interview style using quotes
from the person they have interviewed, the anchorage used it the quite which has been taken from the text and enlarged and put
over the image so itâs the first thing you see and reading the quote would make you want to read the full interview to find out why they
said this. There are lots of Colours used on the front cover because its all about Captain America the background has a huge
American flag which are the blues and reds then again on Captain Americas uniform its the same, then the yellow and whites are
used so they stand out against the background if they were black you wouldnât be able to see it, using white means you can see it
straight away. Design & layout in the primary optical area is where the magazine title starts, its important that you see the magazine
name so you know which one it is, it then goes across to the strong fallow area which is the end of the title and also a list of things
that also feature in the magazine then as you look down to the weak fallow area which tells you about a 32 page si-fi special which is
inside the magazine it also gives details and a small picture of the front, then across to the terminal area which has the barcode and
the rest of the si-fi magazine information, when you look at the axis of orientation you see the centre words like Captain America
which is important because you want it to stand out and putting it in the middle helps you achieve that. Genre codes and
convention the genre of the magazine is film so movie reviews and ratings you can also see clearly that itâs a film magazine which
the writing on the front and that each cover has a film character featuring, the style of the magazine is very colourful there's lots of
colour used on this front cover because of the American flag and Captain Americas outfit the double page spread is not as colourful
but has the image as the main feature they have also set it so you see the image first and read the pull quote which then leads you to
read the text, the anchorage in the double page spread is the quote plastered across the image and on the front cover itâs the person
they have used to feature including his name in white bold text its going to be the first thing you see when you look at the magazine.
