Introduction:
Get your note pad and pen this is all you need to know about the band on the rise, Ink the
quirky duo known personally as Ryan and Emily born in their hometown of Manchester are
storming the charts with their new single Dive, they are known for their vocals and beats and
the slight 80ās vibe. The pair met back in high school where they found their love for music,
they both went on to study music in college which then lead to a small gig in their home town
where they received phenomenal support from locals, with this boost of confidence they
branched out to support small bands in Manchester where they were spotted, they were then
signed and began their journey to stardom. Since then everything has happened so fast their
popularity has got bigger and bigger and are now set to release their debut album self-titled
INK in the next following months, also Tour dates were announced last week for the UK so
get ready to purchase those tickets!
We sat down with the two at their tour rehearsals to found out more.
How you taking all this?
Ryan: Itās quite scary actually it still hasnāt sunk in sometimes I wake up and I completely
forget its surreal.
Emily: I donāt think Iāll ever get used to it, I mean itās not something that happens to the
average student.
Ink who came up with the name?
Emily: I have to say it was me, to me ink sort of meant writing and creativity I feel like thatās
the sort of thing we want associated with our band.
Ryan: As soon as she said it I loved it.
Has writing always been a thing you enjoyed?
Ryan: I like telling a story so expressing that through music seemed like an enjoyable way to
spend my time.
Emily: Couldnāt think of anything better!
So do you think writing is an important thing for an artist to do?
Emily: Donāt get me wrong writing gives individuality to artists but I love all types of music as
long as I enjoy it, I donāt mind.
Ryan: I donāt mind as long as itās a good song.
Are you looking forward to your UK tour?
Ryan: Yes! Itās sold out Iām so excited to get the crowd singing along thatās always my
favourite part of a concert.
2. Emily: Seeing everyone in the audience knowing they have took time out of their day to see
us preform is insane.
Itās good to see that you are both really focused do you ever feel like It gets too
much?
Emily: I mean yeah of course we have just started out but being focused to me is important
we want to create good quality music, the sound is definitely top priority we want to best for
our fans.
Ryan: We are focused we need to be but we still have a good time and have fun making
memoires along the way is a must.
How are you parents taking it?
Ryan: My mum gets emotional seeing me on TV and hearing my name sheās proud and Iāve
always wanted to give back, itās hard not seeing my family Iāve gone nearly as long as two
months itās hard for them and me.
Emily: They are so proud thatās so important to me I want to make them happy and seeing
my family happy is all I need.
All of us at PRIME magazine want to wish you the best of luck with everything and
come visit us again when youāre not super busy!
Emily: We will and thank you so much means a lot.
Ryan: Thank you!
Review:
āThis place is insaneā INK shouts out to the crowd, We spent our evening watching INK blow
the roof off Manchester Apollo the mix of beats and acoustic were enough to get the crowd
going, their most popular song āDiveā sent the audience into a craze, the look on Ryan and
Emilyās faces were unforgettable as the audience screamed the lyrics back.
They also sang a cover of The 1975ās Settle down with a massive twist, they added their
familiar beats and switched up the vocals made it their own.
The popular pair where nonstop dancing and singing, the interaction with the crowd was a
lovely thing to experience, they constantly thanked and praised the audience, when āOpenā
began to play the audience fell silent Emily opened the song with her calming voice the
crowd stayed quiet listening to Ryan and Emily harmonise the acoustic guitar echoed filling
the venue with sound when the song came to an end the fans erupted into a frenzy
screaming and chanting their names.
The party filled atmosphere returned as they closed the show with a new song āLong nightā
the lights flashed and the audience bounced along everyone with a smile on their face.
