ICON: the name Ivy Quinn has become quite a householdname,how did you come up with this
stage name?
Ivy: well whenIwasincollege,Iwastiredquite abitfrom all the earlystarts soeveryone use tosay
that my morningface was quite ‘poisonous’,a bitof a deathstare,so I wasnicknamedIvybecause
of poisonivy,andthe Quinnpartis mylast name.
ICON: so,college has influencedyourstage name and music quite a lot?
Ivy:yeah,itwas where Ifirstgot introducedtoall the differentstylesof musicandthe variousways
it can be created.College isagreatplace for influence because everything’ssoraw andso new that
youcan adjustinyour ownway to fitin.
ICON: You’ve done a lot of collaborations,Nicki Minaj,Drake, The 1975, quite a fewHollywood
names,is there anymore collabs you could tell us about?
Ivy:well Icouldn’ttell younamesspecifically,butIhave beeninthe studioquite alotrecently
writingandrecordinga fewsongswithsome artistsinmind,butthere are a few songswon’tgo out
of style.
ICON: speakingof Hollywoodnames, there is a rumoured romance betweenyouand Zac Efron,
can we hope for thisto be true?
Ivy:Hahahah, we’ve beenfriendsforawhile,we actuallymetatone of Rihanna’sparty’slastyear,
where Iwas DJ’ingandI rememberwe hada 2 hourlongconversationaboutHighSchool Musical
and howwe wouldworktogetherinremixingsome of those songs.
ICON: so isthere a romance in the works?
Ivy:hahaa, I wouldn’tsaythere is. Ourrelationshipissortof like abrother/sisterone,we gotoeach
otherfor advice,hangouttogetherbutno romance, we’re justtoogoodof friendstogothat far.

Ivy:my mumlikesmywork,as longas itsnot too crazy withfastrappingand heavybeats,my
brotherlikesitonlywhenIworkwithhisfavourite artistsbecause he getstomeetthemandmy
sisterlikesitbecause Icanmake music thatappealsto her,I thinkoverall myfamilyare proudof me
because whenIgo awayworking,itgetsme out of the house sotheyhave more room ahaha.

Ivy:well ive gotmyalbumcomingout ina couple of months,that still needsworkon, ive gota
couple of photoshootsforthe albumandmy website andme andmyteam are currentlyplanninga
worldtour witha couple of my well knownfriends.
ICON: so,Ivy Quinn,who’s your icon?
Ivy:ooohh,well idsay myfamilyare iconicto me because they’ve alwaysbeenhonestaboutmy
decisions,butmymusical iconsare quite oldschool,Ilike OtisRedding,SamCooke,the R&B,soul
icons.My iconsare quite difference frommypersonal musicstyle butIlike tomix the two,thenit
appealstoeveryone.
Last week,Iattendedone of IvyQuinn’sDJsetsat Ritz,Manchester,to see whatall the fusswas
about. Ivyplayedhermostpopularsongsfrom herfirstEP, ‘whenthe worldends’suchas,‘the beat
neverstops’,‘inmyarms’and ‘until yougo’. The atmosphere was electric;the floorwasflooded
withpeople of all agesbouncingintime tothe beat.The bass of the beatfromthe speakersshook
everyone’sdrink causingeveryonetodownthemandthrow the emptycupsintothe air as a signof
enjoyment.Ivy’s more thanaDj, she’san entertainerasshe encouragedthe crowdto singalong as
herspecial guests,suchas JessGlynne joinedheronstage.There wereafew familiarfacesinthe
crowd,from fellow DJ’stoactorsto her ownfamily.Everywhere Ivy plays,she istakeninwithopen
arms by heradmirers.
