1. Experiments

2. Process
First I drew a Sovereign Class Reaper which are the most
common reaper to find, next to Reaper destroyers. It was
only a basic line sketch. But I then coloured it in, I did two
experiments with different colour pallets to experiment with
the reaper colours from mass effect 2 and 3. I Then drew
another reaper flying while firing its laser as a line drawing
to experiment with creating a laser effect through Gaussian
Blur’s.
Advantages of testing out colours and effects help improve
them and decide which ones look best. Colouring it in also
helps imagine how it will look
Disadvantage of this is that it takes time to do so many
experiments

3. Process
Then I drew Harbinger mass effect 3 style as a line sketch. I
Experimented with his eyes with 4 Light Effects with a white light
in the middle. Giving the effect of glowing eyes in space. I then
drew Harbinger in Mass Effect 2 Style, giving more detail to it.
The advantages of doing quick line sketches is that it takes less
time than a full drawing,

4. Process
I then went forwards and started drawing my
final experiment, using my predrawn sketches
from my earlier experiments and then drawing
out Harbinger. This drawing imitates the
ending of mass effect 2 showing the reapers
looking over the milky way, the change is that
the reapers are sovereign class where before
they were all random types, which never
appeared again after the mass effect 2 ending,
even harbinger was redesigned to look more
like Sovereign. I then did changed the
background colour with the glowing eyes
effect to see how it would look if it was in
space. once I had 1 sovereign class I copied
and pasted it a bunch of times.
Copying what I already have done allows me to
cut time so I don’t have to draw every single
one

5. Process
Here I edited the drawings in photoshop,
adding the mass effect logo and the slogan
“The Reapers Are Coming” I messed
around with the size and fonts a bit, I finally
settled with a smaller logo and a different
less bold font.
3D fonts allow it to look more fancy with
shading, and the red allows it to stand out
from the black and purple
Disadvantage is that the shading blends in
with the black backgrounds
It had a logo and a slogan like other game
posters, and it has a center of focus where
you focus on the center, then the slogan
then the logo in that order

6. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– Im planning on including a slogan and a logo on
my poster, both will be 3D using photoshop
– I will also draw my designs on my ipad like I did
these
