2. Process
For this piece I used an existing image for the abandoned mineshaft, changed it into 8-bit and added a few
other features of my own. The creepy face in the background was of my own doing, by simply using the
brush, pencil and dodge tool I was able too first add in the face and then enhance the lighting of the
piercing red eyes for eerie effect. Secondly I included the blood splatter on the floor and lowered its
opacity, as to imply its dry and has been there for a while, from some violent past event. Then I added the
vivid sign, as to ward off future intruders from going any further into the darkness. I increased the signs
brightness using the dodge tool, as to imply that the light from the hanging lamp is refracting off of the sign
which also in turn makes it a more clear image for the viewer. Finally I tweaked the entirety of the image as
to decrease the overall vibrancy (other than the sign) which gives the whole scene a creepy effect.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
I shall most likely import images from the internet as I have done for this
piece and by using Photoshop, edit them all to fit my specification whether
that be through the use of lighting, shading etc. On the other hand I am also
inclined to try and create unique images as I have done for the face and blood
splatter using tools such as the pencil and paint brush, as to make the piece
more so my own work, rather than to just use existing images and edit them.
