How does your media product represent particular social groups?
In my product I have represented the social group of indie alternative males and females
aged 16-24. I have shown this in a variety of ways in my magazine such as language,
imagery and general visual. The young indie alternatives is a group of young people who
don’t follow the norm and stay away from being “mainstream” members share an
inquisitiveness for everything Alternative – from Grunge to Hardcore. They often experiment
with art and fashion and music and are often happy to get stuck in with all types of media
from reading magazines, streaming on Netflix and checking out the newest music on spotify.
Individuality is key for the indie alternatives and they often experiment with fashion that will
make them stand out from the crowd which my magazine will help with. They listen to a wide
range of music from heritage bands like The Smiths, Popular bands such as Arctic Monkeys
and even the occasional urban sounds like A$AP Rocky, My magazine will cater to all types
of music ranging from this making it appealing towards this young group.

My mood boards represent the stereotypical indie alternative male and females by showing
all the stereotypical stuff they will like. In my magazine I have followed the stereotypes of
what these people will like. I have specifically used models on my magazine that will appeal
to the readers and have also used the indie genre of music that these people will like so they
would be more inclined to buy my magazine.
