Personal Narrative-Attic Analysis
"Everyone has a problem with themselves, and no–one can ever be perfect." My dad tells me.
Everyone has self–doubt or some other problem at one time or another, whether it be emotional
problems or family problems, otherwise known as external and internal problems. I've had both. My
parent's divorce, self–doubt, and anger issues that followed are my example. I wanted it all to
change because I felt like being a caged animal. I couldn't escape my complications and it felt as if
everything was making my cage smaller and eventually, I'd have to break out. That animal was my
anger, self–doubt and any other problem, seething constantly, wanting to be unleashed. I needed to
find a way to control my anger, my self–doubt, and my life. First, I'll tell ... Show more content on

I continued to retaliate. "I want to succeed! I want my dreams to come true! I will do what I want,
even if someone says I can't, all because I can. But, I cannot wait around, asking and wishing,
hoping that change will come, NO! I am going to work hard, I'm going to stand up to my obstacles,
and any other thing threatening my path. I will do anything I can, in order to achieve and be a better
person!" Then, my self–doubt went down, and my anger became at bay. It felt like the world had
opened up. I realized that if I would've taken responsibility for myself, I wouldn't have been this
way. Life is all about being responsible and ready to undertake your actions. I just needed to figure
out how to become proactive, and I realized how much I could gain in life. I just needed someone,
such as my dad to trust and tell me his stories and what he has learned about life, and most of all, I
needed to stand up to myself. This is all how I changed myself and became who I am. To this day,
even if that self–doubt comes back, or my anger rises, I find something to do, and just think about
how my future can and will be. No matter how hard life gets, I won't give up. It's all because I'm
actually doing something about my life, and not just waiting for it to change. I want to be a role
model for people and my future family, because if anyone goes through the same things as me, I can
help, so that they may endure in the

Personal Happiness Essay
To gain happiness, people believe that they should have to change everything about themselves.
Meanwhile, when they change themselves they would eventually go back to their old habits. It's
imperative that you're happy with yourself and have determination to change for the better. The
wrong determination to have is to try to fix everything that has gone wrong in their lives. You would
need to plan how you're going to change the way you live. Also, plan how to bring happiness into
your life. Assuming changing my relationships with people, how I think of cognitively thinking
about things around me, and change the way I see the world. The relationship that I have with my
family has a big role in my personal happiness. However, the ... Show more content on

So, I seconded guess myself when something goes right in my life. I wish I can have things go right
in my life more often than bad things that have happened. A scientist has done a study that focuses
on how thinking negatively can affect your mental health. They found out that people with negative
attitude have higher chance to have a mental disorder (Bieda & Hirschfeld & Schönfeld &
Brailovskaia & Zhang & Margraf, 2017)
To change the way, I think I will try not to overthink everything. I will gain determination that when
things go bad in my life I will overlook it. Then think about how that situation happened for a
reason. When I start to think in a positive way, I will express positivity all around me. I must try to
not look down on myself. I also should think about think about positive things more and not have
everything bring me down. Thinking differently will help improve my happiness. The way I
cognitively think about things that happen to me impacts the way I see the world. Lately, I haven't
been seeing the good things that have happened in the world. Everything has been bad. Recently the
world has been through the Los Vegas shooting. Protesting of a cop not being guilty shooting a man.
Looking around at the world everything has been tragic. The scientist said that globally we should
focus on three things. One thing is often having pleasant moods more than not. Secondly, try and
use unpleasant mood less often. Lastly change the way you

Eric Thomas Reflection
After watching the Eric Thomas video, My initial impact was feeling a great deal of disappointment
in myself. The reason for this disappointment, was because I felt like his words were directed
towards me. There are times when you realize you fail, but you cannot bring yourself to admit that it
was your fault and your fault alone. And I tend to blame my failures on the circumstances
surrounding me, rather than my incapability in putting one hundred percent of my effort in what I
want to accomplish.
Hearing Eric Thomas speak with extensive passion, made me feel inspired and passionate about
putting one hundred percent, and even beyond that in everything I desire to accomplish. Failing to
put in all the effort you know you are capable of is a major let down, because you know you can do
better if you tried your best. You have to sum up all the effort you have, even if the outcomes may
not be as what you had expected, rather than allow yourself to live in a state ... Show more content

I will stop standing in the way of my own success, and restrain myself from holding back my full
potential. I will stop myself from being a victim of circumstances and situations, and overcome all
the obstacles I face. I will be optimistic, passionate and motivated about every single thing I do, no
matter how small it is. You only win and accomplish things if you set your mind to do so, and you
fail if you walk in with the attitude of a loser.
After watching Eric Thomas, I decided that I will take several actions in order to change my attitude
towards my goals. Starting from today, I will wake up passionate about the what I want to achieve,
set goals in my mind, and work my best to accomplish them. I will put in all my effort in everything
I do, no matter how small or easy it may seem. I will be more determined, passionate, optimistic and

Who Changed My Cheese Essay
In a world that is constantly changing and throwing more obstacles your way, you have two options
on how you handle it. You can either shy away from these challenges and let them control your life,
or you can tackle them head on and make the most out of every situation. Throughout my life, I
have had many challenges put in front of me, but instead of letting them control me, I overcome
these challenges and adapt to it's new changes. I'm no stranger to hardship and change in life. I grew
up in a middle class family, where my mother spent her days as a sub in local schools and her nights
going back to school to get her degree and my father has been laid off twice in the past two years.
Instead of panicking or resisting these challenges, I watched them adapt to the world around them,
and control the outcome. Having the opportunity to observe how they handled situations like these,
and many others, helped shape the way I cope with all the changes in life. In "Who Moved My
Cheese", it was at times difficult for me to watch Hem and his unwillingness to take action.
Especially, when Haw decided it was time to go find new cheese and Hem still stayed in Cheese
Station C. It's not easy to relate to a character like Hem. He had very materialistic tendencies and
was extremely resistant to any types of change. In his situation, being able to adapt was a legitimate
life or death choice, and it took him way too long to realize that. Hem is also a very lazy individual.

Persuasive Essay About Becoming An Adult
Responsibility
Becoming an adult is a major responsibility for most people. One that can change your life
sometimes for the good, but can also make your life hard for the time being as well. For the past few
months, I had a recent change I turned 18 and got thrown to the wolfs. I had to start taking
responsibility for myself and paying my own bills. Things in my life changed and they changed
quite fast.
Last December, I had gotten my license and bought my first car. Until graduation I would pay for
half of my car insurance. The month I turned 18 I already had a job set for me which I was very
thankful for. But while I was finishing up my last few months of high school it got very hard for me
to balance school and work and my internship for me to graduate. With me having to work almost
90 hours a month, on top of having to get 120 hours of internship work done in at the hospital on top
of all my other school work it was very draining. My Grandma gave me until graduation to save
money and she made sure I knew that she was done paying my phone bill and my car insurance.
Once I graduated things started to get easier and started to get back in to the swing of my life again.
For an 18–year–old $200 car instance bill is a big bill especially when your check isn't that much
every month, plus a $60 phone bill, and gas and whatever things I need to get around the house.
This experience became my permanent white water because I know a few months ago I would

Belonging In Brene Brown's TED Talk
Don't you ever feel the urge to run away? Tired of all the problems you have to face? Tired of
disappointing everyone because you feel like you aren't living up to their expectations? Tired of
being whom you are as a person? So tired that you simply don't just want to run away, but also
disappear? In some point in our lives, we go through this and hit rock bottom. We feel as if our
family and friends will be better off without us and they perhaps wouldn't even miss you. But let me
ask you this if you don't like something about yourself then why not change? One gloomy day I was
on my newsfeed on Instagram, giggling at some memes to drooling on some photos of Jensen
Ackles, until something caught my attention. I clicked on the photo and the first thing I saw was
blood. I saw a person lying down while another person emerges as if ripping themselves from their
own self. In that moment, I saw what would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before I thought to kill off my vulnerability was the best for me. When we look up the definition for
vulnerable it says, "Open to moral attack, criticism, temptation." But as Brene Brown said in her
TED talk: The power of vulnerability, vulnerability is also the birthplace of joy, of creativity, of
belonging, of love. Back then, I thought being emotionless was better than being a bitter child. The
things that would make me feel bitter or hurt my feelings would no longer have an affect one me.
Here's the thing, though, if I were to take my vulnerability away, I would also be taking away all my
emotions from sadness to happiness to gratitude. I would go back to looking for a purpose in my
life. I still struggle embracing my vulnerable side, but I know its part of life and what makes us
human beings. What once might have hurt me is now merely nothing, but a pebble. I get to decide
whether it's worth to agonize about it. Our vulnerability is something that makes us beautiful so I

Personal Narrative: Controlling Fate
Controlling Fate is an Enigma "I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act; but I do
believe in a fate that falls on them unless they act." (Buddha) Throughout history, there has always
seemed to be a connection between what people do, and how those things determine their worth as
people. While I have gone about living my own life, I have found a strange curiosity within figuring
out just how this relates within myself. Do I have the ability to change my fate and who I am? Or
was that predetermined already. It's interesting to think about how much and little impact we have
on every aspect of existence around us. It's interesting to think about what it means to be anything at
all. Ever since I was a little girl, I remember finding myself immersed with the world around me. It
was always exciting to take in every detail the way children have an amazing way of doing. While
the world may have seemed giant, it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I was in the fifth grade, I had the wonderful opportunity to experience what having your
parents get divorced feels like. If there is anything that makes you feel like you can't control how the
world moves and changes, is going through that. For the longest time I'd tell myself how if I could
change their minds, that for one moment I could show them they loved each other, that things would
revert back to how they once were. However, I was taught a tough lesson early on that life doesn't
agree with your intentions all of the time. That doesn't mean you give up. Life isn't meant to be easy,
that's the beauty of it. While not all your choices change things around you, the choices you make
will always change how you see things yourself. In conclusion, I believe you do have control of
what you make out of your life. You may not always be able to choose what happens from the
choices you make in life. That's what gives us all so much potential though. The unpredictability of

Five Years Ago Research Paper
There are many different changes that happened to me in the past 5 years. Such changes change the
way of how I live and what happens to my life. Changes happen as you grow up, and there are many
factors that induce changes, whether it is from daily habits, social interactions, influence from
parents, and many more. In my case, I have probably changed the most due to social influence and
the environment around me. One of my most noticeable changes I the way I think. From what I have
noticed, the me of 5 years ago has a rather more close–minded self, compared to the me of today. I
tend to do things in an impulsive manner without thinking much about what is going to do to others.
The second biggest change is probably my way of life and appearance.

Mindset For Me Research Paper
There are three fundamental rules that come to mind in certain situations and mindsets. The rules are
simple always keep your priorities in order, keep focus, and keep the right relations. This is honestly
a building block for success and happiness in my life. My personal success of being spiritually
healthy and surrounding myself with positive relationships. My mindset comes from going to yoga,
long walks, and welcoming religion into my life. Along with having family and friends that
constantly encourage me to be happy. However, for a person with high anxiety it's hard to
continuously not overwhelm myself by over thinking or putting my health and body aside. Whether
it's forgetting to eat or even lacking sleep which I know is bad for me. If there was three things I
could change about myself that related to health and wellness is to become more self– reliant, accept
my best and stop waiting for perfection. I tend to rely on other to make decisions for me or atleast
make them easier. At time I tend to look for perfection which tends to cause my overthinking

What I Exporned That I Have Learned In My Life
In my life I have learned a lot about myself; the people in it have been a huge impact on the person I
am today. People like friends and family have helped shape me into the person I have become. It can
be scary how easily someone can change you, but with the help of true friends they can bring out the
best in you. I have learned that some people can have a negative impact on your life and some
people just aren't meant to stay. I've learned that one person, if the right person, can change you for
the good.
When I first met Emily Moe I had no idea what kind of impact she would have on my life. As our
friendship has grown she has showed me more and more about my own self. She is always herself
around everyone and never changes for people. That is the first thing I have learned from her; do not
change yourself to get the attention of others. Since meeting Emily I never felt the need to be
someone else when I was around her. It took a little longer to realize that I shouldn't just be myself
around emily and certain people, but everyone. She taught me that being yourself is one of the most
important things in life. Now, because of her I will carry this lesson throughout my life. I've seen
other people act differently when around certain people and it make you wonder if they're happy
being someone else. I've been there, pretending to be someone you're not, and you might be happy
for awhile, but knowing that you're friends aren't really accepting you for you can be upsetting. I

Reflection Paper
Beginning to Understand Reviewing the idea of good fortune in one's life caused me to realize a lot
about how I want to live my life, and how I should impact others by living my life to its fullest
potential. Its opened me up more to the role of religion in my own life, causing me to realize what I
need to work on and how I need to not change. The vast majority of my life lies in front of me and
right here, right now, is where I need to focus and be present because I have been put on this earth
for a reason, but I am yet to figure out what that reason is. This is not something that worries me,
but rather inspires me because I will always know that I mean something and this sheds light into
the darkest of times. These three questions of who God is, why does one receive good fortune, and
what really is religion that have lingered about me for the vast majority of life have finally begun to
resonate with me. I do not fully understand what the role of religion in my life is right now, but I
feel that I do not need to understand what it is right now because I can already see myself growing
to make religion more prominent in my life. Now it is one thing to say that I am beginning to
understand how these questions are being evident in my life, but it is another thing to understand
how it is that I will change myself to become the fullest person that I can be. Because in my life I

What Is My Goals In The Future Essay
I have learned many things about my school and in my life as well. I'm a person who doesn't like
change at all. When I was five years old, I knew that my life was going to change. Knowing me
when I was five years old, I didn't want to go to school. I was a shy kid. I wasn't ready to leave my
mom and go to place where I was going to be by myself. When I got older, I was pretty comfortable
where I was at. But many people in the world do know that, if you get too comfortable in one place,
you wouldn't grow or change into a better person. I'm talking about in school, and in the real world.

Self Assessments: A Self Analysis
As an older individual who has had several jobs in my twenty–five years of working, I have done
several self–assessments. I have always felt they were fairly accurate in describing my personality. I
have tried over the years to use these to help myself improve and was successful at my last job as a
supervisor and using those skills to improve as a better manager. I have also learned that you cannot
change who you are, as I once had a manager tell me I needed to go to school to change myself to
be more like her so I could be successful. My relationship with this manager never worked, as I
can't change myself and she never learned how to deal with others who weren't like her. For the
most part I agree with all the assessments I took for this paper. There are some where I see elements
on both ends, but I can see where I am stronger on one end and can see why I fell there. On spheres
of control and locus of control I scored differently. While on sphere I scored a sixty, making me high

This is a very important because I discovered who I really am. Secondly, this activity made me
realise what kind of person I used to be. I used to be a very stubborn and active person. This made
me realise that the changes have improved in many ways (attitude), but not all changes were

this activity I learned what kind of person I am, what kind of person I was, and what kind of person

Temperament Characteristics Of Child Development
Temperament is defined as the individual behavioral style of the child, the way in which he
characteristically reacts to environmental stimuli. Temperament is distinct from the child's innate
abilities and motivation. Their are nine temperament traits; activity being the first which is based on
the level of motor component in a child's functioning, rated as regular, variable, or irregular. I would
rate myself as moderate. I prefer to be independent; I rather do a task myself so that I don't have to
watch someone else do it. I also don't like to be confined I prefer to explore the areas and things that
surround me. Rhythmicity being the second temperament trait is all about the regularity or
predictability in the timing of recurrent activities, rated as regular, variable, or irregular. Regular best
describes me because I stick to a routine everyday and if it is changed I have a very hard time
dealing with it. I eat the same thing everyday and at the same time everyday. I wake up every
morning at the same time, but I fall asleep at different times depending on what I did that day. And
lastly I have a difficult time adjusting to different time zones whenever I go away on vacation. The
Approach/Withdrawal is the third temperament it is about the nature of a child's response to a new
stimulus, rated as approach, variable, or withdrawal. Withdrawing child best fits me; it takes me
awhile to warm up to new things, I'm cautious with new people, things and places. I prefer to

Reflection On Leadership
Reflection #8 Current Vision Statement: I, Alize Markson, as a leader living and working at my
highest and best am: Open, empathetic, confident, understanding, and motivated so that I am the
most proactive person. Therefore, I am reliable and understandable to my family and friends.
Somethings up critical moment: The somethings up situation I am choosing the reflect about is how
I have been sleeping in instead of attending certain classes lately.
Attending to Judgment (Positive/ Negative judgments): The positive judgment I am having about
myself is that I am still managing to complete my homework. I also care enough to check

negative judgment I am having about myself is that I am not motivated enough and I need to be
more focused.
(Positive/ Negative assumptions): The positive assumption I am making about this situation is that it
will change and I will begin to be consistent and find motivation to attend each class. The negative
assumption I am making about myself is that I might not be fully willing to commit to changing this
bad habit.
(Expectation & Motivation): I am expecting a change to come out of this situation. The strongest
motivation factor for me are my grades. My grades have continuously been motivating me
throughout this process.
Attending to Emotion
(Positive/ Negative emotions): The positive emotions I am having in this situation is a sense of hope
that things will change. Also, I don't feel completely discouraged about the situation. The negative
emotions I am having in this situation are stress, tiredness, and exhaustion. I feel extremely tired and
don't want to get up and attend classes.
(Offering Information): These emotions are informing me that I need more sleep and that I need to
make good use out of my time. I am being informed that a sleeping schedule may be needed.
(Care & Values): I care about this critical moment situation because I am being heavily affected by
it physically and emotionally. I also care so much because this could turn into an ongoing habit

Personal Statement: Understanding Who I Am
Everyone is unique in their own way, no matter how small. Many things show who you are as an
individual. These "things" are beliefs, traditions, interests, hobbies, passions, skills, and even family.
These contribute to you as a being, if you are one, and who you are. This essay will help you
understand who I am. I as a person, have many beliefs and traditions as well as many things I want
to change about myself. I believe that I can be anything I want as long as I work hard. When I grow
older I want to be a doctor who helped many and has done something to make a difference in the art
of healing because that is important to this race we call human. Due to this belief, I value those who
work hard and dream big. I also value those who have changed the world and am interested in their
ideals and steps they took, if it was planned. If I were to change just one thing of myself it would be
to be brave enough to speak to others without worry of being turned down or embarrassed (I speak a
lot but that's mostly to cover up awkward silence). Therefore I value those who can speak their mind
without fear. As you can see my beliefs and values make a big part of who I am. Family is always a

lesson has come across in everybody's life. I know that when you make the mistakes it causes to cry

the start of my life I have always been looked down on. I think it was always for my race. This
brought me to a dark side of myself and I started to do bad things in my life. When I started to

path as a better way to live and keep peace in my life. Once I started to see many things on the

wonderful than the streets. Once I hit the streets I began to see things, hear things and, do things no

Reflection Paper
I am an element of change. As situations come and go, I have learned how to adapt myself to be in
the best position to succeed. Change is not just what drives me forward, it is what keeps me
balanced. I have developed into a person that is able to successfully go from various changes – to
mistakes – to learning and being able to move forward. Without making these critical mistakes and
experiencing the almost–facetious amount of changes, I would not have been able to become the
person I am today. Many facets of adulthood have been introduced as changes to me, some very
recently. Some of these include creativity, a competitive nature, and individuality.
Creativity was always fostered in me since I can remember. I was always asking questions about the
origins of objects and my mind would always play as to what the meaning behind what once seemed
like phenomena. This lead to me always imagining the world working in some way that even though
not true – made sense to me. As my base knowledge grew more and more, some of these creative
visions I had, had to be adjusted. For example, when I was younger, I thought time travel would be
possible if we could just act like the superhero Flash and run so fast the earth spins around. Growing
up, I learned the laws of physics and understood that while this is not possible, time travel still could
be. Now it would just be a matter of new technology that we just do not have yet so that we may
proceed to move faster than the speed of light.

My Identity Research Paper
Gautama Buddha once said that "Our thoughts are most important. All that we are is the result of
our thoughts." For most, many don't realize how powerful our thoughts are. I believe that our
thoughts do create our reality and the things in it. Being in control of one's own destiny is everyone's
wish, but everyday people let their circumstances define them and forget that they have the power to
change their world. Even I sometimes get carried away and forget that I am truly in control of my
reality. I know that because of our thoughts we create our destiny which is a reflection of our
identity. One has to truly understand who they are to make conscious choices that can positively
affect their life.

Walt Whitman's discusses the meaning of life and that it is easy to get lost and think in a negative
light. Questioning constantly about one's destiny can make someone forget their true purpose. As for
myself, I couldn't expect my life to change overnight. It was going to be a long process. As time

Bad Music Research Paper
Social media provides the world with a wealth of information. What used to be only found in
newspapers or heard on the radio, can now be accessed instantly with the touch of a button. Another
thing that is now at anyone's disposal is music. Through social media streaming sites, such as
Pandora and Spotify, all people have access to all types of music, whether it be good or bad, positive
or negative. This accessibility creates an issue that is evident in children and teens. This issue is one
that I strongly care about. It is the issue of bad music. When I say bad, I am not speaking about the
talent level of the artist but rather the content of their lyrics. Children and teens are listening to
songs that promote violence, cussing, drugs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

traditionally violent and vulgar. For this reason, many parents and grandparents are completely
against this genre. However, tap is very popular among youth and that is why it needs to change. We
cannot change what music children and teens like but we can change what the music is saying. It is
not good for a child or teen's head to be filled with the negativity, vulgarity, and violence that is
often exhibited in mainstream rap songs. I believe that music should build it's listener up through
positivity. This is where I see myself as an agent of change. When I write music, I include positive
topics and clean lyrics that are appropriate for any age. I look to make a difference with every song I
make. I seek to shift the genre of rap from being a negative influence to being a positive influence. I
see myself as an agent of change in this music epidemic that infiltrates the minds of children, teens,

any age. I strive to start a tidal wave of change in the rap industry with every song I

Stress Management Plan
1
Stress Management Plan 2 Living a stress–free life is not a reasonable goal. The goal is to deal with
life actively and effectively. I believe I have more control over myself than I believe I do. The
simple realization that I am in control of my life is the foundation of stress management. I believe
that managing stress consists of taking charge of my thoughts, emotions, schedule, and the way I
deal with problems. Stress management starts with identifying the sources of stress in my life. My
most prevalent stressors include financial, nutritional, lack of relationship and children, work,
school, daily hassles, perfectionistic, always in a hurry, and too much to do. I am going to begin

This involves changing the way I communicate and operate in my daily life. One way this can be
done is by expressing 4 my feelings instead of bottling them up. If something or someone is
bothering me, I will try to communicate my concerns in an open and respectful way. If I do not
voice my opinion and feelings, resentment will build and the situation will likely remain the same or
worsen. I should also be more assertive and deal with problems and situations head on so that I can
anticipate and prevent them. Poor time management can also cause a lot of stress, so it is vital for
me to manage my time better. When I am stretched too thin and running behind, it is difficult to stay
calm and focused. It often gives me headaches, back and neck pain, and leaves me feeling fatigued.
If I plan ahead and make sure I do not overextend myself, I can alter the amount of stress that I am
under. Because I cannot always change the stressor, I must be willing to change myself. I can adapt
to stressful situations and regain my sense of control by changing my expectations and attitude. One
way this can be done is to reframe my problems and try to view stressful situations from a more
positive perspective. For example, rather than fuming about a traffic jam, I will try to look at it as an
opportunity to pause and regroup, listen to my

they have become or want to recognize who they are. But I feel as if it is really important thing to

Drowning in a Sea of Avoidance
Drowning in a sea of avoidance, I needed to save myself from this repetitive behavior that was
tarnishing my social bonds. In the past I was afraid of rejection or criticism in everyway imaginable.
I kept myself from relationships due to my own insecurities, which stemmed from my lack of self
confidents. To confine in a person one must be wiling to show their most vulnerable side, and not
doing so made me have unhealthy relationships with the people around me. Causing me to portray a
false image of myself to escape what others thought of me. These fears and insecurities had leaded
me into a downward spiral of pushing people away.
At a point in life we all suffer from some type of psychological frailty, not everyone is capable of
finding their own way out of darkness that has been created by insecurities. The book Love's
Executioner by Irvin D Yalom, gives insight on those who dealt with conflicts that ultimately
diminished their self–esteem. "Something good happened and she felt great, one criticism from
someone and she was down for days. It was like trying to keep your house heated with a furnace
thermostat placed to close to the window" (Yalom, 221). This was a compelling piece to me because
it unmasked the exact issue of needing justification from others to feel good about myself. Having
control over something that can completely shift your sense of self is necessary to break the cycle of
a deranged notion of self–esteem. Everyone has been critiqued at one time or

I Am A College Student
With so many ways to describe who I am, I think I will start off with the basics. I am a college
student that attends Drake University. I would identify myself as hard–working, responsible, and
persistent. At the beginning of the term, I identified myself as how I felt in the moment with answers
such as tired, hungry, and bored. Yes, those were traits I identified myself within the moment, but
now I try to look far and beyond the present. I want to identify myself as someone who strives to
achieve everything she ever wanted, including graduating from college, with honors and getting
involved within the college community. I want to be able to identify with things that have meaning
and substance that I have always strived for including being determined and self–reliant. As I look
back on my journal from the first week of this class I notice how different yet the same my answers
to the question "who are you" are. In the first week, I still talked about how I identify as a hard–
working college student that strives to meet her goals. I think, still do this day I identify as that.
However, now I like to go in–depth with that question. Not only am I hard working but I am hard
working because I strive to get my homework done on time, ask questions when I am confused, and
participate in class discussions when I have something to input instead of sitting quietly like I
typically would. I think that after studying identity for a whole semester I can grasp and identify

What Makes A Friend 's Opinion?
The friends a person has can help mold that person into who they are today. Choosing who to be
around can sometimes be hard. Nobody is perfect, so being hypercritical is not something to be
when choosing your friends. Although, some people can we wonderful, lifelong friends, and some
can be a wolf in sheep's clothing. Being cautious is important when choosing friends because they
could change you, and not for the better. A friend's opinion can affect the views one has about who
they are, and it is important to stay true to oneself. I try not to let what others think about me to
affect how I see myself. I do my best to optimistic and see the brighter side of things and to see
myself in a positive light. The reason I am like this is because when I was younger I let people 's
opinions of me dictate how I saw myself. I was always worrying about what people would think.
Once, I let a single person's opinion of me control my self–identity. In middle school, there was a
girl who I thought was my best friend. We did everything together; our homework, makeup, went to
the bathroom together, got dressed together. A lot of people around me said that she wasn't a kind
friend to me, but I didn't believe them. She was my best friend, there was no way she was a bad

A: Throughout this 9 weeks, this class has helped to speed up and aid my recovery. Without this

More specifically, this class has shown me my capabilities and given me much more self

this year I have only become more free with myself and real with how I view myself, and my world

I believe that I am naturally a leader because I have the above mentioned qualities in varying

place myself in their shoes, understand them and provide a bigger picture perspective in situations

My Personal Statement On My Life
I would like to start to be kinder to others, find more time to focus on myself and who I am, and
finally, I want to be more positive and stop complaining. Throughout life, I was raised to do well in
school and that 's my main focus. I was pushed to get good grades and to forget the rest. Now that
my high school career is coming to an end I have more time for some self change. I want to spend
less time focusing on what others want and what I want. I 'm told many times I could be nicer to
others and stop complaining as much. I tend to want to do what others think is best and not what I
think is best for me. So those are just a few ways I wish to change and ways I want to improve
myself.
Throughout life I haven 't treated people the best of my ability. In school, I had a very self involved

Reflection Paper On I Am Invincible
I like to assume I am invincible, that nothing terrible will ever happen to me. It wasn't until my life
started to fall to pieces that I realized I had to try just as hard as everyone else in this world. Having
too much pride, or what some refer to as tragic flaw, will almost definitely lead to one's downfall.
Personally, my problem was that my understanding of the law was simplistic. All the rules that
responsible citizens follow day in and day out somehow didn't apply to me. I could pick fights, I
could stay out past curfew, I could vandalize others' property, and it would never come back to hurt
me. In fact, I was not only hurting myself but all those around me. My father, my girlfriend, and
everyone who was only trying to help me had suffered through me being the manipulative addict I
was.
A sincere saying is that, "People who use others as stepping stones , eventually lose their balance". I
have not only stepped, however stomped on a multitude of people in my life. For instance, I have
stolen from my own family's wallets in order to get my fix. In this past year I have had to reteach
myself how to live. I needed consequences to change. It wasn't until I started to realize I wasn't
invincible that I started to realize the way I was approaching every situation in my life was no
longer going to work. After I spent time in jail, and having time to ponder the decisions I had made
to put me there; I realized my life, as I was living it, was not doing anything for me. It was getting
me nowhere in life, costing absurd amounts of money, destroying relationships, and making me
unhappy. The only thing I have been looking for my whole life is happiness, chasing it with
substances for a temporary fix. In reality, I was making myself more miserable. Beverly Daniel
Tatum states in her article, "The Complexity of Identity: Who Am I,":
Triggered by the biological changes associated with puberty, the maturation of cognitive abilities,
and changing societal expectations, this process of simultaneous reflection and observation, the
self–creation of one's identity, is commonly experienced in the United States and other Western
societies during the period of adolescence. (par. 6)

Covey (2004) discusses about the four dimensions of renewal that include: the physical, mental,

meditating with peace or with God, or just rethinking about what my values and goals are in life. It
is renewing my physical dimension by eating the right foods, working out, and taking care of my
body. It is continuing to learn new things and being open to new ideas to renew my mental

people to enhance my social/emotional dimension. Renewing myself can change my perspective on
life, how I perform at work and at school. It can change my attitude and my confidence in myself.
However, I need to work on the four dimensions in a balanced way. I must retain balance and make

My Leadership Style Analysis
This week I take on Ohio as I learn to grow as a leader.
Today a lot of the things we talked about really hit home with me, and I actually cried in a room full
of strangers as I told them my story and why I chose to be a leader.
But today we talked about resilience. We defined resilience as:
The process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources
of stress.
This definition really spoke to me. I have been facing this day after day ever since April, and today
we had a lady talk to us about it for 2 hours, but it felt like it was only seconds. She helped me to
realize that I am not alone, that I have other sisters out there that are fighting, if not the same battle,

I definitely relate to these characteristics way more... Most of the time they all occur at once.
To fold up into yourself is basically when you look at people and just say "I can't with you right
now." You hide away, turn off your phone, turn off all communication with the outside world, and
basically just become one with your bed... and maybe a bag of taco bell. With my depression, I am
guilty of this a lot. People try to talk to me and then I get in trouble because I get irritated that they
won't just leave me alone with myself for a bit... That's often when I storm off. You just hit that
point where you've had enough and you just need to run away from all your responsibilities. This
was comforting to hear from someone else, because I was starting to worry that maybe part of my
three year old self had held onto parts of my brain. Next is to blame others. You don't want to accept
that you have done wrong or that you have messed up, so you start putting the blame on other
people. Next, you require total control. In a leadership role, sometimes you feel like you have lost
control of a situation, so you try to regain control by taking all of it. You shut people out, and you
tell them that you don't need their help. As a bit of a control freak, like I said, I am very guilty of
this. As I come into contact with more and more leaders on campus, I have learned to step back and
just observe situations and let other people handle them. I have

How Does Change Affect Us Grow And Develop? Essay
Human development can be easily defined as the growth and changes we experience from birth until
death. So as we develop, we become more familiar with the aspects we like, and dislike, about
ourselves. The dislikeable aspects often bring about the desire to change. Although, change can be
difficult to decide to do and it can be much more difficult to actually make the changes. However, it
is important to understand that change helps us grow and develop. So, in writing this paper, I hope
that I will be more adamant to understand and make changes, so I can remove the dislikeable
aspects of myself. The most important aspects about myself that I would like to change are my
overwhelming desires to argue and my habit of expecting the absolute worse from the people and
the life around me. Ever since I was young, I can remember constant, and trivial, arguments that I
would have with those around me. I would argue with people of all ages. When the arguments
would occur, I would always start my side with why I was right and also by not accepting the fact
that anyone could teach me something, or may even have a different opinion on the matter. To this
day, I still have arguments with the people I love the most. It's almost as if I get some sort of
adrenaline rush from arguing, even if I know that the argument is insignificant and can be avoided.
Sometimes, I will even know I am wrong about the issue, and I will still argue like it is my saving
grace. When I do realize that I am wrong,

Personal Note On Social Acceptance
Social Acceptance
When starting this personal change project, I found it easy to find a subject for me to change
because it was something that I had wanted to do for a long time. I am a people pleaser. I am
controlled by people's opinion of me. Plain and simple, I want to be accepted. It is exhausting, and
not possible. To begin to change, I had to embrace the reason's I was a people pleaser and needed
others acceptance.
Acceptance and Rejection
The need for acceptance always comes with the fear of rejection. The need for acceptance is a
powerful motivator, but the fear of rejection can be even scarier. We can all think of a time where
we were rejected, and when thinking on that memory, and I bet you can still feel the sting. "Fear of

Need to belong
Nathan DeWall, a Psychologist at the University of Kentucky says that "Humans have a
fundamental need to belong. Just as we have needs for food and water, we also have needs for
positive and lasting relationships." The need to belong can be so strong that we are willing to change
who we are just to belong to a group. Most times it is small changes. For people who are people
pleasers, we will go out of our way to help others, even if that means we are neglecting ourselves,
just to get their approval.
Self Esteem and Rejection
According to Geraldine Downey, PH. D., professor of psychology at Columbia University,
"Research says that people whose self–esteem is lower will experience rejection as more painful,
and it 'll take them a little longer to get over it," he says. Meanwhile, those who have higher self–
esteem –– but who aren 't narcissists –– tend to be more resilient." Rejection for someone with low
self–esteem is more damaging because they are less resilient to the hurt. A step that I have only
begun to work on is my view of myself. I am not comfortable with who I am. I am always
conforming to what others want me to be because I don't have confidence in my true self. It is easier
to be who others want you to be then to be who you really are. There is less rejection, if you go
along with others idea of who you should be.

ideas, the ability to think and question critically, motivation to fulfill new skills, sense of humor,
creativity as well as having curiosity. My goals for intellectual wellness are to keep my mind
constantly learning and never be satisfied with what I have learned. My weaknesses for Intellectual
wellness are also very few, the one thing that I think really stands out from the list is creativeness.
Which also may have some things to do with thinking critically. My strengths are that I'm a very
open minded person always willing to try and experience something new. I have a great motivation
and determination inside of me that makes me want to perfect whatever it is I'm doing at the time
whatever it may be. My sense of humor is also very key, I couldn't live without having humor and
laughing, its just one of the greatest things about live to make someone smile or smiling yourself. I
also find myself curios about new things asking questions and researching about things I don't know
something about, constantly trying to learn more and more all of the time. My goals as far as
Intellectual wellness go to keep on doing what I have been for the positives and to always keep an
open mind no matter

Personal Narrative-Attic Analysis

  • 1. Personal Narrative-Attic Analysis "Everyone has a problem with themselves, and no–one can ever be perfect." My dad tells me. Everyone has self–doubt or some other problem at one time or another, whether it be emotional problems or family problems, otherwise known as external and internal problems. I've had both. My parent's divorce, self–doubt, and anger issues that followed are my example. I wanted it all to change because I felt like being a caged animal. I couldn't escape my complications and it felt as if everything was making my cage smaller and eventually, I'd have to break out. That animal was my anger, self–doubt and any other problem, seething constantly, wanting to be unleashed. I needed to find a way to control my anger, my self–doubt, and my life. First, I'll tell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I continued to retaliate. "I want to succeed! I want my dreams to come true! I will do what I want, even if someone says I can't, all because I can. But, I cannot wait around, asking and wishing, hoping that change will come, NO! I am going to work hard, I'm going to stand up to my obstacles, and any other thing threatening my path. I will do anything I can, in order to achieve and be a better person!" Then, my self–doubt went down, and my anger became at bay. It felt like the world had opened up. I realized that if I would've taken responsibility for myself, I wouldn't have been this way. Life is all about being responsible and ready to undertake your actions. I just needed to figure out how to become proactive, and I realized how much I could gain in life. I just needed someone, such as my dad to trust and tell me his stories and what he has learned about life, and most of all, I needed to stand up to myself. This is all how I changed myself and became who I am. To this day, even if that self–doubt comes back, or my anger rises, I find something to do, and just think about how my future can and will be. No matter how hard life gets, I won't give up. It's all because I'm actually doing something about my life, and not just waiting for it to change. I want to be a role model for people and my future family, because if anyone goes through the same things as me, I can help, so that they may endure in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Personal Happiness Essay To gain happiness, people believe that they should have to change everything about themselves. Meanwhile, when they change themselves they would eventually go back to their old habits. It's imperative that you're happy with yourself and have determination to change for the better. The wrong determination to have is to try to fix everything that has gone wrong in their lives. You would need to plan how you're going to change the way you live. Also, plan how to bring happiness into your life. Assuming changing my relationships with people, how I think of cognitively thinking about things around me, and change the way I see the world. The relationship that I have with my family has a big role in my personal happiness. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, I seconded guess myself when something goes right in my life. I wish I can have things go right in my life more often than bad things that have happened. A scientist has done a study that focuses on how thinking negatively can affect your mental health. They found out that people with negative attitude have higher chance to have a mental disorder (Bieda & Hirschfeld & Schönfeld & Brailovskaia & Zhang & Margraf, 2017) To change the way, I think I will try not to overthink everything. I will gain determination that when things go bad in my life I will overlook it. Then think about how that situation happened for a reason. When I start to think in a positive way, I will express positivity all around me. I must try to not look down on myself. I also should think about think about positive things more and not have everything bring me down. Thinking differently will help improve my happiness. The way I cognitively think about things that happen to me impacts the way I see the world. Lately, I haven't been seeing the good things that have happened in the world. Everything has been bad. Recently the world has been through the Los Vegas shooting. Protesting of a cop not being guilty shooting a man. Looking around at the world everything has been tragic. The scientist said that globally we should focus on three things. One thing is often having pleasant moods more than not. Secondly, try and use unpleasant mood less often. • 3. Eric Thomas Reflection After watching the Eric Thomas video, My initial impact was feeling a great deal of disappointment in myself. The reason for this disappointment, was because I felt like his words were directed towards me. There are times when you realize you fail, but you cannot bring yourself to admit that it was your fault and your fault alone. And I tend to blame my failures on the circumstances surrounding me, rather than my incapability in putting one hundred percent of my effort in what I want to accomplish. Hearing Eric Thomas speak with extensive passion, made me feel inspired and passionate about putting one hundred percent, and even beyond that in everything I desire to accomplish. Failing to put in all the effort you know you are capable of is a major let down, because you know you can do better if you tried your best. You have to sum up all the effort you have, even if the outcomes may not be as what you had expected, rather than allow yourself to live in a state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will stop standing in the way of my own success, and restrain myself from holding back my full potential. I will stop myself from being a victim of circumstances and situations, and overcome all the obstacles I face. You only win and accomplish things if you set your mind to do so, and you fail if you walk in with the attitude of a loser. After watching Eric Thomas, I decided that I will take several actions in order to change my attitude towards my goals. Starting from today, I will wake up passionate about the what I want to achieve, set goals in my mind, and work my best to accomplish them. I will put in all my effort in everything I do, no matter how small or easy it may seem. • 4. Who Changed My Cheese Essay In a world that is constantly changing and throwing more obstacles your way, you have two options on how you handle it. You can either shy away from these challenges and let them control your life, or you can tackle them head on and make the most out of every situation. Throughout my life, I have had many challenges put in front of me, but instead of letting them control me, I overcome these challenges and adapt to it's new changes. I'm no stranger to hardship and change in life. I grew up in a middle class family, where my mother spent her days as a sub in local schools and her nights going back to school to get her degree and my father has been laid off twice in the past two years. Instead of panicking or resisting these challenges, I watched them adapt to the world around them, and control the outcome. Having the opportunity to observe how they handled situations like these, and many others, helped shape the way I cope with all the changes in life. In "Who Moved My Cheese", it was at times difficult for me to watch Hem and his unwillingness to take action. Especially, when Haw decided it was time to go find new cheese and Hem still stayed in Cheese Station C. It's not easy to relate to a character like Hem. He had very materialistic tendencies and was extremely resistant to any types of change. In his situation, being able to adapt was a legitimate life or death choice, and it took him way too long to realize that. Hem is also a very lazy individual. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Persuasive Essay About Becoming An Adult Responsibility Becoming an adult is a major responsibility for most people. One that can change your life sometimes for the good, but can also make your life hard for the time being as well. For the past few months, I had a recent change I turned 18 and got thrown to the wolfs. I had to start taking responsibility for myself and paying my own bills. Things in my life changed and they changed quite fast. Last December, I had gotten my license and bought my first car. Until graduation I would pay for half of my car insurance. The month I turned 18 I already had a job set for me which I was very thankful for. But while I was finishing up my last few months of high school it got very hard for me to balance school and work and my internship for me to graduate. With me having to work almost 90 hours a month, on top of having to get 120 hours of internship work done in at the hospital on top of all my other school work it was very draining. My Grandma gave me until graduation to save money and she made sure I knew that she was done paying my phone bill and my car insurance. Once I graduated things started to get easier and started to get back in to the swing of my life again. For an 18–year–old $200 car instance bill is a big bill especially when your check isn't that much every month, plus a $60 phone bill, and gas and whatever things I need to get around the house. This experience became my permanent white water because I know a few months ago I would complain about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Belonging In Brene Brown's TED Talk Don't you ever feel the urge to run away? Tired of all the problems you have to face? Tired of disappointing everyone because you feel like you aren't living up to their expectations? Tired of being whom you are as a person? So tired that you simply don't just want to run away, but also disappear? In some point in our lives, we go through this and hit rock bottom. We feel as if our family and friends will be better off without us and they perhaps wouldn't even miss you. But let me ask you this if you don't like something about yourself then why not change? One gloomy day I was on my newsfeed on Instagram, giggling at some memes to drooling on some photos of Jensen Ackles, until something caught my attention. I clicked on the photo and the first thing I saw was blood. I saw a person lying down while another person emerges as if ripping themselves from their own self. In that moment, I saw what would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before I thought to kill off my vulnerability was the best for me. When we look up the definition for vulnerable it says, "Open to moral attack, criticism, temptation." But as Brene Brown said in her TED talk: The power of vulnerability, vulnerability is also the birthplace of joy, of creativity, of belonging, of love. Back then, I thought being emotionless was better than being a bitter child. The things that would make me feel bitter or hurt my feelings would no longer have an affect one me. Here's the thing, though, if I were to take my vulnerability away, I would also be taking away all my emotions from sadness to happiness to gratitude. I would go back to looking for a purpose in my life. I still struggle embracing my vulnerable side, but I know its part of life and what makes us human beings. What once might have hurt me is now merely nothing, but a pebble. I get to decide whether it's worth to agonize about it. Our vulnerability is something that makes us beautiful so I welcome it with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Personal Narrative: Controlling Fate Controlling Fate is an Enigma "I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act; but I do believe in a fate that falls on them unless they act." (Buddha) Throughout history, there has always seemed to be a connection between what people do, and how those things determine their worth as people. While I have gone about living my own life, I have found a strange curiosity within figuring out just how this relates within myself. Do I have the ability to change my fate and who I am? Or was that predetermined already. It's interesting to think about how much and little impact we have on every aspect of existence around us. It's interesting to think about what it means to be anything at all. Ever since I was a little girl, I remember finding myself immersed with the world around me. It was always exciting to take in every detail the way children have an amazing way of doing. While the world may have seemed giant, it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I was in the fifth grade, I had the wonderful opportunity to experience what having your parents get divorced feels like. If there is anything that makes you feel like you can't control how the world moves and changes, is going through that. For the longest time I'd tell myself how if I could change their minds, that for one moment I could show them they loved each other, that things would revert back to how they once were. However, I was taught a tough lesson early on that life doesn't agree with your intentions all of the time. That doesn't mean you give up. Life isn't meant to be easy, that's the beauty of it. While not all your choices change things around you, the choices you make will always change how you see things yourself. In conclusion, I believe you do have control of what you make out of your life. You may not always be able to choose what happens from the choices you make in life. • 8. Five Years Ago Research Paper There are many different changes that happened to me in the past 5 years. Such changes change the way of how I live and what happens to my life. Changes happen as you grow up, and there are many factors that induce changes, whether it is from daily habits, social interactions, influence from parents, and many more. In my case, I have probably changed the most due to social influence and the environment around me. One of my most noticeable changes I the way I think. • 11. What I Exporned That I Have Learned In My Life In my life I have learned a lot about myself; the people in it have been a huge impact on the person I am today. People like friends and family have helped shape me into the person I have become. It can be scary how easily someone can change you, but with the help of true friends they can bring out the best in you. I have learned that some people can have a negative impact on your life and some people just aren't meant to stay. I've learned that one person, if the right person, can change you for the good. When I first met Emily Moe I had no idea what kind of impact she would have on my life. As our friendship has grown she has showed me more and more about my own self. She is always herself around everyone and never changes for people. That is the first thing I have learned from her; do not change yourself to get the attention of others. Since meeting Emily I never felt the need to be someone else when I was around her. It took a little longer to realize that I shouldn't just be myself around emily and certain people, but everyone. She taught me that being yourself is one of the most important things in life. Now, because of her I will carry this lesson throughout my life. I've seen other people act differently when around certain people and it make you wonder if they're happy being someone else. I've been there, pretending to be someone you're not, and you might be happy for awhile, but knowing that you're friends aren't really accepting you for you can be upsetting. I ... Reflection Paper Beginning to Understand Reviewing the idea of good fortune in one's life caused me to realize a lot about how I want to live my life, and how I should impact others by living my life to its fullest potential. Its opened me up more to the role of religion in my own life, causing me to realize what I need to work on and how I need to not change. The vast majority of my life lies in front of me and right here, right now, is where I need to focus and be present because I have been put on this earth for a reason, but I am yet to figure out what that reason is. This is not something that worries me, but rather inspires me because I will always know that I mean something and this sheds light into the darkest of times. These three questions of who God is, why does one receive good fortune, and what really is religion that have lingered about me for the vast majority of life have finally begun to resonate with me. I do not fully understand what the role of religion in my life is right now, but I feel that I do not need to understand what it is right now because I can already see myself growing to make religion more prominent in my life. Now it is one thing to say that I am beginning to understand how these questions are being evident in my life, but it is another thing to understand how it is that I will change myself to become the fullest person that I can be. • 17. Temperament Characteristics Of Child Development Temperament is defined as the individual behavioral style of the child, the way in which he characteristically reacts to environmental stimuli. Temperament is distinct from the child's innate abilities and motivation. Their are nine temperament traits; activity being the first which is based on the level of motor component in a child's functioning, rated as regular, variable, or irregular. I would rate myself as moderate. I prefer to be independent; I rather do a task myself so that I don't have to watch someone else do it. I also don't like to be confined I prefer to explore the areas and things that surround me. Rhythmicity being the second temperament trait is all about the regularity or predictability in the timing of recurrent activities, rated as regular, variable, or irregular. Regular best describes me because I stick to a routine everyday and if it is changed I have a very hard time dealing with it. I eat the same thing everyday and at the same time everyday. I wake up every morning at the same time, but I fall asleep at different times depending on what I did that day. And lastly I have a difficult time adjusting to different time zones whenever I go away on vacation. The Approach/Withdrawal is the third temperament it is about the nature of a child's response to a new stimulus, rated as approach, variable, or withdrawal. • 19. Personal Statement: Understanding Who I Am Everyone is unique in their own way, no matter how small. Many things show who you are as an individual. These "things" are beliefs, traditions, interests, hobbies, passions, skills, and even family. These contribute to you as a being, if you are one, and who you are. This essay will help you understand who I am. I as a person, have many beliefs and traditions as well as many things I want to change about myself. I believe that I can be anything I want as long as I work hard. When I grow older I want to be a doctor who helped many and has done something to make a difference in the art of healing because that is important to this race we call human. Due to this belief, I value those who work hard and dream big. I also value those who have changed the world and am interested in their ideals and steps they took, if it was planned. If I were to change just one thing of myself it would be to be brave enough to speak to others without worry of being turned down or embarrassed (I speak a lot but that's mostly to cover up awkward silence). Therefore I value those who can speak their mind without fear. As you can see my beliefs and values make a big part of who I am. Change is not just what drives me forward, it is what keeps me balanced. I have developed into a person that is able to successfully go from various changes – to mistakes – to learning and being able to move forward. Without making these critical mistakes and experiencing the almost–facetious amount of changes, I would not have been able to become the person I am today. Many facets of adulthood have been introduced as changes to me, some very recently. Some of these include creativity, a competitive nature, and individuality. Creativity was always fostered in me since I can remember. I was always asking questions about the origins of objects and my mind would always play as to what the meaning behind what once seemed like phenomena. This lead to me always imagining the world working in some way that even though not true – made sense to me. As my base knowledge grew more and more, some of these creative visions I had, had to be adjusted. For example, when I was younger, I thought time travel would be possible if we could just act like the superhero Flash and run so fast the earth spins around. Think about our Character Traits of the Week, collaborating with others, problem solving skills, critical thinking, etc. A: Throughout this 9 weeks, this class has helped to speed up and aid my recovery. Without this class, I feel as though I would have relapsed into the pit of depression I found myself in last year. More specifically, this class has shown me my capabilities and given me much more self confidence. It's amazing to think last year people considered me a pretty carefree person, as I feel this year I have only become more free with myself and real with how I view myself, and my world around me. Not only has this class shown me more internal things about myself, but it has also taught me how to better communicate my thoughts and opinions to others around me. Like Mr. Jones talked about in the first week of class, our generation lacks the times to experience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, I did not even know what leadership really was. I was always told I was a "leader" but never quite understood what that meant as I viewed myself as "bossy". I am glad Mr. Jones clarified the difference between being a leader and being a boss, as I fear I would have lived my entire life too afraid to truly take charge due to thinking I was being bossy. This realization of the difference between the two occurred during our friday jump rope activity when I burst out with a new idea, only to later apologize for my behaviour in thinking I was being bossy. Mr. Jones corrected me in introducing the idea that that was, in fact, leading. One of my favorite lessons was the one on failure. The fear of failure article was inspiring and really allowed me to check myself and see what I have been holding back within myself for so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Personal Narrative: My Authentic Leadership Assignment The authentic leadership assignments was one of the most enriching assignment in this course as it allowed me an opportunity to increase my self–awareness in terms of what kind of a leader I am, what my personal beliefs are how they relate to my strengths and weaknesses as a leader. As I am developing myself in a leadership role, I am constantly looking at ways to not only improve myself but also the organizational system that I work in. Through the authentic leadership assisgnment, one of the concepts that really struck me was the process of change and Barry's video regarding the 10– 20% rule where people will never buy into the idea of change. As I am starting a new change project within my organization, I am so focused on the naysayers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that I am naturally a leader because I have the above mentioned qualities in varying degrees within me. My biggest strength is the ability to empathize with others. Empathy comes naturally to me as I am very sensitive to what people are going through and their feelings. Being in healthcare industry, I practice empathy on a daily basis when caring for my patients. I can easily place myself in their shoes, understand them and provide a bigger picture perspective in situations that require leadership. I believe that empathy is something that I will continually develop as I continue practice medicine. Moreover, I also have a high level of self–awareness. This skill has developed even more throughout this course discussions and assignments where I reflect upon myself. Knowing myself is something I have always tried to do– which is why I believe I am a natural leader. I have always identified with Socrates who taught so long ago that we should know ourselves. I think there is a great deal of wisdom in this idea because ultimately we are responsible for ourselves and we need to be accountable for our actions. How will one know what he is to be accountable for if he does not really know who or what he is? So one has to know himself in order to really be responsible. This means one has to take a good long look at oneself– faults, strengths, weaknesses; be honest about it as false humility is an obstacle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. My Personal Statement On My Life I would like to start to be kinder to others, find more time to focus on myself and who I am, and finally, I want to be more positive and stop complaining. Throughout life, I was raised to do well in school and that 's my main focus. I was pushed to get good grades and to forget the rest. Now that my high school career is coming to an end I have more time for some self change. I want to spend less time focusing on what others want and what I want. I 'm told many times I could be nicer to others and stop complaining as much. I tend to want to do what others think is best and not what I think is best for me. So those are just a few ways I wish to change and ways I want to improve myself. Throughout life I haven 't treated people the best of my ability. In school, I had a very self involved attitude. I would have rather done everything myself, and I have no patience for when others bother me. I want to try to focus on the positive qualities people have. I want to smile more and be nice to strangers. I think these changes would make me be a better person. Learning to care about others feelings and take into account that everyone is different and we all need to be viewed different. A big saying my mom has always said is, "we don 't know what 's happening in someone else 's life so just be kind to everyone you come in contact with." In today 's society we smile less and are rude way more than we are kind. If we stopped and started just smiling a little more who knows whos ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Reflection Paper On I Am Invincible I like to assume I am invincible, that nothing terrible will ever happen to me. It wasn't until my life started to fall to pieces that I realized I had to try just as hard as everyone else in this world. Having too much pride, or what some refer to as tragic flaw, will almost definitely lead to one's downfall. Personally, my problem was that my understanding of the law was simplistic. All the rules that responsible citizens follow day in and day out somehow didn't apply to me. I could pick fights, I could stay out past curfew, I could vandalize others' property, and it would never come back to hurt me. In fact, I was not only hurting myself but all those around me. My father, my girlfriend, and everyone who was only trying to help me had suffered through me being the manipulative addict I was. A sincere saying is that, "People who use others as stepping stones , eventually lose their balance". I have not only stepped, however stomped on a multitude of people in my life. For instance, I have stolen from my own family's wallets in order to get my fix. In this past year I have had to reteach myself how to live. I needed consequences to change. It wasn't until I started to realize I wasn't invincible that I started to realize the way I was approaching every situation in my life was no longer going to work. After I spent time in jail, and having time to ponder the decisions I had made to put me there; I realized my life, as I was living it, was not doing anything for me. It was getting me nowhere in life, costing absurd amounts of money, destroying relationships, and making me unhappy. The only thing I have been looking for my whole life is happiness, chasing it with substances for a temporary fix. In reality, I was making myself more miserable. Beverly Daniel Tatum states in her article, "The Complexity of Identity: Who Am I,": Triggered by the biological changes associated with puberty, the maturation of cognitive abilities, and changing societal expectations, this process of simultaneous reflection and observation, the self–creation of one's identity, is commonly experienced in the United States and other Western societies during the period of adolescence. My Personal Assessment My Personal Assessment to Reality Knowing that I was going to track myself on my health habits, I felt the need to change my habits around to make myself seem "healthy", however this only lasted two days. This was a check to reality, that my habits are only doing harm to myself and I need to change them. My health habits prior to assessing myself were horrible. The only exercise I would do is the walk where I parked my car to my apartment or parking lot to my classes. Not only did I not exercise, my eating habits were horrible, and to top if off my sleeping habit was bad. I usually have a frozen burrito or frozen waffle for breakfast with a shake and for lunch some leftovers or microwavable food. Let's not forget my 24oz of coffee. Additionally, my lunch was accompanied by chips and candy or chocolate bar. Moreover, I would be having dinner at 9pm and than snacking on chips or candy at 12am while studying. Covey (2004) discusses about the four dimensions of renewal that include: the physical, mental, spiritual, and social/emotional dimensions (p. 300). It is cleansing my spiritual dimension by meditating with peace or with God, or just rethinking about what my values and goals are in life. It is renewing my physical dimension by eating the right foods, working out, and taking care of my body. It is continuing to learn new things and being open to new ideas to renew my mental dimension. Lastly, it is communicating effectively, synergizing, and creating relationships with people to enhance my social/emotional dimension. Renewing myself can change my perspective on life, how I perform at work and at school. It can change my attitude and my confidence in myself. • 35. My Leadership Style Analysis This week I take on Ohio as I learn to grow as a leader. Today a lot of the things we talked about really hit home with me, and I actually cried in a room full of strangers as I told them my story and why I chose to be a leader. But today we talked about resilience. We defined resilience as: The process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress. This definition really spoke to me. I have been facing this day after day ever since April, and today we had a lady talk to us about it for 2 hours, but it felt like it was only seconds. She helped me to realize that I am not alone, that I have other sisters out there that are fighting, if not the same battle, one that is similar to mine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I definitely relate to these characteristics way more... Most of the time they all occur at once. To fold up into yourself is basically when you look at people and just say "I can't with you right now." You hide away, turn off your phone, turn off all communication with the outside world, and basically just become one with your bed... and maybe a bag of taco bell. With my depression, I am guilty of this a lot. People try to talk to me and then I get in trouble because I get irritated that they won't just leave me alone with myself for a bit... That's often when I storm off. You just hit that point where you've had enough and you just need to run away from all your responsibilities. This was comforting to hear from someone else, because I was starting to worry that maybe part of my three year old self had held onto parts of my brain. Next is to blame others. You don't want to accept that you have done wrong or that you have messed up, so you start putting the blame on other people. Next, you require total control. In a leadership role, sometimes you feel like you have lost control of a situation, so you try to regain control by taking all of it. You shut people out, and you tell them that you don't need their help. As a bit of a control freak, like I said, I am very guilty of this. As I come into contact with more and more leaders on campus, I have learned to step back and just observe situations and let other people handle them. I have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. How Does Change Affect Us Grow And Develop? Essay Human development can be easily defined as the growth and changes we experience from birth until death. So as we develop, we become more familiar with the aspects we like, and dislike, about ourselves. The dislikeable aspects often bring about the desire to change. Although, change can be difficult to decide to do and it can be much more difficult to actually make the changes. However, it is important to understand that change helps us grow and develop. So, in writing this paper, I hope that I will be more adamant to understand and make changes, so I can remove the dislikeable aspects of myself. The most important aspects about myself that I would like to change are my overwhelming desires to argue and my habit of expecting the absolute worse from the people and the life around me. Ever since I was young, I can remember constant, and trivial, arguments that I would have with those around me. I would argue with people of all ages. When the arguments would occur, I would always start my side with why I was right and also by not accepting the fact that anyone could teach me something, or may even have a different opinion on the matter. To this day, I still have arguments with the people I love the most. It's almost as if I get some sort of adrenaline rush from arguing, even if I know that the argument is insignificant and can be avoided. Sometimes, I will even know I am wrong about the issue, and I will still argue like it is my saving grace. When I do realize that I am wrong, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Personal Note On Social Acceptance Social Acceptance When starting this personal change project, I found it easy to find a subject for me to change because it was something that I had wanted to do for a long time. I am a people pleaser. I am controlled by people's opinion of me. Plain and simple, I want to be accepted. It is exhausting, and not possible. To begin to change, I had to embrace the reason's I was a people pleaser and needed others acceptance. Acceptance and Rejection The need for acceptance always comes with the fear of rejection. The need for acceptance is a powerful motivator, but the fear of rejection can be even scarier. We can all think of a time where we were rejected, and when thinking on that memory, and I bet you can still feel the sting. "Fear of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Need to belong Nathan DeWall, a Psychologist at the University of Kentucky says that "Humans have a fundamental need to belong. Just as we have needs for food and water, we also have needs for positive and lasting relationships." The need to belong can be so strong that we are willing to change who we are just to belong to a group. Most times it is small changes. For people who are people pleasers, we will go out of our way to help others, even if that means we are neglecting ourselves, just to get their approval. Self Esteem and Rejection According to Geraldine Downey, PH. D., professor of psychology at Columbia University, "Research says that people whose self–esteem is lower will experience rejection as more painful, and it 'll take them a little longer to get over it," he says. Meanwhile, those who have higher self– esteem –– but who aren 't narcissists –– tend to be more resilient." Rejection for someone with low self–esteem is more damaging because they are less resilient to the hurt. A step that I have only begun to work on is my view of myself. I am not comfortable with who I am. I am always conforming to what others want me to be because I don't have confidence in my true self. It is easier to be who others want you to be then to be who you really are. There is less rejection, if you go along with others idea of who you should be.
