Hey today I will be talking about why I choose sustainable Agriculture and go against Traditional
Agriculture. First I'll give you the definition or what traditional and sustainable agriculture
are.Traditional Agriculture is an old fashion way of agriculture. Sustainable Agriculture is a newer
way. Also the definition for Agriculture: is a way of farming and practicing a way of producing wool
or food. The reason that I choose Sustainable is because it doesn't damage a lot like traditional
agriculture does. But that's my personal opinion. I will tell you why I think Sustainable is better and
what advantages it has.
A way that Traditional agriculture damages the environment is by killing the topsoil and subsoil.
Also it kills pest that are not harmful for the crops. An example would be ladybugs who are affected
when the pesticide from the plants runoff and go to the ladybugs habitat and get on their food and
that's how traditional affects them. Also traditional agriculture uses a lot of chemicals.It also affects
different species of birds. It is also harder to harvest than sustainable. It can even affect us, when the
level is high on the plants the higher is the chance of getting ill , like cancer. So people who live
close to these farm lands that use traditional agriculture have a chance of having cancer going
through their family generations.

GMOs (genetically modified organisms) are organism that had specific changes in their DNA using

The majority of human activities are incredibly detrimental to the environment, and we need to
reduce these activities if we want to save our planet. Activities that cause things like pollution,
deforestation, global warming, and excessive water usage are some of the major causes of our

the diseased, drawing all people into the Reign of God.
Participation sees all forms of life and parts of creation as relevant to justice. Humans may have a
special relationship to God, but the Bible repeatedly describes all creation as intimately affected by
the interactions of God and humanity. The Hebrew scriptures are full of imagery like Hosea 4:1b–3:
There is no faithfulness or loyalty, and no knowledge of God in the land. Swearing, lying, and
murder, and stealing and adultery break out; bloodshed follows bloodshed. Therefore the land
mourns, and all who live in it languish; together with the wild animals and the birds of the air, even
the fish of the sea are perishing.
Humans and other creatures experience the pain together that comes from alienation from God.

Introduction
Sustainable consumption and production is defined by the United Nations Department of Economic
and Social Affairs (2014) as the use of services and related products, which respond to basic needs
and bring a better quality of life while minimising the use of natural resources as well as the
emissions of waste and pollutants so as not to jeopardise the needs of further generations. Over the
last 25 years many policies, strategies and programmes that support the food and agricultural sector
in Uganda have been put in place. This can be categorised into overarching national policies and
specific agricultural and rural development initiatives (FAO, 2013). The agricultural sector has the
largest input into Uganda's economy; therefore the two categories are highly inter–related.
Agriculture is the most important sector of the economy, employing over 66 percent of the work
force (UBoS, 2012). Approximately 80 percent of Uganda 's population lives in rural areas, and 66
percent are employed in agriculture. Agriculture accounts for 24.1 percent of GDP and 51.9 percent
of exports in 2010/11. Most of Uganda 's agricultural sector consists of small–scale farming (FAO,
2013). Uganda is a country endowed with a warm climate, abundant fertile land and regular rainfall,
which provides one of the best environments for agricultural production (ACORD, 2010).

Introduction Although many still think of the Philippines as an agricultural economy, strictly
speaking, it is not. Agriculture, fishery and forestry directly account for just one–fifth (20 percent) of
the economy's aggregate domestic output (GDP). Ever since the 1960s, the direct share of
agriculture in the GDP had fallen below one–third, and by 1981, the sector's share had decreased to
only 23 percent. Growth from this level was rather anemic, averaging 1.7 percent per annum during
the period 1981–2003, compared to the average overall GDP growth of 2.6% over the same period.

The last section identifies the pitfalls that have hampered investments in the sector and stifled
growth in the agribusiness industry, and ends with a general indication of the needed interventions to
overcome the sector's current hurdles.
Production and Productivity Trends Labor productivity. Up until the 1970s, the Philippines'
agricultural performance, in terms of both agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) and agricultural
exports, compared well with its neighbors and other Asian countries (Figure 3a). But by the 1980s
and 1990s, the country had lagged behind most of the countries in the region (Figures 3b and 3c).
This came as agricultural output growth had slowed down dramatically through the decades (Figure
4). Moreover, the sector's growth had been rather erratic in the 1990s, especially with the periodic
occurrence of the El Niño phenomenon that had appreciable impact on weather patterns and,
consequently, agricultural performance. Table 1 shows the average annual growth in GVA of major
agricultural commodities since 1960. What is clear from the table is that growth rates of all
commodities, except for livestock and poultry, have been slowing down over time. Furthermore,
growth rates have been below the population growth rate, implying that production has not been
