Hotel California Poem Analysis
"Music as Poetry" Essay
The song, "Hotel California", by the Eagles, is a very poetic song that uses imagery, and symbolism to bring out the theme in an indirect way of the
speaker's personal issues of life. The Eagles use imagery to set the mood and tone of the song. Along with many aspects of symbolism to input a lot of
double meaning throughout the whole song. With both imagery and symbolism incorporated, many fans or people who have heard of this song would
believe that the theme of this song is about a lonely traveler trying to break his own temptations.
In the first verse of the introduction of the song, imagery is used for the audience to imagine what exactly is being told. As almost as if it was a
setting in a play or a scene in a movie. In the first verse the first two set of lines says, "On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair. Warm smell of
colitas, rising up through the air." (Eagles, Lines 1–2). One can already imagine the speaker driving down a dark desert highway, with his windows
rolled down perhaps, and smelling the warm air full of desert flowers, or maybe he is smelling marijuana in the air. This could be because colitas is
Spanish slang for a bud of cannabis, but it could also mean desert flowers, (Philpot). These first two lines already sets the mood of a restless traveler
who needs a place to stay for the night after a long day of driving. It also hints that there could possibly be drugs or other temptations in this song
considering colitas

'Greed In The Poem Hotel California'
In the lyric poem "Hotel California" by The Eagles, the speaker tells the story of a man succumbing to greed and self–temptation and how he is
forever trapped by that greed in a place that is impossible to leave and go back to where he was before. The poem uses the poetic device of
symbolism by using the hotel as a place where one goes when trapped by their greed. Once the man has experienced what he wants, he is trapped in a
place he cannot leave, shown as a hotel that is impossible to leave in the poem. He begins conflicted about being greedy, ends up enjoying it, but then
figures out he's trapped forever by it.
The poem begins by telling the story of the man riding down a road when he sees a light in the distance. He sees a girl standing ... Show more content

"They stab it with their steely knives, But they just can't kill the beast," (The Eagles stanza 4, lines 6 and 7). The speaker notes that succumbing to
greed is our own fault and that we trap ourselves in our greed. "'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device,'" (The Eagles stanza 4, line 3).
The second to last stanza of the poem describes the man trying to escape of his greed. It says he is running for the door, trying to get back to the
place he was before. He has realized how badly his greed has ruined his life and tries to go back to being the normal man he was previously. But
once people have experienced greediness and what they wanted, it is impossible to get out of the trap they buried themselves in. The poem states
that "'...You can check out any time you like, But you can never leave!'" (The Eagles stanza 5, lines 7 and 8). It is impossible to leave the place your
greed has trapped you

The Eagles As A Backup Band For Linda Ronstadt
Better Let Somebody Love you
The Eagles started out as any other band would by strumming their guitars and beating the drums in their garage of their parents house. Later, they
began their real career as a backup band for Linda Ronstadt. The Eagles began as an all American Rock band in Los Angeles in 1971 by band members
Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. The Eagles, being number one in the world in the 70's, have been given awards for their
creativity and meaning in their music. "With five number–one singles, six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and six number one
albums"(Graff), the Eagles were one of the most successful bands of the 1970s. Their music changed history in their time. Many of their songs on
their number one albums got into the "Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs of All Time" list"(Graff). This song Desperado means a lot to me because it
played on the album that I used to sing along in the car with my mom and sister when I was a small child. It acts as part of a symbol in the
childhood that I so dearly cherish, and long to return to. The song is played on the album "Their Greatest Hits" and has a more country beat to it,
which I enjoyed more, than their more rock and roll take on their music. When I sing along to this song, or any song on this album, I am taken back
to the days where all the windows were down in my mom's white minivan, blowing my blonde wispy curls in my face, and the heat of the warm
sunshine on my skin. I think

The Species Taxonomy Of Barn Owls
Taxonomy
The species taxonomy, according to Sieders (2009), is as follows:
Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Aves Order: Strigiformes Family: Tytonidae Genus: Tyto Species: alba
According to Bachynski and Harris (2002), Tyto alba, commonly referred to as the Barn Owl, has 35 recognized subspecies worldwide. These
individuals are differentiated by their body size, coloration, and geographic location. The subspecies that resides in North America is known as Tyto
alba pratincola. (Bachynski & Harris, 2002).
The barn owl has been referred to by many other common names, including: Lesser Masked–Owl, Monkey–Faced Owl, Cave Owl, Death Owl, Delicate
Owl, Demon Owl, Ghost Owl, Golden Owl, Hissing Owl, Night Owl, Screech ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They can be found near grasslands, open fields, and woodlands. More recently, they have moved closer to rural and urban areas where prey is more
abundant. (Sieders, 2009). Wild Feeding Habits
The Tyto species is unique with their heart–shaped facial disc that reflects sounds waves to the inner ear. This ability allows the nocturnal predator to
hunt in complete darkness. These attacks also come as a surprise to their prey, as they are able to perform silent flight with their fringed wing design.
(Sieders, 2009).
These owls possess a higher metabolic rate, eating more than most other owls. Their diet changes with prey availability rather than a change of season
like some animals. In Australia, Sieders (2009) reports that their most common prey is the introduced long–haired rat and the house mouse. Australia
has had an infestation problem with these prey species. They have also been recorded eating small mammals, bats, baby rabbits, caterpillars, frogs,
lizards, gophers, shrews, and voles. Smaller prey items are swallowed whole while the larger items can be torn into smaller pieces before consumption.

The Pros And Cons Of Public Forums
The auditorium should be treated not as a limited public forum, but instead as a designated public forum. First, the difference between the four distinct

Essay about Hotel California: The Californian Lifestyle
"Hotel California" by The Eagles has been the recipient of much speculation since its release in 1976. Although many other interpretations exist
including some which claim this song to be referencing drugs, much evidence suggests that "Hotel California" is, at least partly, making a statement
about the lifestyle of drug and alcohol users particularly in the large cities of California. As with many songs, duality of meaning exists in "Hotel
California."
Since "Hotel California" debuted in the seventies, one can understand why the topic would be Californian drug–using lifestyle. "The scare tactics of the
1960s gave way to the contradictory messages of the late '70s and early '80s. Drugs became glamorous, without becoming better understood" ... Show

After examining the whole song, one can guess that the song makes the claim that marijuana is a drug that allows easy passage to worse drugs.
According to "a 1969 Gallup poll, only 4% of American adults said they had tried marijuana. Thirty–four percent said they didn't know the effects of
marijuana, but 43% thought it was used by many or some high school kids" (Robison); therefore, many individuals might not understand that
marijuana, as many claim today, leads to usage of more harmful substances. The speaker then sees a shimmering light as if he is about to die which
signifies the death of an old life and the birth of a new one. The temptation of drugs becomes too strong, so the speaker has to stop at the Hotel
California. The mission bell that sounds contrasts so with the topic of this song that the bell must symbolize the perversion of life by the drug–use in
California and elsewhere. "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell," furthers the idea of the death of an old life. Here, the speaker does not
really know whether or not his or her new life is going to be enjoyable in the end. As it turns out, the speaker's new life is hell. Then she lights up a
candle, or perhaps a joint since the place most likely has electricity in the seventies, and shows the speaker the way. Perhaps the woman is a
drug–dealer or a prostitute; ether one could lead a person to a lifestyle full of drugs and alcohol.
"Her mind is Tiffany–twisted, she got the Mercedes bends," (The Eagles)

Flight in Song of Solomon, Native Son, A Worn Path, Sad Sweet Story of Sugar Lips Shinehot, and Portable Promised, and Land First Eagle Story
Since the beginning of time all human beings have had a fascination with human flight. Watching a bird soar through the air, one cannot help but
desire the same capabilities. Imagine the point of view of the bird that flies high above the trees, among the mountains, over the ocean, and high in the
air, far away from the clamor of everyday life on the ground. To have the freedom and power to release ones self from the tribulations experienced
with two feet on the ground, and spring up and away into the peaceful, blue sky is a common human desire. Since ancient times, flight has represented

Flight represents more to the minority than mastering nature or freeing ones self from the bonds of gravity. To the minority, flight represents freedom.
Freedom from the chains of slavery, freedom from the trappings of this world, freedoms from that which may cause them or their families harm.
America, as a country, is made up of various races and cultures even carries as its symbol of freedom the Bald Eagle. Although there are differences in
literary references to flight among African–American, Hispanic, and American–Indian writers, the common thread among them all is the powerful
desire for freedom through flight.
To the African American, references to flight almost always exclusively represent freedom. Whether these references are in the form of novels, short
stories, poetry, or music, the history of the African's brought to America to serve as slaves is primarily based on the idea of freedom. Just as it is
stated in Course Objective 1a, forced participation was brought about by the acquisition of slaves. They did not choose to leave their native home of
Africa, nor did they choose to live out their lives as slaves in a foreign country among foreign white people who showed little compassion for their
plight. This left slaves feeling trapped and bound, spiritually, and often times physically, therefore "flight is frequently exercised as a means of escape
for African Americans from their position of oppression

Personal Essay: My Fear Of The Eagles
For as long as I can remember, I have always admired eagles because of their strength and power. However, no matter how much I admire them, I
always had a certain fear of them because they give an impression of being distant and scary. However, once I learned how misunderstood they are, the
admiration I have for them grew into love.
I felt, in many ways, that eagles represent me. They are very strong. They fly alone at a very high altitude away from the other birds and they only
interact with other eagles.
Although I have a lot of friends, I only feel a connection to those who I feel think the same way that I do, I connect with other eagles only.

Both work so hard in protecting their kids and family for example putting sharp thorns outside the nest, if any predators reach and try to get inside,
they will get hurt. This shows how eagles care about their family. Although the eagle seems cruel and distant, he still shows his soft side to those he
loves. I might seem rude to those I dislike, but only to my family and close friends, I show the compassionate side of me.
The fact that the eagle parents planned the nest shows how people should be ready for changes in life. The parents cooperating together makes
everything better and successful. The fact that they put thorns doesn't put predators in danger only but the kids as well, but this teaches them how they
should be careful and even if they get hurt a bit, it is a lesson for them to be careful and not too relaxed which taught them a lesson.
I think that the people who love us do not let us languish in sloth but push us hard to grow and prosper. Even in their seemingly bad actions they have
good intentions for us and a big example would be my

Graycloud By John Nola Analysis
Like Nola, Ruth Graycloud, was exploited and subjugated by her white husband, John Tate. Ruth was Moses Graycloud's twin sister. Like Nola, Ruth
was an Osage woman who became a victim of one of the white men who married Native American women to get access to Osage oil wealth. Despite
marrying a Native American woman, Tate had no respect to Native Americans. As Yanka Kroumova Krasteva contends, ''Tate constantly takes pictures
of the Indians, as if they were archaeological finds. And this is the way he treats his Indian wife'' (55). Tate was a photographer; he used to appear at
all significant events in the Indian territory ''standing behind the three– legged stand that held his camera, his head covered with black cloth, his own
good eye seeing everything through glass lenses (Hogan, Mean Spirit 58). He used to photograph Native Americans and send their pictures to
magazines. Tate first used Ruth as ''a model then as source of income''. (Hogan, Mean Spirit 179). He humiliated and abused her; he did not love her,
disliked to be seen with her. They ''seldom went anywhere together, but when they did, he never walked at her side (Hogan, Mean Spirit 134). At the
end of Mean Spirit Tate killed Ruth. As a result, Moses shot him dead.
In fact, Hogan highlights the oppression inflicted upon women. Meanwhile, she pinpoints the previously discussed ecofeminist principle that women's

Female gray wolves choose their mates and often form a life–long pair bond. Gray wolf pairs spend a great deal of time together.
Breeding seasons are between the months of January and April, with northern populations breeding later in the season than southern
populations.Female gray wolves come into heat once each year and lasts 5 to 14 days, mating will occur during this time. After mating occurs, the
female digs a den, to raise her young. The den is often dug with an entrance that goes down and then goes up again to a higher area to avoid flooding.
Pups are born in the den and will remain there for several weeks after birth. Other dens are usually under cliffs, under fallen trees, and in caves.
Both fertilisation and development is Internal.
The reproduction period lasts between 60 and 63 days, litter size ranges from 1 to 14, with the average size being 6 or 7 pups. Pups remain in the den
until they are 8 to 10 weeks old. During the 20th to 77th day, the pups leave the den for the first time and learn to play fight. An interaction at this time,
as well as the dominance status of the mother, ultimately determines their position in the pack. Females stay with their pups almost entirely for the first

It is in this context that the film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is identified as a possible medium to investigate the nature and effect of a
psychiatric system as accurately portrayed through this particular film, The film depicts the psychiatric system as rigid, leaving "patients" with little
room to express their individuality. The effect of the staff–members' behaviour on the "patient's" psychotherapeutic growth, highlights the staff's
ignorance and lack of knowingness of their individual responsibility, contributing to the psychopathology of not only the "patients", but also the system
as a whole. The interactional style of the psychiatric staff, as portrayed in the film, serves to contribute to the deterioration of the mental and
psychological well–being of the "patients", thus inhibiting their psychological growth. The majority of "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" takes place
in the Day Room of the hospital. The setting adds to the feeling of confinement, with the men often resorting to playing games of chess or resorting to

The Political Effects Of Traditional Family Values
After the cultural revolution of the 1960s caused all of these effects, traditional family values truly became a political manner. Ronald Reagan used the
word "family" 17 times in a nationally televised speech, while his opponent, President Ford, called for tax policies to preserve "the family home, the
family farm, and the family business." Jimmy Carter worried aloud about the traditional family during his 1976 campaign trial. It could be argued
that these politicians were overplaying the family issue, but these issues clearly became political nonetheless. This family issue had presented itself
on both the left and the right, and the struggle of both parties during this time period was to assert their own definition of family into mainstream
politics. On the left, breadwinner liberalism's approach to family began losing its appeal as real wages stagnated, inflation reached double digits,
trade unions weakened, and more families than any other point in American history since World War II depended on two people's incomes. Many
Americans, including conservatives, felt as if the liberal approach to restoring the family had failed. Furthermore, women's advocates and feminists
affirmed the positive rights of women, called for the expansion of rights of gays and children, and promoted policies that they believed would
straighten the economic wellbeing of families. However, these liberals were not as successful as conservatives in this conflict, and the family had

Most nesting locations are amongst dense shrubbery and branches of small trees and are built lower to the ground. In order to defend his nest the male
sings in a loud, clear whistle from the top of a tree or another high location. Sometimes males will attack their reflection often spending hours charging
at what they perceive as unwelcome intruders.
The male is the one to show off to attract a mate. Sometimes you'll see the male pick up a seed, hop over to the female, and the two momentarily
touch beaks as she takes the food, this is called "mate feeding". Females choose their mates based on the male's qualities such as the size of his black
face mask as well as the color of his plumage and bill. When the female agrees to become his mate they sing to each other.
The cardinal is a ground feeder and finds food while hopping through forests and shrubbery. The adults diet consists of insects, spiders, wild fruits,
berries, and weed seeds. They feed their young almost exclusively on insects. In the winter, Cardinals eat more seeds and berries since insects are

Love Of Music : My Love For Music
Growing up, it was pretty cool to say that your dad was in a band. I think that is where my love for music originated from. Being a daddy's little girl,
having the man you love, sing "Brown Eyed Girl" to you in the audience, was so incredible. It feels as though you're the only one in the room and that
the song was meant for you. That's probably my favorite aspect of music, because whatever you are going through, there is always at least one song
out there that will speak to what is going on in your life. It makes the feeling of loneliness disappear, and be replaced with a sense of comfort. As a
child, you never really understand what certain phrases in music mean, but at the time, I would always get so happy to hear that my dad was singing "
Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison, to his little brown eyedgirl. I still remember, it was my grandpa's birthday and I was about three years old. My
dad and his band, The Knott Brothers, had set up all their gear in the driveway of the house and played music for hours. Once this song came on, all I
could focus on was the fact that it said "You, my brown–eyed girl." Staring up at him, dancing all night long, with little my hair in wet ringlets, I just
knew that he was, and always was, talking about me. Being eighteen years old now, I know the story behind the song, but being that small, you always
think everything is about you. I always wanted to go on fun adventures with my dad, so when he would sing "...standing in the sunlight

Hotel California Analysis Essay
The Eagles' Hotel California Full Analysis
Musically, Hotel California can be said to be the Eagles greatest accomplishment in their career. It can also be thought of as the album that gave a
complete concept of the Eagles. Each member of the band is contributing to the music and is playing a mixture of instruments. With this range usage of
the members, the album has a complete cohesive feel. During this time of the Eagles career, they had five members; Don Henley, Don Felder, Glenn
Frey, Joe Walsh andRandy Meisner. Like mentioned previously all members sang in this album, all members wrote and all members played which
allowed for the album to be a complete concept of the band.

According to the band, 'Hotel California' is a song about materialism in American. It is an understanding of the temptation and greed that fills the
streets, especially in the lifestyle of people living in California. Don Henley, once said, "It's basically a song about the dark underbelly of the
American dream and about excess in America, which is something we knew a lot about" Ultimate Classic rock.com). It has a main theme, which is
corruption and materialism in Los Angeles. Don Henley, on CBS's 60 minutes quoted that "It's a song about the dark underbelly of the American

Political Activism
What motivated conservative women into political activism between 1980–2008? What organizations and networks did they form? What were their
central issues? After the sexual revolution of the 1960's and 1970's, conservatives were becoming increasingly concerned about the rise of
homosexuality and heterosexual promiscuity prior to marriage. Conservatives were fearful of the immoralities they were witnessing as well as the
liberal notion of people depending on the government to be a social provider and concerns about the implications of social activism that they were
witnessing. This called for a shift in politics and government. Voters elected Ronald Reagan as the new president and relied on his promise to "restore

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill opened in 1795 as the first public college in the United States. Since then, free speech and the

The Fourteenth Amendment extended this citizen protection to state law by affirming, "no state shall...abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens
of the United States" (US Const, Amend XIV,В§1). While the Fourteenth Amendment's extension of its protection to state law and the right to free
speech are seemingly straightforward, they have proven difficult for courts of law to manage. Free speech has not been given a true legal definition
and, as will be discussed in the following paragraph, is more accurately defined by its boundaries and limitations.
Courts have struggled for the past century to determine what speech is protected under the First Amendment. Rather than identifying every one of
those rights, the Supreme Court ruled the types of speech that are considered unlawful. These include fighting words (which provoke violence), any
speech that shows a clear and present danger to the government (such as terrorist threats), and perhaps most importantly hate speech (Langhauser). Hate
speech is a slightly more controversial issue because of its overall loose definition. Hate speech is often defined as statements "offending any group
based on race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation" (American Bar Association). However, many times courts have found that the simple
utterance of hate speech is protected, while the

Cutlass-Beaked River Hawk
The Cutlass–beaked river hawk, or aceros amnicus, is a very unique bird of prey. The latin root aceros means sharp, and amnicus means it is from a
river. It lives near rivers and has very sharp talons as well as an extremely sharp beak, which goes along with its scientific name. The sharp talons
allow it to catch prey trying to flee from it. It's feet are rather large, and that makes catching moving prey and gripping on to trees much easier. This
hawk lives in an environment in which the amount of fish and small mammals is abundant. Since it feeds on this type of prey, it's relatively easy for
the hawk to find food. Most of the time it is able to catch its prey because of its incredible speed, sharp talons, and beak. It's feathers are very

It has a dark green color, which allows it to blend in with the bushes and other vegetation around it. This helps it because it can also sneak up on its
prey and hide from predators. Since it is able to fly very high, they build their nests high up in the trees by the river. This provides its chicks with
plenty of protection from predators on the ground. This can also pose a threat for the hawk's chicks since there is a possibility that a chick can fall
out of the nest. This is very unlikely to happen, since the mother hawk is always reinforcing the nest with various twigs found along the riverbank
once the chicks have hatched, while the male hawk watches over the baby birds or catches food for them. The female river hawk lays the eggs,
which must be kept warm and dry in order for the unborn chick to survive. The nest also must be reinforced when the mother it incubating her eggs or
they could fall. Generally, these river hawks are pretty well–behaved and they have really good

Owls are interesting nocturnal animals that have evolved in many ways other than birds. There are over 200 different species of owls and they have
all evolved differently but they share some common characteristics. Some environmental adaptations that owls have are silent flight, keen eyesight,
and the ability to hunt. Owls have silent flight which helps them catch prey. They also fly without much effort, because their wings are large
compared with the size of their bodies. With large wings and a light body one can see an owl fly past but they will most likely not hear them. Because
of this owls can carry heavy animals, fly among thick trees, and hover above open fields. Owls have silent flight from fringed feathers that muffle the

Hotel California Rhetorical Devices
Glenn Frey, the co–founder of the Eagles, was a middle class kid living in the midwest. He dreamed of acquiring tremendous wealth in Los Angeles,
but later realized that there are more important things than money. In their song, Hotel California, originally titled Mexican Reggae, they (The Eagles)
express this idea to their audience through lyrics that convey the idea that there are more important things than just possessions, and there are negatives
to the "American Dream. The audience in this could be the average person, yet, the rhetorical devices in The Eagles' "Hotel California" are intended to
reveal to the audience that there are negatives to the American Dream, and you shouldn't change who you are in order to make it rich. In "Hotel
California," The Eagles use antithesis, to show a contrast in the American Dream by stating there are both positives and negatives by comparing them
both as heaven and hell. Frey uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case Frey uses epithet to describe a hotel in LA. The hotel represents his American dream of wanting to acquire tremendous wealth in the
West. He described this dream with admiration when he says "Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight
grew dim I had to stop for the night." When he uses the term "shimmering light" it is taken as a positive attribute because objects that shimmer are
often taken as being valuable, much like the materialistic items associated with the American dream. When he states his sight grew dim and I had to
stop for the night, this represents the underbelly of American Materialism. As a country, Americans are never satisfied with what they have. This is
why he describes it as dim and heavy, both of which are taken as having negative connotations. Once again Frey represents both sides by using an

Hotel California Poetic Devices
In the Eagles' song, Hotel California, the speaker describes their freedom in California before coming across this hotel with beautiful women.
Unfortunately for him, everything was not as it seems. The song is very light and cheerful in the beginning, hinting at themes of innocence. Although
later in the song, the hotel takes on a slightly darker look as the speaker discovers its real purpose. In the song, Hotel California, the use of poetic
devices to describe its themes of innocence and desire become prevalent. The use of metaphors show how the incoming insanity has seeped into the
hotel through the song's theme of desire, whereas the imagery shows the speakers depth of innocence in the beginning of the song. The poetic devices

The metaphors used in the song show this. In line twenty–seven, "Her mind is Tiffany–twisted, [...]." This metaphor means that the woman is obsessed
with desire for wealth; referring to her being twisted by Tiffany and Co. which is a posh jewelry company. This metaphor's meaning is important
because its points back to theme of desire in which she is consumed by desire for wealth. In line fifty–four, "And she said, 'We are all prisoners here, of
our own device.'" This metaphor is straight–forward as in the women staying at the hotel are prisoners to their wealth and desire. This metaphor is
also another example of theme of desire. The song itself is also a metaphor. The Hotel California is not place, but it represents the California lifestyle
and Hollywood industry with its desire for riches and innocence when first arriving there. The pun on line twenty–eight again represents the theme of
desire. On line twenty–eight, "Mercedes bends." This clever pun could be seen as a misspelling, but it's not. This pun means that the woman gets the
bends (a type scuba–diving sickness from surfacing too fast) from her Mercedes–Benz which means her world–view is distorted by her greed for
wealth. When the speaker first arrives at the

The Song Analysis Of The Song 'Hotel California'
The song "hotel California" The song "hotel California" was released by an artist known as Eagles in 1976. The genre of the song is classic rock. It
was written by Glenn Frey and Don Felder with help of Don Henley. California is the setting of this song, even though it used to relate the entire
America. This song is all about the exaggeration of the American culture and some specific girls in America. In addition, it touches the uneasy balance
between commerce and art in America. "Hotel California" is a metaphor for the LA high–life and the cons and pros of living in the music industry. "
Hotel California" tells the story of a man driving along a super highway. On his way, the man gets tired and decides to stop at a hotel which ends up
being a pleasure palace with a sinister. While listening, a casual listener would tend to think how "lovely place" California might be. The listener
might wish to crash California probably for a weekend, or order for a room service just to enjoy the lovely place, Hoskyns, B. (2006). . But when
someone listens this song keenly, he or she might start wondering if the hotel is as good as Guantanamo or Palm Springs simply because it says,

Strategies And Characteristics Of The Crowned Eagle In Africa
Everyone probably had a thought of being a specific animal for a period of time, perhaps at that moment, she didn't want to be a human being. So she
thought, "A Crowned Eagle would be pretty interesting." Not only does the name sound super cool and fascinating, but it is a large bird of prey, in
other words, it is the most powerful eagle. The Crowned Eagle won't have to have concerns about getting eaten, and mostly food supply. Moreover, the
Crowned Eagle could just enjoy life without having to worry about most of the survival needs. Because the strategies and steps of how the eagle hunts
are fantastically amazing. It even has a partner to support on hunting the fast monkeys. Besides the efficient hunting ability, it also has a strong build–up
body. The Crowned eagle has many firm body parts that will help it to survive, such as the body mass, the strong talons, and the beak length.
Additionally, the flying ability that the Crowned eagle is able to do is beyond expectations. Being a Crowned Eagle is an interesting thought with
combinations of strong hunting skills, the powerful body structure, and the beauty of flying.
The Crowned eagle is the most powerful eagle in Africa, in other words, the Crowned eagle is considered the Africa's strongest predator. It's even

Heading into the second quarter this one looked very even, even though the Eagles offense was yet to soar, while the Indians offense had shown a

Just twenty six seconds into the second quarter Moore fumble the ball and scooping it up and going about fifty–six–yards for the score for the Eagles

With 3:41 it appeared their was pass interference on the Indians receiver, but the ref said the ball was tipped before the interference happened and this
led to a interception by Moore on the pass thrown by Ryan Venable. This play really seem to change the game and in my way of thinking the Eagles
fought hard but never overcame this call.
Defense was big again, with :27 seconds left in the half, when Moore was taken down by #54(Not on the Eagles roster)

My Aspects Of Sports And Sports Events In My Life
The last time I went to a sports event was over a year ago. Reflecting back on that day I had a lot of fun. I have been to many sports events
throughout adolescences into my adult life. Watching the games was not very fun to me. I went because it was recreational and I was able to bond and
enjoy time with whomever I attended the game with. I am very undecided about favorite teams and I am very competitive, so I will watch whatever
team that battles it out.
The day I attended that game, I was off from work and it was sunny and the weather was beautiful. My best friend asked if wanted to go watch the
eagles play. We called about five more friends to come with us and we decided to tailgate. We bought pizzas, and beers and headed down to the
stadium. As we pull up and park we unloaded the food and beers. I brought the football out we ran routes in the parking lot. The game had already
begun but we were having too much fun at the time to pay attention. Once we finished up with the football we started playing cornhole. You play the
game by taking a bean bag and throwing it in your opponent's basket and vice versa. We were preoccupied the entire time we never went into the
stadium to actually watch the football game. None of us even cared because we been many times and we honestly had more fun with each other than
sitting at watching other people play.
As a fan yes, I love football, basketball, baseball and I know people have to be paid and money has to be made, but the

  • 2. Hotel California Poem Analysis "Music as Poetry" Essay The song, "Hotel California", by the Eagles, is a very poetic song that uses imagery, and symbolism to bring out the theme in an indirect way of the speaker's personal issues of life. The Eagles use imagery to set the mood and tone of the song. Along with many aspects of symbolism to input a lot of double meaning throughout the whole song. With both imagery and symbolism incorporated, many fans or people who have heard of this song would believe that the theme of this song is about a lonely traveler trying to break his own temptations. In the first verse of the introduction of the song, imagery is used for the audience to imagine what exactly is being told. As almost as if it was a setting in a play or a scene in a movie. In the first verse the first two set of lines says, "On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair. Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air." (Eagles, Lines 1–2). One can already imagine the speaker driving down a dark desert highway, with his windows rolled down perhaps, and smelling the warm air full of desert flowers, or maybe he is smelling marijuana in the air. This could be because colitas is Spanish slang for a bud of cannabis, but it could also mean desert flowers, (Philpot). These first two lines already sets the mood of a restless traveler who needs a place to stay for the night after a long day of driving. It also hints that there could possibly be drugs or other temptations in this song considering colitas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. 'Greed In The Poem Hotel California' In the lyric poem "Hotel California" by The Eagles, the speaker tells the story of a man succumbing to greed and self–temptation and how he is forever trapped by that greed in a place that is impossible to leave and go back to where he was before. The poem uses the poetic device of symbolism by using the hotel as a place where one goes when trapped by their greed. Once the man has experienced what he wants, he is trapped in a place he cannot leave, shown as a hotel that is impossible to leave in the poem. He begins conflicted about being greedy, ends up enjoying it, but then figures out he's trapped forever by it. The poem begins by telling the story of the man riding down a road when he sees a light in the distance. He sees a girl standing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "They stab it with their steely knives, But they just can't kill the beast," (The Eagles stanza 4, lines 6 and 7). The speaker notes that succumbing to greed is our own fault and that we trap ourselves in our greed. "'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device,'" (The Eagles stanza 4, line 3). The second to last stanza of the poem describes the man trying to escape of his greed. It says he is running for the door, trying to get back to the place he was before. He has realized how badly his greed has ruined his life and tries to go back to being the normal man he was previously. But once people have experienced greediness and what they wanted, it is impossible to get out of the trap they buried themselves in. The poem states that "'...You can check out any time you like, But you can never leave!'" (The Eagles stanza 5, lines 7 and 8). It is impossible to leave the place your greed has trapped you ... • 5. The Eagles As A Backup Band For Linda Ronstadt Better Let Somebody Love you The Eagles started out as any other band would by strumming their guitars and beating the drums in their garage of their parents house. Later, they began their real career as a backup band for Linda Ronstadt. The Eagles began as an all American Rock band in Los Angeles in 1971 by band members Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. The Eagles, being number one in the world in the 70's, have been given awards for their creativity and meaning in their music. "With five number–one singles, six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and six number one albums"(Graff), the Eagles were one of the most successful bands of the 1970s. Their music changed history in their time. Many of their songs on their number one albums got into the "Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs of All Time" list"(Graff). This song Desperado means a lot to me because it played on the album that I used to sing along in the car with my mom and sister when I was a small child. It acts as part of a symbol in the childhood that I so dearly cherish, and long to return to. The song is played on the album "Their Greatest Hits" and has a more country beat to it, which I enjoyed more, than their more rock and roll take on their music. When I sing along to this song, or any song on this album, I am taken back to the days where all the windows were down in my mom's white minivan, blowing my blonde wispy curls in my face, and the heat of the warm sunshine on my skin. (Sieders, 2009). Wild Feeding Habits The Tyto species is unique with their heart–shaped facial disc that reflects sounds waves to the inner ear. This ability allows the nocturnal predator to hunt in complete darkness. These attacks also come as a surprise to their prey, as they are able to perform silent flight with their fringed wing design. (Sieders, 2009). These owls possess a higher metabolic rate, eating more than most other owls. Their diet changes with prey availability rather than a change of season like some animals. In Australia, Sieders (2009) reports that their most common prey is the introduced long–haired rat and the house mouse. Australia has had an infestation problem with these prey species. They have also been recorded eating small mammals, bats, baby rabbits, caterpillars, frogs, lizards, gophers, shrews, and voles. Smaller prey items are swallowed whole while the larger items can be torn into smaller pieces before consumption. (Sieders, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Essay about Hotel California: The Californian Lifestyle "Hotel California" by The Eagles has been the recipient of much speculation since its release in 1976. Although many other interpretations exist including some which claim this song to be referencing drugs, much evidence suggests that "Hotel California" is, at least partly, making a statement about the lifestyle of drug and alcohol users particularly in the large cities of California. As with many songs, duality of meaning exists in "Hotel California." Since "Hotel California" debuted in the seventies, one can understand why the topic would be Californian drug–using lifestyle. "The scare tactics of the 1960s gave way to the contradictory messages of the late '70s and early '80s. Drugs became glamorous, without becoming better understood" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After examining the whole song, one can guess that the song makes the claim that marijuana is a drug that allows easy passage to worse drugs. According to "a 1969 Gallup poll, only 4% of American adults said they had tried marijuana. Thirty–four percent said they didn't know the effects of marijuana, but 43% thought it was used by many or some high school kids" (Robison); therefore, many individuals might not understand that marijuana, as many claim today, leads to usage of more harmful substances. The speaker then sees a shimmering light as if he is about to die which signifies the death of an old life and the birth of a new one. The temptation of drugs becomes too strong, so the speaker has to stop at the Hotel California. The mission bell that sounds contrasts so with the topic of this song that the bell must symbolize the perversion of life by the drug–use in California and elsewhere. "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell," furthers the idea of the death of an old life. Here, the speaker does not really know whether or not his or her new life is going to be enjoyable in the end. As it turns out, the speaker's new life is hell. Then she lights up a candle, or perhaps a joint since the place most likely has electricity in the seventies, and shows the speaker the way. Perhaps the woman is a drug–dealer or a prostitute; ether one could lead a person to a lifestyle full of drugs and alcohol. "Her mind is Tiffany–twisted, she got the Mercedes bends," (The Eagles) ... Although there are differences in literary references to flight among African–American, Hispanic, and American–Indian writers, the common thread among them all is the powerful desire for freedom through flight. To the African American, references to flight almost always exclusively represent freedom. Whether these references are in the form of novels, short stories, poetry, or music, the history of the African's brought to America to serve as slaves is primarily based on the idea of freedom. Just as it is stated in Course Objective 1a, forced participation was brought about by the acquisition of slaves. They did not choose to leave their native home of Africa, nor did they choose to live out their lives as slaves in a foreign country among foreign white people who showed little compassion for their plight. This left slaves feeling trapped and bound, spiritually, and often times physically, therefore "flight is frequently exercised as a means of escape for African Americans from their position of oppression ... However, no matter how much I admire them, I always had a certain fear of them because they give an impression of being distant and scary. However, once I learned how misunderstood they are, the admiration I have for them grew into love. I felt, in many ways, that eagles represent me. They are very strong. They fly alone at a very high altitude away from the other birds and they only interact with other eagles. Although I have a lot of friends, I only feel a connection to those who I feel think the same way that I do, I connect with other eagles only. Like Nola, Ruth was an Osage woman who became a victim of one of the white men who married Native American women to get access to Osage oil wealth. Despite marrying a Native American woman, Tate had no respect to Native Americans. As Yanka Kroumova Krasteva contends, ''Tate constantly takes pictures of the Indians, as if they were archaeological finds. And this is the way he treats his Indian wife'' (55). Tate was a photographer; he used to appear at all significant events in the Indian territory ''standing behind the three– legged stand that held his camera, his head covered with black cloth, his own good eye seeing everything through glass lenses (Hogan, Mean Spirit 58). He used to photograph Native Americans and send their pictures to magazines. Tate first used Ruth as ''a model then as source of income''. (Hogan, Mean Spirit 179). He humiliated and abused her; he did not love her, disliked to be seen with her. They ''seldom went anywhere together, but when they did, he never walked at her side (Hogan, Mean Spirit 134). At the end of Mean Spirit Tate killed Ruth. As a result, Moses shot him dead. In fact, Hogan highlights the oppression inflicted upon women. The effect of the staff–members' behaviour on the "patient's" psychotherapeutic growth, highlights the staff's ignorance and lack of knowingness of their individual responsibility, contributing to the psychopathology of not only the "patients", but also the system as a whole. • 16. The Political Effects Of Traditional Family Values After the cultural revolution of the 1960s caused all of these effects, traditional family values truly became a political manner. Ronald Reagan used the word "family" 17 times in a nationally televised speech, while his opponent, President Ford, called for tax policies to preserve "the family home, the family farm, and the family business." Jimmy Carter worried aloud about the traditional family during his 1976 campaign trial. It could be argued that these politicians were overplaying the family issue, but these issues clearly became political nonetheless. This family issue had presented itself on both the left and the right, and the struggle of both parties during this time period was to assert their own definition of family into mainstream politics. On the left, breadwinner liberalism's approach to family began losing its appeal as real wages stagnated, inflation reached double digits, trade unions weakened, and more families than any other point in American history since World War II depended on two people's incomes. Many Americans, including conservatives, felt as if the liberal approach to restoring the family had failed. Furthermore, women's advocates and feminists affirmed the positive rights of women, called for the expansion of rights of gays and children, and promoted policies that they believed would straighten the economic wellbeing of families. Unfortunately, through the categorization of public college campuses as designated public forums and the implementation of restrictive student conduct codes and debilitating free speech zones, universities are denying students the expression they deserve. While these policies were originally created to protect students, they are now leading to a rising number of student tensions, lawsuits, and constitutional arguments. The Fourteenth Amendment extended this citizen protection to state law by affirming, "no state shall...abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States" (US Const, Amend XIV,В§1). While the Fourteenth Amendment's extension of its protection to state law and the right to free speech are seemingly straightforward, they have proven difficult for courts of law to manage. Free speech has not been given a true legal definition and, as will be discussed in the following paragraph, is more accurately defined by its boundaries and limitations. Courts have struggled for the past century to determine what speech is protected under the First Amendment. Rather than identifying every one of those rights, the Supreme Court ruled the types of speech that are considered unlawful. These include fighting words (which provoke violence), any speech that shows a clear and present danger to the government (such as terrorist threats), and perhaps most importantly hate speech (Langhauser). Hate speech is a slightly more controversial issue because of its overall loose definition. Hate speech is often defined as statements "offending any group based on race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation" (American Bar Association). However, many times courts have found that the simple utterance of hate speech is protected, while the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It lives near rivers and has very sharp talons as well as an extremely sharp beak, which goes along with its scientific name. The sharp talons allow it to catch prey trying to flee from it. It's feet are rather large, and that makes catching moving prey and gripping on to trees much easier. This hawk lives in an environment in which the amount of fish and small mammals is abundant. This helps it because it can also sneak up on its prey and hide from predators. Since it is able to fly very high, they build their nests high up in the trees by the river. This provides its chicks with plenty of protection from predators on the ground. This can also pose a threat for the hawk's chicks since there is a possibility that a chick can fall out of the nest. This is very unlikely to happen, since the mother hawk is always reinforcing the nest with various twigs found along the riverbank once the chicks have hatched, while the male hawk watches over the baby birds or catches food for them. The female river hawk lays the eggs, which must be kept warm and dry in order for the unborn chick to survive. There are over 200 different species of owls and they have all evolved differently but they share some common characteristics. Some environmental adaptations that owls have are silent flight, keen eyesight, and the ability to hunt. Owls have silent flight which helps them catch prey. They also fly without much effort, because their wings are large compared with the size of their bodies. With large wings and a light body one can see an owl fly past but they will most likely not hear them. Because of this owls can carry heavy animals, fly among thick trees, and hover above open fields. Owls have silent flight from fringed feathers that muffle the sound ... He dreamed of acquiring tremendous wealth in Los Angeles, but later realized that there are more important things than money. In their song, Hotel California, originally titled Mexican Reggae, they (The Eagles) express this idea to their audience through lyrics that convey the idea that there are more important things than just possessions, and there are negatives to the "American Dream. The audience in this could be the average person, yet, the rhetorical devices in The Eagles' "Hotel California" are intended to reveal to the audience that there are negatives to the American Dream, and you shouldn't change who you are in order to make it rich. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case Frey uses epithet to describe a hotel in LA. The hotel represents his American dream of wanting to acquire tremendous wealth in the West. He described this dream with admiration when he says "Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim I had to stop for the night." When he uses the term "shimmering light" it is taken as a positive attribute because objects that shimmer are often taken as being valuable, much like the materialistic items associated with the American dream. When he states his sight grew dim and I had to stop for the night, this represents the underbelly of American Materialism. As a country, Americans are never satisfied with what they have. This is why he describes it as dim and heavy, both of which are taken as having negative connotations. Once again Frey represents both sides by using an adjective to modify a noun and make it more clear and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately for him, everything was not as it seems. The song is very light and cheerful in the beginning, hinting at themes of innocence. Although later in the song, the hotel takes on a slightly darker look as the speaker discovers its real purpose. In the song, Hotel California, the use of poetic devices to describe its themes of innocence and desire become prevalent. The poetic devices used throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The metaphors used in the song show this. In line twenty–seven, "Her mind is Tiffany–twisted, [...]." This metaphor means that the woman is obsessed with desire for wealth; referring to her being twisted by Tiffany and Co. which is a posh jewelry company. This metaphor's meaning is important because its points back to theme of desire in which she is consumed by desire for wealth. In line fifty–four, "And she said, 'We are all prisoners here, of our own device.'" This metaphor is straight–forward as in the women staying at the hotel are prisoners to their wealth and desire. This metaphor is also another example of theme of desire. The song itself is also a metaphor. The Hotel California is not place, but it represents the California lifestyle and Hollywood industry with its desire for riches and innocence when first arriving there. The pun on line twenty–eight again represents the theme of desire. On line twenty–eight, "Mercedes bends." This clever pun could be seen as a misspelling, but it's not. The genre of the song is classic rock. It was written by Glenn Frey and Don Felder with help of Don Henley. California is the setting of this song, even though it used to relate the entire America. This song is all about the exaggeration of the American culture and some specific girls in America. In addition, it touches the uneasy balance between commerce and art in America. "Hotel California" is a metaphor for the LA high–life and the cons and pros of living in the music industry. " Hotel California" tells the story of a man driving along a super highway.
