1. What have you learned from
your audience feedback?
- Peter Dixon
2. • By choosing a few hip-hop lovers I could really make my project for
my target audience instead of just myself, it’s good to get a second
opinion on things because when you spend so long on one project
you don’t know if you’ve done it for yourself or if the original
audience will still enjoy this. Almost all of the feedback received was
put into place due to conflicting opinions and as they were our target
audience it was best to please them instead of us.
3. Music Video
• We started by showing them a animatic of our music video, after the
obvious comments of the drawing they believed the idea would work
and that the one shot camera work was quite innovative. Later on we
showed them a flat recording of the video and they added certain lip
syncing parts and I also added in the flashes on some of the beats and
they preferred it that way, also making the transitions as smooth as
possible between each frame they approved of so lots of extra time
was put into making sure each frame went smoothly into the next.
• The final video was approved by them and then we went on to the
ancillary tasks with the same group, some of our focus group also
featured in the video themselves because that way they could
instantly say if something should’ve been different.
4. Digipak
• After the music video came the digipak, because the digipak I found
quite hard to plan for the focus group was very useful was incredibly
useful for this part, but they instantly liked our first idea over all
others so we went for that one and some of the little font changes
and a few minor scale adjustments also were referred to the focus
group, and it made the digipak a lot more accurate for the look we
were going for an it also appealed to our focus group and that’s what
matters, the colour scheme they also approved of as it links to other
things and they also believed that the use of photography and
photoshop made the album look professional.
5. Website
• Due to our genre having pretty simple websites it was easy to show
ideas to our focus group and all that really needed to be considered
was the colour scheme and layout as they all agreed that all of the
ancillary tasks and main task should be featured on the website to
showcase all tasks and link together everything, they thought this was
a good idea and so we used it. The original plans were followed
slightly but the focus group had a more simplified plan and we went
with the group’s thoughts as we understood simpler websites will be
better for our target audience.
6. Overall
• In the end we wouldn’t of been able to create all of our projects and
refine each of them without the aid of our focus group, so by having
them there it helped immensely. Our ideas would have been
completely different if we hadn’t used one and I will use a focus
group in any future project I do.
