1. For our assignment we had to get into groups of three, four or five and we had to
think of a short film that we could film, in my group there was me, Sean, Callum ,Will
and Dan. We all had to write a synopsis of a short film out of them all one was
chosen, because we was in a group we decided to film my short film called 666
which is about a man going on a jog and finding a mobile phone. Then he starts to
get phone calls telling him to put the phone back and warning him about what would
happen if he didn’t put it back.
Our next task was to give the group roles out this was very easy on who had what
role because we already had an idea on what we wanted to be, I was the director of
the film because I wrote about it, Callum was the main actor in the film because he
was the only one that wanted to be an actor, Will was the co-director in case I
wasn’t in when we planned on filming, Sean was the cameraman because he wanted
to be the cameraman and we decided he was going to have that role and Dan was
the co-cameraman in case Sean wasn’t in to film we decided on these roles because
we all have different skills when it comes to working in a group. For the storyboard
we had to draw what the characters were doing in that specific scene and also had
to write what was happening and had to write and describe the camera shots. For
the script we had to write about what actions the actor had to do and what they had
to say.
At first we started filming bad as we didn’t know how to film then as the days went
on the filming started to grow and we started to become better and better at filming
, because we filmed with different filming equipment it was in different settings so
while I was editing I learnt how to scale which is enlarging the scene to look like the
other scenes, At the end of the film the character gets shot so because we didn’t
have a gun we added in a gunshot sound effect to make it sound like the character
got shot.
During our filming process I learnt that it is better to work in groups because
everyone has a specific skill that the other people didn’t have and while we was
working in a group we learnt different skills from different skills. While we was
filming some of the group members weren’t in so on some days we couldn’t film like
I went on holiday for 2 weeks so I wasn’t there to direct, on other days Sean wasn’t
in and Callum didn’t bring the correct clothes. If I was to re do the whole project I
would plan it out more and make sure we had everything ready the day before we
was filming.
