2. Aims of the Brief
The class was given unit 2 and 3 which is a media production where in the media production
we had to plan our horror film this is where we then researched other horror films and
analysed them and got ideas from them to then make our own horror film based on stranger
danger and how to be aware and to prevent it from there we started planning what we
could/maybe add to get the reader's attention and to know what interests them in the horror
genre but at the same time be different and not copy other horror film
3. Aims for the brief
The production met the requirements since we had to film a horror film about warning
teenagers about the dangers of social media and talking to strangers and how to prevent it
from happening which are film shows the dangers of meeting someone you don't know and
trusting them straight away and the consequences of it and i feel like it would attract the age
group of 14-16 year olds since it is a horror film based in school which could draw/ attract
people
4. Planning
For the planning we all done something.
We first talked about what we wanted to do after we got that sorted one of the team members
then started writing the script so we had a clear idea on what to do next. Then from the script
we managed to get everything else like the storyboard. The camera shot list we talked about
what shots we think would go well for the scene or what shot the script writer wanted for that
scene/shot. We all took part in doing something in the group
5. Planning - Pre Production
For the filming I filmed the part where Josh got the baseball bat and dragged the bat up the
railing to create this sound effect to create suspense.
It creates suspense because it shows something is about to happen it creates a sense or tension
like what is he going to do with the bat and it gives them that sense like he is the killer he is
the one who has been killing people around the neighbourhood it gives them that sense of
realisation
6. Strengths
The strengths of the film were that we managed to work well in a team and we all managed to
do one task and discuss in a group what we want to do so we worked well in a team now and
then we did disagree with things but we got passed it.
The film somewhat related with brief because we did try and relate to it
With the roles of the character it was easy because the characters related to their actual
personality so it wasn't that hard
For me i think i managed to play the characters personality well
7. Areas of improvements
When we were about to film everything we then last minute had to change our entire plan and
start from scratch again because we could not take the cameras out of school so we discussed
the whole thing again and had to film it in school.
We started the whole film again with no actual planning no script no camera shot ideas or
anything and started filming which also once again was very unorganised
With the camera the Caitlin with the camera kept shaking the camera she did not have a
steady hand with it and she did not really know how to use the camera to start off with and
Josh had to keep helping her out every time. In one of the scene she zoomed too far into my
face
For me I think there was too much background noise and I could of talked louder so that you
could actually hear some things I was saying
8. Evaluation
For my film my project involved me to create a film to the genre of horror based on being aware of strangers
and how to prevent it from happening to you but whilst planning the film we thought about our target
audience what they would like to see and what will get their attention. The genre i chose was horror which i
then tried to target towards 14-16 year olds because i had to make a film about being safe online for young
teens and things that will appeal to them.
To help with the film we as a group planned what we wanted to do beforehand and all of us pitched in
different ideas. The target audience are 14-16 year old males and females we added ideas that we found
interesting since we were around that age group.
To plan the overall film we done the planning and discussing i made the camera shot list so i had to look
through the script and pick out the key themes from the script on what i think is important and pick a camera
shot for them
During the production process we changed the whole plan and had to make a whole different one based inside
of school and not outside of school but when we changed the whole script we did not do any planning or
anything we just went straight into it.
