Thomas Roberts produced a documentary and discusses how he integrated hardware, software, and online resources throughout the process. He began by researching other documentaries online to help plan his hybrid expository/reflexive genre film. In the planning stage, he took photos with hardware and used Google Docs and Instagram to collaborate. During shooting, he used a Canon 7D camera, iPhone, and tripod, integrating online apps. In editing with Premiere Pro, he used YouTube tutorials. He created a website using Wix and surveyed participants online with Survey Monkey. YouTube tutorials helped with all stages of production.

2. Researching for documentary
Before the production stage I used many
online platforms such as youtube netflixs
and short of the week. This was to gain an
understanding of how to plan out the
documentary and help with the production
side. I researched all types of genres and
then decided mine would be a hybrid genre
of reflexive and expository. For me this
stage was the most vital stage as it will
pan out the whole documentary and now
looking back I feel I unconsciously picked
up small techniques from the different
types of documentary
3. PLANNING STAGE
Once I had chosen the genre and what I wanted it based on (theme), this included going to meet the
designers and planning and planning how it would work out. This included instagram and google docs of
ideas. I integrated hardware and software into this by taking pictures of the studio and planning the
documentary with the photos I had.
4. SHOOTING FOR THE DOCTUMENTARY
HARDWARE
SOFTWARE
Online
Iphone, canon 7D and tripod.
Software used
I used a canon 7d to shoot my documentary fashion faggot, I often
experimented using handheld and then also with the gimbal. The tripod was
helpful when shooting interviews. I integrated hardware soft ware into the
project by using photoshop primarily for the poster Howard I integrated
hardware of canon dslr camera for the image, I used instagram and WhatsApp
these are both online apps to communicate with the designers to shoot there
image. For the website I used wix as my software, youtube as my online
tutorials to help and hardware such as dslr camera and iPhone.
5. Tripod
I used tripod to ensure the interviews were
framed correctly and are still as my
documentary was primarily interview based this
helped me get the write footage. Even in this
stage of using hardware I included online to
this by looking up youtube tutorials on how to
use the tripod.
6. Canon 7D
When shooting the documentary I used
the canon 7d to shoot, this was the
main product of my film and I
incorporated software and online before
and after using the 7D. I used the
canon 7d tutorials on youtube and used
premiere pro software edit and do
some test shoots.
7. EDITING
My first task after the shoot day was importing into
my software premiere pro. One of my biggest
challenges I faced was to ensure all the shots were
in focus and then was chopping them up and
getting the narrative right. I incorporated online
media such as youtube tutorials to ensure that the
edits I made were refined and to learn different
techniques.

was my main source of information for all three
media products.
