2. Question
• Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt
in progression from it to
full product?
3. Preliminary Task
• The Preliminary Task required me to focus on three
individual camera shots. These were:
• 1) Match on Action
• 2) Shot/Reverse Shot
• 3) 180 Degree Rule
• In the Preliminary Task, I focused on using basic camera
shots to achieve the objective of continuity in the story
line I had produced.
4. Preliminary Task
From these screenshots of my
Preliminary Task, it shoes that the
range of shots were basic. The pictures
show a ‘Close-up’ , ‘180 Degree Rule’
and ‘A medium/long shot’
5. Opening Sequence
• The Opening Sequence Task is a task which involves
me thinking of a story line to be the opening titles to
a film.
• This would require me to use a more vast range of
camera shots than I did in my Preliminary Task.
• I will need an appropriate soundtrack to go over
the top of the film.
6. Opening Sequence
These three images are screenshots
from my opening sequence. These
include: An establishing shot, An over
the shoulder shot and a low angle shot.
Here, it seems apparent that I have
used a range of different camera
angles to enhance both the media
product but the audience
satisfaction with better visuals to be
seen.
7. Characters and Script
• Preliminary Task – In the Preliminary Task, I used two
characters whereby one was male and the other was female.
The story line was that the male character was confused
about what to include into his media studies project and I
based it on exactly how I felt before filming the task as I was
frantically looking for ideas on what to use as a story line. The
female character tells the male character to use the
conversation they have at that moment in time as his story line
for his media studies project. This task was mainly dialogue
based.
8. Characters and Script
• Opening Sequence – My Opening Sequence consists of
four male characters who get dressed up for a night out of
clubbing. There is no dialogue at all in this as I preferred non-
diegetic sound in the form of music and soundtrack to be over
the top as an introduction to the film to see the characters I
action. The audience see the characters putting their suits on
and walking out of their houses towards their cars. The
audience never see the cars or where they go.
9. Conclusion
• The Preliminary Task required full attention on the
three main camera shots where as the Opening
Sequence wanted to see a variety of different
camera angles and shots just like what would be
seen in a real film made by a film studio.
• I feel there is a lot more of an improvement from the
Preliminary Task to the Opening Sequence in the
form of editing, camera shots, sound, props and
organisation.
