This is a technique that was developed in china. It is a technique that is used for printing words, images
and patterns. This method remained common for printing books, text and images in east Asia until the
19th century. The European use of the technique for printing images onto paper is covered by the term
known as woodcut.

3. MOVABLE TYPE
This type of is know as the system and technology of printing and typography. It uses it movable
components and remakes the elements of a document. The first movable type was made ceramic
porcelain china that were made in ancient china. This movable had the purpose of printing out paper
books.
4. PRINTING PRESS
This is a device applies pressure to an inked surface that is resting on a print medium and transfers the
ink. This inventions is most commonly used for text. This is one of the most influential events in the
second millennium. This was made and based on existing screw presses.
This device was created by a German named Johannes Gutenberg in1440.
Without the printing press there would not be books, magazines or newspapers. The printing press
made sheets of paper with inked words clear for the reader to see.
5. ETCHING
This is a process where a metal surface is being cut through to create a design with either a strong acid
or mordant. There may also be other chemicals used on other types of metals in modern manufacturing.
This method remains in use to this day in more modern techniques/variants like microfabrication and
photochemical milling.
This process made different decorative designs that are used for aesthetic purposes and were also sold.
6. MEZZOTINT
This is a printmaking process and was the first tonal method to be used. This technique allows half-tones
to be produced without the use of a line or dot-based technique. The tonality is achieved by covering
the plate with thousands of little dots. These dots a made by a metal tool called a rocker.
7. AQUATINT
This is a intaglio printmaking technique that is a variant to etching. This technique has the artist make
marks on the plate that can hold ink. Then there is a printing process both the plate and a sheet of paper
go through in order to transfer in onto the sheet. This can be repeated numerous times.
With this technique being a variant to etching it is also used to create images with ink.
8. LITHOGRAPHY
This is a method where they print form a stone or a metal plate that has a smooth surface on it.
Lithography can also be used to print text and artwork. The technique was invented by a German author
and actor. Originally this technique used an image drawn out of either oil, fat or wax on the surface of a
smooth plate called lithographic limestone.
