APERTURE AND SHUTTER
APERTURE
• An aperture is a little hole that light travels through this helps
focus on the image. The more narrow the aperture is the more
of a sharp focus you have on the image.
• There are different size apertures the image shows a large
f/2.8 and a small f/16.
jpg
F-STOPS
• The f-stop is an endless number the numerously measures the
lens speed this is a important part of photography. This stop is
meant to half to light intensity from the stop before it
• f-stops are also a factor the affect depth of field.
number#/media/File:Lens_aperture_side.jpg
SHUTTER
• This allows light to the pass through a certain space in order
for a photographer to take a permanent image. Shutter speed is
controlled by the ring on the outside of the camera.
• This is also used to control the time of exposure of the film.
The faster the shutter speed the less time the image is exposed
to light the slower the speed the more time it is exposed.
DEPTH OF FIELD
• This is the farthest and nearest objects in the shot that appear
really clear. This is also called focus range or effective focus
range.
• This puts more of an enthlasis on the object and less on the
foreground and the background all the focus of the image is on
a certain point or object.
DEPTH OF FIELD EXAMPLE
• This image shows depth of filed as it focus on the light bulbs
covered in water while blurring out the background of what
appears to be a jungle or a forest.
• The image pays close detail to the water droplets falling from
the light bulbs.
field/
SHALLOW DEPTH OF FIELD EXAMPLE
• This image has completely blurred out the background making
the girl in the image/portrait the main objective. The blurred
out background makes the main focus of the image the girl.
• The focus of this example is on one point not three like the
normal depth of field.
depth-of-field-in-your-digital-photos/
FAST SHUTTER SPEED EXAMPLE
• This image has a fast shutter speed because of how clear the
image turned out. You can clearly see the figure of the dolphin
and the splash of the water as it jumps.
• There is also one clear dolphin in the shot.
photography
SLOW SHUTTER SPEED EXAMPLE
• This is a slow shutter speed image due to the fact the cars in
the image a blurred out and you can only see a light trail from
them.
• Slow shutter speed images also make it look like there is more
then one of an object or living thing.
examples-of-slow-shutter-speed-photography.html
IMAGE COMPARISON
LANDSCAPE IMAGE
• The depth of field is lower in this image because everything is
pretty easy to see and examine. They only thing that is difficult
to see is the person due to how far the image was taken from
him and the environment taking up the shot.
• The shot also shows a vast area of the landscape going on for
miles capturing the ground clouds and more.
FENCE IMAGE
• This image uses depth of field to show a clear picture of the
fence up close with a blurred out faint shape of a desk that is in
the background. The desk can only be seen due to the light of
the image.
• The fence also gets blurry to see the further it extends.
