What you will see in this presentation
• In this presentation you will see;
• 1. Types of cameras
• 2. Camera mounts
• 3. Sound equipment
• 4. Frame rates and camera settings
• 5. Camera lenses
A drone is mainly used in films for
different shots of actors in scenes, these
include shots like close shots and high
angle shots. Drones also provide
different Ariel perspectives in high angle
shots; it also gives the audience a visual
experience of a bird's eye view. Drones
are also useful for filmmakers because
they give a view in which different
camera operators and helicopters can't
go. You can also allow Bluetooth onto
most drones. This means that you can
connect things like your phone to a
drone so you can see the view of the
drone through your phone. You can
download an app on your phone which
allows you to use a drone on your phone.
You can enter flight mode on a drone
which means that the GPS and other
positional features are disabled on the
drone. This can be beneficial because it is
done completely manually. You can also
enter approachable flight mode which
means that objects will be detected
automatically by the drone, and it will
either stop or dodge objects.
A smartphone camera can
be useful to capture in the
moment content. This can
be useful because of how
easily accessible they are
and how quick you can
access your camera. This is
also because of their
compact size, accessibility
and decent image quality.
You can also find different
apps with different
accessories including lenses
and camera stabilizes.
A camcorder can be
useful for high quality
footage. this can range
from high to ultra-high
definition. They can also
zoom well with built in
calibrated zoom lenses
and focus on the camera
more with autofocuses
systems. A camcorder is
also used mainly for
films and television
shows that require high
quality footage.
DSLR cameras are useful
because they can be
versatile and can adapt
easily to different lenses
and attachments like
tripods. They also have a
high battery life so you
can use them for a long
time without running
out of charge. They also
have a high shooting
speed with better
autofocusing. The main
advantage of a
DSLR camera is their
speed and
responsiveness.
A prosumer camera is
useful because it allows
more control for the
camera when it comes to
focus. This means that you
can practice special
effects like the use of
depth of field. This is
harder to use for
automatic cameras. In
basic terms, the prosumer
camera allows you to
access more features to
the control of the user.
This allows the user to
make more decisions
about operating the
camera.
A jib is useful for
getting either high
shots or low shots. This
is because they are
difficult for a handheld
camera operator to
get. You can also get
shots which need to
move a short distance
vertically or
horizontally without
the expense of safety
issues and of putting a
camera operator on a
crane. It can also be
used for a variety of
shots such as,
overhead shots and
360-degree shots.
A tripod can be useful for
both motion and
still photography to
prevent camera movement
and to provide
stability. They are also
mainly used for slow speed
exposures. I tripod is
better than I handheld
camera because it means
there will be less blur in
the video because
the camera is still
and isn't shaky. I tripod
is also helpful because
it can be adjusted in
size. This is good because
if you need a higher
angle shot you can adjust
the tripod so you can get
a clear shot for higher
or low angle shots.
Crane shots are often used to
capture emotional or
suspenseful scenes, or to zoom
out from the set or characters to
signify the end of a film. A crane
shot is also any shot from a
camera mounted on a robotic
crane. Cranes are also capable of
lifting the camera high in the air.
This means that it can do
different shots that different
camera mounts can't do like
dollys and tripods.
Dolly shots are a television and
filmmaking technique that
helps directors and
cinematographers add depth
to a scene. A camera dolly
system makes it possible to
achieve smooth camera
movements and create
cinematic effects that can bring
a new layer to a film
production.
A slider is useful because it
gives you the ability to shoot
tracking shots that can be
executed in a short amount of
time. Sliders can also be used
to create reveal shots. A
reveal shot is a shot which
exposes more of a scene.
They also provide a smooth
and stable lateral movement
which makes your shot more
cinematic.
Boom Poles are a common piece of sound
equipment. They allow you to position the mic close
to the subject the same time as staying out of the
shot. It will also be out of the actor's way at the
same time, and they won't be distracted by the
boom pole and won't be easily distracted as it isn't
in their way. They are also highly directional; this
means that they pick up sound from a far distance.
Microphone- A microphone is useful for picking up
higher quality sound when filming still videos like
vlogs and podcasts. They are usually used for picking
up sound from the film and not background sound.
They are mainly used in filming because you can get
small variants of microphones which you can attach
to an actor so you can hear them better and you can
see it when they are acting.
25 FPS- This will mean
that the camera can
record 25 frames in 1
second. 25 frames per
second will mainly be
used in standard TV
shows and films as it is
the most natural to the
human eye. It is also the
most realistic and will
improve the spectator
experience.
30 FPS. This means 30
frames available in one
second. This is most popular
for TV broadcasts and soap
operas so the audience can
understand more what they
are viewing. This is most
important for live viewing as
they must report key
information through visual
footage. This is important as
the audience need to see
what they are talking about.
60 FPS- This means 60
frames are visual in one
second. This setting is most
popular in live sports
events because it takes
away the blur on the
screen, so the game is
easier to view. Also, 60 FPS
allows the audience to
view slow motion replays in
a much better quality. This
is important so different
sport fans can see clips of
the game clearer and have
their own opinion on the
matter.
Aperture- Aperture means
the width of the lens and
how much light it allows in.
It is measured in F/stops
which means the higher the
aperture, the wider the lens
will be which allows the
light to come through
Shutter speed- Shutter speed means
the speed in which the shutter
closes. This means that if the shutter
speed is fast then there will be less
exposure to light. This means the
opposite occurs so the slower the
shutter speed the more exposure to
light will occur. It is measured in
fractions. The higher the fraction
means the better the quality.
ISO- ISO means the
sensitivity of the
camera lens changes
depending on how dark
or how bright the photo
is. This means that the
lower the ISO is the
higher darker the
image.
Fisheye lens- The fisheye
lens allow you to create and
capture a distorted view on
the world. It is used in still
photography and video
recordings. You can also get
adapters on your
smartphone which enables
you to capture photos using
a fisheye lens on your
camera. It is also easy to
capture large crowds
because of the quality it
produces
18-55 mm lens- The 18-55
mm lens is best known for
its versatility. This is because
it is wide angled and is good
for landscaped shots. The
short-range shots range
between 18-35mm. The
medium range shots range
between 35-50mm and the
long-range shots range
between 50-55mm. It is
good for street view footage
and portraits.
Portrait lens- A portrait
lens has the focal length
and aperture to create
good portrait photos.
Despite being good for
portrait lenses, you can
also use other lenses for
portrait shots.
Macro lens- A macro
lens is very useful for
short distances shots
and sharp shots. It is
also useful when you are
taking shots of short
subjects. It is also useful
because you can take
short distances shots
from a normal distance
whereas other cameras
would require the
personnel to move
closer to the subject
Telephoto lens- The
telephoto lens is
useful for taking
shots of subjects
that are further
away. This could be
useful when you are
taking photos of
things that you
don’t want to get
close to or can make
you more at ease in-
front of the camera.
