2. PROPS
• We only used backpacks, a camera prop and the
symbol. We tried to keep the props to a minimal
as we didn't want the audience to focus on the
props too much. We wanted a lot of attention on
the characters and the symbol. The symbol is one
of the main props, the symbol is used to create
enigma as nobody knows what it means or why it
is there. The audience know that the symbol
creates danger so we constantly make the symbol
appear in the trailer.
3. SETTING/LOCATION
• We set the trailer in the woods. It was a dark
rainy day so this was to our advantage as we
wanted the setting to look as dull and dark as
possible. As we couldn't film the trailer in the
dark we had to edit it. It was fairly easy to do as
we could make it either a lot darker or a lot
lighter. WE chose the woods as the setting as this
is the same as the Blair witch also it creates
enigma as nobody else knows what is in the
woods. The woods is often associated with horror
movies as it creates an eary atmosphere.
4. LIGHTING AND CHARACTERS
• We did not use any artificial lighting when we were filming,
we only used artificial lighting when we were taking
pictures for the magazine and the poster. Using strong
lighting enables the audience to see facial features. We
only used natural lighting when we were filming.
• We decided to use 4 teenage girls in our teaser trailer. They
are students who are content on finding out what is going
on in the woods. As we used girls we were able to over
exaggerate screams to scare the audience. The characters
are dressed in average clothes which is similar to the Blair
witch project. This makes it seem a lot more realistic. We
tried to make the characters look as normal as possible, by
doing this it makes the audience feel that it could happen
to anyone of them.
