3. What is HIV/ AIDS
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks
the body’s immune system. If HIV is not treated, it can
lead to AIDS.
There is currently no effective cure. Once people get HIV,
they have it for life.
But with proper medical care, HIV can be controlled.
People with HIV who get effective HIV treatment can live
long, healthy lives and protect there partners
5. How do people get affected from
HIV/AIDS
HIV is caused by a virus. It can spread through sexual contact, illicit
injection drug use or sharing needles, contact with infectedblood, or from
mother to childduring pregnancy, childbirth,or breastfeeding. HIV
destroys CD4T cells----- White blood cells plays a large role in helping your
body fight disease

Get tested for HIV.
Choose less risky sexual behaviour
Use condoms every time you have sex
Get tested and treated for STDs
Do not injects drugs
Talk to your health care provider about pre-
exposure prophylaxis

program for HIV AIDS prevention
NACP provides free HIV counselling and testing services (HCTS) for early
detection of HIV infection
Free counselling and testing of pregrent women are also provided at these
facilities toward prevention of parents to childtransmissionof HIV
The NACO interventionare aimedto controlling the spread of HIV and STI
through increasing awareness about their transmission and prevention

The global target of HIV status awareness is 95% by 2025. HIV
treatment Axis as of the end of 2022, 29.8 million people with HIV(
76% of all people with) were accessing antiretroviral therapy

AIDS as a public health threat.
Global prevalence among adults (the percent of people age 15
to 49 who are infected) has leveled since 2001 and was 0.7% in
2022 there will 39 million people living with HIV in 2022 up from
