2. • Planning and executing the welder's qualification test as per ASME Section IX, reviews welder performance
qualification records; ensuring welders are qualified for the work being performed on per job basis
• Analyzing the coating failure for identifying the cause and conducting the appropriate remedies
• Conducting:
o Periodic inspection for ensuring use of correct welding procedure specification and following the in
process requirements such as fit-ups, pre-heat and so on
o Visual welding inspection during the various welding stages, mark defects prior to any other non-
destructive examination
• Contributing in the:
o Maintenance of performance & inspection records and other related documents ensuring correctness of
all documents
o Processing compiling responses to internal personnel and the client in regards to NCRs, Corrective
Action Reports (CARs), Quality Surveillance Reports (QSRs) and Preventive actions Reports (PARs)
• Ensuring:
o All the necessary equipment to be in proper working condition and that the calibration is valid
o Adherence to inspection test plans (ITP’s) as well as all hold/ witness/ review points and acquiring of
all required signatures
• Tracking:
o Welder/ welder operator performance for proper use of approved welding procedures as well as
consistency in use of preferred fabrication methods and overall quality of workmanship
o The control, issue and storage of welding electrodes
• Witnessing:
o Welding of AISI 4130 low alloy steel requires preheating of 200 C & post heating of 300 C afterᵒ ᵒ
completion of welding for avoiding formation of crack for right practice (not specified in Sec IX-API 6A)
o Overlay on flange face after machining on AISI 4130 forged bar; conducting PWHT after penetrant test
• Checking:
o Hardness on overlay and MPI on body of machined componunts (API 6A)
o Blasting and painting activities on both internal & external surface of HCL Acid Tank, Surge tank &
Water filter manifold and so on
• Verifying:
o All NDT completion prior to releasing for hydro test
o Hydrotest arrangements completion for compliance to code & client requirement including test fluid,
duration, gauge range and calibration
