APEDA is an export promotion organization established in 1985 under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries. It is responsible for promoting and developing exports of agricultural and processed food products. APEDA has a head office in New Delhi and regional offices located in major agro potential states. It works to develop industries, undertake surveys, provide financial assistance, register exporters, inspect facilities, improve packaging and marketing, and collect export statistics for scheduled agricultural products. APEDA's main functions are to promote exports of products like fruits, vegetables, cereals, spices, meat and dairy. It organizes international trade exhibitions and provides various financial assistance schemes to support export development.

Development of industries relating to the scheduled products for export by
way of providing financial assistance
Undertaking surveys and feasibility studies, participation in enquiry capital
through joint ventures and other reliefs and subsidy schemes;
Registration of persons as exporters of the scheduled products;
Carrying out inspection of meat and meat products in slaughter houses,
processing plants, storage premises.
