Crop Science: This Division has 6 commodity/subject-
specific technical sections, namely, (i) Food and
Fodder Crops, (ii) Oilseeds and Pulses, (iii) Commercial
Crops, (iv) Seeds, (v) Plant Protection, and (vi)
Intellectual Property Rights.
• This Division has 13 national institutes including one
deemed-to-be-university, 3 bureaus, 9 project
directorates, 2 national research centres, 27 all-India
coordinated research projects, and 5 all-India network
projects

Horticultural Science: The Horticulture (fruits
including nuts, vegetables including potato,
tuber crops, mushroom, ornamental plants
including cut flowers, spices, plantation crops
and medicinal and aromatic plants).
• This Division has 10 Central Institutes, 6
Directorates, 7 NRCs, 13 AICRPs and 6 Network

12. Agricultural Engineering: Development and demonstration of
technologies related to mechanization of production and
post-production agriculture using conventional and non-
conventional energy sources and includes mechanization of
irrigation and drainage activities; and post-harvest and value
addition of agricultural products and by products.

30. Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB)
• It was established in 1 November 1973
• Recruitment to posts in the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of the ICAR and to such
other posts and services that the President, ICAR, may specify from time to time.
• Rendering such other assistances to the Council in personnel matters, including
promotion, as may be required by the President, ICAR.
• Advising the Council on disciplinary matters relating to personnel recruited through
ASRB or appointed by the Council in consultation with the Board.
• Recruitment to entry level scientific positions of the ARS through an All-India
Competitive Examination.
• Induction of existing scientists of the ICAR to ARS under the initial constitution of ARS.
• Assessment for merit promotion and grant of advance increments to scientists of the
ARS.
• To conduct National Eligibility Test, which is a prerequisite for the initial recruitment as
Assistant Professor/Lecturer in the State Agricultural Universities.
• Recruitment to posts in the combined cadres of Administrative Officers/Finance &
Accounts Officers of the ICAR which are required to be filled by direct recruitment.
