support that Romans and Greeks used to play ball for fun and frolic. Types of soccer leagues are FIFA world cup, FIFA Women s world cup, FIFA u

Soccer 's Influence On Soccer
Do you know how soccer started and when it started? Soccer has a very interesting history and how it came around to be the sport it is today. Some
researchers have said that the history of soccer has dated back more than 2,000 years ago. Soccer has evolved so much over the years. According to
Athletic Scholarships, (2016), the main idea about this subject is how soccer originated and who the first person to create the sport was. There are
240 million people around the globe that play the game of soccer. Soccer has changed from kicking a rudimentary animal–hide ball into kicking the
balls that people use today. Records have brought the history of soccer all the way back more than 2,000 years ago. The countries the game of soccer...

England was the first to have some type of governing body. During the past centuries, there have been dozens of different games, and which the
historical development of football has been traced back. Even a long time ago, people recognized the controlling of the ball to be hard. One of the
first forms of soccer dated back to China. It was called Tsu Chu and it was played with a leather ball filled with feathers and hair through an opening.
There was a small net fixed onto long bamboo cones. They were only able to use their feet, back, chest, and shoulders. Another form of soccer was
called the Japanese Kemari. It began around 500–600 years later and can still be found today. Players had to stand in a circle passing a ball to each
other, in a small space, trying not to let it touch the ground. In conclusion, there are so many different forms of soccer and different styles of soccer
has made it the game it is today. According to Mark Stewart, (Stewart 15) International soccer took a long time to become a real thing and now it is
very popular. The first international soccer game would take place in the Olympic games. The first modern Olympics were held in Athen, Greece, in
1896. Soccer had its first chance to play in the Olympics in 1900 at Paris, France. Soccer was the first team sport allowed into the Olympics. When

Soccer's Lack of Success in the U.S. Essay
Soccer's Lack of Success in the U.S.
Soccer, or football, which the rest of the world outside of the United States calls it, is surely the most popular sport in the world. Every four years,
the world championships of soccer, the World Cup, is watched by literally billions all over the world, beating out the Untied States professional
football's Super Bowl by far. It is estimated that 1.7 billion television viewers watched the World Cup final between France and Brazil in July of 1998.
And it is also a genuine world championship, involving teams from 32 countries in the final rounds, unlike America's baseball World Series that
involves only the United States. But although soccer has become an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyone who has attended a live football game knows how commercial time–outs slow the game and sometimes, at its most exciting moments, disrupt
the flow of events. There is no doubt that without television definitely would not stay the same in the homes and hearts of Americans. Also, without the
money from advertising, the teams couldn't afford the sky–high salaries of their superstars.
Soccer, on the other hand, except for its halftime break, has no time–outs and is constant run, run, run, back and forth, relentlessly, with only a few
seconds of relaxation when a goal is scored, and that happens two or 3 times in a normal game, sometimes never scoring in a game. The best that
commercial television can hope for is an injury timeout and that is only when a player is very seriously injured.
Another reason is Americans love their violence, and soccer doesn't have the violence that American football and soccer have. There is some violence,
yes, but Americans can't expect the the bone–crushing hits in football, and the knockout punch fights in hockey, game after game. In soccer, players
are actually singled out and warned with embarrassing "yellow cards" for acts of violence

The Roll Of A Leader
Dominic Harris
Nash, Becknell

The roll of a leader is more than basically holding an initiative position or being able to lead. Everybody is fit for being a leader, yet not everybody
practices their initiative capacities. Every individual 's concept of initiative is distinctive. My idea of leadership has developed over time, and being a
member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and Grace College men's soccer team has helped me develop my philosophy of leadership
rapidly than what it was four years ago. According John Carter, Director of the Indiana Olympic Development Program, "ODP is a national program,

I have such respect for me parents so I work hard to not forget what they taught me at home. So when I play with ODP I learn to understand other

am being led by other so I try to work harder to set a good leading example with other around me.
My own philosophy of authority is the ability to impact change through showing others how it is done, taking activity, and inspiring others. There
have been numerous things that have affected my theory of initiative. Something that has affected me as leader is this values I life by now. One of
my center values is responsibility. As a leader, it is vital I comprehend what to do and what is anticipated from me. When I am dependable as a
leader, those I am attempting to lead are all the more ready to do what I request that they do. Another of my values is respect. Previously, I am
constantly pleasant and listen to the thoughts of others regardless of the fact that they are not the least demanding individuals to be around. I would
say, it has been simpler to procure the admiration of my constituents and respect them as well. My central beliefs will continue to influence my
behavior as a leader in the future to come. The development of my leadership philosophy has also been a result of watching my leaders. One leader
that has affected me a lot has been my father. I never

Why Americans Hate Soccer Research Paper
Why Americans Hate Soccer Why do Americans hate soccer? Is it because were are not the best at it? There are many factors. Soccer has had a
rough time in the United States. People didn't really see it as a major sport until 1994 when the USA hosted the FIFA World Cup. Befor this, there
wasn't a even a professional league. With the terms of hosting, the United States had to form a league. In 1993, Major League Soccer was formed. It
took a few years to catch on, but is now at an all time high. To find the real core of the hatred, we need to look back at the history of sports and the
role soccer has played in the United States.
Soccer was brought to the United States around the 1850s. I was first played in New Orleans by English, German, Scottish and Irish settlers seeking
a better life and more opportunity in the United States. Back then, soccer was played with 25 players a side. In current rules, you get 11 players a side
(including a goalkeeper). In 1884, soccer in the United States took a major step in the founding of the American Football Association. As you can see,
they didn't call it soccer back then. They only started calling it soccer around the 1920s. This was because it was often confused with American Football.

own tournament that quickly became bigger and better that the American Cup. For these reasons, the American Cup was ended. The AAFA regrouped
and formed the USFA (United States Football Association). This lead to constant arguing and one upping between the USFA and the ASL (American
Soccer League). Soccer then went into a nearly 30 year dark period when soccer was almost

It 's the World Cup andDavid Beckham is playing brilliantly against Argentina. In the second half, Beckham was fouled by midfielder, Digeo
Simeone, who rammed him in the back and knocked him down. Beckham, while still lying on the ground, retaliated in anger with a kick, right in front
of the referee.
He was kicked out and England was forced to play with only 10 men the rest of the game. They ended up losing in a penalty shoot out.
Beckham 's momentary loss of control cost England its chance to win the most important game of the year.
Being able to maintain control is one of the most important tools an elite athlete can possess and it is one of the secrets to mental toughness. It is a
secret because most athletes think the opponent is on the other team...
The truth is the real opponent is you vs. you and your mind. Any loss of control can disrupt not only your performance, but your entire teams as well,
as we saw in the Beckham incident. The great news is that you can be in–control anytime you want if you commit

The Behavior Of Uc Davis Athletes On An Ncaa...
Match Observation The purpose of this assignment was to observe and analyze the behaviors of UC Davis athletes on an NCAA Intercollegiate sports
team. I was able to observe the athletes in their natural setting and observe their behaviors before, during and after the game. This assignment is
important because we are observing athletes without interfering. This gives the researcher the ability to observe their natural behavior while playing
the game. From this experience we are trying to learn the different behaviors that each player has, or if they have any similarities. We are also learning
how players interact with their team, their coaches and the crowd. On Thursday, October 6, I was able to attend the UC Davis women's soccer game
on our home field against Cal State Fullerton. I arrived to the game with 2 other classmates about 30 minutes prior to the start of the game. The setting
and environment prior to the game was calm and relaxed with music playing on the speakers. The weather was hot, with a slight breeze and many
people brought hats and sunglasses since they would be sitting in the heat throughout the game. Everyone who was there early was talkative and
smiling whether they were fellow students or family members, they all seemed to be supportive and ready to watch the game.

My Interviews About the Game of Soccer Essay
I decided to conduct my Field Assignment Interviews at a park near where I live. The park is Pacific Hills Park, the park has many different
features, such as a soccer field, jungle gyms and people come and walk their dogs. I decided to ask questions during a few different soccer games
over the weekend. The reason I choose the park is because it's close to my house and there are always soccer games in the park. I don't know too
much about soccer and wanted to get some information about the soccer experience.
Before walking down to the park I made sure I was prepared with my introduction a few questions pertaining to soccer, such as to the referee on why
do have they picked this particular park to have soccer games. I also prepared by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel as though I spoke very clearly and communicated a positive energy. The next couple of people I interviewed where parents of the players and one
of the players at a later game. When speaking with the parents they thought this was a very interesting assignment and gave me some tips in some
other questions I may want to ask as well. They all were kind and wished me luck in the class.
The lesson I learned from the assignment was to make sure to be prepared before going up to someone and start asking them questions. This is
true in the business world as well. You have to make sure you are prepared in meetings and conference calls in order to conduct business. If I was
to just wing it and walk up to these people without having and introduction they probably would not have giving me the time of day. I have to say
that I did have to be patient and listen. I have a tendency to interrupt people before they are done talking, which is not a good or polite thing to do.
What I learned from our reading in chapter two this week is that good listeners are liked by others because they satisfy the basic human needs of being
heard. The listening factor for this assignment was listening for information in search of facts about the questions that I was presenting to them.
When I was finish I was learned that I wasn't embarrassed to talk to people that I didn't know. Going into this assignment I thought I would have
anxiety because I

History And Evolution Of The Game
Football History and Evolution Aspects of the game can be traced back to the early second and third century BC in China. Military manuals at the
time describe an exercise called Tsu Chu, in which players used a leather ball filled with feathers and hair. The aim of the game was to get the ball
into a small net fixed on to bamboo canes while attempting the opposing team from doing the same to their net. Variations of the game are also
documented in Egyptian and Greek society (History Channel, 2013) The main rules that make you modern day football we established in
England 1854, the standard dimensions of the ball we later agreed in 1863 and finally the duration of the game was set in 1866.(FIFA). The first
football competition in the word, the FA cup was established in 1872 and involved 50 teams. The first international game of football was played
between England and Scotland in 1872. The game spread fairly rapidly across the world from then on with FIFA being established in 1904 with 7
founding member countries. The first world cup was held in 1930. By 2007 there were 207 member countries part of FIFA representing almost
every country in the world. (FIFA, 2016) The use of technology on the refereeing of the game has been minute as it is feared it would not be 100%
reliable and slow down the game. However recently goal line technology has been introduced to make sure the ball has crossed the line before a goal
can be awarded. On the playing side of the game new technology

Comparing Soccer and Water Polo Essay examples
The history of sports dates back before the discovery of America or even the birth of Jesus Christ. Sports have been in a constant evolution ever
since their introduction to the world, such as Tsu'Chu to soccer or polo to water polo. Although soccer and water polo are popular in America today
many athletes have come to love these two unique sports. Both sports are physically exhausting, demanding all an athlete has to offer to the game.
They test the limit of the body and push it into the next level of competition. To a new comer these two vicious sports seem drastically different, but
when it comes to the basics no two sports could be more alike. Soccer is a sport widely known and loved throughout Europe, but little in the United ...

Just like soccer, water polo is extremely popular within Europe, but in the States the demand for the sport is not as high. It is played in a pool that is
twenty–five meters long. Water polo unlike soccer restricts a player to the use of one their hands at a time. The player must tread water, while
being able to catch and throw the ball with one hand, along with a defender trying to pull him or her under water. The pool consists of two goals,
and two teams of seven trying to put the polo ball in the opponents net. Just like a soccer player would use his or her foot work to get around a
defender, the polo player uses moves to break free from the defender and advance down the pool. Teams will wear matching uniforms, but since they
are in water they wear head caps with their number and team color on it, so they can differentiate the players. Players must survive four quarters of
seven–minutes, while only being allowed thirty–five seconds to have possession of the ball. But once that time has expired the ball is handed to the
other team. When it comes to rules, referees are very picky and allow very little foul play. One common ground for both sports would be the use of
a ball about the same size. Along with the flow of the game, since players are constantly on the move to either defend the ball, score, or get the ball
away from their opponent. Soccer and water polo are both in need for the speed of a quick and smart player who is willing to

The Impact Of Soccer On Modern Soccer
Soccer in the past from now has dramatically developed in technology from simplicity to complications in modern soccer. The complexity of soccer
and the use of technology in the field has made it convenient for the players, spectators, referees and all those involved it. Soccer used to have
drawbacks that caused disappointments upon fans and players and had their elation overthrown by a referee's poorly–made decision. Although
spectators are enraged by the wrong decision a referee had to make, it isn't the referee to blame for having to decide on the inevitable characteristic
of making a decision on a perspective or an assumption. Soccer technology has helped fans all over the world in keeping up with the matches by
the introduction of different kinds of broadcast technologies. Modern fans can also get a professional's point of view on a player or on a soccer
team by just a click of a button. The use of live radios, off course, had a huge impact on the broadcast of soccer all over the world but, had many
drawbacks. For instance, bad weather which caused interference making the commentator's words unclear. Someone on the radio looking for a

The Images Of Women 's The Man Is A Modern Day...
The images of women approach is an approach that sanctions us to examine the female characters in a film and determine if they are a positive or

through a social aspect.
In order to understand the context of this film, a historical overview of the portrayal of women as soccer players and the creation of debutantes
would give a comprehensive outlook. Beginning with the 18th century, in Scotland, there were "folk football games between married and single
women". (Macbeth 6) After World War I, the Scottish Football Association ostracized women's football because "it was less relevant in context of
social reorganization" (Macbeth 13). In addition to, several societies adolescent girls are presented as young women to the public. Queen Elizabeth I
"began the custom of formally presenting eligible young women at court" in Europe (Escals, 709–16). Following with Queen Victoria contributes a

The game of netball originated back in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts, when a 30–year old Canadian immigrant named Dr James Naismith, was

By the year 1871, 50 clubs had become the members of the football association. In 1872, the first football competition in the world was initiated as FA

championship was on the move. The rapid rise of organised football gave a start to the development of professionalism and speculation in the sport. The
popularity of the sport also influenced its spread outside the country; therefore other European countries also started forming their football associations.
This ultimately led to the consistent development of international football community (FIFA.com, 2016).
Opposite to the fact that England has been historically dominant in football, the England national football team has won the World Cup only once in
1966. Also, in terms of national football team, the United Kingdom is not represented as one team. Instead, all the countries in the UK – England,

importantly it will build how they interpret the game and how those interpretation of the rules spread into their life. Players learn how to be more
perceptive of what is happening around them and this helps to stimulate their brains. But how do players perceive what going on on the field? They
read a playbook. Playbooks contain names and descriptions of many common and intricate soccer plays. This may consist of: bicycle kicks– a player
throwing both feet in the air as a ball is approaching on the fly, while moving the legs with a pedaling motion to kick the ball in the opposite direction
to which the player is facing, with the player usually ending up sprawled on the ground, chip– kicking the ball right over the goalies head, or volley–
strike or kick (the ball) before it touches the ground. These types of plays help players connect their minds with the ball, building their knowledge and
eventually, literacy. The last important text is motivating speeches. These are so important because they help

Persuasion Is An Act Or Process Of Appealing
According to McLean (2010), persuasion is an act or process of appealing to reason or presenting arguments to induce your audience to do something
or to change their beliefs or values. Motivation, on the other hand, is the force or stimulus to influence your audience to consider your arguments and
adopt your position (McLean, 2010). In short, persuasion is the process and motivation is the stimulus to bring about the change. For example, when
you want to pitch a sale, persuasion involves presenting good features associated with the products, potential profit, offering good customer service and
analysis of current market demand. Motivation, in contrast, involves incentives like commission, profit, flexible payment term and negotiability in ...

Moving on, the users of the principle of commitment and consistency prevails their audiences that they will embrace and honor their word or promises

The principle of consensus employs the tendency of people follow the path of herd mentality. This is how sellers on the online retailers like Amazon

Persuasive Essay About Soccer
Soccer, also known as football is a sport played by millions all around the world. This is not only a sport, but an activity available to anyone that
offers valuable life lessons to those who play. Lessons and skills such as leadership and teamwork, determination, and friendships are a few that I
have gotten out of playing soccer. Many people view soccer as a waste of two and a half hours because the game becomes repetitive and predictable.
The start–off of the game is as follows, one team starts with possession of the ball with the intention is to score a goal, while keeping it away from
the other team and vice versa. Watching the sport may seem boring to those who do not play because they don't understand it. People who don't play
soccer do not realize the amount of time and effort it takes to excel in this sport, which comes down to the time spent practicing and conditioning. The
more hours spent on footwork and physical conditioning, the better you become. This sport can be extremely physical, but it is also a mental game. It
is important to be in the right mental state during a game because distraction in the head leads to mistakes on the field. A strong mental state is
extremely important in soccer, as well as every day. The ability to multitask proves to be an advantage in the game; when a player has the ball, they
need to continue to move, look for open teammates on the field, and maneuver around the opposing team simultaneously. People who understand this
sport can

Outcasts United ' By Warren St John Based On The...
Outcasts United Analysis 'Outcast United' is a book by Warren St John based on the incredible tale of a refugee soccer team and how a small town in
America transformed to find unity in diversity. The book 'Outcasts United' expounds the story of the challenges and triumphs of a group of refugee
players, the strength and determination of an exceptional woman who coaches them, and their neighbourhood. Clarkston, Georgia was an ordinary
town in the south until the government designated it as a refugee settlement centre in the early 1990s. as a result, the town became the first American
neighbourhood for hundred of refugees fleeing the war–torn zones such as Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, Liberia, and others. In the long run, Clarkston was
filled with a higher number of different cultural groups, replacing its previous homogenous community. Unlike in the past, now there were women
wearing hijabs, scents of curry and cumin, and children of different colours playing on any open space in the town. At that time, Luma Mufleh, an
American–schooled woman of Jordanian descent also resided in Clarkston, Georgia. It is Luma Mufleh's right actions that resulted in the foundation of
a refugee soccer team, with the objective of establishing unity among different culture groups, and to keep children off the streets (Outcasts United,
2009). In the story, so many problems occurred for refugees in their new community, but my main focus in this essay will be how to use specific tools

Origin And Themes Of Popular Soccer Chants
Devin Reddy USSO290Z: Soccer: The Global Game 20 November 2016 Origin and Themes of Popular Soccer Chants The lyrics "Walk on, Walk
on, With hope in your hearts" are belted out by a sea of red as a Liverpool match is about to start. Even though the intonation of the singing might
make a choral director cringe, there is no doubt that everyone wearing Liverpool's red jersey knows every word to the song. Sung in unison, the
undeniable passion of Liverpool's fans is overwhelming, when they wear their club's crest and colors on their chest and recite their anthem with
their voice. This sort of chanting and singing is mainstay in European football, almost as central to the sport as the ball itself. Here, I will define
chanting as the reciting or singing a tune or song, often with changed lyrics with respect to the original version of the song, in order to evoke or
convey emotions. The term 'chanting' will encompass not only explicitly chanting, but singing and warbling as well, specifically pertaining to
European football. Showcasing the power and unity of that club's fans, chanting can be used for a variety of purposes, such as supporting their own
club, celebrating after a goal, or even intimidating the opposing club. Some chants, such as Liverpool FC's You'll Never Walk Alone, may be passed
down through generations of fans, engrained in that club's identity. However, there are many others which are based off of popular music of the time,
which come and go, just as popular

The speed, the agility, the ability to manoeuvre the ball to the opposing side of the field, the ability to reflect and the ability to outsmart your

They say women have been playing "football" for as long it has existed, evidence suggests that there was an ancient version of the game that was seen

allowed.
There are many dates estimated recognized as the first matches ever recorded, Scotland has been the country were women football has mainly taken
place. There is evidence of an annual match being played in Scotland in the early 1790s, but the first match was recorded by the Scottish Football
Association which took place in 1892 in Glasgow. In England, the first recorded match of football played between women took place in 1895.
Throughout the years, women football has become more civilised, The Football Association has documented early involvement of Women in Europe.
They say in 12th century French Women have been playing football as part of the era's folk games, also in the 1790's Scotland included football in the
annual Mid–Lothian competition, evidence shows the fact that women have been playing this sport for as long as men have.
In 1863, the FIFA and head football governing bodies introduced a more civilised threat to the game, they introduced standardized rules to avoid and
prohibit violence in the field, making the game more safe and more acceptable for women to take part in. The most

A Study On Scottish Football Clubs
The focus of this study is on Scottish football clubs that competed in the top two tiers of the league during the 2014–2015 season, using two club
interviews to gain a further insight. It was made clear in the conclusions of the literature review that the contribution of CSR activities by Scottish
football clubs to the 'game' in Scotland was not clearly understood and so therefore this study contained three consecutive objectives. These were to:
1.Investigate the CSR measures adopted by Scottish professional football clubs between August 2014 and July 2015, as well as on club websites in
July 2016, to distinguish what kind of social and environmental initiatives have been launched.
2.Evaluate the similarities and differences between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the issue of potential limitations and problems with the chosen strategy will be discussed, along with any implications this may have had.
Research Strategy
A case study approach was chosen as the research strategy. Yin (2013) describes a case study as:
'...an empirical inquiry that investigates a contemporary phenomenon within its real–life context, especially when the boundaries between phenomenon
and context are not clearly evident'
It is of particular use when the area of investigation is less well developed (Eisenhardt, 1989), using this methodology allows for multi–level analysis to
be carried out in terms of this study secondary data analysis and employee interviews. This research is concerned with an in–depth study of the
priorities and motivations behind why Scottish football clubs in particular, participate in CSR activities and will continue to do so in the future. For
example, the review of the literature showed clearly that corporate social responsibility is an essential aspect of continued added value to a sports team,
however it does not explain how football clubs prioritise their social and/or environmental projects or combat the theory of sports organisations using
CSR for financial gain. Furthermore, the literature review states that stakeholder theory plays an important part in the decision making processes within
football clubs, yet there is no firm evidence to suggest

Over the recent decades, school games have picked up tremendous popularity over the United States. Whether it be football, ball, or hockey, since the

Each individual player will be monitored and supported across the FA 4 corner model (pictured below), this model outlines the factors that need to be
considered as a young player or learner grows and develops in the learning environment. Each of the corners is connected and relies on support from
the other three areas.
The FA 4 Corner Model (long–term player development)
We introduced this model to help the young learners understand that technical ability unaccompanied will not be enough on the pathway to excellence.
They must understand that barriers or challenges such as injuries, growth spurts, external pressures, financial issues and self doubt could all potentially
face them as they grow and develop in the game. To add to the complexity of the 4 corner model even cultural, faith and ethnic issues which arise with
diverse groups are taken into account.
As you can see from the diagram players have an opportunity to alter the amount of support they require on a regular basis, this can range from a high
amount of support over all 4 corners or very little support over just one corner. Some of the Academic/Pastoral support services we have implemented
internally have included:

most important without my parents. The minivan was full of kids with the enthusiasm of traveling to a new city with big buildings, famous places to

and grass for hours we finally got to see the buildings and freeways running in many directions. I was just wondering what would had happened if the
week before we had lost the final game against "lobitos", they would the ones observing the beauty instead of us. Our coach Frank and his wife Lucia

It was average game day on Sunday in Denville, the team and I did our typical lap around the field and stretched to prepare for the game. Three out

you to be right with the left mid, and if the girl gets past you Cate will take care of her. I would rather you stay up then stay back." Before I got a
chance to say how absurd that is the referee called for kick off, so I just gave an uncertain nod and jogged to my position. Thinking about what my

winners and nothing in this world can stand between us from the trophy." We were jumping up and down trying to get our blood flowing and when the
referees called us on the field.

due to a couple of great saves by our goalkeeper we were still in the game. At half–time it was tied. We stuffed ourselves with oranges before we ran on

how much pay each national team gets, and only they can do what's right in this situation. In addition, "According to a budget report from the U.S

play only on their trainings because she was not part of the team. So one day, they lost a match with another high school because one of their best
defense players got injured. That day, my best friend decided to ask the coach if she could be on the team. Disbelief was apparent on his face. He
laughed at her really hard and then told the other team members about her question. Everybody started to make fun of her. Even though they knew she
was the best defense player, they prohibited her to be on their team just because she was a girl. Due to gender and discrimination, women are
experiencing harassment, lacking job opportunities lacking athletic scholarships and also lacking equality with men in the sports professions.
Historically, women have been

Every four years, the world championships of soccer, the World Cup, is watched by literally billions all over the world, beating out the Untied States professional football's Super Bowl by far. It is estimated that 1.7 billion television viewers watched the World Cup final between France and Brazil in July of 1998. Anyone who has attended a live football game knows how commercial time–outs slow the game and sometimes, at its most exciting moments, disrupt the flow of events. There is no doubt that without television definitely would not stay the same in the homes and hearts of Americans. Also, without the money from advertising, the teams couldn't afford the sky–high salaries of their superstars. Soccer, on the other hand, except for its halftime break, has no time–outs and is constant run, run, run, back and forth, relentlessly, with only a few seconds of relaxation when a goal is scored, and that happens two or 3 times in a normal game, sometimes never scoring in a game. The best that commercial television can hope for is an injury timeout and that is only when a player is very seriously injured. Another reason is Americans love their violence, and soccer doesn't have the violence that American football and soccer have. There is some violence, yes, but Americans can't expect the the bone–crushing hits in football, and the knockout punch fights in hockey, game after game. In soccer, players are actually singled out and warned with embarrassing "yellow cards" for acts of violence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soccer has had a rough time in the United States. People didn't really see it as a major sport until 1994 when the USA hosted the FIFA World Cup. Befor this, there wasn't a even a professional league. With the terms of hosting, the United States had to form a league. In 1993, Major League Soccer was formed. It took a few years to catch on, but is now at an all time high. To find the real core of the hatred, we need to look back at the history of sports and the role soccer has played in the United States. Soccer was brought to the United States around the 1850s. I was first played in New Orleans by English, German, Scottish and Irish settlers seeking a better life and more opportunity in the United States. Back then, soccer was played with 25 players a side. In current rules, you get 11 players a side (including a goalkeeper). In 1884, soccer in the United States took a major step in the founding of the American Football Association. As you can see, they didn't call it soccer back then. They only started calling it soccer around the 1920s. This was because it was often confused with American Football. ... In the second half, Beckham was fouled by midfielder, Digeo Simeone, who rammed him in the back and knocked him down. Beckham, while still lying on the ground, retaliated in anger with a kick, right in front of the referee. It is a secret because most athletes think the opponent is on the other team... The truth is the real opponent is you vs. you and your mind. I was able to observe the athletes in their natural setting and observe their behaviors before, during and after the game. This assignment is important because we are observing athletes without interfering. This gives the researcher the ability to observe their natural behavior while playing the game. From this experience we are trying to learn the different behaviors that each player has, or if they have any similarities. We are also learning how players interact with their team, their coaches and the crowd. On Thursday, October 6, I was able to attend the UC Davis women's soccer game on our home field against Cal State Fullerton. I arrived to the game with 2 other classmates about 30 minutes prior to the start of the game. The setting and environment prior to the game was calm and relaxed with music playing on the speakers. The weather was hot, with a slight breeze and many people brought hats and sunglasses since they would be sitting in the heat throughout the game. Everyone who was there early was talkative and smiling whether they were fellow students or family members, they all seemed to be supportive and ready to watch the game. 1. I have never witnessed an NCAA Athletic Competition in women's soccer before. I am not familiar with the game of soccer as much I am with other types of sports. Therefore, this was my ... This is true in the business world as well. You have to make sure you are prepared in meetings and conference calls in order to conduct business. If I was to just wing it and walk up to these people without having and introduction they probably would not have giving me the time of day. I have to say that I did have to be patient and listen. Both sports are physically exhausting, demanding all an athlete has to offer to the game. They test the limit of the body and push it into the next level of competition. Just like soccer, water polo is extremely popular within Europe, but in the States the demand for the sport is not as high. It is played in a pool that is twenty–five meters long. Water polo unlike soccer restricts a player to the use of one their hands at a time. The player must tread water, while being able to catch and throw the ball with one hand, along with a defender trying to pull him or her under water. The pool consists of two goals, and two teams of seven trying to put the polo ball in the opponents net. Just like a soccer player would use his or her foot work to get around a defender, the polo player uses moves to break free from the defender and advance down the pool. Teams will wear matching uniforms, but since they are in water they wear head caps with their number and team color on it, so they can differentiate the players. Players must survive four quarters of seven–minutes, while only being allowed thirty–five seconds to have possession of the ball. But once that time has expired the ball is handed to the other team. When it comes to rules, referees are very picky and allow very little foul play. One common ground for both sports would be the use of a ball about the same size. Along with the flow of the game, since players are constantly on the move to either defend the ball, score, or get the ball away from their opponent. This is not only a sport, but an activity available to anyone that offers valuable life lessons to those who play. Lessons and skills such as leadership and teamwork, determination, and friendships are a few that I have gotten out of playing soccer. Many people view soccer as a waste of two and a half hours because the game becomes repetitive and predictable. The start–off of the game is as follows, one team starts with possession of the ball with the intention is to score a goal, while keeping it away from the other team and vice versa. Watching the sport may seem boring to those who do not play because they don't understand it. People who don't play soccer do not realize the amount of time and effort it takes to excel in this sport, which comes down to the time spent practicing and conditioning. The more hours spent on footwork and physical conditioning, the better you become. This sport can be extremely physical, but it is also a mental game. It is important to be in the right mental state during a game because distraction in the head leads to mistakes on the field. A strong mental state is extremely important in soccer, as well as every day. The book 'Outcasts United' expounds the story of the challenges and triumphs of a group of refugee players, the strength and determination of an exceptional woman who coaches them, and their neighbourhood. Clarkston, Georgia was an ordinary town in the south until the government designated it as a refugee settlement centre in the early 1990s. as a result, the town became the first American neighbourhood for hundred of refugees fleeing the war–torn zones such as Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, Liberia, and others. At that time, Luma Mufleh, an American–schooled woman of Jordanian descent also resided in Clarkston, Georgia. It is Luma Mufleh's right actions that resulted in the foundation of a refugee soccer team, with the objective of establishing unity among different culture groups, and to keep children off the streets (Outcasts United, 2009). Origin And Themes Of Popular Soccer Chants Devin Reddy USSO290Z: Soccer: The Global Game 20 November 2016 Origin and Themes of Popular Soccer Chants The lyrics "Walk on, Walk on, With hope in your hearts" are belted out by a sea of red as a Liverpool match is about to start. Even though the intonation of the singing might make a choral director cringe, there is no doubt that everyone wearing Liverpool's red jersey knows every word to the song. Sung in unison, the undeniable passion of Liverpool's fans is overwhelming, when they wear their club's crest and colors on their chest and recite their anthem with their voice. This sort of chanting and singing is mainstay in European football, almost as central to the sport as the ball itself. Here, I will define chanting as the reciting or singing a tune or song, often with changed lyrics with respect to the original version of the song, in order to evoke or convey emotions. The term 'chanting' will encompass not only explicitly chanting, but singing and warbling as well, specifically pertaining to European football. Showcasing the power and unity of that club's fans, chanting can be used for a variety of purposes, such as supporting their own club, celebrating after a goal, or even intimidating the opposing club. Some chants, such as Liverpool FC's You'll Never Walk Alone, may be passed down through generations of fans, engrained in that club's identity. • 32. A Study On Scottish Football Clubs The focus of this study is on Scottish football clubs that competed in the top two tiers of the league during the 2014–2015 season, using two club interviews to gain a further insight. It was made clear in the conclusions of the literature review that the contribution of CSR activities by Scottish football clubs to the 'game' in Scotland was not clearly understood and so therefore this study contained three consecutive objectives. These were to: 1.Investigate the CSR measures adopted by Scottish professional football clubs between August 2014 and July 2015, as well as on club websites in July 2016, to distinguish what kind of social and environmental initiatives have been launched. 2.Evaluate the similarities and differences between ... Research Strategy A case study approach was chosen as the research strategy. Yin (2013) describes a case study as: '...an empirical inquiry that investigates a contemporary phenomenon within its real–life context, especially when the boundaries between phenomenon and context are not clearly evident' It is of particular use when the area of investigation is less well developed (Eisenhardt, 1989), using this methodology allows for multi–level analysis to be carried out in terms of this study secondary data analysis and employee interviews. This research is concerned with an in–depth study of the priorities and motivations behind why Scottish football clubs in particular, participate in CSR activities and will continue to do so in the future. For example, the review of the literature showed clearly that corporate social responsibility is an essential aspect of continued added value to a sports team, however it does not explain how football clubs prioritise their social and/or environmental projects or combat the theory of sports organisations using CSR for financial gain. Furthermore, the literature review states that stakeholder theory plays an important part in the decision making processes within football clubs, yet there is no firm evidence to suggest

Each of the corners is connected and relies on support from the other three areas. The FA 4 Corner Model (long–term player development) We introduced this model to help the young learners understand that technical ability unaccompanied will not be enough on the pathway to excellence. They must understand that barriers or challenges such as injuries, growth spurts, external pressures, financial issues and self doubt could all potentially face them as they grow and develop in the game. To add to the complexity of the 4 corner model even cultural, faith and ethnic issues which arise with diverse groups are taken into account. As you can see from the diagram players have an opportunity to alter the amount of support they require on a regular basis, this can range from a high amount of support over all 4 corners or very little support over just one corner. People dream about traveling a lot and more if they had a passion that would actually take them to get to know new destinations. Soccer has always been my passion and it has taken me get to know new people and new places I had never been before. We were on our way to San Antonio, Texas a white minivan full of kids on their soccer uniforms ready to play on the hot summer of 2008. They had invited us to participate on a youth national tournament with soccer teams from all over the United States. At that time I was just 11 years old and didn't knew that much about traveling, and most important without my parents. The minivan was full of kids with the enthusiasm of traveling to a new city with big buildings, famous places to visit and many attractions, where none of us had traveled before. Entering San Antonio was such a beautiful experience, after observing pure trees and grass for hours we finally got to see the buildings and freeways running in many directions. I was just wondering what would had happened if the week before we had lost the final game against "lobitos", they would the ones observing the beauty instead of us. Our coach Frank and his wife Lucia weren't as excited as me and my team members which were just stuck next to the window observing the beautiful San Antonio, Texas. Majority of the time when someone or something leaves for an uncertain reason there is a lot of talk about it. In my case people thought I was arrogant or thought less of them, but that was not the case. I begged for this for three years, and about a year ago in July I finally got the chance; the chance to try new things and to put myself out there. "We're playing Denville, we have barely enough players, and we have two weak younger players as subs...great," I thought to myself as I watched Deville volley back and forth flawlessly. I started to think the game that hadn't even started yet was over, we were going to lose. Before the referees call for kick off, Mr. Hall ordered a group huddle. He gave us our positions and told us to take the field, but as I was running out he called me back over. I trotted over and nodded as if saying 'what's up.' "I want you to play more of a midfield left defender," he explained, " I want you to be right with the left mid, and if the girl gets past you Cate will take care of her. I would rather you stay up then stay back." Before I got a chance to say how absurd that is the referee called for kick off, so I just gave an uncertain nod and jogged to my position. Thinking about what my coach had just said to me I actually chuckled a little bit. "What is the point of having me play defense if I'm practically playing another left mid," I thought, "Like that doesn't even make sense. Whatever!" I knew I wasn't going to listen because then ... We had been training for a month now and the gruesome work had finally paid off. We were more than ready to march on the field and take the championship. We won our league division and if we won the nextgame we play then we were headed to the national championship. Our team had never won the championship and we really wanted to win it. In the locker room before the game our coach emphatically said, " You boys play like it is the last game of your career. Nothing should stop you and when you touch the field I want you to feel like winners. You see that trophy there, that is our trophy and when we go out on the field we hold our heads high and we fight to win. We are winners and nothing in this world can stand between us from the trophy." We were jumping up and down trying to get our blood flowing and when the referees called us on the field. Beep. The whistle blows. Our coach pumped us up with a great motivational speech to make us play the hardest we could. We start shaky, however due to a couple of great saves by our goalkeeper we were still in the game. At half–time it was tied. We stuffed ourselves with oranges before we ran on the field for the second half. Our team started off very well due to a great speech by our coach and we gained a monstrous two–zero lead. They have experienced rough conditions of the fields when they play their matches, which can lead to serious career ending injuries. The women have had enough of this situation and they plan to bring this up to the U.S Soccer Federation, they hope the men will stick up for them and help them fight for their rights, the women hope to get rid of Astroturf altogether and quit playing their matches on it, and has the federation been like this for a long time. It's our responsibility to know what's right and what's wrong in the federation and stick up for the people being torn and brought down from discrimination. The U.S Soccer Federation is being brought to attention and being investigated of the discrimination towards the women. For example, "The U.S Soccer Federation is a 501 nonprofit and the official governing body of the sport of soccer in the United States."(Wikipedia1). This clearly demonstrates that the federation is in charge of the soccer, and it is understood that they are more than capable of changing the discrimination between the women and the men. The significance is that being the federation they have all of the power to determine how much pay each national team gets, and only they can do what's right in this situation. In addition, "According to a budget report from the U.S Soccer Federation, the women's team is projected to bring in more than $17 million in revenues, including a $5 million surplus for a fiscal year 2017, nearly doubling their male counterparts."(Santhanam1). Rute Tilahun Professor Selina Hammond English 101– Composition 12, November 2015 Gender and Discrimination in Sports: Soccer How many fans do you see supporting women's Soccer teams? Why are women receiving less acknowledgements for their success towards sports than men? Do you know any girl who is interested in playing soccer and is not on the team just because she is a girl? Well I do. Such an incidence happened in one of my best friend's lives. It took place at my high school back in my country, Ethiopia. My best friend is really interested in soccer. She will give up anything for it. When we were in high school, she used to play soccer with the boys in her spare time. The boys used to let her play only on their trainings because she was not part of the team. So one day, they lost a match with another high school because one of their best defense players got injured. That day, my best friend decided to ask the coach if she could be on the team. Disbelief was apparent on his face. He laughed at her really hard and then told the other team members about her question. Everybody started to make fun of her. Even though they knew she was the best defense player, they prohibited her to be on their team just because she was a girl. Due to gender and discrimination, women are experiencing harassment, lacking job opportunities lacking athletic scholarships and also lacking equality with men in the sports professions.
