2. The first stage of creating the poster was to crop my image to the
appropriate size. Using the crop tool as seen above, I wanted to get rid
of the small black bars seen at the top and bottom of image which I did.
This created this image which could be used to create the poster.
3. I used the text tool with the
same font seen on my
trailer to write in the: LIVE
and the tagline. These were
simply then positioned in
the places I wanted them.
I used the move tool to
position the image upwards.
This created the space I
needed for my key text.
4. This star was taken off of the internet from a copyright free website. I
then removed the background using the magic wand tool so it could be
inserted onto my poster.
5. I used the shape tool to insert a black rectangle at the base of the poster.
This would serve as a place that text could be inserted at the bottom of
the poster. I copy and pasted the stars into the top left corner of the
poster.
6. I then used the text tool to
write in the names of famous
movie review
companies/magazines: Empire
and Total Film. These were
then put underneath the star
reviews as is the convention of
movie posters.
7. In order to give my movie the appearance of having won academy
awards I needed to get wreaths off the internet. Again these were
royalty free bitmap images.
I used the colour replacement tool to make
the wreaths white so they would be visible
on the black background of my poster.
8. I then inserted the wreaths onto the image, using the text tool I wrote in
the academy awards ‘my movie received’. I tried to make these realistic
for an independent movie, as Oscars and such were far above the status
of such a movie.
9. I then began to start inserting my key text, at first I went for completely
small text however I decided this didn’t look like any movie posters I had
seen.
10. The second version of this I inserted larger text alongside the smaller. At
the base I also inserted: ’Coming soon’ a convention I’d seen that broke
up the text nicely.
