Motion is the change in position of an object over time relative to a reference point. There are several types of motion including translatory, circular, oscillatory, and periodic motion. Translatory motion is motion in a single direction and can be rectilinear, in a straight line, or curvilinear, along a curved path. Circular motion involves movement around a fixed central point and can be rotatory, involving part of a body, or revolutionary, involving the whole body. Oscillatory motion is a back-and-forth movement, while periodic motion repeats at regular time intervals.
