Audience feedback for music video

1. Audience Feedback
To gain some more audience knowledge I asked 20 people
who like Grime (my genre), a series of questions relating to the
music industry and to do with my music video

2. Gender?
I asked what the gender of the listeners were to give me a more general feel to who the
audience are, and to further my understanding of how I should proceed with the
production of the video. The result I got from the survey is that out of the 20 people I
asked, 16 were male and 4 were female. This shows that Grime/hip-hop/rap is a male
dominated genre and that I should produce
my video catering for males mostly.

3. Age?
This question came back with the results stating that most of the people who listen to
music that of the genre I am doing are between 18 and 24. This let me know the age of
the people watching the videos and so how I should lay my music video in accordance
to this research. The reason for this is that music videos for older people are generally
made differently to those for younger people
(maybe the editing is faster for younger
Generation videos than older, so on and so
forth).

4. Favourite Artist?
I wanted to research who my target audience’s favourite artist was so I could then research their music videos to
see what style they are. In specific: what mise en scene they use (clothes they wear, props they use, locations
etc) what editing techniques they use (whether that be strobe, straight cuts etc) and also the camera angles
most commonly used in their music videos so I could chose . All these which ones I should use In my own music
video. The results I got were That Wiley and Dizzee rascal were the most Popular, followed by Jay Z then Taylor
Swift coming last. This means that for my research it Would make
sense to research Dizzee Rascal and Wiley videos. Which is
relatively easy seeing as Wiley and Dizzee Rascal were both
in the same group at one point in their careers (Roll Deep
early 2000’s) meaning their style of videos were similar as
well.

5. What platform do you listen most on?
This question gave me the understanding that because the audience that listens to my
music is predominantly that of a younger generation, they listen to music on
prodometly online based music platforms (e.g. YouTube, Spotify, Soundcloud etc). This
would affect how much money would Be spent on producing the traditional types Of
music ( CD and Vinyl) as opposed to the online
based.
