How effective is the combination of your main 1
1. How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary
texts?
2. Synergy is the strategy of synchronising and
making connection between two
conglomerates.
Synergy is important because it helps the growth of money and also helps attract a
wider audience which means the company is likely to get more sales and a greater
income.
3. Colour
Within both text I incorporated a black and
white effect. I believe that with this effect it
would portray the theme of the album and
also be a stereotype of the genre.
I got the idea of splash colour from Adele’s
‘21’ album cover . I believe that it set a mood,
her ‘someone like you’ video is filmed in black
and white also so we used aspects of that to
show past tense like she did.
4. Guitar
The use of the guitar was our main concept of synergy.
The guitar is shown fluently throughout the video and
quite boldly on the back of the album cover.
The genre of this album is indie pop which the guitar
takes a huge role in.
Audience can identify with this as they can visually
connect both texts together also the guitar is the
main instrument in the sound track. Guitar players can
feel as though they can relate to the artist as he plays.
The real artist shows the guitar in the real video
which is where we got the idea from . Similar to the
original the artist we only used the guitar playing in
one base track although it was seen multiple of times.
5. Clothes
In my main text my artist is wearing casual clothing (t-shirt, jeans, tracksuit) this
synergises with the ancillary also. This connotes the pop genre. We felt by using
casual clothing the audience can feel as sense of connection with our artist as they
can go out and buy the same clothes as the artist from local retailers.
From these original albums I found that most artist related to this genre wear very simple
clothing so we stuck with this idea. In most of the videos related to these albums they also
wear casual clothes.

6. Artist
I decided to use the same photo on both the ancillary products this is so audience are
familiar with what album it is from. As you can see from above I have stuck with the
colour theme as both the album and main product so that audience can also
Identify. Although the artist is looking away in my ancillary text in the music video he
breaks the 3rd rule and looks into the camera which lets the artist feel a sense of
connection as though the artist is singing to them. Being a debut album I decided to
use the artist photo on the front cover as he is a up and coming artist audience may
need to be familiarised with his face.

7. Text
In my ancillary text I decided to go with simple text. This was
because in that genre of music everything is basic and subtle.
From original album cover I found that the two colour and
different font work really well so I decided to incorporate
it in my work.
8. Successful or not ?
In terms of success I think the synergy worked
fairly well.
I think that through synergy my audience are now able to
identify my artist but name and face (visually).
I also think through synergy my artist can also make connections
with the audience through the use or clothes, guitar and eye
contact.
However I do feel like I could of use more ways of showing where
to purchase the music from and shown that in both texts.
9. Feedback
• Through feedback from audience members
they believed that the colour schemes
synergised really well and also believed they
could really relate to the artist through such
simplicity.
