2. How do my three media
texts link together?
My aim throughout constructing my main and ancillary texts
was to keep the three texts connected to each other this
makes it clear that they are all linked together, not only for
their purpose but for their design, target audience and
closeness of realistic media products.
Through out my CD cover and poster, they had the same text
and font. This was to build a sense of brand awareness so
the audience will know they all link together.
Not only did I use text to link everything together I also
used…
3. Colour
One example was I used certain tones of colour through
my promotional part. You will notice further in the slide
how they relate. I mainly used colours such as pinks
and purples and made them more lighter and softer so
wasn’t too harsh. Doing this made the audience
understand it all links together.
4. Images
For the CD cover it had two different locations for the
image, however for both location we used them for the
music video. This way the audience will be able to
understand the link between these, I made sure to use
locations where we filmed or else the audience may
become confused.
5. How effective is the combination of your
main product and the ancillary text's?
I decided to take photos through out filming for the music video, I done this there would
be a relation between the two productions. The three photographs I used for my CD cover
and poster I believe would look the best to fit in for the promotional part, also I believed
they looked the most professional and effective. I also choose these pictures because on
the back cover of the CD it has the two artists that are in the music video, and for the front
cover it has the main artist who is through out all of the music video so the audience
would understand she is the main artist / star. Also for the poster it has both the artists so
everyone will understand these are the main actors.
For the front CD cover, we are using the clothing Jazmin worse for the lip sync, she wore
a plain black top and skirt. We have done this because I knew I wanted to do a lot of
editing and if she wore coloured clothing this might of not looked right. Also wearing black
can also represent hurt and this is part of the song.
For the back CD cover, Jazmin and James wore popular clothing to make it relate with
pop music, also the colours they wore represented romance and love (that is about the
song).
6. LOGO
For the logo, I got inspired by Lilly Allen ‘its not me, its
you’ CD. It has the artist sitting in the initial or the name.
before I got inspired by that I had just plain ‘Zedd’ in the
top right corner. I thought this didn't’t look very effective
because it wasn't eye catching to the audience compare
to my final piece. I also believe the logo I choose looked
more professional to the consumer. It also immediately
identifies the main artist to the cd and the main song for
the album ‘Clarity’.
7. FRONT CD COVER COLOURS
CD front cover, I wanted to created a 3D effect where
you move the central image a little to the left and right,
so looks like there is 3 Actors with a shadow to them,
the colours I used to create a 3D look was blue and red,
from this it created this background colours merged
together so was blue, red, pink, purple and greens. I
also noticed from this effect it came out rather bold and I
wanted to create this into more of a pastel effect, I
wanted to do this because these are colours that
resembles love.
8. BACK CD COVER COLOURS
This is the two artists who are through out all of the
music video, I put them as the back cover so the
audience knows it is about these two people and for
them to know who the music video will be about. These
wasn’t the original colours from the photo, I believe
because the front cover had specific colours in that the
back cover should flow so that all of the CD flows
together. I also kept the same font all throughout the CD
and I done this so once again it flows.
9. Front Cover Logo
Is the name of the artist clearly visible?
Yes, it is visible the actress is sitting in
the main initial (Z) then in smaller
letters next to it has (edd)
Is the name written with a unique logo
design?
I believe so, it is different compare to a
lot I’ve seen. I also believe it stands out
and you can clearly see it.
Is the name of the artist in the top third
of the cover?
Yes, it is on the front cover, the smaller
outer edge sleeve and back cover.
Is the title of the release distinguishable
from the artist?
Yes, it is written horizontally the main
song.
Is the genre of the music minted at by
the cover art?
I believe so, the colours are popular,
the actress is a teenager, the font is
what would be used for pop music and
the clothing is fashionable.
10. Back Cover Logo
What specific type of information is included on the
back cover?
It has the song titles and time, copyright logo, barcode,
record company, and contact information. (address and
email)
11. COLOURS FOR POSTER
For the poster, I used similar colours to the CD, I don’t this so
all of them can relate and have similar identities so the
audience will know it links together. Another reason is if I
used different colours the audience may be confused if there
together because it may not look like it is from the same
person who made the advertisement package.
12. Iconic Images
Iconic images are photographs that bring back an even
or location. For my CD cover, the front brings back
when we lip synced. And for the back cover it has an
image of Jazmin and James looking into the sea, the is
an event because it looks like a day where the had fun,
also because they are linked it resembles love.
