- 2. Overview • School Overview • Learning and teaching in the Nursery • Please complete as many of the forms in your pack as possible and return to us before you leave.

- 5. Full Day Pupils Events • Christmas Party, Nativity, Assembly, Sports Day, school photographer etc. will be held in a morning and afternoon session. Full day session pupils will be invited to the afternoon session. Communication • Please feel free to speak to our staff about your child’s learning at pick up time, information from Nursery staff will be shared with wrap around staff.
- 6. Nursery Uniform • Red nursery jumper • Grey nursery polo shirt • Black indoor gym shoes
- 7. • School Uniform • Black indoor shoes to change into (preferably velcro) • Bag with a change of clothes • Wellies • Waterproof jacket/warm coat • Waterproofs (optional – we also provide these) • Name tags on everything please Nursery Clothing

What Do I Need to Do? • Provide Emergency Contact details and keep them updated at the school office. • If your child is going to be absent, let the school office know before 9.00 a.m. • Sign in / sign out your child. • Provide names of the adults who may pick your child up should you not be able to come. • If you will NOT be collecting your child yourself, let us know who is.

Attendance at Nursery • Research shows that children with less than 94% attendance – impact on learning • Attendance & lateness is monitored monthly • If child unwell, telephone school and report absence by 9.00am • NHS Summary of Recommended Periods of Absence for Communicable Diseases • Safe Arrivals to School policy

Snack • Snack time is an important aspect of the nursery session. • Children have the opportunity to be involved in the selection and preparation of a healthy snack and take part in social interactions at the snack table. • Snack costs £1.50 per week and is payable on a termly basis. We would encourage you to pay this using the West Lothian online payment system, iPay impact.

Early Level Curriculum Our early years curriculum drivers: • Our curriculum is built on a foundation of raising attainment through embedding Language and Literacy, Maths and Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing skills, knowledge and attributes. • Our learning and teaching develops a passion for learning through curiosity, wonder and personalisation and choice. • Building and developing relationships with parents and carers. • Child led learning through play based opportunities.

The Early level curriculum areas are embedded in to these play activities. There is a balance between free play and structured activities.

- The Primary 1 teachers for next session will be: Mrs Smith & Miss O’Brien Next session, we will again have 11 classes in the Primary School and two Nursery sessions. The main school building is split up into three areas: Infant, Middle and Upper. Our school is open plan with a number of learning bays in each area. If you had a more traditional experience of school yourself, you might be thinking, ‘How on earth can that work?’, but, believe me, it does. There are times, of course, when classes want to do something noisy or need quiet for some activity and for that purpose, we have a Noisy/Quiet room in the middle area. At present, your children are working with these teachers and getting to know their new surroundings and their classmates. During the tour a bit later on, you’ll get a chance to see how they’re doing.
