Salvation Army Case Study
Case Presentation: Salvation Army
Demographic Information
At the Salvation Army, I'm currently case managing a consumer named, Mr. Adams. This consumer
is a thirty–seven–year–old, Caucasian male that wears glasses and loosely–fitted athletic clothing.
Mr. Adams height is average, but he appears to be overweight, according to the medical information
documented in his file. Mr. Adams has no known visible tattoos or scars. As for education, Mr.
Adams has only completed the eleventh grade. He has not completed a GED or any specialized
training. The longest full–time employment he has had was for a year as an auto sales clerk at an
auto parts store.
Presenting Problem
Mr. Adams entered the Salvation Army: Harbor Light (substance abuse) program on September 01,
2017. He was transported from the Fulton County Department of Corrections to the shelter. He was
mandated to complete the program, otherwise he would be charged with a felony drug conviction
and would return to prison. While incarcerated, Mr. Adams was diagnosed with an amphetamine
dependency disorder along with severe depression, post–traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety.
While conducting an Adult Severity Index (ASI), Mr. Adams admitted that some sexual trauma
occurred when he was a child. He recalled at least four different sexual episodes between family and
non–family members. These individuals include: mother's boyfriend, step–father, cousin, and sister's
boyfriend's brother. He admits having little contact with his biological family. Mr. Adams describes
the relationship with his mother and sister as "chaotic". Mr. Adams also admits having very low
self–esteem. During the Adult Severity Index (ASI) interview, Mr. Adams indicated that he has
abstained from using any amphetamines while incarcerated. He stated, "I've been clean for months
now". Mr. Adams indicates that he is chronically homeless and has no place to call home. From
examining Mr. Adams overall assessment of the presenting problem, it appears that he is using
amphetamines as a means of coping with the sexual trauma that occurred early in his childhood. His
relationship with the family appears dysfunctional and distant. His family might have been aware of
the sexual abuse that was

Write An Essay On The Salvation Army
Growing up I was told continuously: 'do on to others as you would like them to do to you'. Across
the globe, there are people that assist each other and adhere to humanitarian values. They try to
protect society and help less unfortunate assimilate to the environment. There is an organisation
called The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army is an integral part of the Christian Church and its doctrine follows the Christian
beliefs. It assists in advancing education and trying to eradicate poverty and run other programmes
that will be beneficial towards society.
The organisation helps impoverished communities; they manage to assist people by the donations
made to the organisation. These donations provide shelter for the homeless, babies and children with
HIV and AIDS and they also run feeding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The human rights are based on humanity. They do not discriminate. As an organisation they value
their biblical and theological background of the church. It promotes justice to be served through
adhering to the basic human rights outlined in the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human
Rights.
However the organisation has endured some negativity because o the biblical background, this
organisation does not support homosexuality as it condemns homosexuality. This organisation is
considered a religious cult as it practises wearing a uniform and that one is to marry within the
church. This organisation has puritan ideas and encourages dictatorship through their established
leadership.
This organisation has managed to help a tremendous amount of people across the globe through the
word of God and it has existed for over 150 years. They uphold social justice and try to practise
human rights as they fail by discriminating others because of their sexuality but claim not to
discriminate. This organisation manages to give hope to those in

The Salvation Army Research Paper
Salvation Army The Salvation Army is most commonly known for its red kettle and bell ringer
during the holiday season. The Salvation Army date back to 1852, when a couple, William and
Catherine Booth started with an ideal about helping the London poor. They felt that there was a
growing number of poor being over looked and the poor were growing away from the Christian
roots they were raised. In this paper I want to introduce the social and economics despair London
went through and how the Salvation Army played a major role in helping the poor in social turmoil.
Before we can explore and tell about the contribution the Salvation Army provided the community,
we have to understand its beginnings and its foundation. Concerned ministered William ... Show

This did not deter William and Catherine, the continued on and by 1874 they had over 1000
volunteers and 42 evangelists. All serving as "The Christian Mission", later being called Volunteer
Army, but William did not like the sounded of this and finalized the name as The Salvation Army.
Williams and Catherine started with soup kitchens, shower, and bunkhouses, to get people off the
streets and in where it was safe. Once they got people through the doors, volunteers would get them
food, areas to sleep and a shower, while providing counseling and ministry services for the soul.
Because there was so much poverty in London people felt desperate and resorted making money in
means they would normally not have. Catherine felt that women were the ones most being hurt,
domestic violence did not exist and women were vulnerable. With family bonds collapsing, women
resorted to all means necessary including prostitution. Catherine felt that there was a better way for
women and the Salvation Army could step in those shoes and help, both spiritually and physically.
Catherine knew this was not going to be an easy task to undertake and consulted with William about
it and William said he would back her up every step of the

"Put your clothes to work" is a project where I collected bags of old clothes and donated them to the
Salvation Army. The Salvation Army was started by William Booth and his wife. They let in
alcoholics, morphine addicts, and other "undesirables" unwelcome in polite Christian society. Then,
the Booths started their own Christian church. They believed in not drinking, smoking, or taking
drugs of any kind. The soldiers wear a uniform tailored to the state of they work. As the Salvation
grew, they gained some unwanted attention by the Skelton Army. They threw bones, rats, and tar to
physically assault the members of the Army. Much of this hate was filled by the pub owners because
of the Army's no alcohol mentality. So, the reason I chose this

People who have a higher risk of falling into poverty includes Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders,
drug and alcohol addicts and people who have a long–term disability. Due to this, The Salvation
Army advocates for an increase in the current income support allowances to provide a more
adequate standard of living. If not for all people, an individual could come to The Salvation Army
who is socially isolated in some way or is not financially well off. Because of this, The Salvation
Army runs a Meal Program every Friday for people who are disadvantaged to have a proper meal.
With this, The Salvation Army believes that they are realistic with who they are and what they can
provide. For example, The Salvation Army cannot assist people who have an addiction with drugs or
alcohol, however they can refer them to specialist services and counselling or provide them with
rehabilitation and detox.
Employment:
The Salvation Army did a survey in 2015 and it is indicated that those who are unemployed feel
more isolated and excluded from the community. However, they still have the desire to have
opportunities and experiences like the rest of the community. Many people experienced barriers
when trying to find jobs, such as lacking the skills and experience, having a mental or health issue or
not having the proper education levels. As a result, The Salvation Army created programs such as
education and training to assist those who are lacking the skills or qualifications to find a job.

Catherine Salvation Army Revival Essay
Catherine was largely influenced by Charles Finney and the Wesley brothers because of her years as
a child on bedrest. The foundation of her Christianity was in Methodism so, while in her early years
she agreed with the Methodist theology, as she grew in her own relationship with God and
established her own convictions, many of her beliefs began to part ways with those of the
methodists. However this was largely due to the negative change in Methodism, not the original
teachings of the Wesley brothers. The Salvation Army revival was quite different than revivals of the
past in a few crucial ways. In fact, it is safe to safe it was the first revival of its kind. The main
difference lies in the focus of the revival. For example, the Wesleyan revival, in which both
Catherine and William had their roots, focused only on the salvation of souls and reaching the lost
with the gospel. While that was a major focus of the Salvation Army Revival, William and
particularly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe one reason for this was simply the willingness of Catherine to obey the prompting of the
Lord. She was so eager to follow the calling of God on her life, even if it meant risking her health,
breaking away from the church of her family, and completely going against the social norms for
women in her day. That is a quality that few people in her day and in ours posses, and I think that is
and integral reason for why God was able to use her so powerfully. Another reason I believe
Catherine and The Salvation Army's work was so successful was owing to the fact that the social
reform and charitable ministry to the poor was so needed at that time. I think God was looking for
someone who would care for people's bodies and physical wellbeing as well as their spiritual
wellbeing. I think God was looking for someone who wasn't afraid to do what it would take to see a
visible change in the

Contributions Of The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army was founded by William Booth. He began evangelizing to the poor, the
homeless, the hungry, and the destitute in England. Although he was greatly opposed because of the
type people he was preaching to he was able to reach 250,000 people in five years. With the help of
some volunteers he would eventually spread his to America. After many years of being an
evangelistic group they would eventually become a present–day charitable organization. However it
is important to remember the contributions of The Salvation Army: establish a new religion in the
19th century, was one the largest evangelistic movements and one of the first religions to send
missionaries to another country. The Salvation Army was considered a new religion

Catherine Booth and the Salvation Army
Christmas is only a few weeks away and more than any other time of the year, thousands of people
in need are looking forward for the help of the Salvation Army. The members of the Salvation Army
are impatient to worship and listen to the Holy Spirit and once again follow the steps of their mother
of the Army, Catherine Booth. There are more than 1.5 million Salvationists across the Europe and
the United States, helping people in need for physical and spiritual salvation. In 1865, William
Booth, a British Methodist preacher, found the Salvation Army with the help of his wife Catherine
Booth, who later was known as the mother of the Salvation Army. Their mission, with the values of
hope and justice, was to transform the lives of people, especially those in need for spirituality. " Do
you also follow Christ?" was Catherine's Constant question to her listeners. The causes of Catherine
Booth's success in her life can be summarized in three stages of: her upbringing, her religion and
desire to follow Jesus Christ, and her marital life that gave her the opportunity to serve in the
Salvation Army.
The best gift that anyone can ask for in life is, to have a good and spiritual mother, and Catherine
was blessed with this gift. From childhood, Catherine was very spiritual and followed the Bible and
set Jesus Christ's teachings for her guidance in life. Catherine had an exceptional relationship with
her mother in every stage of her life and she had a major contribution to Catherine's

Volunteering for the Salvation Army
When the f–5 tornado decimated the town of Smithville on April 27, 2011, a whopping 15 people
were killed, 40 people injured, 18 homes destroyed, and two businesses were annihilated. (National
Weather Service Weather Forecast Office) Without the help of various organizations, like the
Salvation Army, Smithville would've never recovered from the horrifying disaster, which made me
wonder what the Salvation Army does, what a volunteer needs to do, and what the benefits are of a
volunteer.

the holiday months. The angel program is a program that allows individuals, families, or groups

parents shop for gifts at no cost for their children ages 1–13. Volunteers fill stockings for children
and senior citizens in the stocking program. The Salvation Army holds holiday meals on Christmas
and Thanksgiving at the army shelter for anyone. Holiday food boxes, boxes of non–perishables, are
given to those in need. There is also the renowned Kettle Campaign, where bell ringers stand outside
of businesses and parks collecting money in red kettles, helps pay for all of the Christmas programs

Volunteering: The Salvation Army
For most, lending a hand to someone only really counts for family members and friends. A person
never really thinks about all the outside people in the world that need a little help. When the holiday
season comes around people may not have the money to feed their families or buy Christmas gifts
for their kids. Many agencies broadcast on television how to help these families, not just in your
state but around the world. Like most, I for one have never volunteered, but I have donated. For a
person that is looking to start volunteering, a little research should be done on different places. I for
one like The Salvation Army as an organization. I always see them around the holiday season

The Salvation Army helps families year round. They at any given moment have more than
3,400,000 volunteers helping. There are so many families that need help feeding their kids and
buying even just a single toy for them to open on Christmas morning. Christmas is their busiest time
of the year. During the Christmas season it takes over 10,000 volunteers just to get each job done.
One of their Christmas programs to volunteer for would be the Angel Tree project. It provides
Christmas assistance to families with children 0–15 years of age, or senior adults age 60+. A person
can receive Angel Tree assistance for 6 consecutive years. My favorite is their largest annual
fundraiser. It is the Red Kettle, where people stand outside singing and ringing bells. The kettles are
located at 65 area businesses throughout the greater Jackson area. History behind the Red Kettle
goes back to 1891. The Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee was sad because so many families
were going hungry. He wanted to provide free Christmas dinner to poor families in San Francisco
but had no funding to do so. His goal was to feed 1,000 families for Christmas. He remembered the
Simpson Pots that sailors would drop coins into for needed families and that gave him an idea. He
tried the same idea and soon had enough money to feed the families he wanted to feed and more. Six
years later the idea had spread. That year resulted in 150,000 Christmas dinners being delivered
nationwide. Today in the United States, the Salvation Army assists more than 4 million people
during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Kettles are now used throughout the United States. Kettles
have even been seen being used in Korea, Japan, Chile, and many European

Christmas Gifts: The Salvation Army And The Salvation Army
Throughout time, our society has shifted as well as the whole idea of Christmas spirit. Christmas is
supposed to be a time of joy, love, and selflessness. Giving gifts is a holiday tradition to show love

supposed to be, but instead many people find joy in the gifts they receive, rather than in the ones
they give. What has not changed, though, is the people who continue to support William Booth,

One great thing a person can do in life and that is to volunteer in an organization. Volunteering has

that people do in spied of themselves. Volunteering, whether on a large or small scale, plays an
important role in America. With the changes in the economy, cities depend on Volunteers more than

Issues Affecting The Salvation Army Essay
Some current issues affecting the Salvation Army include: donation levels which continue to
decline, at the same time there being an increase in the numbers of those who require The Army's
services. Reasons for the increase in the numbers of people requiring assistance include the loss of
jobs, insufficient insurance and/or no insurance, as well or the difficulty in finding jobs with a living
wage, also fewer and fewer funds from either donations or federal funding as more and more agen–
cies are falling short of their goals. Even with all of the difficulties, the Salvation Army still attempts
to provide help to thousands of people on a yearly basis. One other concern not discussed as
publicly as other issues affecting the Salvation Army, is the religious message of the organization.
This could be attributed to many people being assisted in a non–religious setting?

Organizational Structure Of The Salvation Army
ASSIGNMENT 2: Organizational Structure, Reporting, and Responsibilities The Salvation Army is
an international organization, which spans over a hundred countries, so there is a difference between
its strategic and tactical organization. Its strategic organization refers to which divisions and corps
report to which territory, while its tactical organization refers to the local structure of each individual
corps or social service section. As an Accounting Assistant, I am knowledgeable about the
responsibilities of the local organizational structure as well as my own tasks and duties. On an
international scale, the organizational structure of the Salvation Army is based upon a military
model. The Salvation Army is led by a General, who usually works from the International
Headquarters at London, UK. The Salvation Army is spread out over 124 countries, so each country
is considered a territory, which is the responsibility of Territorial Commanders who report to the
International Headquarters. Many countries are large enough that they are split into several
territories for easier management. Each territory is broken up into smaller administrative regions
called divisions, which are managed by Divisional Commanders who report to the Territorial
Commanders. Finally, each division has several corps and community service centers, which are
managed by Corps Officers (Our Structure). The Salvation Army's organizational structure is the
result of its large size. The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army: Helping Out In The Community
The Salvation Army is an organization that help's the poor, disabled and homeless. They help feed,
clothe, shelter, and also help find jobs for men and women. Many people in the community who
drop off their clothing to donation sites probably don't know where their clothing is going to.
Everything that is being donated is helping out everybody in need even across the nation. All the
money that has been made goes back into the shelters. Helping out in the community can be a
wonderful thing not only is you clearing up space for unwanted things but you're also helping out
others. It is amazing what people can do with something. What isn't your style can be another
person's treasure. There is three location In the Hampton roads which are, Virginia Beach Norfolk

The Salvation Army: Ministry Analysis
The topic discussed this past week that will be most beneficial to my ministry as a Salvation Army
officer is the "Difference between an Army and a Church." Although, there are various similarities
between the church and The Salvation Army, I also noticed that there are distinct difference. These
differences make The Army unique to its ministry. In my past educational and ministerial training,
the focus of training was on the role of the minister. The role of the minister was to care and disciple
the flock under his/her care. The focus of the minister was on the need of the church that he/she
served. However, as an officer the focus of my ministry will be fulfilling the mission of The

The Contribution Of The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army, founded in 1865, is one of the world's largest Christian social welfare
organizations providing social services to millions of people across the world every day as well as
operating retail thrift stores and providing housing to the poor. The non–profit organization's
mission statement "preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name
without discrimination" has been the goal since its founding. All operations of the organization
follow in accordance with the Gospel of Jesus Christ allowing for a more spiritually driven structure
rather than a profit driven organization. Peter Drucker, who many consider to be the father of
modern management theory, said the Salvation Army is the "most effective organization in the
United States". After all, of the companies listed on the Dow Jones in 1896 only one, General
Electric, withstood the test of time and exists today alongside the Salvation Army. The average base
salary of a Salvation CEO in the organization is $35000, at a time when the median salary for 248
other CEOs at public companies stood at $10 million according to a Wall Street Journal report in
2012. The Salvation Army continues to expand and attract people despite little to no pay. Donations
range from cents at Christmas time, to millions and to as much as a single one and a half billion
dollar donation. What motivates people to volunteer their time or labor for little to no pay may be
the desire to help and bond with those in

The history begins at london's east end in 1865 by one time methodist reform church minister

Analysis Of The Salvation Army
The pamphlet issued by the Salvation Army has a sad and gloomy perspective that plays on the
audience's emotions through the text and graphic images included. However, in saying that the idea
is shown that individuals can make a change through volunteering or placing donations, which can
create positivity. There are examples that the organisation cares in the text for example, "...building
a relationship with people and getting them off the streets in our priority." There is also text within
the pamphlet that can produce guilt for the reader for instance, "But you can help end homelessness
now and give them the warmth they need by donating to our Winter Appeal." Through having
incorporated optimistic views it has an impact on the text, revealing what are the true beliefs behind

The Roles Of The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army is a Christian organisation that has become worldwide and focuses on its
charitable resources to spread throughout the world. They not only have churches all around the
world, but they also have aid services and shelters for people in need of them. Throughout the many
years in Australia, the Salvation Army had set up orphanages for children they were abandoned from
a small age. They would teach them how to read, write and they would teach them the gospel of
Jesus Christ.
In recent years, the Salvation Army has played a large role in the reducing numbers of homeless
people in Australia. Fundraisers are held annually so that the communities can play a role to help
raise funds for those in need. Fundraisers such as the couch project are run by the Salvos in order to
raise awareness and money from the community about homelessness in Australia, people must sleep

on the streets and they may need assistance in a lawyer to protect them if a situation is bad. The
legal aid also provides a free will writing service if they are in need of one. They accessible services

The Salvation Army is one of those organizations that have a worldwide presence. The Salvation
Army can trace its root to the streets of London in 1865 when William Booth noticed a homeless
man who was begging for spare change ("About Us"). He had come to the thought that maybe
someone should have do something after he had a dream that was inspired by God ("About Us").
This one man has started a movement that is still going strong today and a vision that goes on in
different projects like Sunday School readings, feeding the poor and opening development centers
for the youth. In 2015, 3.2 million people were helped in some form or another by the Salvation
Army ("About Us"). The number continues to grow each year as more and more people continue to
ask for help. Their mission statement is as followed, "As a major part of the Christian Church, the
goal is to preach the gospel and meet all human needs in God's name with discrimination." ("The

The Salvation Army The Salvation Army is an international movement, an evangelical part of the

Salvation Army was founded in 1865 in London by the English Methodist minister William Booth.
It was originally founded as the Christian Mission, with the aim of carrying on evangelical and

William Booth also lays down schemes for poor men's lawyers, clinics banks, industrial schools and
even a seaside resort. Booth asserts in his book, In Darkest England and the Way Out, "I have no
intention to depart in the smallest degree from the main principles on which I have acted in the past.
My only hope for the permanent deliverance of mankind from misery, either in this world or the
next, is the regeneration or remaking of the individual by the power of the Holy Ghost through Jesus
Christ. But in providing for the relief of temporal misery I reckon that I am only making it easy
where it is now difficult and, possible where it is now all but impossible, for men and women to find
their way to the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ." (The Salvation Army International) In Booth later
years he was received in audience by kings, emperors and
presidents, who were among his ardent admirers. On August 20th, 1912 William Booth died, he was
83 years old. The body of the General was put up in state at The Congress Hall, Clapton, on the

The Salvation Army: The Salvation Army
There is over 500,000 americans that are homeless right now. The Salvation Army is trying to bring
this number down in any way possible. The Salvation Army does much more than just help the
homeless, they help anyone in need. The Salvation Army has been around for over 150 years and it
is all over the world. Anyone can help the Salvation Army by donating time, money, or goods. The
Salvation Army is a great charity because of it's rich history, all the lives it's changed, the services
they offer, and because anybody can help. The Salvation Army was founded by a man named
William Booth in 1865. Booth was a member of christian church in the UK and he was inspired to
help the world. The Salvation Army's mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and meet the
needs of humans without discrimination (Giles). Since 1865 the Salvation Army has expanded
greatly and is now worldwide. The Salvation Army is in 93 countries, and has over 1.5 million
members. They have a total of 7,619 centers in operation today, and are always expanding to meet

I always see them around the holiday season
outside with the bells and red pails. Before volunteering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Victorian England proved a time of division and hardship for the country. Destruction and damage
dominated throughout the land. Through this division however, some influential people, businesses,

digitization and deregulation. Notions of bargaining power and competition have equivalence with
stakeholder's relationships in the not–for–profit sector. Charities compete for stake holder
acknowledgement. Funding: For funding Salvation Army operates in several markets including:
charity shops, donation, legacies and funding from the public sector. In 2009, 74% of people of UK

were greater potential fund rising activity other than many charity fund rising activity. However,
only 3% of UK legacies go to charities. A slight increase in the number of people donating to
charities in their legacies would result in a significant improvement on the balance sheet of charities.

  • 1. Salvation Army Case Study Case Presentation: Salvation Army Demographic Information At the Salvation Army, I'm currently case managing a consumer named, Mr. Adams. This consumer is a thirty–seven–year–old, Caucasian male that wears glasses and loosely–fitted athletic clothing. Mr. Adams height is average, but he appears to be overweight, according to the medical information documented in his file. Mr. Adams has no known visible tattoos or scars. As for education, Mr. Adams has only completed the eleventh grade. He has not completed a GED or any specialized training. The longest full–time employment he has had was for a year as an auto sales clerk at an auto parts store. Presenting Problem Mr. Adams entered the Salvation Army: Harbor Light (substance abuse) program on September 01, 2017. He was transported from the Fulton County Department of Corrections to the shelter. He was mandated to complete the program, otherwise he would be charged with a felony drug conviction and would return to prison. While incarcerated, Mr. Adams was diagnosed with an amphetamine dependency disorder along with severe depression, post–traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety. While conducting an Adult Severity Index (ASI), Mr. Adams admitted that some sexual trauma occurred when he was a child. He recalled at least four different sexual episodes between family and non–family members. These individuals include: mother's boyfriend, step–father, cousin, and sister's boyfriend's brother. He admits having little contact with his biological family. Mr. Adams describes the relationship with his mother and sister as "chaotic". Mr. Adams also admits having very low self–esteem. During the Adult Severity Index (ASI) interview, Mr. Adams indicated that he has abstained from using any amphetamines while incarcerated. He stated, "I've been clean for months now". Mr. Adams indicates that he is chronically homeless and has no place to call home. From examining Mr. Adams overall assessment of the presenting problem, it appears that he is using amphetamines as a means of coping with the sexual trauma that occurred early in his childhood. His relationship with the family appears dysfunctional and distant. His family might have been aware of the sexual abuse that was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Salvation Army Research Paper Salvation Army The Salvation Army is most commonly known for its red kettle and bell ringer during the holiday season. The Salvation Army date back to 1852, when a couple, William and Catherine Booth started with an ideal about helping the London poor. They felt that there was a growing number of poor being over looked and the poor were growing away from the Christian roots they were raised. In this paper I want to introduce the social and economics despair London went through and how the Salvation Army played a major role in helping the poor in social turmoil. Before we can explore and tell about the contribution the Salvation Army provided the community, we have to understand its beginnings and its foundation. Concerned ministered William ... All serving as "The Christian Mission", later being called Volunteer Army, but William did not like the sounded of this and finalized the name as The Salvation Army. Williams and Catherine started with soup kitchens, shower, and bunkhouses, to get people off the streets and in where it was safe. Once they got people through the doors, volunteers would get them food, areas to sleep and a shower, while providing counseling and ministry services for the soul. Because there was so much poverty in London people felt desperate and resorted making money in means they would normally not have. Catherine felt that women were the ones most being hurt, domestic violence did not exist and women were vulnerable. With family bonds collapsing, women resorted to all means necessary including prostitution. Catherine felt that there was a better way for women and the Salvation Army could step in those shoes and help, both spiritually and physically. Catherine knew this was not going to be an easy task to undertake and consulted with William about it and William said he would back her up every step of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Salvation Army was started by William Booth and his wife. They let in alcoholics, morphine addicts, and other "undesirables" unwelcome in polite Christian society. Then, the Booths started their own Christian church. They believed in not drinking, smoking, or taking drugs of any kind. The soldiers wear a uniform tailored to the state of they work. As the Salvation grew, they gained some unwanted attention by the Skelton Army. They threw bones, rats, and tar to physically assault the members of the Army. If not for all people, an individual could come to The Salvation Army who is socially isolated in some way or is not financially well off. Because of this, The Salvation Army runs a Meal Program every Friday for people who are disadvantaged to have a proper meal. With this, The Salvation Army believes that they are realistic with who they are and what they can provide. For example, The Salvation Army cannot assist people who have an addiction with drugs or alcohol, however they can refer them to specialist services and counselling or provide them with rehabilitation and detox. Employment: The Salvation Army did a survey in 2015 and it is indicated that those who are unemployed feel more isolated and excluded from the community. However, they still have the desire to have opportunities and experiences like the rest of the community. Many people experienced barriers when trying to find jobs, such as lacking the skills and experience, having a mental or health issue or not having the proper education levels. • 14. Catherine Salvation Army Revival Essay Catherine was largely influenced by Charles Finney and the Wesley brothers because of her years as a child on bedrest. The foundation of her Christianity was in Methodism so, while in her early years she agreed with the Methodist theology, as she grew in her own relationship with God and established her own convictions, many of her beliefs began to part ways with those of the methodists. However this was largely due to the negative change in Methodism, not the original teachings of the Wesley brothers. The Salvation Army revival was quite different than revivals of the past in a few crucial ways. In fact, it is safe to safe it was the first revival of its kind. The main difference lies in the focus of the revival. For example, the Wesleyan revival, in which both Catherine and William had their roots, focused only on the salvation of souls and reaching the lost with the gospel. While that was a major focus of the Salvation Army Revival, William and particularly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe one reason for this was simply the willingness of Catherine to obey the prompting of the Lord. She was so eager to follow the calling of God on her life, even if it meant risking her health, breaking away from the church of her family, and completely going against the social norms for women in her day. That is a quality that few people in her day and in ours posses, and I think that is and integral reason for why God was able to use her so powerfully. Another reason I believe Catherine and The Salvation Army's work was so successful was owing to the fact that the social reform and charitable ministry to the poor was so needed at that time. I think God was looking for someone who would care for people's bodies and physical wellbeing as well as their spiritual wellbeing. I think God was looking for someone who wasn't afraid to do what it would take to see a visible change in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the help of some volunteers he would eventually spread his to America. After many years of being an evangelistic group they would eventually become a present–day charitable organization. • 24. Catherine Booth and the Salvation Army Christmas is only a few weeks away and more than any other time of the year, thousands of people in need are looking forward for the help of the Salvation Army. The members of the Salvation Army are impatient to worship and listen to the Holy Spirit and once again follow the steps of their mother of the Army, Catherine Booth. There are more than 1.5 million Salvationists across the Europe and the United States, helping people in need for physical and spiritual salvation. In 1865, William Booth, a British Methodist preacher, found the Salvation Army with the help of his wife Catherine Booth, who later was known as the mother of the Salvation Army. Their mission, with the values of hope and justice, was to transform the lives of people, especially those in need for spirituality. " Do you also follow Christ?" was Catherine's Constant question to her listeners. The causes of Catherine Booth's success in her life can be summarized in three stages of: her upbringing, her religion and desire to follow Jesus Christ, and her marital life that gave her the opportunity to serve in the Salvation Army. The best gift that anyone can ask for in life is, to have a good and spiritual mother, and Catherine was blessed with this gift. From childhood, Catherine was very spiritual and followed the Bible and set Jesus Christ's teachings for her guidance in life. A person never really thinks about all the outside people in the world that need a little help. When the holiday season comes around people may not have the money to feed their families or buy Christmas gifts for their kids. Many agencies broadcast on television how to help these families, not just in your state but around the world. Like most, I for one have never volunteered, but I have donated. They at any given moment have more than 3,400,000 volunteers helping. There are so many families that need help feeding their kids and buying even just a single toy for them to open on Christmas morning. Christmas is their busiest time of the year. During the Christmas season it takes over 10,000 volunteers just to get each job done. One of their Christmas programs to volunteer for would be the Angel Tree project. It provides Christmas assistance to families with children 0–15 years of age, or senior adults age 60+. A person can receive Angel Tree assistance for 6 consecutive years. My favorite is their largest annual fundraiser. It is the Red Kettle, where people stand outside singing and ringing bells. The kettles are located at 65 area businesses throughout the greater Jackson area. History behind the Red Kettle goes back to 1891. The Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee was sad because so many families were going hungry. He wanted to provide free Christmas dinner to poor families in San Francisco but had no funding to do so. His goal was to feed 1,000 families for Christmas. He remembered the Simpson Pots that sailors would drop coins into for needed families and that gave him an idea. He tried the same idea and soon had enough money to feed the families he wanted to feed and more. Six years later the idea had spread. That year resulted in 150,000 Christmas dinners being delivered nationwide. Today in the United States, the Salvation Army assists more than 4 million people during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Kettles are now used throughout the United States. Kettles have even been seen being used in Korea, Japan, Chile, and many European ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Christmas Gifts: The Salvation Army And The Salvation Army Throughout time, our society has shifted as well as the whole idea of Christmas spirit. Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy, love, and selflessness. Giving gifts is a holiday tradition to show love for others and express the good that people have in their hearts. This may be how things are supposed to be, but instead many people find joy in the gifts they receive, rather than in the ones they give. What has not changed, though, is the people who continue to support William Booth, "William Booth embarked upon his ministerial career in 1852," he alone was the very beginning of the Salvation Army and what it is today. Issues Affecting The Salvation Army Essay Some current issues affecting the Salvation Army include: donation levels which continue to decline, at the same time there being an increase in the numbers of those who require The Army's services. Reasons for the increase in the numbers of people requiring assistance include the loss of jobs, insufficient insurance and/or no insurance, as well or the difficulty in finding jobs with a living wage, also fewer and fewer funds from either donations or federal funding as more and more agen– cies are falling short of their goals. Even with all of the difficulties, the Salvation Army still attempts to provide help to thousands of people on a yearly basis. All operations of the organization follow in accordance with the Gospel of Jesus Christ allowing for a more spiritually driven structure rather than a profit driven organization. Peter Drucker, who many consider to be the father of modern management theory, said the Salvation Army is the "most effective organization in the United States". • 73. Volunteering: The Salvation Army For most, lending a hand to someone only really counts for family members and friends. For a person that is looking to start volunteering, a little research should be done on different places. I for one like The Salvation Army as an organization. I always see them around the holiday season outside with the bells and red pails. Before volunteering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Salvation Army helps families year round.

The Salvation Army is subject to these forces of: globalization, digitization and deregulation.
