Because there is less chaos and stress in a home schooled environment, one had less experience in
handling pressure. Therefore, home schooled students are less attractive to businesses. The lack of
pressure and guidelines will hinder a person attempting to get a professional job, because they have

Now many have their thought and opinions against what controls a child's happiness and their
emotions but according to studies "Homeschooled kids can dress and act and think the way they

The thought of leaving a known environment to walking into something completely new and
different is overwhelming. Middle school was my home away from home for three whole years.
Like many other incoming freshman students, I believe that a big fear is getting separated from the
friends you grew up with. Yet, I understand that you meet new people and create more memories
together which calms me down a bit. Another big fear/concern is being able to get to one class to
another quickly in order to arrive on time. I signed up for ROTC which I have always wanted to do,

year, several students in the program dropped out, and by the end of the school year, only ten
students were being served. The ineffectiveness of the program, in my opinion, was due to a weak
initiation phase before the program was implemented. A small committee was formed to write a
grant from the program, set the program goals. There were no teachers, teacher leaders, or
counselors on the committee and no input from community members or parents were considered.
The curriculum for the program centered only on addressing benchmark scores of basic and below
basic students and did not meet any other needs or the students. As a counselor, I heard complaints
from parents throughout the year that their children would benefit more from having homework help
and extended instruction. Teachers felt as if they were already using instruction time during the
regular school day to prepare students for the last year's PARCC and now the ACT Aspire exams. It
is evident the administration made a few key errors in the initiation phase that led to the
unsuccessful nature of the program. First, they did not gain buy–in from stakeholders such as
teachers, students, and parents (AR1.6, AR2.1, AR3.7, AR4.3, AR5.4, AR7.1, AR7.2, AR8.1 and
AR8.2). They did not consider the needs of the whole child and, instead, only focused on bringing
up state test scores of certain individuals.

Developing A Stronger Home And School Partnership
Effective teachers recognize the need to engage families and communities of diverse backgrounds
and cultures. According to the 2012 "MetLife Survey of the American Teacher," it identified family
engagement as one of the most challenging aspect of their work. Schools and teachers want to
develop a stronger home and school partnership with shared responsibility of the results, but are not
always sure of how to make that happen. Likewise, families and communities have a great desire to
