3) What have you learned from
your audience feedback?
Megan Waite & Kira Brookfield
Feedback
As a group, we displayed our documentary to a
group of people within the age category which
we aimed it towards. As well as the secondary
audience being Teenagers themselves.
Quoting from random questions which we asked
our audience, of about 10 people, here were
their responses…
Questionnaire to primary audience:
Older Generation
Q1: How did the documentary make you feel?
Q2: Do you feel that it has made an impact on
what you think about teenagers?
Q3: How far do you agree with this
documentary?
Q4: Did it full-fill your expectations?
Responses… Q1
7/10 people agreed that it made them re-think
back on times where they had stereotyped a
younger person for the way they dressed/looked
etc. And they said that they felt “horrible for
assuming the worst”.
3/10 people felt neutral, and that it didn’t have
a large effect on their emotions. They felt the
same before and after watching the
documentary.
Q2
7/10 people said that they agree that they must
evaluate a teenager thoroughly before making
assumptions as it causes a negative effect. Which
the documentary showed them that teenagers are
not what they seem and that you shouldn’t judge
upon 1 characteristic.
3/10 people felt that they don’t stereotype anyway,
but they said if they were that type of person to
make assumptions then they agrees that the
documentary was enough to make them realise.
Q3
All the viewers agreed with the message that
the documentary was trying to portray, and the
3/10 felt it was moving enough to change a
persons view if they had a different idea of the
situation which they didn’t in the first place.
Q4
Again, they all agreed as they felt it contained
the right amount of information and told a “very
good” story from the likes of Kira. They wanted
eye catching and interesting and these were two
aspects which were “definitely present” in the
documentary. This suggest it meets our
intentions perfectly and that they are full filled
to our greatest potential.
Negative Feedback
They wanted to watch part 2 and they felt 5
minutes “wasn’t long enough”. But if the
documentary was a real life product it would
obviously be longer and contain more with a
longer and more bulked story line. But
unfortunately it’s limit was 5 minutes as stated
by the brief. Also they wanted more story from
Kira’s point of view and they felt her story was
“cut short” due to the small amount of time
allowed.
Overall…
We were pleased that our primary target audience
enjoyed it, as well as the secondary who felt it was
“just what people needed to hear in order to male a
difference”. The negative feedback was vague as it
was about time, and that they wanted to watch it as
a full documentary. But for future reference, we
know to develop further and to add as much
possible without overloading the documentary in
such a short space of time. Getting straight to the
point quicker will be a future goal as a group.
