Character Profiles
for:
From Outside
In
Mouth: For the mouth of this avatar I
went for the saddest one I could use.
This is so it reflects the character’s
thoughts and feelings, similarly to the
way the film moves slowly into her mind.
This also reflects the character’s mental
health issues.
Sam
Sam
Sam isthe main character andfocus of
my film.She is17 yearsold andlives
withherMother and Sister.Neitherof
these charactersare seen,however,it
isindicatedthatshe has a siblingwhen
she knockson the bathroomdoor and
waits.She attendsSixthForm/College
and isa veryhardworker.She is
introvertedandtherefore doesn’tlike
talkingwithothers. She alsosuffers
fromAnxietyandDepression.She
doesn’tgethelpasshe feelsitisjust
the way she isand she can’t change
that. Due to this, she issomeone who
likesthe escapismof books,filmsand
TV shows.Samisa teenagerthatcan
be relatedtoby a lot of teenagers
watching.Thisisdue to the fact many
sufferfromwhatshe doesand the
everydaysituationsare she isinare
realistic.A bigthingthe target
audience wouldrelatetowiththis
character isthat she also issomeone
whois strugglingwithhersexuality.
She currently,throughthe course of
the film,seesherself asAsexual(Ace)
and therefore cannotrelate tothe
studentsinthe classtalkingabout
anotherstudent.
Hair- The actor, being me, will have brown hair. Having the
character’s hair in a messy bun will show the audience that she
doesn’t have the energy or the mental state to care too much
about her looks. She is also very self-conscious and therefore
always wears the same colours and won’t experiment with
brighter options.
Clothes: I have given her a black hoody as it is one
of the costumes I have chosen to use for my film.
The colour black for these costumes symbolise her
inner thoughts and feelings due to and concerning
her mental health.
Eyes- Her eyes are brown
because the actor’s eyes are
brown and I wanted to create this
avatar as similarto the actor, as
the character, as possible.
Eye brows- Sam is not a character that
wants to spend her time putting on
make-up and buying new clothes.
Because of this, I have not gone for
the eye brows that were the most
perfect and even.
Student 3….. and students
1, 2 and other students
Student 3: Student 3 talks about
wearing make-up and what she
looks like in my script. Because
of this, I have made her avatar
look as though she is wearing
foundation, eye liner, and
lipstick and has filled in her eye
brows. This allows me to get a
good idea of what I want my
actor to be like and the make-
up, such as foundation, that I
want them to wear. Her hair
being down and perfect is good
for the character as they would
be the sort of person that would
spend a long time sorting their
hair and doing their make-up.
These students, speaking or
not, should have brighter
colours in their costumes
than Sam. This is to insure the
audience understands the
contrast between Sam and
the rest of the students as
part of the story.
The plain t-shirts and scruffy hair style creates the idea that this avatar is just a
‘typical’ ‘ordinary’ teenager as they are not trying to be cool or trying to hid mental
issues. This would be good for some other students as it give them variation.
The eye liner on this avatar is to show that
several characters could be similarto
student 3 so that it is reflected in more
than one character. The little make-up, no
lipstick and unrecognisable foundation,
show this character as more relaxed and
comfortable with herself. Her hair down
like this also shows this. This character
avatar is therefore the complete opposite
to the main character.
The sunglasses indicate that he
is a cool student who doesn’t
pay attention in class and
doesn’t really care about
learning. This is also reflected
in the hair style.
I have used different skin tones
to emphasise that I don’t have
any preferences on the race or
ethnicity of my actors. The
diversity would actually be
better as it will show how
diverse the Sixth Form is and
that I don’t discriminate against
specific people.
