2. COSTUME AND PROPS REPORT
• The Key character in my film, will depend on the season in which my character is living in.
An example of this would is, in the winter my main character is going to be wearing very
dark clothes that are also extremely causal. She will wear dark baggy jumpers in the winter
and dark black jeans. In the winter she will also wear dark black boots. As well as this, when
she goes out she will wear a large coat over the top. In the summer she will wear very
brightly coloured clothing. She will wear vests and skirts and pumps. The clothing that she
wears will be significantly brighter than the clothing that she wears in the summer. This is
so that the audience are able to fully interpret the fact that she wears light clothes in the
summer and dark clothes in the winter to reflect her mood.
• The reason that I have decided to put my character in this is because I want her to wear
clothing that a stereotypical teenager would wear. This is because India, is your
stereotypical teenager, with a mental illness. Most stereotypical teenagers, wear very casual
clothes which, is why I have made the decision to have India in casual clothing.
3. COSTUME AND PROPS REPORT
• The clothing that I have chosen for my character to wear, is clothing that my actor is likely to own and
therefore, the clothing will be able to be her own. This is helpful as it means that my actor will be
comfortable in the clothes that they are wearing. My Character however, is of a very similar size to me and I
know that I have all of the clothes that I have listed.
• There are connotations within the colours that I want my actor to wear. The reason that I have chosen to
cloth my actor in dark clothes In the winter is because she gets very depressed in the winter so the colour of
her clothing reflects this. This is because dark colours have connotations of anger and frustration which
relates well to India because of the fact that she has gets frustrated with herself and the depression that she
feels. The reason that she is wearing light colours in the summer is also due to her mood. Bright colours
have connotations of joyfulness and being content. India is more content in the summer when her
depression is no longer evident for her.
• I will be using limited props within my film due to the fact that there is not a huge need for them, I will be
using a phone so that India can be represented as talking to her friends. By using a phone as well, I can also
present India as being fairly modern and looking very typical of an adolescence and having a typical
personality of an youth. I will also be using a scrap book and pictures in frames to show the pictures of India
and her friends, this will reflect her memories.

6. CASTING DETAILS
• The reason that I have chosen Grace to be the main character in my short film is
because, I feel that the look Grace has is a very similar one to the look that I envision
my India to have. She has brown hair which I envision India to have and she also has a
very similar style to that of India.
• Grace also has an amazing acting ability and I feel that she will be able to portray India
well. Being such a sensitive topic, like a mental health issue, I feel that it is really
important to make sure that my actor has the ability to act like she has a mental health
issue, that she does not actually have. This is an extremely difficult thing to do but I
believe that Grace has the acting ability to be able to do this well. She has been in
show’s such as Starlight Express and also did GCSE drama so therefore, has the
relevant acting ability and skills to be able to pull off this role well.
