How to Use Contact Lens Safely for First Time Step by Step Guide
STEP 1: Thoroughly wash and dry your hands with soap and a clean towel.
STEP 2: Rinse your lens with solution to remove any trace of debris. (If you’re using a new lens, or 1-DAY ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses, simply take them out of the package, no solution is needed)
Tip: To avoid mixing up your contact lenses, always apply and remove the lens for your RIGHT eye first.
STEP 3: Place the lens on the tip of your index finger. Be sure the lens is correctly oriented by checking the inside–out marker.
STEP 4: Use your other hand to hold your upper eyelid so you won’t blink.
STEP 5: Pull down your lower eyelid with the other fingers of your applying hand.
STEP 6: Look up at the ceiling and gently place the lens on the lower part of your eye.
STEP 7: Slowly release your eyelid and close your eye for a moment.
STEP 8: Blink several times to center the lens. You’re all set.
STEP 9: If your lens feels uncomfortable, remove it and inspect for damage or debris. If it’s damaged, discard it. Otherwise, rinse with more solution and reapply.

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.

RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.

2. Eye drops
• Step 1
Wash and dry your hands; shake the bottle if it
contains a suspension
• Step 2
Take off the cap of the bottle. Place the dropper
cap on a clean tissue paper.
3. • Step 3.
Stand in front of the mirror for self administration. and tilt your
head backwards. Gently pull the lower eyelid to form a pouch.
Two methods to pull the lower eye lids for instillation of
drops are
Pull lower eye lid downward, with the index finger or
Pinch of the lower lid outward with thumb and index finger.
4. Step 4.
Hold the dropper above the selected eye for
instillation of the drug. Squeeze one drop into
the pocket formed by gently pulling down the
lower eyelid.
Try not to touch your eye, eyelashes, or anything
else with the dropper tip in order to keep it clean.
5. Step 5.
Let go off the eyelid and keep the eye closed for 1-2 minutes after
application of the eye drop, with your head tilted down towards the
floor.
Step 6.
Immediately after instillation of drops, press gently on the tear
duct (inner corner of the eye) with your index finger for a
minute. This will prevent the drainage of eye drops into the
nostril and mouth.
6. Step 7.
Wipe away any liquid that falls on to your cheek
with a tissue paper. And recap the bottle. Again
wash your hands to remove any medication.
Repeat the above steps in the other eye if the
drop is prescribed for both eyes.
7. When eye drops of two different drugs are
prescribed don't administer them together,
instead give a gap of at least 5 minutes
between the administration of each eye drop.
This will prevent the first drug from being
diluted or washed away by second drug.
When an eye drop and eye ointment are
prescribed always instill the eye drop first and
then eye ointment.
8. Don’ts
Don't use the eye drops if they change
color or turn cloudy.
Don’t use the drops if they have small
bits floating in them.
Don't rub/ squeeze/ blink your eyes
after instillation of eye drops.
Don’t share eye drops with anybody.
Don't drive until your vision has cleared
after instillation.
9. TIPS TO REMEMBER
Read the instructions carefully before you use eye
drops.
Check the expiration date. Discard the eye drops if
outdated.
Use multiple use eye drops for not more than 4
weeks from the date of first opening even if the dates
are valid.
Single use eye drops don’t contain any preservatives
and they should be discarded after first use.
Write down the first date of opening on the bottle to
remember when to stop its use.
10. Eye drops are sterile products. Don’t try to open
it using safety pins. Use only pointed tip inside
the cap to pierce the bottle.
Instill the eye drops only in the affected eye
unless instructed to apply on both eyes.
Each eye can hold only one drop. Hence
instillation of additional drops will flow out of
the eye.
Do not adjust the frequency and/or the number
of eye drops you have been prescribed without
consulting your eye care practitioner or
clinical pharmacist.
11. Some eye drops sting or irritate the eye for a
short time. If symptoms persist, speak to your
eye care practitioner or clinical pharmacist.
If you forget to administer the eye drops instill
them as soon as you remember.
Keep the eye drops out of the reach of
children.
Store the eye drops at room temperature, away
from heat, moisture and direct light.
