numbers filed with the Registrar of Companies show that the result for 2011–12 is still awaited.
However, in an interview in March, Ghosh claimed that the company would remain in the black albeit with a smaller profit. In the previous financial
year, the airline reported 18 per cent rise in its net profit to Rs 650.32 crore.
The country 's youngest airline has become its largest. Low–cost carrier IndiGo, which began operations this month in 2006, has overtaken Jet Airways
in terms of passengers flown.
According to the latest figures released by the DGCA, IndiGo, with 27 per cent market share in July this year, has edged past Jet, which managed 26.6
per cent share.

hotels have been set up for travelers and high–class business men. An ever growing, top of the line airport has been built for those coming in and out of
the country. From the outside, Mumbai seems to have taken a liking to being internationally integrated with the rest of world, otherwise known as

This can be seen in the novel with Abdul's father, who suffers from tuberculosis. Diseases like tuberculosis are common in the streets of Annawadi and
numerous slums just like it. This makes it hard for Abdul's father to work which means he can not make money to support his family. This is a
common problem in many slums for many families who have members suffering from disease. Another problem is the upper class that dwells within
Mumbai. While the upper class is the minority class in Mumbai, they control close to all of Mumbai's profits saving it all for themselves and not
helping those in need. The fact that such a small percentage of Mumbai's inhabitants controls a large percentage of its wealth is major reason why so
many poverty stricken people were forced to live in slums like Annawadi. A third reason for the poverty of Annawadi can be seen in its slum lords.
The slums lords have total control over a slum and its inhabitants. If a person crosses paths with a slum lord, they are as good as dead. This fear of
the power of slum lords keeps the people down and makes it almost impossible to rise out of poverty. In Behind the Beautiful Forevers, Katherine
Boo writes "A decent life was the train that hadn't hit you, the slumlord you hadn't offended, the malaria you hadn't caught" (Page 45). These are all

Indigo Airlines followed a unique sale and lease back strategy which is found to be very effective (Raja & Prabhakar, 2013). It is an agreement
between the airline and the leasing company. The aircraft which is delivered from the manufacturer is immediately leased to a leasing company by the
airline and again the same aircraft is taken back for lease for five years. At the end of five years the aircraft is permanently handed over to the leasing
company. This strategy makes the airline free from debt associated to the aircraft, depreciation etc. and also the airline gets some extra profit apart
from the investment made. So, there will be enough cash available with the airline to make reinvestments. Indigo made a profit of $4 to $5 million on
each complete transaction (Mueller, 2013).
Indigo is the most active user of this strategy in the LCC segment in the world. Indigo completed 37 such transactions in two years period from 2011
to 1st May 2013 (Raja & Prabhakar, 2013). Virgin Australia is the second largest user of this strategy which has completed 35 transactions. India's
Spicejet also have completed 28 transactions and is after Lion Air (Mueller, 2013).
Indigo leases an aircraft for an average lease period of five and half years. This approach avoids the costly maintenance repairs of aircrafts that would
