The Commercialization Of Christmas And Easter
We live in a very materialistic society where not even religion can escape the lure of
commercialism. Although advances in technology have made consumerism more readily available
to people world–wide, the root of secularization of the church can be traced back hundreds of years.
Of course the commercialization of Christmas and Easter stands out amongst holidays celebrated by
Christians; other religions also include elaborate festivities and gift giving during their religious
celebrations. In addition to the merchandising during the holidays, there are countless stores and
websites that offer religious items, movies and TV shows, museums and theme parks, music of
every genre and ornately decorated places of worship. Although most religions ... Show more

In recent years, Christmas holiday shopping has begun earlier and earlier, starting even before the
end of October. Stores, street lights, and houses are decorated with brightly colored lights,
animatronics, and inflatable images of Santa, Rudolph, Frosty and the Grinch. Holiday sales begin
on Thanksgiving instead of Black Friday, making it impossible for salespeople to spend time with
family, enjoying food and games while reflecting on all that the family has to be thankful for.
Admittedly, I am not a fan of shopping on Black Friday, but I have friends that say that getting up
early and rushing around stores for special bargains is a fun family tradition; however, it seems that
every year there are media reports of people being injured or fights breaking out over getting that
one all important item. Many people go into debt making credit card purchases of nonessential
items. All that aside, though, the holiday season causes many people to become more charitable,
providing food to the homeless, visiting lonely elders in nursing homes and providing clothing and
gifts to children in need; it would be wonderful if people kept that giving spirit all year long.
Christmas music has evolved quite a bit over the years also; Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer
and I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas are heard more frequently than Silent Night or Away in a
Manger. Many churches, mine included, hold Christmas pageants which include a mix of music and

Technology, Technology And The Deep Commercialization Of...
For decades, people have been fascinated with the concept of making images with higher resolution
and higher brightness, especially with the rapid development of film technology and the deep
commercialization of entertainment. In response to limitations to different traditional projector
technology, three–chips Digital Light Processing (DLP) has been developed, heart of which is the
semiconductor–based Digital Micromirror Device (DMD). Thanks to the DMD 's high stability and
precise control on the light source, DLP technology has been widely used nowadays.
This paper gives an overview on basic working principles of DLP technology and discusses
advantages of DLP–based applications.
Rapid development of digital electronics technology since 1970s has brought a significant
improvement on service for human beings. As one of the most well–known way to display images
and videos, Digital Light Processing technology shows its revolutionary impact in respect of
projection.
DLP technology was originally invented by Texas Instruments(TI) in the spring of 1996 and TI has
been devoted to this field so much that many extraordinary progresses have been made on DLP.
Though, the core device of DLP remains unchangingly – Digital Micromirror Device (DMD).
DMD, also referred to as the DLP chip, is a semiconductor device which is comprised of more than
one million mirrors within an area smaller than palm and controlled by a memory chip.
The DLP systems generally can be divided into two

Urbanization And Commercialization On Literature
The Effects of Urbanization and Commercialization on Literature
Nature is inescapable. It surrounds humanity and sneaks its way into daily life. Society draws on
experiences with the environment to produce art, theater, and literature. As Tim Ingold, a professor
of Social Anthropology, explains, "... nature furnishes the substance, culture the form." The
imaginary worlds of stories are created from sensations gained from the environment, and culture is
a medium that guides the writer in expressing his or her tale. Tales of Moonlight and Rain (1776) by
Ueda Akinari was written during a time of pilgrimages, uprisings, and intellectual pursuits. Though
set in the past, the book shows the influences of his environment within his nine ghost stories. The
continued urbanization and commercialization of society influenced the literature produced in the
early modern period, as well as views on the supernatural, by expanding on the themes of travel,
loyalty, and philosophy as shown in Akinari's Tales of Moonlight and Rain.
As Japan became more urbanized and roads improved, many commoners became enthralled by the
opportunity to explore the world around them. However, since simply traveling to see the world was
prohibited by the shogunate, many explored the world through pilgrimages. These travelers wrote
dairies and poetry that described the sights and sounds they experience, expanding the culture of
travel through their literature. According to Anthony H. Chamber, the translator of

The Negative Impacts: The Commercialization Of Honey Bees
The human population is exploding and demands more food to sustain itself. With the demand for
more food we have used vast amounts of land for agriculture to grow everything we need. All of the
crops we rely on require pollination from the single greatest pollinator, the honey bee. Honey bees
are used all over the world to pollinate just about everything from orchids to almonds. Unfortunately
honey bees are under siege and their numbers are dwindling quickly.
Most honey bee colonies are commercialized, which means they are grown on farms. The farmed
bee colonies are then loaded on trucks and shipped all over the country to pollinate crops. This
processed is used all over the world. To put it into scale a single semi–truck carries 400 bee colonies
each containing 30,000 to 50,000 bees with a grand total of about 3.5 million bees (Kraus, 2013).
After shipping the bees are unloaded from trucks and placed along grid lines ... Show more content

Every third bite of food you take was created by honey bees, whether it be a steak or ear of corn
(The Forgotten Pollinators, 2012). Honey bees pollinate just about everything that is put on your
table. They also contribute significantly to the economy by pollinating our crops. On average
annually honey bees pollinate $15 billion worth of crops in the U.S (Sass, 2011). Without honey
bees our crops will collapse and the price of food will rise beyond affordable limits. Honey bee
populations are dwindling worldwide. According to the Bee Informed Organization from April 2015
to April 2016 44% of the United States bee colonies collapsed (Wright, 2016). In some places bee
populations have stooped so low that they have been put on the endangered species list. On October
3, 2016 7 species of yellow faced bees native to the islands of Hawaii were placed on the
endangered species list and in the same report it was found that worldwide 40% of pollinators
including butterflies are facing extinction (Kennedy,

Airport–airline together competes with other airport–airline competitors for overlapping markets.
There are positive and negative effects of an airline to the airport. The positive effects are they
reduce the risk and uncertainty for airports, ease of funding for capacity investments. They provide
incentives for airlines to make sunk investments and long term commitment to the airport. Some
negative effects entry barriers to potential competitors(Winston and Morrison 2000, Dresner et

Essay on The Commercialization of Basketball
The Commercialization of Basketball
The game of basketball is changing, but not willingly or by it own doing. Corporate America has
been poking around in the petri dish containing American sports for years now, steering its path of
evolution wherever desired. The effects can easily be seen on and around the basketball court in the
form of corporate logos engrained on the floor, product advertisements everywhere from the rafters
to the programs to the scorers table, and company labels stitched into players uniforms and shoes.
Basketball, and sport in general, has become one of the most effective commercial vehicles and
marketing tools, but at what price? How has sport, both the actual competition and the viewing
experience, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why is the Target Center so saturated with these images? Entertainment. These corporations have
realized that people come to basketball games to be entertained and if their products can be
marketed in a way that promises entertainment, or presented in a way that is entertaining, then
people will pay attention, and money.
With just a flip of the 2002–2003 Minnesota Timberwolves Yearbook cover this can be seen. The
reader is immediately faced with faced with a multitude of entertainment opportunities that go far
beyond basketball. The inside of the cover presents a combination advertisement for Whirlpool and
Best Buy. The page is full of vibrant colors and centers on a mirror image of a young woman
beneath a waterfall of both water and colors. "Wash Your World Clean" stands out in the middle of
the page, and the slogans for the respective advertising companies also appear: "Turn on the Fun"
and "Just Imagine" (Yearbook). Perhaps somewhat ironically, each company could effectively use
the other's catchphrase. Both promise some sort of entertainment, something that fans attending a
basketball game are certainly craving. The words "fun" and "imagine" promise to fulfill what the
readers desire. Incidentally, the "Turn on the Fun" slogan belongs to Best Buy and "Just Imagine" to
Whirlpool. The page adjacent to the colorful inside cover is quite different. It has a

The Commercialization of Colleges and Universities
With the rapid development of economy, there is the tendency that education has become
commercialized – colleges and universities have become such business enterprises that everything is
measured in terms of profits. People tend to associate education with money and believe that
education can eventually bring huge profits in the long run. Nonetheless, some people are
ambivalent about this phenomenon. While they asserting universities should be businessization
because in the real world, everything is connected with money. At the same time, they deem the
essence of education, to process of gaining knowledge, skills, and information, is twisted. If
education becomes materialized, it is not only misleading but also detrimental. In Ask not what you
can do for your university, but what your university can do for you, an article appeared in the UCLA
Student WebZine, the author points out insightfully that the change occurred within the structure of
American university system from a "high–brow institute of knowledge" to a "business enterprise"
(OW 293). As a result of this shift, students "attending college view their university education not as
a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge, but rather as a purchase. Undergraduates invest tuition
money to attend classes and, in turn, expect to receive a degree that will then precipitate a
financially successful career"(OW 293). This essay remains successful by backing his claims that
students has become investors rather than actual

The Importance Of Commercialization In Business
In May of 2017, crammed between the CEO and Optics Engineer of a high–tech startup technology
firm, I intently listened to everyone's feedback on the best way to approach the quickest path to
commercialization in a growing industry. The Panera logoed table, which served as my desk, was
home to a yellow legal pad which I used to keep an agenda of the most pressing discussion points,
along with my personal commentary. I always found it difficult to concentrate due to the steady hum
of constant conversation pervading our business meetings. Yet, there was a peace to it–serving as a
necessary reminder to the importance of failure, ethics, and ultimately, my desired path of interest in
the legal field. One year prior to this, I was in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My concerns were not alleviated, but rather partially validated as I found that the circled name had a
previous issue with the federal government for overprescribing opioids for decades, a drug used
primarily to relieve pain. With my body growing heavy and my excitement waning, I became
concerned with moving forward with someone having such a reputation. I attempted to look at it
rationally: the justice system is fair and just–he served a reduced rate from his initial sentencing and
has been out of prison for quite some time. Perhaps he was a changed person; however, I had no
way of knowing whether this was the case or not. Nonetheless, I remember my friend
recommending an ethics class with a renowned professor who specialized in this type of subject
matter. I then proceeded to email the professor and scheduled a meeting with him to seek counsel.
The cautionary words of the professor had become cemented in my brain: "run as fast as you can".
He immediately knew of who I was referring to and cautioned me against working with someone
with such an obvious disregard for the law, no matter how lucrative the offer was. I decided to call
each individual partner to inform them that I was taking a leave from the company, thanking them
for such a wonderful experience. Doing the right thing can be difficult at times. We are all
intrinsically and extrinsically driven by a variety of factors–for me, the offer that was on the table

Case Study Of The Post-Commercialization Of NAM
The post–commercialization of NAM was similar to the stage–based models. Most of the previous
works, such as Shane (2004), Hindle and Yencken (2004), Fontes (2005) and Gübeli and Doloreux
(2005), believe that the company should be established and normal business management activities
should begin. This belief is realistic and logical; thus, NAM followed it to some extent. Meanwhile,
business management activities had already started during the commercialization phase of NAM.
For examples, attending of international conferences (for marketing purposes), negotiating with
distributors and suppliers, and writing a business plan (for funding purposes) were done in that
phase.
In view of the above, it can be summarily argued that the USO commercialization process does ...

Firstly, the NAM university encourages commercialization of scientific results and it supports
researchers via its innovation office. Each year, about 4 USOs emerge from the university. This
environment enables the USO commercialization process as it was elucidated by some scholars like
Simmons and Hornsby (2014), Bradley et al (2013), Shane (2004), Caiazza (2014) and Hindle and
Yencken (2004). These factors are regarded as institutional factors which influence academic
entrepreneurship (Farsi et al., 2014). Secondly, the interest of innovators and business team was
evident from the beginning of the discovery. They have interest in solving societal problem and they
always feel good when they notice their new knowledge is useful for society. One of the interview

Commercialization Of Education By Henry Conard Analysis
The purpose of education evolved to a wrong way. Our society is expressing a wrong idea that our
student should go to university so that they can make good money. Conard, in his essay, expressing
a same idea that education is improving economics. He claims that "it's no secret that innovation
grows America's economy. But that growth is constrained in two ways. It is constrained by the
amount of properly trained talent, which is needed to produce innovation. And it is constrained by
this talent's willingness to take the entrepreneurial risks critical to commercializing innovation.
Given those constraints, it is hard to believe humanities degree programs are the best way to train
America's most talented students" (Conard). Conard's argument shows

COMMERCIALIZATION OF ORGAN TRANSPLANTS
Arguments in favor of organ commercialization
Commercialization of human organs from consenting adults will lead to an increase in the supply of
organs needed for transplants (Kanniyakonil, 2005). The major challenge in hospitals is the lack of
organs needed for transplantation to the increasing number of patients. Currently, organs are only
accepted from victims of altruism suicide and this does not cover the medical needs throughout the
world. Thus, by commercializing organs for transplants, the number of organ will ... Show more

Commercialization of organs will also lead to degradation in the medical ethics. Patients who are
incapable financially may not be given the same medical care quality as people with money.
Medical incompatibility is another reason why commercialization of human organs is not advisable.
Family members are advised to donate due to enhanced chance of molecular compatibility.
However, if organs are sold over the counter unknowing public may buy the organs without the
knowledge of the required medical compatibility. Thus, their loved ones may develop serious
medical complications or even die as a result of the transplant.
My position on the debate
My position on the debate of commercialization of organ transplants is that it should not be allowed.
This, however, does not mean that people are not participating in the practice. Commercialization of
organ transplant is a lucrative business. However, this is morally wrong and is against human ethics.
This is due to the fact that commercialization of human organs even if it results in saving lives has a
bigger negative impact on the society and on the individual. The major moral problem is that people
donating will be under the obligation of benefiting. Like is said earlier, in places where organ
commercialization is being practice, the business is very lucrative. The need to benefit from the
organ donations violates the ethics that are aligned with human

The Commercialization Of Unsafe Abortion Essay
Abortion in Zambia has been legal since 1972, and the abortion law is one of the most liberal in
sub–Saharan Africa. However, more than 40 years later, women continue to procure unsafe
abortions; approximately 97% of all abortions are unsafe in Africa (Sedgh et al., 2012). In Zambia,
this number is lower but still significant, where an estimated 70% of abortions are unsafe, and
unsafe abortion accounts for approximately 30% of all maternal deaths (Leone et al., 2016;
Cresswell et al., 2016). The pervasiveness of unsafe abortion in Zambia is due to both legal and
social factors. Main issues include Zambia's Termination of Pregnancy Act–which requires the
signature of three doctors to acquire a non–emergency abortion–a dearth of doctors in the country,
and the substantial distance one must travel to healthcare facilities. Limited knowledge concerning
abortion legality, social stigma and negative attitudes toward abortion also contribute to the
problem. Despite voicing concern for women's access to safe abortion, the government's work in
reducing unsafe abortion in Zambia to date has been largely unsuccessful (Coast & Murray, 2016).
Zambia recently re–elected president Edgar Lungu in August 2016 to serve a 5–year term.
Examining the best options to extend safe abortion services and post abortion care in Zambia during
his presidency should be a priority. Legality of abortion is not enough; the Zambian government
must address root causes of unsafe abortion and ensure

The Commercialization Of Hip Hop
Since its conception, hip hop has been a very necessary and influential art form in the way that it
gives a voice to people who would normally not have one. The fact that it was often the sole voice
for a marginalized community meant that the genre has often shouldered the "burden of being a
genuine political force." Hip hop's role in addressing the concerns of urban Black Americans has led
people to refer to it as "CNN for Black people." However, in recent times, the commercialization of
the genre (and growing popularity with white audiences) has generated a lot of criticism from many
who feel that the essence of hip hop is being destroyed and it does not have as much of a meaningful
effect on dispossessed Black youth as it used to have.

The Commercialization of Christmas
Over the years, one topic which has sparked an interesting debate among intellectuals, business men
and Christians is whether or not Christmas has enrolled into an over commercialized holiday. The
period at the climax of the year, December 25th, which we celebrate as Christmas is the time when
consumers increase their spending to an outrageous level and business persons become elated as
their shelves become depleted of the products that assist in our celebrations.

Those gifts, which we offer as tokens are representative of the gifts, were brought be the Three Wise
Men for Jesus on his day of birth.
Commercialization, however, escalates because the fruits of our own labour do not make many of
the gifts that are traded. It is substantially more convenient to stroll into any department store or
corner shop and purchase a gift which one deems as appropriate for the occasion. This convenience
has allowed the opportunistic business 'sharks' of the world to exploit such an opportunity and
diminish the importance of one of Christianity's most significant holidays. Commercialization is
therefore the outcome of this exploitation and its increase is becoming more and more evident.
Christmas then suffers as business flourish. The actual reason for this holiday becomes so immersed
under the commercial blanket, that persons not only forget the true reason behind Christmas but the
businessmen structure their entire operations around the influx in sales during the Christmas period.
The effect this has on the society cannot be ignored. Businesses slash prices in order to attract their
customers and the increase in sales is so high during this period that profits surpass any of those
made during the previous periods of the same year. Over–working becomes the direct effect of this
over commercialization. Persons have to support their families and

Commercialization of Genetically Modified Foods Following a for year investigation into the
effects of genetically modified crops on the environment, it was found that 2 out of 3 types of

modified crop to be less harmful to the environment was compared to crops that were sprayed with

However, the four year report by the Government showed that two out of three genetically modified
crops tested harmed the environment (Uhlig 2003). Scientists found that there was less wildlife in
the genetically modified fields (op. cit.). For genetically modified supporters, they couldn't even
take comfort from the fact that one genetically modified crop boasted more wildlife because the
non–genetically modified fields were sprayed with a now banned herbicide (op. cit.). So many
experts have discounted the results that showed a benefit to the environment on that crop. It is
believed that the commercialisation of genetically modified crops could bring some species of
plants and animals close to extinction due to the adverse effects that genetically modified farming
has on the environment. On the other hand, a farmer involved in the genetically modified trials,
Keith Millen who grew the genetically modified oil seed rape, said he had found "a marked
increase" in the amount of weeds in his crops and also said there were no residue chemicals on the
fields in the last year of the trials (op. cit.). This may mean that a longer time is needed to show the
effects on the environment. Indeed, the Government Strategy Unit suggests that the main benefits of
genetically modified crops to the environment

Prostitution, Prostitution And The Commercialization Of...
Prior to the decision in Canada (Attorney General) v. Bedford, prostitution and the
commercialization of sexual services was not illegal; however there were three legislative barriers
surrounding prostitution–related acts that implicated sex workers of criminal offences, thus the
decision to work safe or risk arrest made their line of work difficult (Durisin, Love , & van der
Meulen, 2013). Due to public demand and the need to clean street prostitutes, the criminalization of
prostitute related activities repressed the working conditions of sex workers (Crago & Clamen,
2013). Prostitutes – a public nuisance – had to choose whether to work safely or risks arrests (Crago
& Clamen, 2013). This paper will focus on the violence against sex workers due to the regulation of
sex workers through the Criminal Code of Canada, which increased their vulnerability to violence
from their clients and the police harassment (Lowman, 2013). The criminalization of commercial
sexual acts has led to increased violence and due to the public's perception of sex work as an
immoral act, the safety of sex workers was not adequately monitored by law enforcement agencies.
There is a need for the decriminalization of all forms of commercial sex which will create a safer
and secure environment under labour regulations (rather than criminal regulations), where sex
workers can engage in their profession without the threats or acts of violence. Under a deviant

The Commercialization Of Salem Village
The Commercialization in Salem Village A Miniature of the Early City Development Salem Village
was a small settlement under the control of Salem Town in Massachusetts. The village was
notorious for its witchcraft hysteria that broke out in 1692, and the execution of twenty accused of
being witches and wizards. The incident became an interesting topic for both historians and
playwrights. However, the bizarre witch trial and the girls' mysterious symptoms disguised the
social and political movement which subtly influenced the small village for half a century. Only
recently have historians started to dig out the complete history of the witch trials, and (have) tried to
integrate the isolated incident of witchcraft hysteria with the normal life in Salem Village.
Therefore, a new interpretation of the Salem Witch Trials emerges, where the events in Salem
Village actually represent an early form of urban and rural division. The newly found evidence
suggests that witchcraft hysteria is a direct product of social instability, which was triggered by the
rapid commercialization of 17th century New England, the division between urban town and rural
village, and the rise of the new merchant class. The Salem Witch Trial is famous for its sudden
outbreak, widespread influence, and mass accusations. The traditional story of the witchcraft
hysteria starts from the strange illness that was experienced by the local minister's daughter and

The Importance Of Commercialization Of Hip Hop Culture
It is clear that the hip hop culture plays a huge role in the lives of many people. It has influenced the
way people dress, the way they talk, and the way they act. Unfortunately, many big corporations
have taken advantage of this and commercialized rap music in order to gain a profit (Blair, 497).
Commercialization is a very complex topic; however, it is important to understand. This is because
of the fact that when something becomes widely known, such a hip hop and rap have, it is
vulnerable to change (Phillips, paragraph 9). An example of this is when author Nicole Phillips
states, "Hip–hop became more about edge and less about the content of the message. It became
about sales...." (Phillips, paragraph 9). Therefore, in order to prevent any further change, one needs
to understand commercialization and how it works. This paper is going to explore the complexities
and nuances of commercialization of the hip hop culture. In order to do this, this paper will consider
what commercialization of hip hop culture entails. This paper will also discuss how Elizabeth Blair,
author of "Commercialization of the Rap Music Subculture," conceptualized commercialization, as
well as how she discusses the situation in general. After discussing these topics, the paper will move
on to discussing cultural appropriation. This discussion will include how authors describe cultural
appropriation, and a debate regarding this topic. To begin, in order to truly understand how

Moving forward, Protecting Access To Medicare Act (PAMA) is expected to be the first real change
to how diagnostic tests are priced and how those prices are reimbursed by Medicare and how they
will impact the commercial community. PAMA has set limitations on CPT (cost per tests) codes by
using private payor reports. A marketing concern alongside PAMA CPT codes would be private
organizations like MolDx developing unique codes for molecular testing as competitors in the
market. According to an article by Turna Ray, PAMA is open to the possibility of adopting MolDX
codes as unique identifiers that meets CMS' requirements along with AMA also having the option to
adopt MolDx codes as CPT codes to meet the provisions of the new law (2015). Despite PAMA's
objectives to provide change in commercialization, the regulatory attempt might just be posed as a
price reduction initiative because payers lack the resources to regulate price adjustments (The One
Word Takeaway On PAMA, 2017). Legislative impact seems to cause many sub issues in marketing
for commercialized tests. PAMA seems to have a positive outlook in terms of a fair market rate and
variety of codes to cover all testing for patients; only time will tell how this regulatory process will

Introduction
Unfortunately, notwithstanding poet Louisa Fletcher's desire to start over, colleges and universities
in the United States will not at any time soon access the Land of Beginning Again. Those
institutions must enact meaningful change transitions from where they exist today, and there is
much change that is needed. To wit, innovator and strategic management consultant Fred Buining
asserts that higher education is in the "eye of the hurricane," which means that leaders, scholars, and
educators are not doing enough to meet the challenges they face. Buining suggests that there is "no
critical mass" in terms of the changes that are needed in higher education. Moreover, he believes
that while today's student in colleges and universities are getting younger the professors and
instructors are getting older, issues like cultural diversity and commercialization threaten institutions
of higher learning. This paper reviews and critiques scholarly sources that address issues of diversity
and commercialization on college and university campuses. Thesis: colleges and universities are in
many respects becoming very much like corporations, and this is truly the wrong direction for

Commercialization of Organ Transplants I. Introduction: The following report contains a summary
of the arguments for and against the commercialization of transplants found in the research.
Formulation on the position of which the debate of whether or not the sale of organs should be
permitted is presented. There is the defense of moral judgment with a moral argument along with
the identification of the moral principle that is appealing to the moral argument. Followed by, the
normative theory that best supports the conclusion. Determination of the considerations for and the

Therefore, moral arguments come before they result as a moral judgment. In defense of moral
judgment with a moral argument in this case, it is morally incorrect to commit a crime, break the
law, and sell a transplant organs. Another argument, according to a utilitarian would be does it make
the majority happy. (Shaw, 2011, p 31). Well, yes it makes the receivers of the organs happy if they
survive the transplant and it makes the human traffickers happy because they make money or drugs
in the exchange of set organs. V. Identification of the Moral Principle That is Appealing to the Moral
Argument: Identification of the moral principle formulated when one is young, through education or
with the careful and conscientious guidance of ones parents. Moral principle formed through what
we believe to be true, just and is a result out of duty to do the right thing, guilt, and our conscience.
Another reason to appeal towards a moral interest is "what is in it for me attitude?" and can these
morals work for me to control my own desires. (Shaw, 2011,p 22) VI. Normative Theory that Best
Supports the Conclusion: Normative theory that best supports the conclusion is the differentiation of
right from wrong and if the consequences produced were a result of a positive outcome then it was
meant to be otherwise if the outcome was negative the act is

Aesthetic Packaging : Marketing And Commercialization Of Tea
Aesthetic packaging also facilitated differentiation, advertising, and brand in an extremely crowded
market. In retailers, a variety of tea was often sold in bulk, thus it became necessary for tea
merchandisers from certain brands to "compete with identical offerings form others houses which
claimed to be superior quality. " According to the tea expert, William Ukers, "retail buyers are not
great at assessing and judging tea," but understood that superb tea packaging actually drove sales
into stores (Ukers 57–8). He would go as far as arguing that the tea industry in consuming countries
is less about the tea itself and more about the packaging, arguing that the packaging of tea
establishes the brand (Ukers 92). Djie Ting Lait echoes his sentiments, as the paper advocates for a
"properly made up package" to "draw the attention of real or potential buyers" ( Tribune 411). The
extensive discussion on tea packaging across sources highlights how the discussion of tea in the
West is informed by the marketing and commercialization of tea.
However, Djie Ting Liat's critiques, which are common criticisms found amongst those associated
with the industry, are in contrast with Hao Wu The's explanation for the industry's decline. Instead
of placing the blame on the domestic producers and distributors, Hao blames external factors which
China could not control: "It is clear that china's tea exports (like other exports) have been
deleteriously affected by circumstances over which China

Commercialization Of Art And China
Commercialization of Art in China
Introduction
Commercialization of art is a global trend in the 21st century, which makes the artworks known to
the public as everyone is able to see it in auctions, galleries and media. Commercialism in the recent
days has an important presence in the 20th century and contemporary Chinese art market, since
money is no longer an option while people are buying, selling, collecting and dealing artworks not
only in China but also all over the world. In less than twenty–year's time, the contemporary Chinese
art market dramatically grew to an enviable position due to rapid expansion of economy, boasting
with high market confidence and a record of continued growth in comparison to other markets in the

Globalization and Commercialization of Art
The effect of globalization has changed the art market globally. International trade restriction has
eliminated. Civilizations are converging, both physically and virtually (via Internet and electronic
media). Despite the financial crisis, art and the other commodities such as gold, jewelry and wine
have retained the attention and confidence of the new investor especially in China (Kadhim, 2012).
As a result, artworks are traded as asset and have become more of a method that can generate
acceptability and credibility. In the general economic concept, process of production and
consumption has four key elements: production, distribution, exchange and consumption.
Production creates products corresponding to certain human needs. Distribution and exchange
allocate the products to the final consumers. However, artworks do not follow such process; they
have become the direct objects to individuals that appreciate and collect them. In other words,
artworks create the consumers, and the consumption of artworks creates the artists (Kadhim, 2012).
China is a fast emerging country with a consumer society with consumers developing a taste for
luxury goods. And art falls into this trend as well. The need of art in China currently seems like it is
driven by monetary considerations rather than aesthetic or cultural ones (Joy & Sherry Jr., 2004). In
2014, China accounts for ¼ of

Commercialization of Photochromic Dyes and Products
Commercialization of Photochromic Dyes and Products Background While most people, including
this author, hold quite optimistic views of the photochromic industry, very little commercial success
has been realized. In Professor Giacomo Ciamician's famous paper on photochemistry of the future,
he predicted that photochromic clothing would be popular. It turns out that he was right. His paper
was written in 1912 and photochromic clothing was not commercially successful until the early
1990's. These optimistic projections are commonplace. Unfortunately, the commercial successes
have not been rapid or frequent. This paper is intended to address some of the critical success
factors in achieving photochromic related profitability. The ... Show more content on

The three most critical areas that offer opportunity under research and development are those that
effect the finished product performance to the greatest degree, specifically: 1. dye synthesis 2. dye
stabilization 3. dye application 1. Dye synthesis Dye synthesis usually has the strongest effect on the
final product because the chemical structure defines the fundamental performance of the dye. Small
performance modifications can usually be achieved using additional techniques, but large changes
become difficult or impossible. For example, changing the dye absorption from purple to blue using
an additive is often possible, but a change from purple to orange is quite unlikely. Through
synthesis, a large color change (or any dramatic property change) is much more feasible. There are
four primary areas of opportunity to enhance dye performance through synthesis. a. improve fatigue
resistance – The most common and greatest challenge to photochromic applications is product life
or fatigue resistance. By synthesizing dyes that are inherently more stable, subsequent efforts to
increase fatigue resistance can result in a final product with superior stability. Increasingly stable
products not only offer competitive advantages but can open entirely new markets and applications.
b. reduce costs – Most dyes are considered by dye purchasers to be relatively expensive as the dye
cost is usually the most expensive component in a finished product. The

Commercialization Of The IVF Industry Case Review
Commercialization of the IVF industry has increased the use of in vitro–produced embryos in the
cattle industry. However, the efficiency of producing in vitro embryos is low, so in vivo–produced
embryos remain superior. This review focuses on the issues with in vitro–produced embryos.
Normal cell communication and transcription, as well as morphology appear disrupted when placed
in culture media. Serum appears to cause changes to embryos. Embryo metabolism is altered when
cultured, as nutrient uptake increases and growth accelerates, resulting in increased birth weight in
calves. Changes in embryo physiology can lead to early embryonic death, or can negatively impact
health later in life. Although improvements can be made to in vitro ... Show more content on

Since then, the cattle IVF industry has recognized the potential for using this technology for infertile
cows, cows which have poor ovulatory responses from superstimulation, or deceased cows (14).
However, this method is more expensive than in vivo–produced embryos in North America and
therefore not used often (14). In 2011, the use of in vitro embryos increased 20% in Brazil (14).
With 53,019 ovum pickups performed, there was an average of 15 oocytes collected, resulting in an
average of 6 embryos (14). Overall, there were 318,116 embryos, which accounted for 86% of all in
vitro–produced embryos in the world (14). Generally, most embryos are in vivo–produced from
either artificial insemination or an embryo flush. Although cost is a factor for this, the reasons
discussed in this review also contribute to the lower use of in vitro embryos. Generally, in vitro–
produced embryos are used for cows which are infertile, have a poor response to superstimulation,
or deceased. The process begins with ovum pickup using transvaginal ultrasound aspiration. The
ovary and individual immature follicles are seen on a monitor using ultrasound and then collected
with an aspiration needle via the vagina. The follicular fluid along with the immature oocytes is
collected into a collection cup with a filter. Recovery of the oocytes

Comparison Of Black Noise: The Commercialization And...
Starting from humble roots, hip–hop has grown from the creative outlet of underrepresented black
teenagers living in the South Bronx in the late 1970s to a highly successful commercialized business
that in 2000 grossed over $1.8 billion in sales in the United States. (Kun, 581) Hip–hop is not only
successful in the United States, but also, its influence has permeated the entire planet, becoming a
global creative and economic force. Historically the genre has been considered representative of the
voice of the black community, but some critics argue that the commercialization and globalization
of hip–hop music dilutes its message so that the genre no longer truly represents the voice of the
black community.
In his 1999 manifesto "Fear Not of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Fitts, 224) Hip–hop appears to have gone away from the socially, culturally, and politically critical
messages dealing with the plight of generally voiceless blacks to an expression of wealth, power,
and hyper–masculinity. In an interview featured in Byron Hurt's documentary Hip–Hop: Beyond
Beats and Rhymes, Mos Def commented on the presentation of rappers, stating that in the current
rap and hip–hop culture, rappers have to assert themselves physically to seem powerful and worthy
of respect; even he, as a self confessed bookworm, believes that rappers need people to know that
they are not weak or docile. (Hurt, 2006)
It might seem odd that rappers would portray such stereotypical and possibly self–degrading image
of themselves by continuing to write songs and make videos laced with violent, sexist, egotistical,
and hyper–masculine lyrics, visuals, and overtones. However, as it turns out, rappers seems to have
less of a choice than one would think. In Hurt's documentary, young rappers were seen rapping
about very violent and sexist topics with the aspirations of one day signing with a major label and

Ethical Issues: The Commercialization Of Health Care
1. It has been noted that an insured patient is good for business, whereas a non–insured patient is
bad for business. By selecting an area of a community that has a high percentage of insured patients
is where a for–profit organization can seek to be a successful organization, and be able to provide
profits on return on investments to its owners (Andre, C., & Velasquez, M., n.d.).
Page 3 Unfortunately, many for profit organizations face ethical implications by not providing care
to the uninsured, and requesting the uninsured patients to go elsewhere for medical treatment. In
some cases there might even be certain legal implications that can result from not providing care to

The Commercialization Of Sport At The United States...
The Commercialization of Sport According to Brad Austin (2015), the US university programs on
athletics has created tangible links between the authorities of the institution and the alumni group in
two ways. One is legitimizing and codifying the alumni interest in men's and women's sports. To do
this, they even have provided alumni representatives in the athletic governing body. The second one,
is the coordination of various alumni events with the yearly homecoming events in the universities
of the US. It has been found that the American leaders used to utilize these homecoming events to
rejuvenate the spirit and affinity among the people of the country during the decades of the early
twentieth century. Thus, the universities were used to get affected by this political interest. This
political interest enhanced the initial steps towards commercialization of homecoming. Janet Harvey
(2000) has pointed out that in the last two decades the American homecoming events have
witnessed a cultural transformation towards commercialization. These transformations have long
term impact on its audience. The entertainment packages are now much more an issue of concerns
in the mainstream media than the actual sports event. The popularity has been brought to a great
extent by this hip hop culture through commercialization. Contemporary cultural analysts are mostly
concerned about analysing the impact of globalisation on the localised events like homecoming
game tailgate. The celebration

Technology commercialization and information controls:
Technology commercialization: The main aim of this lecture is to make us understand about
technology commercialization and information control. Firstly the key terms (discovery, invention,
technology, commercialization) are used to make us understand the term technology
commercialization by showing the relationship between them.
Discovery – finding a previously unknown natural law, material, property or other information –
basic science/research (quantum mechanics, genetics, periodic table, relativity, DNA)
Invention – creating a prototype of a machine or process based upon discoveries (first transistor,

Information control:
In business and accounting, information technology controls (or IT controls) are specific activities
performed by persons or systems designed to ensure that business objectives are met. They are a
subset of an enterprise 's internal control.
Commercial companies protect information for making profits and to increase the share value. The
main three things in commercial information control are patent, copyrights and trade
secrets/propritery information.
1) Patents are used to protect concepts, inventions and designs.
2) Copyrights protect publications like books and recordings
3) Any information protected as proprietary or trade secrets (business processes, internal
organization, internal research).
Employees may have to sign agreements not to disclose sensitive information outside company
(NDA, PIA).
Employees to have to sign non–compete agreements should they change employers Suppliers and
partners may also be bound by NDAs or PIAs.
Most technology commercialization involves information control. If the customer is from another
company then the information will be provided on contractual obligations. Like business plans and
organization, inventions and trade secrets, suppliers and organization and all the vital information is
not shared if they have to share the information its all done in contract bases.
Commercial technical information often termed "Intellectual Property" or "IP".

The Commercialization Of Flumist ( Medimmune ) The First...
The FDA approved in 2003 the commercialization of FluMist® (MedImmune) the first influenza
vaccine with attenuated virus. This trivalent vaccine is administrated via intranasal spray because
the virus replicates in cells lining the nasopharynx [21–23]. Use of live–attenuated vaccine has been
limited to individuals two through forty–nine years of age based on a failed efficacy to prevent
febrile illness in adults fifty through sixty five years of age [22]. As in the TIV the first step for the
vaccine production is the generation of the viral seeds that presents the circulating HA and NA and
six internal segments (PA, PB1, PB2, NS, NP, M) from the cold–adapted (ca) A/Ann Arbor/6/60 or
ca B/Ann Arbor/1/66 (the master donor virus for LAIV (MDV)) [24, 25]. The manufacture of
approved FluMist® is also based on the injection in embryonated eggs of the reassortant virus and
the recovery of the allantoic fluid with the screening of the reassortant that grows well at 25ºC
(cold–adapted) and present restricted growth (ta) at 37–39ºC and is attenuated (att). The vaccine is
tested in the ferret model [22]. Once the reassortant virus is selected, it is then injected in fertilized
eggs pathogen free (SPF) that are incubated between 48–72h at 35–37ºC. The allantoic fluid is
recovered and clarified by filtration. The virus is concentrated by ultrafiltration and diluted using a
stabilizing agent to obtain the final sucrose and potassium phosphate concentration. The virus
harvest is then

Music Licensing: Commercialization Of Art
Music Licensing
Overview
Music licensing is certainly not the ideal solution to maintain the integrity of the art. Music
licensing has created situation in which people actually have to pay to use folk songs such as
"Happy Birthday" in certain circumstances. The company that owns the license to the song actually
receives millions of dollars every year for a song that nobody knows who originally wrote.
However, compensating artists for their works is a complicated endeavor and does not receive much
public funding in a capitalist system. Therefore, even though the licensing practice may be counter–
productive the art form and overly commercialized, it is a necessary evil that must be tolerated in
modern society.
Commercialization of Art
There are several ways in which art is commercialized; especially within the music industry. Classic
bands such as the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan were criticized for allowing companies to use their
material to sell products and services. However, this is a common avenue for a musician or an artist
to profit from their works. Many companies are willing to pay a hefty premium to have their
products associated with music that has broad emotional appeal to many potential consumers.
However, many people feel that when an artist licenses their material it is a loss of integrity and that
something is lost by the commercialization of their songs. Some artists such as Hootie and the
Blowfish never accept money for their music to be

Consuming Kids : The Commercialization Of Childhood
The film, "Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood" takes a closer look at how the
negative impact advertising and marketing is having on the children who are the main targeted
audience especially because they are easy to manipulate. The United States is a country that cares a
lot about consumers. People are around advertisement and marketing all the time in every place they
go. In fact, people live to buy, people need and want things constantly and it will never stop. In the
American economy consumerism may be a leading role. Most would say the advertisements are a
way to promote information about services and products, but in most cases, it involves deception
and manipulation. For years now consumerism has been the trademark of the American way of life
and now that society has embraced it so fully, it seems that even children are being born and raised
with the same mindset. The kids influence their parents buying decicions and they're the adult
consumers of the future. Our bank account might be affected by advertisement, but many adults don't
realize the ways are brain are affected by it. Parents have to teach their kids that many of the things
advertise are not good, by not always buying what their kids want. Government regulations need to
put a stop to corporations that live, breathe and sell the idea of consumerism to children. I agree
with the film "Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood". I realized how entirely

Commercialization Of Everest Essay
When you look at the commercialization of Mount Everest, a sad story starts to unfold. People say
Everest has gone from being the definitive contest for the most capable mountaineers to a bucket list
check off for quest chasers. Problems are coming forward that are threatening expeditions and
livelihoods that surround Everest. The areas that tourists use to access Everest, and the hillside itself
is getting inundated with trash, human waste, and pollution. The backbone of the expedition
operations known as the Sherpa people are being exploited for their labor and disregarded. Little to
no regulation or policy that protects Everest and its fragile infrastructure is being created, put in
place, or enforced. Overall, things are getting out of control surrounding Everest. If Nepal's
government or people don't stand up and take ownership of their mountains, the beautiful section of
the Himalayas that holds the world's highest ground will either be closed off by country
governments, or as said before, it will really become the world's highest garbage dump.
In all of history, archives of the excursions to Mount Everest are still young. At a hefty 29,029 feet
above sea level, the same elevation commercial jet liners are flying at, it's easy to see why this
mountain summit is extremely difficult to reach. It wasn't until the 19th century it would be
identified as the highest point on the Earth's surface. In 1852 is was finally declared the roof of the

Halloween, The Commercialization Of Candy And Costumes
If Americans were asked to give examples of holidays, they would most likely mention the Fourth
of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. These specific dates, known as calendar customs,
are traditional practices that have become incorporated into culture due to "social pressure, common
usage, and parental or other authority" (Brunvand 406). Each holiday has rich, historical roots, and
many of the customs associated with them have been transmitted over several generations. In
addition, most contemporary holiday customs vary dramatically from the date's original purpose. In

The Irish, Scots, Germans, and even Haitians contributed to the rich lore surrounding this day and
helped ingrain their customs into the then–popular culture. Furthermore, there are many traditional
rituals and superstitions associated with Halloween. Since the ancient Celts thought the nonliving
roamed the earth, they created costumes out of animal pelts to ward off evil spirits. Fortunetelling
and the utilization of large bonfires for sacrifices and purification were also early customs. After the
Christianization of the holiday to commemorate saints and martyrs, the same festivities, bonfires,
and guising remained, but October 31st was renamed All–Hallows Eve. This inevitably turned into
Halloween. Similar to European traditions, America's Halloween has also evolved throughout the
years. Halloween's recognition was originally restricted in colonial America due to its non–Christian
beliefs and practices, and it was practiced at a more local level. According to an online source, "The
first celebrations included 'play parties,' public events held to celebrate the harvest, where neighbors
would share stories of the dead and tell each other's fortunes, dance, and sing" ("History of
Halloween"). Festivities were akin to European traditions, but also included ghost stories and
pranking. Beginning in the twentieth century, Halloween

The Commercialization Of Christmas And Easter

  • 1. The Commercialization Of Christmas And Easter We live in a very materialistic society where not even religion can escape the lure of commercialism. Although advances in technology have made consumerism more readily available to people world–wide, the root of secularization of the church can be traced back hundreds of years. Of course the commercialization of Christmas and Easter stands out amongst holidays celebrated by Christians; other religions also include elaborate festivities and gift giving during their religious celebrations. In addition to the merchandising during the holidays, there are countless stores and websites that offer religious items, movies and TV shows, museums and theme parks, music of every genre and ornately decorated places of worship. Although most religions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In recent years, Christmas holiday shopping has begun earlier and earlier, starting even before the end of October. Stores, street lights, and houses are decorated with brightly colored lights, animatronics, and inflatable images of Santa, Rudolph, Frosty and the Grinch. Holiday sales begin on Thanksgiving instead of Black Friday, making it impossible for salespeople to spend time with family, enjoying food and games while reflecting on all that the family has to be thankful for. Admittedly, I am not a fan of shopping on Black Friday, but I have friends that say that getting up early and rushing around stores for special bargains is a fun family tradition; however, it seems that every year there are media reports of people being injured or fights breaking out over getting that one all important item. Many people go into debt making credit card purchases of nonessential items. All that aside, though, the holiday season causes many people to become more charitable, providing food to the homeless, visiting lonely elders in nursing homes and providing clothing and gifts to children in need; it would be wonderful if people kept that giving spirit all year long. Christmas music has evolved quite a bit over the years also; Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer and I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas are heard more frequently than Silent Night or Away in a Manger. Many churches, mine included, hold Christmas pageants which include a mix of music and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Technology, Technology And The Deep Commercialization Of... For decades, people have been fascinated with the concept of making images with higher resolution and higher brightness, especially with the rapid development of film technology and the deep commercialization of entertainment. In response to limitations to different traditional projector technology, three–chips Digital Light Processing (DLP) has been developed, heart of which is the semiconductor–based Digital Micromirror Device (DMD). Thanks to the DMD 's high stability and precise control on the light source, DLP technology has been widely used nowadays. This paper gives an overview on basic working principles of DLP technology and discusses advantages of DLP–based applications. Rapid development of digital electronics technology since 1970s has brought a significant improvement on service for human beings. As one of the most well–known way to display images and videos, Digital Light Processing technology shows its revolutionary impact in respect of projection. DLP technology was originally invented by Texas Instruments(TI) in the spring of 1996 and TI has been devoted to this field so much that many extraordinary progresses have been made on DLP. Though, the core device of DLP remains unchangingly – Digital Micromirror Device (DMD). DMD, also referred to as the DLP chip, is a semiconductor device which is comprised of more than one million mirrors within an area smaller than palm and controlled by a memory chip. The DLP systems generally can be divided into two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Urbanization And Commercialization On Literature The Effects of Urbanization and Commercialization on Literature Nature is inescapable. It surrounds humanity and sneaks its way into daily life. Society draws on experiences with the environment to produce art, theater, and literature. As Tim Ingold, a professor of Social Anthropology, explains, "... nature furnishes the substance, culture the form." The imaginary worlds of stories are created from sensations gained from the environment, and culture is a medium that guides the writer in expressing his or her tale. Tales of Moonlight and Rain (1776) by Ueda Akinari was written during a time of pilgrimages, uprisings, and intellectual pursuits. Though set in the past, the book shows the influences of his environment within his nine ghost stories. The continued urbanization and commercialization of society influenced the literature produced in the early modern period, as well as views on the supernatural, by expanding on the themes of travel, loyalty, and philosophy as shown in Akinari's Tales of Moonlight and Rain. As Japan became more urbanized and roads improved, many commoners became enthralled by the opportunity to explore the world around them. However, since simply traveling to see the world was prohibited by the shogunate, many explored the world through pilgrimages. These travelers wrote dairies and poetry that described the sights and sounds they experience, expanding the culture of travel through their literature. According to Anthony H. Chamber, the translator of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Negative Impacts: The Commercialization Of Honey Bees The human population is exploding and demands more food to sustain itself. With the demand for more food we have used vast amounts of land for agriculture to grow everything we need. All of the crops we rely on require pollination from the single greatest pollinator, the honey bee. Honey bees are used all over the world to pollinate just about everything from orchids to almonds. Unfortunately honey bees are under siege and their numbers are dwindling quickly. Most honey bee colonies are commercialized, which means they are grown on farms. The farmed bee colonies are then loaded on trucks and shipped all over the country to pollinate crops. This processed is used all over the world. To put it into scale a single semi–truck carries 400 bee colonies each containing 30,000 to 50,000 bees with a grand total of about 3.5 million bees (Kraus, 2013). After shipping the bees are unloaded from trucks and placed along grid lines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every third bite of food you take was created by honey bees, whether it be a steak or ear of corn (The Forgotten Pollinators, 2012). Honey bees pollinate just about everything that is put on your table. They also contribute significantly to the economy by pollinating our crops. On average annually honey bees pollinate $15 billion worth of crops in the U.S (Sass, 2011). Without honey bees our crops will collapse and the price of food will rise beyond affordable limits. Honey bee populations are dwindling worldwide. According to the Bee Informed Organization from April 2015 to April 2016 44% of the United States bee colonies collapsed (Wright, 2016). In some places bee populations have stooped so low that they have been put on the endangered species list. On October 3, 2016 7 species of yellow faced bees native to the islands of Hawaii were placed on the endangered species list and in the same report it was found that worldwide 40% of pollinators including butterflies are facing extinction (Kennedy, ... • 6. Essay on The Commercialization of Basketball The Commercialization of Basketball The game of basketball is changing, but not willingly or by it own doing. Corporate America has been poking around in the petri dish containing American sports for years now, steering its path of evolution wherever desired. The effects can easily be seen on and around the basketball court in the form of corporate logos engrained on the floor, product advertisements everywhere from the rafters to the programs to the scorers table, and company labels stitched into players uniforms and shoes. Basketball, and sport in general, has become one of the most effective commercial vehicles and marketing tools, but at what price? How has sport, both the actual competition and the viewing experience, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why is the Target Center so saturated with these images? Entertainment. These corporations have realized that people come to basketball games to be entertained and if their products can be marketed in a way that promises entertainment, or presented in a way that is entertaining, then people will pay attention, and money. With just a flip of the 2002–2003 Minnesota Timberwolves Yearbook cover this can be seen. The reader is immediately faced with faced with a multitude of entertainment opportunities that go far beyond basketball. The inside of the cover presents a combination advertisement for Whirlpool and Best Buy. The page is full of vibrant colors and centers on a mirror image of a young woman beneath a waterfall of both water and colors. "Wash Your World Clean" stands out in the middle of the page, and the slogans for the respective advertising companies also appear: "Turn on the Fun" and "Just Imagine" (Yearbook). Perhaps somewhat ironically, each company could effectively use the other's catchphrase. Both promise some sort of entertainment, something that fans attending a basketball game are certainly craving. The words "fun" and "imagine" promise to fulfill what the readers desire. Incidentally, the "Turn on the Fun" slogan belongs to Best Buy and "Just Imagine" to Whirlpool. The page adjacent to the colorful inside cover is quite different. It has a ... • 7. The Commercialization of Colleges and Universities With the rapid development of economy, there is the tendency that education has become commercialized – colleges and universities have become such business enterprises that everything is measured in terms of profits. People tend to associate education with money and believe that education can eventually bring huge profits in the long run. Nonetheless, some people are ambivalent about this phenomenon. While they asserting universities should be businessization because in the real world, everything is connected with money. At the same time, they deem the essence of education, to process of gaining knowledge, skills, and information, is twisted. If education becomes materialized, it is not only misleading but also detrimental. In Ask not what you can do for your university, but what your university can do for you, an article appeared in the UCLA Student WebZine, the author points out insightfully that the change occurred within the structure of American university system from a "high–brow institute of knowledge" to a "business enterprise" (OW 293). As a result of this shift, students "attending college view their university education not as a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge, but rather as a purchase. Undergraduates invest tuition money to attend classes and, in turn, expect to receive a degree that will then precipitate a financially successful career"(OW 293). • 8. The Importance Of Commercialization In Business In May of 2017, crammed between the CEO and Optics Engineer of a high–tech startup technology firm, I intently listened to everyone's feedback on the best way to approach the quickest path to commercialization in a growing industry. The Panera logoed table, which served as my desk, was home to a yellow legal pad which I used to keep an agenda of the most pressing discussion points, along with my personal commentary. I always found it difficult to concentrate due to the steady hum of constant conversation pervading our business meetings. Yet, there was a peace to it–serving as a necessary reminder to the importance of failure, ethics, and ultimately, my desired path of interest in the legal field. One year prior to this, I was in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My concerns were not alleviated, but rather partially validated as I found that the circled name had a previous issue with the federal government for overprescribing opioids for decades, a drug used primarily to relieve pain. With my body growing heavy and my excitement waning, I became concerned with moving forward with someone having such a reputation. I attempted to look at it rationally: the justice system is fair and just–he served a reduced rate from his initial sentencing and has been out of prison for quite some time. Perhaps he was a changed person; however, I had no way of knowing whether this was the case or not. Nonetheless, I remember my friend recommending an ethics class with a renowned professor who specialized in this type of subject matter. I then proceeded to email the professor and scheduled a meeting with him to seek counsel. The cautionary words of the professor had become cemented in my brain: "run as fast as you can". He immediately knew of who I was referring to and cautioned me against working with someone with such an obvious disregard for the law, no matter how lucrative the offer was. I decided to call each individual partner to inform them that I was taking a leave from the company, thanking them for such a wonderful experience. Doing the right thing can be difficult at times. • 9. Case Study Of The Post-Commercialization Of NAM The post–commercialization of NAM was similar to the stage–based models. Most of the previous works, such as Shane (2004), Hindle and Yencken (2004), Fontes (2005) and Gübeli and Doloreux (2005), believe that the company should be established and normal business management activities should begin. This belief is realistic and logical; thus, NAM followed it to some extent. Meanwhile, business management activities had already started during the commercialization phase of NAM. For examples, attending of international conferences (for marketing purposes), negotiating with distributors and suppliers, and writing a business plan (for funding purposes) were done in that phase. In view of the above, it can be summarily argued that the USO commercialization process does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the NAM university encourages commercialization of scientific results and it supports researchers via its innovation office. Each year, about 4 USOs emerge from the university. These factors are regarded as institutional factors which influence academic entrepreneurship (Farsi et al., 2014). Our society is expressing a wrong idea that our student should go to university so that they can make good money. Conard, in his essay, expressing a same idea that education is improving economics. He claims that "it's no secret that innovation grows America's economy. But that growth is constrained in two ways. It is constrained by the amount of properly trained talent, which is needed to produce innovation. And it is constrained by this talent's willingness to take the entrepreneurial risks critical to commercializing innovation. Given those constraints, it is hard to believe humanities degree programs are the best way to train America's most talented students" (Conard). Conard's argument shows ... Currently, organs are only accepted from victims of altruism suicide and this does not cover the medical needs throughout the world. Patients who are incapable financially may not be given the same medical care quality as people with money. Medical incompatibility is another reason why commercialization of human organs is not advisable. Family members are advised to donate due to enhanced chance of molecular compatibility. However, if organs are sold over the counter unknowing public may buy the organs without the knowledge of the required medical compatibility. Thus, their loved ones may develop serious medical complications or even die as a result of the transplant. My position on the debate My position on the debate of commercialization of organ transplants is that it should not be allowed. This, however, does not mean that people are not participating in the practice. Commercialization of organ transplant is a lucrative business. However, this is morally wrong and is against human ethics. This is due to the fact that commercialization of human organs even if it results in saving lives has a bigger negative impact on the society and on the individual. The major moral problem is that people donating will be under the obligation of benefiting. Like is said earlier, in places where organ commercialization is being practice, the business is very lucrative. • 12. The Commercialization Of Unsafe Abortion Essay Abortion in Zambia has been legal since 1972, and the abortion law is one of the most liberal in sub–Saharan Africa. However, more than 40 years later, women continue to procure unsafe abortions; approximately 97% of all abortions are unsafe in Africa (Sedgh et al., 2012). In Zambia, this number is lower but still significant, where an estimated 70% of abortions are unsafe, and unsafe abortion accounts for approximately 30% of all maternal deaths (Leone et al., 2016; Cresswell et al., 2016). The pervasiveness of unsafe abortion in Zambia is due to both legal and social factors. Main issues include Zambia's Termination of Pregnancy Act–which requires the signature of three doctors to acquire a non–emergency abortion–a dearth of doctors in the country, and the substantial distance one must travel to healthcare facilities. Limited knowledge concerning abortion legality, social stigma and negative attitudes toward abortion also contribute to the problem. Despite voicing concern for women's access to safe abortion, the government's work in reducing unsafe abortion in Zambia to date has been largely unsuccessful (Coast & Murray, 2016). Zambia recently re–elected president Edgar Lungu in August 2016 to serve a 5–year term. The fact that it was often the sole voice for a marginalized community meant that the genre has often shouldered the "burden of being a genuine political force." Hip hop's role in addressing the concerns of urban Black Americans has led people to refer to it as "CNN for Black people." However, in recent times, the commercialization of the genre (and growing popularity with white audiences) has generated a lot of criticism from many who feel that the essence of hip hop is being destroyed and it does not have as much of a meaningful effect on dispossessed Black youth as it used to have. ... The period at the climax of the year, December 25th, which we celebrate as Christmas is the time when consumers increase their spending to an outrageous level and business persons become elated as their shelves become depleted of the products that assist in our celebrations. Commercialization, however, escalates because the fruits of our own labour do not make many of the gifts that are traded. It is substantially more convenient to stroll into any department store or corner shop and purchase a gift which one deems as appropriate for the occasion. This convenience has allowed the opportunistic business 'sharks' of the world to exploit such an opportunity and diminish the importance of one of Christianity's most significant holidays. Commercialization is therefore the outcome of this exploitation and its increase is becoming more and more evident. Christmas then suffers as business flourish. The actual reason for this holiday becomes so immersed under the commercial blanket, that persons not only forget the true reason behind Christmas but the businessmen structure their entire operations around the influx in sales during the Christmas period. The effect this has on the society cannot be ignored. Bedford, prostitution and the commercialization of sexual services was not illegal; however there were three legislative barriers surrounding prostitution–related acts that implicated sex workers of criminal offences, thus the decision to work safe or risk arrest made their line of work difficult (Durisin, Love , & van der Meulen, 2013). Due to public demand and the need to clean street prostitutes, the criminalization of prostitute related activities repressed the working conditions of sex workers (Crago & Clamen, 2013). Prostitutes – a public nuisance – had to choose whether to work safely or risks arrests (Crago & Clamen, 2013). This paper will focus on the violence against sex workers due to the regulation of sex workers through the Criminal Code of Canada, which increased their vulnerability to violence from their clients and the police harassment (Lowman, 2013). The criminalization of commercial sexual acts has led to increased violence and due to the public's perception of sex work as an immoral act, the safety of sex workers was not adequately monitored by law enforcement agencies. There is a need for the decriminalization of all forms of commercial sex which will create a safer and secure environment under labour regulations (rather than criminal regulations), where sex workers can engage in their profession without the threats or acts of violence. • 17. The Commercialization Of Salem Village The Commercialization in Salem Village A Miniature of the Early City Development Salem Village was a small settlement under the control of Salem Town in Massachusetts. The village was notorious for its witchcraft hysteria that broke out in 1692, and the execution of twenty accused of being witches and wizards. The incident became an interesting topic for both historians and playwrights. However, the bizarre witch trial and the girls' mysterious symptoms disguised the social and political movement which subtly influenced the small village for half a century. Only recently have historians started to dig out the complete history of the witch trials, and (have) tried to integrate the isolated incident of witchcraft hysteria with the normal life in Salem Village. Therefore, a new interpretation of the Salem Witch Trials emerges, where the events in Salem Village actually represent an early form of urban and rural division. The newly found evidence suggests that witchcraft hysteria is a direct product of social instability, which was triggered by the rapid commercialization of 17th century New England, the division between urban town and rural village, and the rise of the new merchant class. The Salem Witch Trial is famous for its sudden outbreak, widespread influence, and mass accusations. • 18. The Importance Of Commercialization Of Hip Hop Culture It is clear that the hip hop culture plays a huge role in the lives of many people. It has influenced the way people dress, the way they talk, and the way they act. Unfortunately, many big corporations have taken advantage of this and commercialized rap music in order to gain a profit (Blair, 497). Commercialization is a very complex topic; however, it is important to understand. This is because of the fact that when something becomes widely known, such a hip hop and rap have, it is vulnerable to change (Phillips, paragraph 9). An example of this is when author Nicole Phillips states, "Hip–hop became more about edge and less about the content of the message. It became about sales...." (Phillips, paragraph 9). Therefore, in order to prevent any further change, one needs to understand commercialization and how it works. This paper is going to explore the complexities and nuances of commercialization of the hip hop culture. In order to do this, this paper will consider what commercialization of hip hop culture entails. This paper will also discuss how Elizabeth Blair, author of "Commercialization of the Rap Music Subculture," conceptualized commercialization, as well as how she discusses the situation in general. After discussing these topics, the paper will move on to discussing cultural appropriation. This discussion will include how authors describe cultural appropriation, and a debate regarding this topic. To begin, in order to truly understand how complicated the ... In retailers, a variety of tea was often sold in bulk, thus it became necessary for tea merchandisers from certain brands to "compete with identical offerings form others houses which claimed to be superior quality. " According to the tea expert, William Ukers, "retail buyers are not great at assessing and judging tea," but understood that superb tea packaging actually drove sales into stores (Ukers 57–8). He would go as far as arguing that the tea industry in consuming countries is less about the tea itself and more about the packaging, arguing that the packaging of tea establishes the brand (Ukers 92). Djie Ting Lait echoes his sentiments, as the paper advocates for a "properly made up package" to "draw the attention of real or potential buyers" ( Tribune 411). The extensive discussion on tea packaging across sources highlights how the discussion of tea in the West is informed by the marketing and commercialization of tea. However, Djie Ting Liat's critiques, which are common criticisms found amongst those associated with the industry, are in contrast with Hao Wu The's explanation for the industry's decline. As a result, artworks are traded as asset and have become more of a method that can generate acceptability and credibility. In the general economic concept, process of production and consumption has four key elements: production, distribution, exchange and consumption. Production creates products corresponding to certain human needs. Distribution and exchange allocate the products to the final consumers. However, artworks do not follow such process; they have become the direct objects to individuals that appreciate and collect them. In other words, artworks create the consumers, and the consumption of artworks creates the artists (Kadhim, 2012). Dye synthesis Dye synthesis usually has the strongest effect on the final product because the chemical structure defines the fundamental performance of the dye. Small performance modifications can usually be achieved using additional techniques, but large changes become difficult or impossible. For example, changing the dye absorption from purple to blue using an additive is often possible, but a change from purple to orange is quite unlikely. Through synthesis, a large color change (or any dramatic property change) is much more feasible. There are four primary areas of opportunity to enhance dye performance through synthesis. a. improve fatigue resistance – The most common and greatest challenge to photochromic applications is product life or fatigue resistance. By synthesizing dyes that are inherently more stable, subsequent efforts to increase fatigue resistance can result in a final product with superior stability. Increasingly stable products not only offer competitive advantages but can open entirely new markets and applications. b. reduce costs – Most dyes are considered by dye purchasers to be relatively expensive as the dye cost is usually the most expensive component in a finished product. The Commercialization of Sport According to Brad Austin (2015), the US university programs on athletics has created tangible links between the authorities of the institution and the alumni group in two ways. One is legitimizing and codifying the alumni interest in men's and women's sports. To do this, they even have provided alumni representatives in the athletic governing body. The second one, is the coordination of various alumni events with the yearly homecoming events in the universities of the US. It has been found that the American leaders used to utilize these homecoming events to rejuvenate the spirit and affinity among the people of the country during the decades of the early twentieth century. Thus, the universities were used to get affected by this political interest. This political interest enhanced the initial steps towards commercialization of homecoming. • 33. The Commercialization Of Flumist ( Medimmune ) The First... The FDA approved in 2003 the commercialization of FluMist® (MedImmune) the first influenza vaccine with attenuated virus. This trivalent vaccine is administrated via intranasal spray because the virus replicates in cells lining the nasopharynx [21–23]. Use of live–attenuated vaccine has been limited to individuals two through forty–nine years of age based on a failed efficacy to prevent febrile illness in adults fifty through sixty five years of age [22]. As in the TIV the first step for the vaccine production is the generation of the viral seeds that presents the circulating HA and NA and six internal segments (PA, PB1, PB2, NS, NP, M) from the cold–adapted (ca) A/Ann Arbor/6/60 or ca B/Ann Arbor/1/66 (the master donor virus for LAIV (MDV)) [24, 25]. The manufacture of approved FluMist® is also based on the injection in embryonated eggs of the reassortant virus and the recovery of the allantoic fluid with the screening of the reassortant that grows well at 25ºC (cold–adapted) and present restricted growth (ta) at 37–39ºC and is attenuated (att). The vaccine is tested in the ferret model [22]. Once the reassortant virus is selected, it is then injected in fertilized eggs pathogen free (SPF) that are incubated between 48–72h at 35–37ºC. The allantoic fluid is recovered and clarified by filtration. The virus is concentrated by ultrafiltration and diluted using a stabilizing agent to obtain the final sucrose and potassium phosphate concentration. The virus harvest is then ... Growing up it is impractable to not get captured in the promotion established by the media in the commercialized society that we exist. By commercialized society, it means the United States is mostly based on the promotion and advancement of making money. Suggesting, that artists of today need to give hip–hop its original definition back. To demonstrate, "It was a fresh and inventive new kind of expression that truly emerged at street level–and it had the energy and urgency that grassroots forms often exhibit." (Saknussemm) Additionally, hip–hop was a unique sound of music. It had a certain potential that it was fascinating. It won over hearts and minds. It was a evolution of music that could have been more than what it is today. The artists of hip–hop need to take serious action against commercialization. Don't let what happened to other hip–hop artists happen to today's. To illustrate, "Look at the career of someone like Ice Cube, who took his street cred and gansta edge and became a film star in dismal middle of the road children's comedies." (Saknussemm) Additionally, Ice Cube expressed his music through political intentions. It involved some matter of commercialization but it had political intentions. • 35. Music Licensing: Commercialization Of Art Music Licensing Overview Music licensing is certainly not the ideal solution to maintain the integrity of the art. Music licensing has created situation in which people actually have to pay to use folk songs such as "Happy Birthday" in certain circumstances. The company that owns the license to the song actually receives millions of dollars every year for a song that nobody knows who originally wrote. However, compensating artists for their works is a complicated endeavor and does not receive much public funding in a capitalist system. Therefore, even though the licensing practice may be counter– productive the art form and overly commercialized, it is a necessary evil that must be tolerated in modern society. Commercialization of Art There are several ways in which art is commercialized; especially within the music industry. Classic bands such as the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan were criticized for allowing companies to use their material to sell products and services. However, this is a common avenue for a musician or an artist to profit from their works. Many companies are willing to pay a hefty premium to have their products associated with music that has broad emotional appeal to many potential consumers. However, many people feel that when an artist licenses their material it is a loss of integrity and that something is lost by the commercialization of their songs. Some artists such as Hootie and the Blowfish never accept money for their music to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Consuming Kids : The Commercialization Of Childhood The film, "Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood" takes a closer look at how the negative impact advertising and marketing is having on the children who are the main targeted audience especially because they are easy to manipulate. The United States is a country that cares a lot about consumers. People are around advertisement and marketing all the time in every place they go. In fact, people live to buy, people need and want things constantly and it will never stop. In the American economy consumerism may be a leading role. Most would say the advertisements are a way to promote information about services and products, but in most cases, it involves deception and manipulation. For years now consumerism has been the trademark of the American way of life and now that society has embraced it so fully, it seems that even children are being born and raised with the same mindset. The kids influence their parents buying decicions and they're the adult consumers of the future. Our bank account might be affected by advertisement, but many adults don't realize the ways are brain are affected by it. Parents have to teach their kids that many of the things advertise are not good, by not always buying what their kids want. Government regulations need to put a stop to corporations that live, breathe and sell the idea of consumerism to children. I agree with the film "Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood". • 38. Commercialization Of Everest Essay When you look at the commercialization of Mount Everest, a sad story starts to unfold. People say Everest has gone from being the definitive contest for the most capable mountaineers to a bucket list check off for quest chasers. Problems are coming forward that are threatening expeditions and livelihoods that surround Everest. The areas that tourists use to access Everest, and the hillside itself is getting inundated with trash, human waste, and pollution. The backbone of the expedition operations known as the Sherpa people are being exploited for their labor and disregarded. Little to no regulation or policy that protects Everest and its fragile infrastructure is being created, put in place, or enforced. Overall, things are getting out of control surrounding Everest. If Nepal's government or people don't stand up and take ownership of their mountains, the beautiful section of the Himalayas that holds the world's highest ground will either be closed off by country governments, or as said before, it will really become the world's highest garbage dump. In all of history, archives of the excursions to Mount Everest are still young. At a hefty 29,029 feet above sea level, the same elevation commercial jet liners are flying at, it's easy to see why this mountain summit is extremely difficult to reach. It wasn't until the 19th century it would be identified as the highest point on the Earth's surface. In 1852 is was finally declared the roof of the world. The first documented ... The Irish, Scots, Germans, and even Haitians contributed to the rich lore surrounding this day and helped ingrain their customs into the then–popular culture. Furthermore, there are many traditional rituals and superstitions associated with Halloween. Since the ancient Celts thought the nonliving roamed the earth, they created costumes out of animal pelts to ward off evil spirits. Fortunetelling and the utilization of large bonfires for sacrifices and purification were also early customs. After the Christianization of the holiday to commemorate saints and martyrs, the same festivities, bonfires, and guising remained, but October 31st was renamed All–Hallows Eve. This inevitably turned into Halloween. Similar to European traditions, America's Halloween has also evolved throughout the years. Halloween's recognition was originally restricted in colonial America due to its non–Christian beliefs and practices, and it was practiced at a more local level. According to an online source, "The first celebrations included 'play parties,' public events held to celebrate the harvest, where neighbors would share stories of the dead and tell each other's fortunes, dance, and sing" ("History of Halloween"). Festivities were akin to European traditions, but also included ghost stories and pranking. Beginning in the twentieth century, Halloween ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
