1. After analysing all of our audience research and feedback, we have together decided that we are going
to produce a regional fashion and beauty magazine that involves the newest fashion and beauty trends
and tips to help with our target audiences style. This would work best with main articles so we can refer
to a local 'celebrity', such as a blogger, that is seen as 'hot' right now on social media to influence the
newest style trends.
A Q&A alongside a feature article would work well as this means the magazine will involve a more
personal touch and readers would feel involved whilst not keeping it strictly to just a question and
answer article as this can become boring and repetitive. Therefore, by incorporating the two we will be
making our magazine both exciting and interactive. The local 'celebrity' would then be able to give their
perspective and answer some questions which will please our target audience as they will want to hear
about the insights of people they lookup to and idolise.
We have decided to release this edition around Spring/Summer times as this is when our target
audience will be less stressed and more willing to explore new events as most of the exams will be over
with many of our audience being students, and they will have more spare time to do fun and exciting
things. This time of year will also mean they will have more disposable income as they will possibly be
working more with school/universities being closed for the summer, allowing them to be able to buy the
products we are suggesting. Also, in our survey and focus group, they all agreed that bright and bold or
pastel colours will work best, we like this and feel that we will go with the soft, pastel colour idea as it
suits the spring and summer months but will also make our magazine fun yet mature. It is obvious what
colours connote Summerand Spring the best so we will use these light colours like pinks, purples, whites
and yellow colours, reflecting the pastel theme all the way throughout the magazine. As well as this, it
connotes nature which is a key theme during these seasons, making the magazine look bright and not
full of dull dark colours which will encourage people topick up and look at ourmagazines in stores
rather than others.
The magazine will feature mostly female models as we have found out that conventionally more females
will read this genre of magazine and we want it to be successful. So it is clear that they will want to read
about female fashion trends and not men's. However, males could still be attracted to read the
magazine due to the female on the front cover as they are intrigued and with it being a very hot and
current topic about trends being nonspecific to either males or females and each gender being able to
express themselves however they please. We will make our models look pretty and glamorous as it is
conventional tohave a model on the front that looks fashionable and like they are very good at makeup.
Because of this, females could idolise the model on the front, then by having all of features being local
our readers will realise that they are very similar to the model on the cover and they can relate tothem
highly. This will comfort our audience as they will realise this glamorous life isn't out of reach for them.
With the webpage, as we aren't very experienced in this field, we want to stay safe and stick with
conventional trends as much as possible. This means audiences won't be disappointed and audience’s
expectations will be met. Due to our lack of experience with actually making a webpage, we will play it
safe and create the first hyperlinked page mainly based on makeup the most as this is important to our
genre of magazine and can be reflected through the webpage too. Pop ups are something we will
include as they can entice people to buy our products. We will feature student discounts and incentives
as pop ups on the page to encourage people to want to buy our magazine and be loyalto our brand as
they gain benefits from it.
On each of the billboard, magazine and webpage, the typography, masthead and colour palette will
remain the same as we want the same house style for everything, purely so audiences recognise our
brand and therefore 360-degree branding can take place, meaning the brand is always linked to our
productions. This will also make our brand look professional. Our Billboards will definitely have the
Masthead as one of the biggest features on it, this enables audiences to recognise the brand from afar
2. and to make sure it is really clear. The board will incorporate lots of interesting images or one big image,
to prevent it from looking dull and boring. Which allows a different type of 360-degree branding to
occur. We don't want the billboard top feature too many things as most people will only be able to
glance at it as they are driving by and therefore there can't be too much for them to lookat as they
won't have time. The magazine will be released on different platforms, so you will be able to access the
latest magazine off the webpage and we will make this clear on the billboard that it is accessible through
other platforms.
The final point we all would like to include is: social media links, this allows the audience to interact with
the product and promotes interaction between the users, so part of the uses and gratification theory can
happen, meaning they are overall happier with the product. Furthermore, the magazine may become
more popular because it means they will have a benefit as it could seem trendy and 'cool'to be reading
the magazine and they can attach the magazine toonline references like twitter and other social media
sites.
