LSC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field athletes have recorded six NCAA Division II Automatic qualifying marks
(four men, two women) and 58 provisional efforts (32 men, 26 women). See the LSC performance list here:

The 2018 LSC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas on
May 3-4-5.
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MENâS TRACK
Javier Lopez, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, SR, Codoba, Spain
Lopez became the Javelinas first automatic qualifier of the outdoor season with a blistering 13.67 in the 110-meter
hurdles, besting the entire field, including a handful of Division-I foes, at the ACU Wes Kittley Invitational over the
weekend. The Spaniard was also a part of the 4x100 relay team that tallied its second NCAA provisional mark of the year
with a 40.76 to finish tops among all non-Division-I foes and second only to Abilene Christian on the day.
MENâS FIELD
Nils Fischer, Angelo State University, SO, Germany
Fischer grabbed the national lead in the javelin in his first competition of 2018. The 2017 NCAA Division II national
champion's best throw of the competition measure 234-3 (71.40m) on his fifth throw. All four throws recorded by
Fischer surpassed the automatic-qualifying standard. He was the top Division II thrower at the ACU Wes Kittley
Invitational.
WOMENâS TRACK
Minna Svaerd, Texas A&M University-Commerce, FR, Karlstad, Sweden
Svaerd earned a provisional qualifying mark at the UTA Bobby Lane Invitational in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of
1:01.37, the sixth best time in the nation this season.
WOMENâS FIELD
Jasmine Roberts, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Statesboro, Ga., Southeast Bulloch Co. HS/Clayton State
Roberts earned the ninth-best triple jump mark in the nation and a provisional qualifying mark at the UTA Bobby Lane
Invitational. Her mark of 38-9 (11.81m) has her in the top 10 nationally.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Marcus Parker, Eastern New Mexico University, registered an outstanding performance at last weekend's inaugural
ENMU Open. He provisionally qualified for NCAA's in the men's 200m dash with an altitude-converted time of 21.14 to
win the race. Parker also registered a first-place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 10.81.
Malcolm Woods, Texas A&M University-Commerce, earned a provisional qualifying time in the 200-meter dash at
the UTA Bobby Lane Invitational with a time of 21.36 seconds, which is the 10th best in the nation this season.
Ben Thiel, Angelo State University, ran the fifth fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles in Division II. The senior
clocked his first provisional time of 52.61 at the ACU Wes Kittley Invite to place second. He also ran a leg on the 4x400-
meter that finished with a provisional time of 3:11.43.
Johen DeLeon, Tarleton State University, competed at the Wes Kittley Invitational this past weekend and finished in
first-place in the 1500-meter run. DeLeon's time was the best performance on the day for Tarleton. The sophomore
from Robinson had the top time on the day, including the division I field. DeLeon ran a season best 3:59.21 to secure a
gold medal on the day.
Kenneth Lloyd, Eastern New Mexico University, won the high jump at last weekend's inaugural ENMU Open. His
jump of 6-8 was six inches higher than the next closest competitor.
DeVontae Steele, Texas A&M University-Commerce, put up the nation's top mark in the triple jump, winning the
event at the UTA Bobby Lane Invitational. His mark of 51-0.75 (15.56m) was 2cm short of an automatic qualifying mark.
He also placed second in the long jump at 23-4.5 (7.12m).
Richard Cervantes, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, hurled two NCAA provisional marks and ended up finishing in
the top two in all three of his events to lead the TAMUK throwers on Saturday at the ACU Wes Kittley Invite. Cervantes
hurled the shot put 59-6.75 (18.15m) to place first, added a toss of 177-11 (54.24m) in the discus for his second top
finish, and closed his day with a hurl of 160-7 (48.96m) in the hammer to finish in second to teammate Kenny Zamorano.
Cervantes now owns three NCAA provisional marks through two outdoor events for the second-ranked TAMUK men in
2018.
Rascellis Williams, Tarleton State University, competed at the Wes Kittley Invitational this past weekend. Williams
cleared 6-4.75 (1.95m) in the high jump and earned a bronze medal for his performance.
Danee Bustos, Eastern New Mexico University, registered first-place finishes in the 200m and 400m dashes and
4x100 relay at last weekend's inaugural ENMU Open. Her time of 55.56 in the 400m earned provisional qualification to
the NCAA Championships and was a Greyhound record. She was also part of the 4x100 relay team which set a team
record with a time of 47.15.
Kami Norton, Angelo State University, clocked the eighth fastest time in Division II in the 400-meter hurdles. The
senior finished in 1:01.51 to place fifth overall at the ACU Wes Kittley Invite.
Esmeralda Fuentes, Tarleton State University, competed at the Wes Kittley Invitational this past weekend. Fuentes
ran in the 5000-meter run where she finished in second-place with a time of 18:42.45.
3. Adilene Adame, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a first-place performance in the hammer throw at last
weekend's inaugural ENMU Open. Her throw of 149' was nearly 11 feet further than the closest competitor's effort.
Racheal Somoye, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, obliterated the competition in the women's hammer toss on
Saturday at the ACU Wes Kittley Invitational to tally her first NCAA provisional mark of the 2018 season to lead the
TAMUK women throwers on the day. Somoye hurled the hammer 179-0 (54.56m) in the event to beat the closest non-D-
I competitor by nearly 23 feet. Somoye was second to only one Division-I foe on the day and came within a foot of
besting the entire competition.
Autum White, Tarleton State University, competed in the hammer throw at the Wes Kittley Invitational this past
weekend. White placed sixth in the event with a toss of 126-7 (38.58m).

Last weekend, the Eastern New Mexico track and field teams began the outdoor segment of its schedule in grand
fashion. The ENMU Open marked the first time the Greyhounds hosted a meet since the 70's, which includes its entire
NCAA era, which began in the mid 1980's. Marcus Parker (200m), Danee Bustos (400m) and Kandice Miles (400m) all
registered qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships. Team records were set in the women's 400m dash and
4x100m relay. ENMU registered 18 first-place finishes at the event. The Hounds will return to action on Wednesday at
the Texas Relays.
