2. As part of the distribution process magazines and posters are to be
made this will show the audience who is in the film and or show what
the film is about. With the poster we needed to consider the main
image, typeface used, release date, slogan, from the producers of. As
well as this the colour has to be considered for the main image and the
text.

4. Main Image
The main image is to show the audience what the product is about, this would
show either the main characters or the specific reason why the film was made,
i.e. a dog or doll. For our film the main image is of a doll, with this the doll is
almost completely invisible, this shows that the characters are rather oblivious
of the dolls suspicious activities and spirit until they get really close to the doll,
this is because you have to get really close to the poster to almost see the doll
and this emphasises that when you get too close to the doll you can see the
doll for what it really is.
5. Typeface
With this a certain typeface has been used for the title of the film, this shows the
authenticity of the film and shows that it is different to other products, with this the
typeface is in red, this makes the audience think of all kinds of themes for the film, such
as death, love and romance, and danger, as well as this there is a faint glow on the
typeface and this is to show that the location is as mysterious and misleading as the
doll. With this it will entice the audience to see the film as they would like to know what
happens in the film. As well as this there is another typeface and this is used for both
the slogan and the release date and this is so there is not too many typefaces on the
screen at once with this the slogan “It’s all fun and games until the doll wants to play” is
also in red, this is so the audience would make a link between the location, which is the
name of the film, and the slogan that there will be a death or love scene and they are
able to interpret these ideas as the red colours can mean either.
6. As well as this there is a black typeface for the release date shows that it says
coming soon and with this it will create buzz as the audience don’t know when
the film will be released and it means that they will continue to wait for the film
to be released. There is a third typeface for the producers and this is so it is plain
and easy to see with this it gives an old style of font as if the film company has
worked for some time and with this it is clear that they have as they are
referencing their previous films and with this it means that the audience are able
to watch the previous films and if they already have then they will want to see
Pengyeulan more as they would be familiar with our work and this would entice
the audience into watching the product more.
7. Slogan
The slogan for the film reads “It’s all fun and games… until the doll
wants to play” this shows that the doll is alive and is capable of taking
complete control of the characters and is playing games with them as
the doll disappears and reappears at random moments each
reappearance is scarier than the last. The slogan is in a bright red font,
this is used because it makes the audience think of blood and death
and this is shown through the film and this will make it more
entertaining for the audience
8. Release Date
With our film the release date says “Coming soon” this gives the
audience no information about the release and this means the
audience would become more excited because it means that they
would be waiting longer for the film to be released and this means that
there will be more people excited and it makes our film more
important. The text is in black this means that it can be seen clearly
through the cobwebs and the picture and this means that the clues in
writing such as the slogan and the release date are the most clear and
this means that the crucial parts of the film such as the doll and the
name are hidden so there is more to find out
9. Colours
The colours help to establish the genre and theme of the film and establishes the dolls
character as the main image is of the doll. With this the whole poster is in a light grey and
with this the doll is almost completely see through this means that the audience will be able
to see through the dolls colourful domineer and see that there is more to this doll than meets
the eye. As well as this there is a cobweb on the poster and this is in a darker grey and is
placed under the dolls eye to make it look like they are crying and this would show a darker
side to the doll as the cobweb shows that the doll has been around for a long time and is
clearly very misleading, the tear on the poster will make the audience think the doll is
innocent and sweet and upset but when they see the film it will be the complete opposite
and the audience will find it more entertaining for the audience.
10. As well as this the text is in black and white in order to be seen clearly with
this it shows three types of themes in the film, the black text would establish
some mystery to the film as black is very hypnotic which means the audience
would be drawn into the poster and want to learn more about the film and
the doll. The red would emphasise death and love this is good because these
2 main themes are shown in our film as the main characters are a married
couple and they would have love for each other and this means that they
would look out for one another and show a strong connection, the red would
also show death as the tagline is in red and this is showing death as the
tagline reads “It’s all fun and games… until the doll wants to play” and this
would make the audience think the doll is possessed and will mess with the
couple and or kill them
