Benefits Of Single Species Recovery Programmes
World conservation is at a crossroads of judgement making and New Zealand provides an extreme example of issues and possible solutions. On
the positive side, more than 30% of total land area in New Zealand has been set aside for as National Parks (DOC, n.d.) and various reserved land
and is run by the Department of Conservation. Single species recovery programmes have been successful with the use of eradication of offshore
islands pests to for reintroduction of threatened onshore species such as the Kakapo on Cod fish island. However, this is in marked contrast to
biodiversity decline with up to 50% of native birds threatened due to introduced pests such as mustelids and possums. With legislation (Conservation
Act 1987), public opinion and changes in current practices, conservation and development might be able to coexist to a point where each can be
sustainable (Craig, 2000).
Brief history of land conservation in New Zealand till 1969
New Zealand is a special place as it was the last major land form to be settled as it is separated by large oceans so was largely unknown. Before the first
settlers arrived, the country had been isolated for some 85 million years with the result of different plant life, large and flightless birds as well as no
ground living mammals ("Conservation – a history", n.d.).
With the early Maori and European settlers bringing in mammals for sport and food, this had a devastating effect on the endemic wildlife population
with up to 40% of species

Business Evaluation Of The Business Idea Of Making An...
Introduction
This is the business evaluation of the business idea of making an application Smokeless. The purpose of the application is to reduce the number of
smokers and maintain the health of the society. The business idea would help, motivate and encourage people to quit smoking. The Business Idea is
having a great and positive scope in the present and also in the future because of the rising number of smart phone users. It would be extensively used
by those who are willing and determined to quit smoking. If this idea of making an application is successful then it would be really good for all
because smoking not only affects those who smoke but also those who do not i.e. Second Hand Smoke.
Business Idea Smoking is biggest cause for deaths in New Zealand taking lives of 5000 citizens every year and about 350 people die because of
what is called Second Hand Smoke(face the facts, n.d). The business idea is to develop an application named Smokeless which would be easily
accessible on smart phones. The only reason to create an application is to make it more accessible. Smokeless is a high quality personalised service
that includes daily phone calls, motivational messages, provided by qualified counsellors, calculator to calculate what amount can be saved if a person
quits smoking and also hypnosis sessions. Hopefully the application would encourage people to stop smoking and reduce the number of smokers in
New Zealand.

Personal Narrative: My Chronic Illness
"But you don't look sick!"–– Wow, thanks, am I supposed to take that as a compliment: that my chronic illness hasn't yet affected my appearance?
There is no real way to look like you have a chronic illness. Maybe when I'm in my back brace it's more noticeable, or when I'm forced into my various
other braces and supportive wraps it's apparent that my body is in a constant war with itself. Newsflash: I am sick. I was sick when I was born, I
am sick right now, and I will be sick when I die. I am, forever and always, sick. I have Sjogren's Syndrome and my body is tearing at and inflaming
my connective tissues continuously. My body is a warzone where my white blood cells wage battle against my muscles. There is no cure and there is
no one symptom;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If I'm mid–conversation and I forget everything relative to what was happening, and someone says "Oh, yeah, I hate when i forget things!", I will
become immediately annoyed. Brainfog cannot be sympathized with unless you've personally experienced it, and as it stands, that's not all that's not
all it is. It's the numbness in my hands and feet that has to be surgically treated every ten years. It's my orthopedic surgeon looking at me and saying,
"Remember my number: no doctor you have is going to want to treat you surgically because of your age and regardless of what your blood tests say,
they won't believe that you have Sjogren's without another doctor saying so." And I guess that sums it up– that my future doctors will be looking at
medical proof of my condition and not believe that it's real because I don't fit the general census. Because I'm a teenage girl, not a postmenopausal
woman over the age of fifty, there is no possible way that I could know what I'm talking about and there is no way that I could have this chronic
illness. Except I do. I have a chronic illness, and regardless of what I look like, I am sick. I will continue to be sick, and I'll continue to look like I'm

Ginny Blackmore Research Paper
On the year March 1986 Ginny Blackmore was born in Auckland, New Zealand. At the age of 9, Ginny exactly describes on one her interviews that
when she was watching Sister Act 2 in a movie theatre, Lauryn Hill's singing had her captivated. And so Lauryn Hill musically influenced her that
she decided to become a singer. Blackmore grew up in a religious family and had little knowledge of secular music. She says 'It was the first time I
heard hip–hop, R&B and soul.' She came out of the theater and said 'That's what I want to do. I chose music that day.' Since then she threw herself
into music. But the beginning of Blackmore's career began when she left school at the age of 16. In the year 2001, Ginny spent a... Show more content

She states 'I had to work from 9 to 5, five days a week. If there wasn't music coming out of the room for no longer than half an hour, my dad would

made a demo and a mini album which didn't turn out good. But after earning enough money from music, she decided to travel overseas in LA. In
2004, at age 19, she moved to London and months after, she signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV. As she was pursuing a solo career, she had in
mind to write songs for artists and Christina Aguilera happened to record one of her songs Sing For Me for her 2012 album LOTUS. She also talked

New Australia And New Zealand
New Zealand is more than just a beautiful country, it is an investment opportunity waiting to happen. The land is filled with natural beauty and can be
seen even in the big cities. New Zealand preserves the countryside because they know how important it is to be close to nature. The government is very
forward thinking. New Zealand's economy is growing and business opportunities are everywhere. The growing free market has increased development
in many sectors of business within New Zealand. History
About 1000 years ago, Polynesian's were the first to inhabit New Zealand. They became the Maori people. Then in 1642 the European explorer, Abel
Janszoon Tasman, sailed to the island. Unfortunately his arrival brought about violence and Abel Janszoon Tasman left to return home shortly after the
violence erupted. In 1769 two European captains land in New Zealand thus bringing with them muskets that start a war between waring Maori tribes. In
1840 some of the tribe leaders and the British Crown signed the Treaty of Waitangi, which brought the country under British control and gave the Maori
equal rights as the British citizens.
In 1893 women were given the right to vote, in 1898 they started pensions, and in 1907 they founded a child welfare program. Since 1941 the country
has had socialized medicine. New Zealand has signed several trade agreements. According to the New Zealand Trade & Enterprise website the
agreements signed are;

Lorde's Writing Style
With the alternative music scene mainly dominated by guitar–wielding male artists who bear similar sounds and tunes, it is beyond refreshing to hear
the unique melodies and mysterious tones of Ella Yelich–O'Connor. The New Zealand native singer–songwriter, who is more recently known as Lorde
has been compared to nineties alternative bands such as Mazzy Star and Portishead (Lipshutz, Jason). According to a Clash Music article, Lorde's
songs do not rely on open letters, open legs, or twerking. Her moments of "sharp satire and sentimental brevity" are what's helping her stand out
among her pop competitors like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift (Zadeh, Jason). Worried less about the emotional baggage of a prosperous music career,
Lorde would rather... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lorde's first performance in the United States was a headline show at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City on August 6, 2013. The captivating tune
intrigued radio listeners from around the world, becoming the first song by a female solo artist to steal the number one spot on Nielsen BDS–based
Alternative Chart since Tracy Bonham's "Mother, Mother" in 1996, five months before Lorde was even born (Billboard Magazine). "Royals" went
on to accomplish much more than just that. The single took home Best Song of 2013 by MTV News. The hit song was also nominated for four

All 3 countries, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom offer different variations of the same tax credit that helps families with children
afford their needs. In comparison New Zealand, Australia has very similar requirements that make people eligible for this tax credit. Australia is the
country with the least variations of family tax credit offered to caregivers. In New Zealand a parent can receive working for families' tax credit even
while they are on parental leave. However, in Australia, FTB part is not available when caregiver is on paid parental leave but part A is still available.
While Australia and New Zealand have a certain proportion of hours for which the care giver must look after the child, in UK the credit is available

The Anzac Legend : An Important Aspect Of Our Identity Essay
The Anzac legend is an important aspect of our identity as a New Zealander. We have every reason to be proud of this historical event. In saying this,
many New Zealanders died for us (as New Zealanders) and for our country, in order to give us a chance for a good life and be able to make a success of
it. This essay will examine reasons of the Anzac legend and how it has been incorporated into the New Zealand identity. One aspect that this legend
evaluates its place in our national identity is our pride. Our pride is shown immensely through the Anzac services that are both commemorated here
in New Zealand as well as Gallipoli. We as New Zealanders are so proud that even though we did not succeed in the battle of Gallipoli, we made an
effort to fight as brothers in arms until the very end. We acknowledge this proud moment in our history as that is how people recognise and identify
us as New Zealanders. Another aspect that made our identity incorporated with the Anzac legend was our Ingenuity that we as New Zealanders were
and are still well known for. The other point that makes our identity unique with the Anzac legend was the bonding with our fellow comrades, such as
the Australians (as the corps was known as the Australian New Zealand Army Corps). New Zealand has had a long and positive relations with our
neighbour Australia, especially during the time of the Gallipoli war. The bonding with the Australians was very important during this battle as they had

Polynesian People
Polynesian people, as a collective race, are highly varied and have many distinctive ethnic groups across numerous island nations. All of these groups
have an individual culture and language system with many regional dialects among them, although segments of some of them transfer from one group
to another through cultural sharing among mingling peoples, so there are some similarities among groups that historically descended from or
interacted with one another.
Non–Polynesians, sometimes called palagi, which is a Samoan word that has been colloquially adopted into many Polynesian languages as well as the

Persuasive Essay About Refugees
In today's world, and the past few years, there has been a high concern for immigration and the influx of refugees around the world and I would just
like to ask how many of you like myself are fed up with the constant headlines of so called illegal immigrants and refugees that are supposedly
rushing to enter our borders in the hope of a better life for their families? Meanwhile, we as people sit in front of our 20–inch TV screens with food on
our tables laughing and complaining in our roofed houses about humans who are in search of a better life while fleeing war, poverty and potentially
death with the aid of those deceptive criminals, the people smugglers, to make their way through continents on unseaworthy boats risking the horrid
fate of drowning at sea.
The issue of immigration and the incoming of refugees from third world countries to industrially developed countries is one of the biggest
humanitarian crises today and it has raised security concerns to many citizens globally because they may fear that immigrants may take their jobs and
homes. However, I do believe that the presence of immigrants and refugees are a positive contributor to the society and the economy of any developed
country for instance jobs and skills gaps can be filled, the economic growth can be maintained, administrations to a maturing population can be
managed when there are deficient youngsters locally, the pension gap can be filled by the contributions of new young migrant workers and failing

The Ideal Family Has Changed Considerably Throughout Time...
Discuss the view that the term Family is a form of ideology rather than simply a descriptive concept. Draw on sociological research to support your
answer.
The ideal family has changed considerably throughout time changing attitudes towards gender and roles and expectations, as well as Society 's is
gradual acceptance of homosexuality has seen radical changes in what is considered an ideal family. Shifting views in what is considered an ideal
family shows the family is a form of ideology rather than simply a descriptive concept.
In sociological terms there are many definitions of family. In the modern world however we are bombarded with images of the ideal construct of the
family three advertising and other media. This ideal construct depicts The nuclear family consisting of a mother and a father and several children.
Advertising shows us that this ideal construct is one of domestic bliss and fulfilling lives. These lives are enhanced by superior cleaning agents,
excellent cars and nurturing home environments for the children. Occasionally the media depicts grandparents and other relatives "popping in" to help
out the nuclear family.
This idealised view of the family is the one used by mainstream political parties to convince voters that their policies are the ones that will protect the
family unit and enable them to thrive and be successful.
The ideology of the nuclear family is important to a capitalist economic system. The nuclear family enables the provision of

There are many similarities and differences between the Australian and New Zealander culture. Even though, there is a huge difference between the
population size, the way people in both countries communicate, treat each other and socialize with each other is very similar. In both nations, people
have a very open and frank way of communicating. The way they joke around may seem offending but it should not be taken seriously because they do
not mean anything rude. In both cultures, bragging and self–praise is frowned upon because they believe that everyone is equal regardless of how

Among the Maori, there is a pattern of domestic sexual abuse and voilance which effects the New Zealander culture as a whole. Under the law, there
are no gender discriminations but it can still be seen among professions; in 1997, there were 402 male professors and 46 female ones. Interesting thing
about New Zealand is that even though there is a difference between some professions, most business executives are women.
Marriage, Family and Kinship – In the country, most marriages are done by mutual consent but a parent's permissions is needed if one of the
partners is under 20 years of age. Marriages are conducted by a Church priest or a vicar where the weddings are kept traditional but changes can be
made if people wanted to plan them themselves. In order to get a divorce, the couple has to live apart for at least 2 years.
There has been a rising in single–parent homes but most Maori's and their extended families live in the same neighborhood or in the same household
that consists of relatives. Religious Beliefs – There has been a huge increase in Muslim, Buddhist and Pentecostal religion and the number of Christians
is around 13.8

Annotated Bibliography Of Family Life
Assignment 1 – Annotated Bibliography of Family Life
Baker, M. (2001) Families, Labour and Love: Family diversity in a changing world. Crows Nest, NSW: Allen and Unwin.
Sociologists use the term 'families' in plural rather than 'family' to represent the variations in family life.
Societal changes contributed to divorce rates, focusing more on personal happiness, higher martial satisfaction and women ability to survive
economically outside marriage.
Extended family households were more prevalent before industrialism and were more widespread among indigenous people prior to colonization.
The wife takes on the expressive role, maintaining social relations, while the husband assumes the instrumental role of providing the income.
Structural functionalists argue that family provides order and control within society and describe family as only one acceptable ... rather than variations.
Diversity is an important aspect of postmodern families.
WhДЃnau is the most fundamental principle of Maori family life.
This book provides a very detailed and widespread overview of family life within New Zealand, by examining the factors which have changed and
shaped family structure such as economic status, globalization, cultural traditions, etc. to clarify and outline the diversity of families. Baker discusses
many theories of the differences of family life such as elaborating on social diversity, outlining the increase of personal satisfaction within marriage and

out of the pack and lit it. I took a drag, watching the smoke curl and twist as I exhaled. "There really isn 't any excuse for this," I thought to... Show

I 've almost hit rock bottom. I 'm so ready to disappear, to be honest. I didn 't realize that this one person was the only thing keeping me going until
he disappeared like that. I was about ready to buckle under my thoughts and weep like a child. That 's when I heard a voice. "Jonas, you 're not
pathetic, at all." I looked up from the ground to see a familiar face. At first I denied it at all costs, there was no way, I must have been seeing ghosts,
or hallucinating, or something. There's no way that he could be here. "J–Jason?" I muttered in disbelief. I stood up so as to get a better look at him. I
placed my hands on either side of his face and ran my thumbs over his cheeks. Jason placed his hands over mine and smiled. "In the flesh." "But
how? We all saw you, dead, how did you–?" He pressed a peck to my lips to shush me. "It doesn 't matter." There was a silence between the two of us
until I began to tear up. I smiled for the first time in a long time, and a sob began to make its way through the air, making my body quake as I threw
my arms around him. I could almost feel the sympathetic smile emanating from his soul as he comforted me just as he always used to. My tears
eventually subsided, after what seemed like years. "Why the hell did you do that?" I spoke quietly. Jason seemed surprised by my question, as if he
wasn't expecting me to wonder why the hell he was gone for a year, and not dead. "Do what?" I looked at him

Ireland Fits Well Into Arend Lijphart 's Consensus Model...
Scotland fits well into Arend Lijphart's consensus model of democracy, however only to a certain extent. Arend Lijphart's strategy of the consensus
model is how majoritarian a government is. The consensus model aims to share out power so that it is not all down to the one governing party. The
consensus model is very important when it comes to Scotland as it can be argued that is only effective for highly divided societies. There are a few
significant elements such as party systems, proportional representation and the comparison between the Scotland and New Zealand which will be
investigated in this essay.
Arend Lijphart could argue that Scotland is moving away from a firm two–party system and drawing closer towards a multi–party system. Currently in
Scotland, the Scottish National Party (SNP) is the largest party in the country, with two medium parties which are the Scottish Conservatives and
Unionist Party along with the Scottish Labour Party. Moreover, the shape in which theScottish Parliament was designed is to promote consensus and
grown up debate rather than the set–up of Westminster as it a confrontational style of politics. There are also two smaller parties which are the
Scottish Green Party and the Scottish Liberal Democrats. The multiparty system enables more than one party to take charge of the country as it is
trying to get as many people as possible governing for the country which can be extremely beneficial as it allows power–sharing and therefore in time

Maori population has evolved in New Zealand. They were founders of the Island after which the English men came to actually find New Zealand and
signing of the treaty and their interactions with the Europeans. The history of New Zealand is incomplete without bringing in the Maori population.
The first settler of the land, Maoris also led to the talks and discussions with Europeans. These interactions further promoted the island being annexed
by the Europeans and having more and more settlers come in. Unlike many other countries, there is still a significant amount of Maori population
residing in New Zealand. This is also confirmed seeing that the Maori language is one of the national languages. A lot of the Maoris made

The Impact of New Zealand banks
New Zealand's banking system has its roots in continental Europe. The first trading bank (the union bank of Australia) was established in 1840. After
1860, a numbers of other Australian and British banks followed, three were British overseas banks, two were Australian and one was local. Therefore
the New Zealand banking sector has a long history of foreign ownership
The government began to ease the restrictions of financial institutions from 1975, and the deregulation of banking was introduced in 1986, the main
effect of the deregulation programme was to remove the legislation that restricts competition within finance sector. Since 1987 there have been only

United Kingdom And There Westminster System Essay
Most countries have a written constitution, which is a single document that delivers straightforward principles that practise public power and how they
exercise that public power. Furthermore, it offers techniques and procedures of how the constitutional rules are enforced and how they can be changed.
For New Zealand, we follow the United Kingdom and there Westminster system, as ourconstitution in "unwritten". New Zealand's constitution has
always gained controversy, but the fact of the matter is we do have a constitution even if it's not documented or compiled into one document as a
whole. It is a very important aspect of New Zealand's history and it is what shapes today's society. This essay seeks to examination what a constitution
in general terms is, what New Zealand's constitution consists of, how the monarch or head of state links directly to New Zealand's constitution and
connections with the government, what republicans believe in and what a republican society looks like from countries that live in it, explanations of a
democracy, and lastly the effects of what would happen regarding the constitution, government, and society if there was a decision made to abolish the
monarch in New Zealand.
Public power and the power of the state or government is what a constitution is about. It explains the key foundations of government, shapes their major
powers, and regulates the exercising of those particular powers. While many, if not all constitutions from around the world

Taxation International Comparison Assignment
One of the major purposes of taxation is to redistribute income. The government aims to collect from earning of residents and distribute it to those
who are incapable for supporting their families. The main benefits offered to families in New Zealand, with Children less than 18 years of age, are
the working for families' tax credit and parental leave. These tax credits provide income tested benefits to families with children at home who are
under 18. There are different criteria put in place to check the eligibility of the individuals receiving the credit. The idea of family tax credit is to ensure
that every child in New Zealand is bought up in stable environment where they feel safe and healthy. All payments are made to an eligible parent to
help with the family 's day–to–day living costs. According to statistics New Zealand "1 in 4 children under the age of 18 live in households defined
as medium or high risk, or those with more than 3 risk factors". (Statistics New Zealand, 2012) These risk factors include low economic standard of
living, poor housing problems, over crowded houses and limited access to facilities. For this reason, it is duty of the government to ensure that, every
child in this country has access to a decent standard of living. This includes access to food, healthcare and education.

The Treaty of Waitangi
When dealing with two vastly separate cultures from different worlds, it becomes apparent how things can get misconstrued. Te Triti O Waitangi is the
starting point of a complex piece of Aotearoa history. This essay gives a short commentary on the context around the signing of Te Tiriti. It includes the
articles and inconsistencies between the documents. Further discussion identifies breaches of Te Tiriti in regards to health and the consequences for
Maori. Finally the potential role that Te Tiriti plays in the health recovery for Maori concludes this dialogue. Prior to European in Aotearoa,MДЃori

Breaches of Te Tiriti have had far and wide reaching implications for MДЃori health. Legislations contradicting all facets of Te Tiriti led to the
dissolution of Maori rights (Naumann, et al. ,1990, p.54). These laws encroached on MДЃori way of knowing and being. For example, the banning of
Te Reo MДЃori in public, almost single handedly drove this oral culture to extinction, as the vehicle for driving tikanga and kawa is language. MДЃori
were punished for speaking te reo and chose to protect their tamariki by not passing on their reo (Selby & Laurie, 2005). A whole generation had
passed before the detrimental effects of those actions were comprehended. Due to assimilation MДЃori cultural identity was systematically removed
and replaced with western ideology (Durie, 1998).
The Constitution Act (1852) gave the right to vote based on single title, land owned communally left MДЃori ineligible to vote. The Native Land Act
(1862) let pakeha apply for land title, which was then heard in court and given to Pakeha (Naumann, et al., 1990, p.55). As more land was confiscated,
economic viability for MДЃori became limited. This land alienation and urbanisation created poverty that rapidly developed within MДЃori
communities. Whanau left their turangawaiwai to work in the city, often collecting minimal wages. This cycle forced MДЃori into the welfare system
(Durie, 1998). As a direct result of colonisation, viral diseases plagued the country to the deaths of

The Chemical Compounds Of Sodium Fluoroacetate
Sodium fluoroacetate, known more commonly as 1080, is a chemical compound that is used as a pesticide in New Zealand, to control the population of
the common brushtail possum. It occurs naturally in several plant species as a defence mechanism against herbivorous organisms, but can also be
produced synthetically. When being used to eliminatepossums, the poison is typically in the form of a small, green, marshmallow–esque pellet, called a
'bait'. These baits are then covered in a cinnamon scent, which serves to attract possums, whilst also discouraging other organisms from consuming
the baits, and subsequently being poisoned. The baits are deposited into the intended areas via airdrops from helicopters, as this allows the baits to
be placed in areas that are too difficult or dangerous for trappers to reach, and also ensures an even spread of the poison. 1080 works by disrupting
the krebs cycle of the organism affected, a vital part of cellular respiration. It halts the cycle, which results in the accumulation of citrate in the
bloodstream, depriving cells of energy. The organism will become lethargic, and in the case of possums, will typically die within a day of
consumption of a lethal dose, from either respiratory difficulties, or cardiac arrest. This, however, assumes that a lethal dose is ingested by the
organism in question. The poison has no known antidote. If the dose is not large enough to result in the death of the organism, the organism will
eventually pass the

Levels Of Life Satisfaction / Well Being Are Measured...
Levels of life satisfaction/well–being are measured under different manipulative conditions, being, avoidance social goals and approach social goals,
with different relationship status as affecting variables. An association claim was made while looking at the correlation between different romantic
relationship status participants with avoidance or approach social goals and their life satisfaction/well–being. Prior research indicates that all
individuals experience more life satisfaction when they are involved in a romantic relationship, but current research rejects this idea because
individuals with high avoidance social goals may not experience more life satisfaction when he/she is involved in a romantic relationship. Two studies
were done but the first study showed strong gender imbalance; thus, the second study was focused upon. The second study sampled 4000 New
Zealand residents and the results show that participants with high avoidance social goals report life satisfaction when involved in a romantic
relationship to be just as high as when single because they feel relieved from the anxiety and conflicts one may encounter in a romantic relationship.
Conversely, participants with low avoidance social goals report less life satisfaction when single because they lack the support a romantic partner may
contribute. Participants with either high or low approach social goals report higher life satisfaction when one is involved in a romantic relationship
than single. It is

Women And Women 's Political Status
Traditionally, politics has been a gendered occupation. Men and women have been socially constructed to believe only men are capable of political
representation. The problem lies within an institutional bias, where unnatural distinctions have been put in place from a young age. In New Zealand,
the presence and contribution of women have been pivotal to the make up of contemporary party politics. Achieving parliamentary recognition and
political representation peaked during the 1970s when the country was experiencing large changes in its economic and social environment. Through
activism and pressure groups, women were able to seek recognition in New Zealand's political domain. The change to Mixed Member Proportional
(MMP) eased the access of different political groups to parliament, improving the representation of minority groups such as women that have been
under–represented in politics. Proportional representation offered new opportunities in terms of policy change through women's political participation.
It has, however, been argued that the structure of proportional representation has been a hindrance toward a significant step forward for women's
political participation. This essay will discuss to what extent the contribution of women through time, coupled with the shift to a new electoral system
in a changing social environment, has been a step forward for women's political participation in New Zealand party politics.

Pros And Cons Of In Vitro Fertilisation ( IVF )
"In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process of fertilisation where an egg is combined with sperm outside the body, in vitro("in glass"). The process
involves monitoring and stimulating a woman's ovulatory process, removing and ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from the woman's ovaries and letting
sperm fertilise them in a liquid in a laboratory. The fertilised egg (zygote) undergoes embryo culture for 2–6 days, and is the transferred to the same or
another woman's uterus, with the intention of establishing a successful pregnancy."
"Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) refers to the genetic profiling of embryos prior to implantation, and sometimes even of oocytes prior to
fertilization.
PGD is considered in a similar fashion to prenatal diagnosis. When used to screen for a specific genetic disease, it's main advantage is that it avoids
selective pregnancy termination as the method makes it highly likely that the baby will be free of the disease under consideration. PGD thus aids
assisted reproductive technology, and requires in vitro fertilization (IVF) to obtain embryos or oocytes for evaluation."
While PGD has many benefits, especially for potential parents who may be at risk of passing on genetic defects, opposition to the use if this
technology has come in many forms.
Opposition ranges from the view which believes an embryo has full moral status from the moment of conception to the other end of the scale where
people believe that the use of this technology will lead

The Pros And Cons Of Microbeads
Microbeads are tiny bits of plastic they are frequently used in all sorts of everyday care products such has face wash, toothpaste, and boconcerns
dy washes such as scrubs. It can also be found in the food we consumed a lot of cleaning products we use have microbeads in them too. The world
has a very large issue with plastic over use. Plastic is an item that nearly all products are made from, we use plastic everyday but is it actually
healthy or good for the planet in the long run? Microbeads have come up many times on the New Zealand news over the past few months with people
sharing their worries and about microbeads and advising that they should be banned from the country. Scientist are also suggesting that there are not
many positives for microbeads and there are far too many very bad consequences for microbeads to be ignored.
Microbeads are just adding to all the other unnecessary plastic that is floating around in the ocean, on the side of the roads polluting and in the forests.
They can be replaced by natural products for example a face scrub can use apricot seeds instead. Microbeads has many has harmful chemicals in them,
if you accidentally swallow some toothpaste that contains microbeads it can become a health risk. "Scientists fear that chemicals in plastics and also
chemicals which attach themselves to plastic in the natural environment could cause poisoning, infertility and genetic disruption in marine life, and

The Abolition Of The Monarchy Affect New Zealand 's...
Word Count: 2036 words
How would the abolition of the Monarchy affect New Zealand's constitutional structure?
Abolishing the Monarchy in New Zealand would inherently call into question the issue of constitutional reform. New Zealand would need to consider
having a written constitution. In this essay the focus will be on 'Independence and a Written Constitution' in relation to steps that may need to occur for
New Zealand to become a Republic. I will reflect on the use of the word 'may' briefly as there are merits in remaining with an "unwritten Constitution"
mainly in relation to the fluidity that has historically led New Zealand's gradual progression to Independence.
New Zealand is a democracy and constitutional monarchy; the Head of State is the sovereign (Queen Elizabeth II) whom is the source of legal
authority in New Zealand. In her role as Queen of New Zealand, Queen Elizabeth II acts through a representative appointed on the recommendation of
the Prime Minister for a period of five years. The formal title is Governor–General and Commander in Chief of New Zealand . The office and powers
of the Governor–General are set out in the Letters Patent, revised in 1983 and amended in 1987 and 2006 . The office of the Governor General
"symbolises unity and stability," it is not dependent on the continuation of a government.
The Letters Patent empower the Governor–General to constitute and appoint various officers, such as members of the Executive Council and

Defining Characteristics Of The New Zealand Constitution
Public Law: Defining Characteristics of the New Zealand Constitution
ID: 62952639
A constitution revolves around public power. It is the body of law that creates and regulates the application of the powers . The nature and application
of these powers are the one of the most fundamental components of an evolved society. NZ has a number of unique and defining characteristics to its
constitution, the origins of these powers and their application have far reaching consequences for the people of New Zealand. Perhaps the most
principled featured of our legal system is the concept of parliamentary sovereignty. There are a number of constitutional characteristics that heavily
influence the scope of parliamentary power in New Zealand. Most notably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This incremental change is vital to ensure the constitutional law is developing alongside the ever changing societal and political view. It also ensures
democratic legitimacy as the power is placed in the hands of the democratically elected parliament, rather than the with the judicial discretion of the
courts . This a key identifying feature that has far reaching practical consequences in New Zealand society. Despite the checks and balances on
parliamentary power that the unwritten constitution itself provides. The concept of parliamentary sovereignty carries with it an inherent ability to
abuse power. The AG v Ngati Apa decision is a prime example where a tyrannical government can in essence alienate the rights of minority citizen
groups. The fundamental legal principles that underpin our unwritten constitution have led to some questioning as to the extension of these
parliamentary powers, Cooke's judgement in Taylor v NZ Poultry Board being a prime indicator of this. The unwritten nature of New Zealand's
constitution is a unique and defining characteristic of our constitution, its fundamental principles are weaved throughout parliaments application of its
power.
Another constitutional feature with heavy influence on parliamentary sovereignty is the concept of legally entrenched provisions. The concept of
entrenched provisions hold value for its democratic stability, fundamental rights protection and its

Marketing Cost And Intruding New Products
Introduction
After studying the two options, I am in the favor of the second option that is of market penetration. As per Arkolakis, C, 2008, market penetration
means focusing on the marketing cost and intruding new products. Fly Buys is large business with having almost 2.5 million of card holders and
among these number, 1.3 million is of active households. It has been observed that in New Zealand, around 30,000 times the card is swiped in a single
day. It is seen that the benefits of Fly Buys is more for the customers as comparing with the supermarket fuel discount schemes (Wright, K., &
Baumann, C. 2007).
Opportunity:
As selected previously the Market penetration is good option for the company to have growth in the coming years. This strategy focuses on the
marketing and sales to have deepen effect that before. Moreover, the people are preferring to buy with the swipe cards to get rewards. So, it is good
to have more brands in the has exiting market rather completely as new program. Fly Buys already has a market and well known loyalty program. So it
would be less investment tool for the company to adopt market penetration
Challenges:
There are some challenges that are faced while implementing the market penetration. Some of the limitations are described as,
The profits after the investment to attract more customers doesn't work sometimes.
The saturation point of the market that is the customers are satisfied.
If all the customers are existing ones. (Neil

New Australia And New Zealand
New Zealand is a vast and amazing small country in the Pacific Ocean, whose cultures are very unique. The people of New Zealand are called
Kiwis, because of the country's national bird, the Kiwi. The Kiwis of New Zealand are a very polite culture and have great manners. They are some
of the most polite people in all of Britain. The culture of New Zealand differs from what other people in the world are used to. New Zealand is a
small country made up of islands in the southwest Pacific Ocean. The island country of New Zealand was originally discovered by Polynesians in the
years 1200 and 1300 AD (Wilson 1). The Polynesians were people who spread civilization throughout the Pacific and were made up of Samoans,

Since 1978 the New Zealand diet consists of meat, potatoes, vegetables in season, fruits in season, dairy and fish. Dietary and food items are
always available in supermarkets to just go and grab the food you need. The Maori dishes are different than the conventional New Zealand cuisine.
The Maori dish consists of seafood, birds, pork, lamb and kumara. On Christmas the meal consists of turkey and ham, along with Christmas pudding.
(Wilson 1). People under the age of 18 are not allowed to buy alcohol, and driving after drinking has heavy penalties. New Zealand has a drinking
custom called shouting, where if a person buys someone a drink, they are required to buy that person their next drink (New Zealand Customs &
Culture 1).
There are two types of ways to dine in New Zealand, with New Zealand etiquette or with Maori etiquette. New Zealanders politeness and etiquette
are reflected in their table manners. For New Zealanders, the more formal a meal is the more etiquette and disciplined they must be. If it is just a
meal with a couple of friends it would be alright to let loose, but if it is a very important meal with the president or a date's family proper table
manners are necessary. In New Zealand culture, people must be told where to sit before sitting down. Along with American table etiquette, elbows must

The Ageing Population
Ageing population is a worldwide pattern; it has major implications for the way in which programs designed to support older people are funded. While
social security and means–tested social assistance programs for long–term care protect the living standards of the poor, middle income groups face
under–appreciated risks, such as outliving their capital or needing expensive long–term care. This will cause economic, social, and political implications
of a rapidly ageing population, which will affect society and businesses.
New Zealand, like many countries, has ageing population, with an increasing proportion of people in the older age groups and a declining
proportion of children. Many impacts such as increase in the dependency ratio, increased government spending on health care and pensions, high
taxes, shortage of workers, changing sectors within the economy, and higher savings for pensions may reduce capital investment can effect all
societies. Since 1960, the proportion of the population under 15 years of age has declined from around 33% and is expected to fall to 18% by 2031.
(Statistics New Zealand, 2009) According to New Zealand Parliament (2011), age population is a consequence of the baby boom which occurred in
New Zealand. Compare with other countries' high fertility (the number of births per woman) and improved infant survival rate in the decades after the

Personal Narrative-Black As Gun Pow

  • 1. Personal Narrative-Black As Gun Pow Black as Gun Powder Nassau 1707, it's crisp the ocean breeze blows. The weather is sunny and the smell of salt elude in the air. Bells sound as other vessels make way into port. Come about and furl the sails. Seal the riggings and ho anchor. "Sir what are our orders?" Careen the ship. Make haste and leave the bottom and rutter spotless. "Aye sir" Oh and quarter master.. "Aye" I'm taking a little caulk at the St. Marie Inn "Dance the hempen jig immediately sir" "Captain Ross, it's been how long since you squirmed back in here?" Rose it's been a whole year. "Well you got back from Ireland pretty quick" Yeah I just wanted to visit Clem Bay. besides more importantly I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You're too innocent and adorable. "Yeah well I've been busy too, you know running the inn" Looks like you've been busy. I never complimented your inn. It's one of the finest places in Nassau. The inn smells like Honeysuckle and Jasmine. The rest of the damn place smells of piss and rum. "Why did you really come back ross? You had the chance to run" Come on who doesn't like the game.. Plunder, drinking, taking anything and everything. Besides I don't know where else to go. If I leave the life of piracy I'll have nothing else to do. "Have you ever thought about... I don't know starting a family" I haven't thought about it Ross looks up This is a letter from the king stating that Nassau is under the control of The Royal British army. Under Commodore Chamberlaine. All citizens of Nassau are expected to follow and obey the regulations set forth by royal decree. Fucking lobster backs. Coming in here and thinking they rule the place. • 3. Benefits Of Single Species Recovery Programmes World conservation is at a crossroads of judgement making and New Zealand provides an extreme example of issues and possible solutions. On the positive side, more than 30% of total land area in New Zealand has been set aside for as National Parks (DOC, n.d.) and various reserved land and is run by the Department of Conservation. Single species recovery programmes have been successful with the use of eradication of offshore islands pests to for reintroduction of threatened onshore species such as the Kakapo on Cod fish island. However, this is in marked contrast to biodiversity decline with up to 50% of native birds threatened due to introduced pests such as mustelids and possums. With legislation (Conservation Act 1987), public opinion and changes in current practices, conservation and development might be able to coexist to a point where each can be sustainable (Craig, 2000). Brief history of land conservation in New Zealand till 1969 New Zealand is a special place as it was the last major land form to be settled as it is separated by large oceans so was largely unknown. Before the first settlers arrived, the country had been isolated for some 85 million years with the result of different plant life, large and flightless birds as well as no ground living mammals ("Conservation – a history", n.d.). With the early Maori and European settlers bringing in mammals for sport and food, this had a devastating effect on the endemic wildlife population with up to 40% of species ... • 4. Business Evaluation Of The Business Idea Of Making An... Introduction This is the business evaluation of the business idea of making an application Smokeless. The purpose of the application is to reduce the number of smokers and maintain the health of the society. The business idea would help, motivate and encourage people to quit smoking. The Business Idea is having a great and positive scope in the present and also in the future because of the rising number of smart phone users. It would be extensively used by those who are willing and determined to quit smoking. If this idea of making an application is successful then it would be really good for all because smoking not only affects those who smoke but also those who do not i.e. Second Hand Smoke. Business Idea Smoking is biggest cause for deaths in New Zealand taking lives of 5000 citizens every year and about 350 people die because of what is called Second Hand Smoke(face the facts, n.d). The business idea is to develop an application named Smokeless which would be easily accessible on smart phones. The only reason to create an application is to make it more accessible. Smokeless is a high quality personalised service that includes daily phone calls, motivational messages, provided by qualified counsellors, calculator to calculate what amount can be saved if a person quits smoking and also hypnosis sessions. Hopefully the application would encourage people to stop smoking and reduce the number of smokers in New Zealand. Stakeholders Concerns The main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Personal Narrative: My Chronic Illness "But you don't look sick!"–– Wow, thanks, am I supposed to take that as a compliment: that my chronic illness hasn't yet affected my appearance? There is no real way to look like you have a chronic illness. Maybe when I'm in my back brace it's more noticeable, or when I'm forced into my various other braces and supportive wraps it's apparent that my body is in a constant war with itself. Newsflash: I am sick. I was sick when I was born, I am sick right now, and I will be sick when I die. I am, forever and always, sick. I have Sjogren's Syndrome and my body is tearing at and inflaming my connective tissues continuously. My body is a warzone where my white blood cells wage battle against my muscles. There is no cure and there is no one symptom;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I'm mid–conversation and I forget everything relative to what was happening, and someone says "Oh, yeah, I hate when i forget things!", I will become immediately annoyed. Brainfog cannot be sympathized with unless you've personally experienced it, and as it stands, that's not all that's not all it is. It's the numbness in my hands and feet that has to be surgically treated every ten years. It's my orthopedic surgeon looking at me and saying, "Remember my number: no doctor you have is going to want to treat you surgically because of your age and regardless of what your blood tests say, they won't believe that you have Sjogren's without another doctor saying so." And I guess that sums it up– that my future doctors will be looking at medical proof of my condition and not believe that it's real because I don't fit the general census. Because I'm a teenage girl, not a postmenopausal woman over the age of fifty, there is no possible way that I could know what I'm talking about and there is no way that I could have this chronic illness. Except I do. I have a chronic illness, and regardless of what I look like, I am sick. I will continue to be sick, and I'll continue to look like I'm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Ginny Blackmore Research Paper On the year March 1986 Ginny Blackmore was born in Auckland, New Zealand. At the age of 9, Ginny exactly describes on one her interviews that when she was watching Sister Act 2 in a movie theatre, Lauryn Hill's singing had her captivated. And so Lauryn Hill musically influenced her that she decided to become a singer. Blackmore grew up in a religious family and had little knowledge of secular music. She says 'It was the first time I heard hip–hop, R&B and soul.' She came out of the theater and said 'That's what I want to do. I chose music that day.' Since then she threw herself into music. But the beginning of Blackmore's career began when she left school at the age of 16. In the year 2001, Ginny spent a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She states 'I had to work from 9 to 5, five days a week. If there wasn't music coming out of the room for no longer than half an hour, my dad would knock on the door.' On another one of her interviews she explains how her journey began as a songwriter in NZ. When she was in New Zealand she made a demo and a mini album which didn't turn out good. But after earning enough money from music, she decided to travel overseas in LA. In 2004, at age 19, she moved to London and months after, she signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV. As she was pursuing a solo career, she had in mind to write songs for artists and Christina Aguilera happened to record one of her songs Sing For Me for her 2012 album LOTUS. She also talked about how she grew up listening to Christina Aguilera, prancing around the room singing to Genie In A Bottle idolising her voice and how it's a pleasure working with her. The land is filled with natural beauty and can be seen even in the big cities. New Zealand preserves the countryside because they know how important it is to be close to nature. The government is very forward thinking. New Zealand's economy is growing and business opportunities are everywhere. The growing free market has increased development in many sectors of business within New Zealand. History About 1000 years ago, Polynesian's were the first to inhabit New Zealand. They became the Maori people. Then in 1642 the European explorer, Abel Janszoon Tasman, sailed to the island. Unfortunately his arrival brought about violence and Abel Janszoon Tasman left to return home shortly after the violence erupted. In 1769 two European captains land in New Zealand thus bringing with them muskets that start a war between waring Maori tribes. In 1893 women were given the right to vote, in 1898 they started pensions, and in 1907 they founded a child welfare program. Since 1941 the country has had socialized medicine. • 8. Lorde's Writing Style With the alternative music scene mainly dominated by guitar–wielding male artists who bear similar sounds and tunes, it is beyond refreshing to hear the unique melodies and mysterious tones of Ella Yelich–O'Connor. The New Zealand native singer–songwriter, who is more recently known as Lorde has been compared to nineties alternative bands such as Mazzy Star and Portishead (Lipshutz, Jason). According to a Clash Music article, Lorde's songs do not rely on open letters, open legs, or twerking. Her moments of "sharp satire and sentimental brevity" are what's helping her stand out among her pop competitors like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift (Zadeh, Jason). Worried less about the emotional baggage of a prosperous music career, Lorde would rather... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lorde's first performance in the United States was a headline show at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City on August 6, 2013. The captivating tune intrigued radio listeners from around the world, becoming the first song by a female solo artist to steal the number one spot on Nielsen BDS–based Alternative Chart since Tracy Bonham's "Mother, Mother" in 1996, five months before Lorde was even born (Billboard Magazine). "Royals" went on to accomplish much more than just that. The single took home Best Song of 2013 by MTV News. The hit song was also nominated for four GRAMMY Awards in 2013, winning two: Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance (Grammy.com) Who would have guessed that the biggest breakout star of 2013 would be a disarmingly regular teenager and would set the mark for the longest lead female reign in a twenty–five–year history of the Billboard Alternative Music Chart (Trust, Gary)?Despite the release of Lorde's initial album in 2013, the singer–songwriter has been fairly busy since then creating an astonishing soundtrack for The Hunger Games movie in 2014. However, whichever one of you has the higher income, will have to pay more Income Tax to repay the portion of Child Benefit you're no longer entitled to." (Money Advice Service) Comparison All 3 countries, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom offer different variations of the same tax credit that helps families with children afford their needs. In comparison New Zealand, Australia has very similar requirements that make people eligible for this tax credit. Australia is the country with the least variations of family tax credit offered to caregivers. In New Zealand a parent can receive working for families' tax credit even while they are on parental leave. However, in Australia, FTB part is not available when caregiver is on paid parental leave but part A is still available. While Australia and New Zealand have a certain proportion of hours for which the care giver must look after the child, in UK the credit is available if the child generally live with the caregiver. This applies for both part A and B in Australia. All 3 countries have some sort of tax credit available for parents with new–born babies. • 10. The Anzac Legend : An Important Aspect Of Our Identity Essay The Anzac legend is an important aspect of our identity as a New Zealander. We have every reason to be proud of this historical event. In saying this, many New Zealanders died for us (as New Zealanders) and for our country, in order to give us a chance for a good life and be able to make a success of it. This essay will examine reasons of the Anzac legend and how it has been incorporated into the New Zealand identity. One aspect that this legend evaluates its place in our national identity is our pride. Our pride is shown immensely through the Anzac services that are both commemorated here in New Zealand as well as Gallipoli. We as New Zealanders are so proud that even though we did not succeed in the battle of Gallipoli, we made an effort to fight as brothers in arms until the very end. We acknowledge this proud moment in our history as that is how people recognise and identify us as New Zealanders. Another aspect that made our identity incorporated with the Anzac legend was our Ingenuity that we as New Zealanders were and are still well known for. The other point that makes our identity unique with the Anzac legend was the bonding with our fellow comrades, such as the Australians (as the corps was known as the Australian New Zealand Army Corps). New Zealand has had a long and positive relations with our neighbour Australia, especially during the time of the Gallipoli war. The bonding with the Australians was very important during this battle as they had to rely on each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of these groups have an individual culture and language system with many regional dialects among them, although segments of some of them transfer from one group to another through cultural sharing among mingling peoples, so there are some similarities among groups that historically descended from or interacted with one another. Or where I would be without her by my side through the 14 years of my life. She's always been with me through thick and thin. I appreciate everything she has done for me. Even if sometimes, it may not seem like it. Persuasive Essay About Refugees In today's world, and the past few years, there has been a high concern for immigration and the influx of refugees around the world and I would just like to ask how many of you like myself are fed up with the constant headlines of so called illegal immigrants and refugees that are supposedly rushing to enter our borders in the hope of a better life for their families? Meanwhile, we as people sit in front of our 20–inch TV screens with food on our tables laughing and complaining in our roofed houses about humans who are in search of a better life while fleeing war, poverty and potentially death with the aid of those deceptive criminals, the people smugglers, to make their way through continents on unseaworthy boats risking the horrid fate of drowning at sea. The issue of immigration and the incoming of refugees from third world countries to industrially developed countries is one of the biggest humanitarian crises today and it has raised security concerns to many citizens globally because they may fear that immigrants may take their jobs and homes. However, I do believe that the presence of immigrants and refugees are a positive contributor to the society and the economy of any developed country for instance jobs and skills gaps can be filled, the economic growth can be maintained, administrations to a maturing population can be managed when there are deficient youngsters locally, the pension gap can be filled by the contributions of new young migrant workers and failing ... Arend Lijphart's strategy of the consensus model is how majoritarian a government is. The consensus model aims to share out power so that it is not all down to the one governing party. The consensus model is very important when it comes to Scotland as it can be argued that is only effective for highly divided societies. • 30. The Chemical Compounds Of Sodium Fluoroacetate Sodium fluoroacetate, known more commonly as 1080, is a chemical compound that is used as a pesticide in New Zealand, to control the population of the common brushtail possum. It occurs naturally in several plant species as a defence mechanism against herbivorous organisms, but can also be produced synthetically. When being used to eliminatepossums, the poison is typically in the form of a small, green, marshmallow–esque pellet, called a 'bait'. These baits are then covered in a cinnamon scent, which serves to attract possums, whilst also discouraging other organisms from consuming the baits, and subsequently being poisoned. The baits are deposited into the intended areas via airdrops from helicopters, as this allows the baits to be placed in areas that are too difficult or dangerous for trappers to reach, and also ensures an even spread of the poison. 1080 works by disrupting the krebs cycle of the organism affected, a vital part of cellular respiration. It halts the cycle, which results in the accumulation of citrate in the bloodstream, depriving cells of energy. The organism will become lethargic, and in the case of possums, will typically die within a day of consumption of a lethal dose, from either respiratory difficulties, or cardiac arrest. This, however, assumes that a lethal dose is ingested by the organism in question. The poison has no known antidote. Men and women have been socially constructed to believe only men are capable of political representation. The problem lies within an institutional bias, where unnatural distinctions have been put in place from a young age. In New Zealand, the presence and contribution of women have been pivotal to the make up of contemporary party politics. Achieving parliamentary recognition and political representation peaked during the 1970s when the country was experiencing large changes in its economic and social environment. Through activism and pressure groups, women were able to seek recognition in New Zealand's political domain. The change to Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) eased the access of different political groups to parliament, improving the representation of minority groups such as women that have been under–represented in politics. Proportional representation offered new opportunities in terms of policy change through women's political participation. It has, however, been argued that the structure of proportional representation has been a hindrance toward a significant step forward for women's political participation. When used to screen for a specific genetic disease, it's main advantage is that it avoids selective pregnancy termination as the method makes it highly likely that the baby will be free of the disease under consideration. PGD thus aids assisted reproductive technology, and requires in vitro fertilization (IVF) to obtain embryos or oocytes for evaluation." While PGD has many benefits, especially for potential parents who may be at risk of passing on genetic defects, opposition to the use if this technology has come in many forms. Opposition ranges from the view which believes an embryo has full moral status from the moment of conception to the other end of the scale where people believe that the use of this technology will lead ... The Pros And Cons Of Microbeads Microbeads are tiny bits of plastic they are frequently used in all sorts of everyday care products such has face wash, toothpaste, and boconcerns dy washes such as scrubs. It can also be found in the food we consumed a lot of cleaning products we use have microbeads in them too. The world has a very large issue with plastic over use. Plastic is an item that nearly all products are made from, we use plastic everyday but is it actually healthy or good for the planet in the long run? Microbeads have come up many times on the New Zealand news over the past few months with people sharing their worries and about microbeads and advising that they should be banned from the country. Scientist are also suggesting that there are not many positives for microbeads and there are far too many very bad consequences for microbeads to be ignored. • 36. The Abolition Of The Monarchy Affect New Zealand 's... Word Count: 2036 words How would the abolition of the Monarchy affect New Zealand's constitutional structure? Abolishing the Monarchy in New Zealand would inherently call into question the issue of constitutional reform. New Zealand would need to consider having a written constitution. In this essay the focus will be on 'Independence and a Written Constitution' in relation to steps that may need to occur for New Zealand to become a Republic. I will reflect on the use of the word 'may' briefly as there are merits in remaining with an "unwritten Constitution" mainly in relation to the fluidity that has historically led New Zealand's gradual progression to Independence. New Zealand is a democracy and constitutional monarchy; the Head of State is the sovereign (Queen Elizabeth II) whom is the source of legal authority in New Zealand. In her role as Queen of New Zealand, Queen Elizabeth II acts through a representative appointed on the recommendation of the Prime Minister for a period of five years. The formal title is Governor–General and Commander in Chief of New Zealand . The office and powers of the Governor–General are set out in the Letters Patent, revised in 1983 and amended in 1987 and 2006 . The office of the Governor General "symbolises unity and stability," it is not dependent on the continuation of a government. The Letters Patent empower the Governor–General to constitute and appoint various officers, such as members of the Executive Council and diplomatic or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

NZ has a number of unique and defining characteristics to its constitution, the origins of these powers and their application have far reaching consequences for the people of New Zealand. This incremental change is vital to ensure the constitutional law is developing alongside the ever changing societal and political view. It also ensures democratic legitimacy as the power is placed in the hands of the democratically elected parliament, rather than the with the judicial discretion of the courts . This a key identifying feature that has far reaching practical consequences in New Zealand society. Despite the checks and balances on parliamentary power that the unwritten constitution itself provides. The concept of parliamentary sovereignty carries with it an inherent ability to abuse power. The AG v Ngati Apa decision is a prime example where a tyrannical government can in essence alienate the rights of minority citizen groups. The fundamental legal principles that underpin our unwritten constitution have led to some questioning as to the extension of these parliamentary powers, Cooke's judgement in Taylor v NZ Poultry Board being a prime indicator of this. The unwritten nature of New Zealand's constitution is a unique and defining characteristic of our constitution, its fundamental principles are weaved throughout parliaments application of its power. Another constitutional feature with heavy influence on parliamentary sovereignty is the concept of legally entrenched provisions. The concept of entrenched provisions hold value for its democratic stability, fundamental rights protection and its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Marketing Cost And Intruding New Products Introduction After studying the two options, I am in the favor of the second option that is of market penetration. As per Arkolakis, C, 2008, market penetration means focusing on the marketing cost and intruding new products. Fly Buys is large business with having almost 2.5 million of card holders and among these number, 1.3 million is of active households. It has been observed that in New Zealand, around 30,000 times the card is swiped in a single day. It is seen that the benefits of Fly Buys is more for the customers as comparing with the supermarket fuel discount schemes (Wright, K., & Baumann, C. 2007). Opportunity: As selected previously the Market penetration is good option for the company to have growth in the coming years. This strategy focuses on the marketing and sales to have deepen effect that before. Moreover, the people are preferring to buy with the swipe cards to get rewards. So, it is good to have more brands in the has exiting market rather completely as new program. Fly Buys already has a market and well known loyalty program. So it would be less investment tool for the company to adopt market penetration Challenges: There are some challenges that are faced while implementing the market penetration. Some of the limitations are described as, The profits after the investment to attract more customers doesn't work sometimes. The saturation point of the market that is the customers are satisfied. • 41. The Ageing Population Ageing population is a worldwide pattern; it has major implications for the way in which programs designed to support older people are funded. While social security and means–tested social assistance programs for long–term care protect the living standards of the poor, middle income groups face under–appreciated risks, such as outliving their capital or needing expensive long–term care. This will cause economic, social, and political implications of a rapidly ageing population, which will affect society and businesses. New Zealand, like many countries, has ageing population, with an increasing proportion of people in the older age groups and a declining proportion of children. Many impacts such as increase in the dependency ratio, increased government spending on health care and pensions, high taxes, shortage of workers, changing sectors within the economy, and higher savings for pensions may reduce capital investment can effect all societies. Since 1960, the proportion of the population under 15 years of age has declined from around 33% and is expected to fall to 18% by 2031. (Statistics New Zealand, 2009) According to New Zealand Parliament (2011), age population is a consequence of the baby boom which occurred in New Zealand.
