Question 3
1. What have you learnt from audience feedback?
The majority of my target audience are 60% females and 40% males according to my
audience feedback via surveymonkey.com. Mainly, a big part of my audience are
aged 15-18 are young adults with only few being 31-35 who are mature adults, which
depicts that the artist appeals to a wider broader audience. Hence why the song firs
more to a female audience as the song come from a female point of view and can
relate to it. There is some implied knowledge between the audience and artist.
Talking more about my target audience, as majority of them are young adults, they
wouldn’t have experienced professions in the work industry, but would be in some
sort of education e.g. A levels, University. Yet for the elder audience they are very
likely to fit in the social classes of B-C2 with skilled and managerial positions.
To ensure that my media products meet the standard the target audience are
expecting, I had to conduct audience feedback research that will benefit them at the
end of the day. The mentioned things such as slight changed in colour or changed of
a few shots would possibly feature in my music video. The audience feedback was
generated throughout the process of creating the products for example; when I
completed the first draft of my music video and the ancillary tasks, it was vital for me
to get feedback to ensure that I can meet the demands of the audience. However my
drafts for the ancillary tasks were incomplete which meant that I couldn’t get proper
feedback on it, however for the music video, when I posted it on YouTube I received
many positive feedback from my classmates. Therefore receiving feedback allows
the producers to ensure that the products meet the demands and is at the high
standards in which the audience will purchase the products.
With the feedback received, I received the opportunity to understand the audience in
what they would like to view within the video. I asked questions which was what they
would focus more on a music video and by using this information, I can also focus on
that certain element and make sure that I meet the demands of the audience. I
managed to use the feedback effectively as when I was editing the music video, I
continuously asked for feedback in which their views and the opinions can be heard
and then can be changed on the video.
One person said ‘Lois’ first draft could have some shots being altered as they are too
long and could shoot in some more locations’
Another media student said ‘There are some great outdoors shots used as well as
making use of the black box but some footage is quite shaky but she has got the
actor top use direct eye contact to communicate with the audience’.
