My Leadership Rubric : I Choose Diversity
For my leadership rubric, I choose diversity. Understanding the diversity of a group is essential to
creating a productive organization. Each person contributes a different history, culture, and set of
beliefs that shaped them into who they are now. These differences should be celebrated because
differences are what help organizations accomplish positive change.
The way I approach leading is heavily focused on how I treat my followers. This is why I prioritize
understanding how each member is unique. Understanding diversity is an essential concept to
consider when working with a group. After reflecting on the diversity rubric this is my evaluation on
how I currently perform. In addition, I had Garrett Medellin look at the diversity rubric and make
his own evaluation over how I lead through diversity. After consideration, I chose Garrett because
he has seen me in both in the mentee and mentor position. In his own leadership positions, he has an
insight to how I perform in both aspects. This puts him in the position to make a well–rounded

Angie Thomas' novel The Hate U Give is the story of a teenage girl facing racism in the world
around her. Starr Carter lives in Garden Heights, a neighborhood filled with gangs, when one of her
best friends Khalil is shot by the police, she is quick to know he had been killed because of the
racism that exists in our world. Throughout the novel, Starr is constantly trying to show the world
why Khalil died in order to get justice for his death. She does not believe he deserved to die or the
cop who shot Khalil deserves to walk free of the crime he committed. Through different characters,
the author is able to convey the message of one should not form opinions on someone or something
based on stereotypes. Throughout the novel, some characters struggle with judging people before
they know their past. Angie Thomas is able to get this across to readers not only through Starr, but
also characters such as her father Maverick, her friends from school, and even Officer Cruise, the
officer who killed Khalil.
Stereotypes in the novel are one of the main causes for Khalil's death. The officer had killed Khalil

Returning to the three original polls, these measures of public opinion are useful. Throughout the
year, we have discussed how campaigns are affected by public opinion, especially because the
debates had just begun. Right now, while candidates are trying to win their respective party
nominations, they are going to try to appeal to the opinions of Republicans and Democrats
separately. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are not trying to appeal to the same base as Donald
Trump and Jeb Bush. These polls are meaningful and candidates should be mindful of them, because

The Importance Of Education
Society has always been built up of set regulations that define individuals and their actions in what
is acceptable and what is not. Today there is various components that are set to be socially
acceptable but in reality they aren't. Education, the press, religion and individuality are not truly
regulated to fit everyone and Mill was right to simplify the problem to be the people. Society needs
to review what is wrong with the idea of a good citizen and what it is based on and should change
the factors expressing it in order to favor everyone because otherwise we are preventing future

Education in our country is not adjusted to favor everyone, there is a limit to public education and
how far one can afford it. Public education helps students until they graduate high school but then
affordability reaches a boundary making it harder for everyone to have the same opportunities. Mill

financial status and that is wrong in the sense that everyone should be educated without being
categorized by how much money they have. Someone who grows up in a poor family will be

Golding and Rousseau brought two different ideas using Lord of the Flies. They make you really
think on what they are trying to prove. You can agree with either of them but people have their own
opinions. Golding and Rousseau disagreed with each other's opinions on how human nature
becomes evil. If I had to choose whose opinion I agree with, then I would choose
Rousseau's.
Rousseau's beliefs regarding human nature were that people are not born evil. He believes that

There are ways to identify if something is an opinion or a fact. Opinions have different qualities than
facts. Opinions are personal and judgments. They can not be proven and opinions are based on
someone's knowledge, beliefs,views or experiences. They are sometimes written in a first person's
point of view and may differ between people and groups of people. Many opinions include words
like: are all the same, is the best, shouldn't, is more fun than or everybody /everyone. With these
patterns of words and qualities we can state something is a opinion and not a fact

I look to a few different people. This is because when I find myself in trouble it's easier to get
several different options and opinions on the situation. Why i do this is because I have advice and
different approaches to the situation. So when I find myself looking for advice i rely on a handful of
different people. So there are two main people that i look to for advice and there opinion is always
valued. The first person is my boyfriend. His name is Allen. His opinion and advice may not alway
be something I want to hear but it always makes sense eventually. Allen is someone who helps calm
down and think in a rational state of mind instead of a emotional state of mind. The second main
person that knows every situation I have ever been through is my mother. She is someone I have
always relied on and turn too. She has always been there for me and my children even though we
have lived 12 hours away from each other for many years now. She is the type of person who
answers the phone at any hour of the day or night. She has always told me that she would rather a
awful truth then an ugly lie. So since she has always stated this she has instilled that no matter what
is going on she will not judge. Learning this at a young age has made talking with her about
