another book. This book was barely published, but it persuaded Zelda to marry him. So on the third of April of 1920 in St. Patrick's Cathedral New

The Genius of Fitzgerald In order to spot a literary genius, it is necessary for one to first define the word literary genius. What makes a literary
genius? Though a broad term that can be applied to many situations, a literary genius can best be described as an author who has a timeless impact on
literature with themes that resonate with every kind of person. F. Scott Fitzgerald, along with several others, is the epitome of a literary genius.
Fitzgerald's works like This Side of Paradise and Tender is the Night are both great stories and, in a deeper and more analytical context, works that
reflect the reality of the world. The world isn't in the most ideal state, and Fitzgerald knows that. From describing the lonesome life of wealth and
riches to examining how people feel about romance, Fitzgerald's works will always be applicable to life.
In This Side of Paradise, the main character, Amory Blaine, is essentially on a quest to find values that suit him. Throughout every aspect of life,

During the roaring twenties, the United States was a blemished nation. Crime and corruption were at an all–time high, the bootlegging business was
booming, and throughout all this, people were euphoric. This time period during the nineteenth and twentieth century was captured by numerous
artists, writers, musicians, and entertainers in their attempts to break from traditional values in what is known as modernism. A modernist is in
simple terms a rebel. One who dislikes normal conventions and hopes to rewrite and renew societal morals. These artists were rebels with a cause and
fought to expose themselves to society. Fitzgerald is an iconic figure in modernism because he skews the perception of reality, rejects the stereotypical

Sometimes the very thing someone may be reaching for is not what it seems. The American Dream is something that can be known as what it is for
most people; a dream. In Scott F. Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby, the main character, Jay Gatsby, throws huge parties in West Egg, New York,
that many people from all over come to, in order to find his goal and to achieve his dream. Fitzgerald portrays Gatsby's parties as a symbol of the
corruption of the American Dream; the immoral actions, shallowness of the party guests, and impossibility of his motives reveal the flaws of the

When Gatsby finally meets Daisy after all of the lost years, he feels he no longer needs the illusions of the parties to bring her in, so he can finally
embrace his view on reality. Fitzgerald uses the parties as a symbol of the moral debase of the 1920's, especially about the immoral actions of the

This displays that the Nick, the seemingly neutral storyteller is now more tolerant towards Gatsby, compared to the others. This creates an issue
for the readers because it means that Nick is not telling the story the way it really is, and speaking in favour of Gatsby. This is an example of how
the readers do not truly know who Nick Caraway is and uncover more information about his personality towards the end of the novel. It proves that
Nick's character is extremely vital because his opinions shape how the story will unfold, and that his opinions affect how the story will be told.
Nicks judgments begin to show in a negative way towards Jordan, and his drinking habits begin to show considering him as inconsiderate. Clearly
Nick does not have the intentions of getting into a serious relationship or get married with Jordan yet he still spends his time with her. It is quite
careless of him to spend his time with a woman whom he does not want to be with, especially if he is not truly fond of her. He calls her a "... rotten

The mastermind behind one of America 's greatest and most revolutionary pieces of literature had a humble beginning. He was born on September
24, 1896 to Mary and Edward Fitzgerald of St. Paul Minnesota. As a child, the family moved back and forth between Buffalo and Syracuse New
York, they were dependent on his fathers minimum wage jobs. Scott's first piece of writing, a detective story, was printed in the school newspaper at
age thirteen. After he graduated from highschool he choose to attend Princeton University for his higher education. However, during World War Two,
to serve his country and prove his patriotism he dropped out and joined the United States Army.
Fitzgerald became fearful that he would perish during the war and hastily composed a short story. The Romantic Egotist however, was not a
success but the publisher encouraged him to continue to write more. During training for the army, Fitzgerald met Zelda Sayre. He fell in love
with her, however she was descended from an upper class family and would not accept a mere poor man's love. World War Two was ended before he
was deployed and Fitzgerald moved to New York to launch an impressive advertising career in order to entice Zelda to marry him. He soon abandoned

In the novel Gatsby gives off this kind of non–alcoholic attitude by staying sober at his parties (Fitzgerald 52). The reason he acts this way was
because when Gatsby was younger he would take care of an alcoholic. This made the young Jay Gatsby reflect on the negative effects of alcohol.
Fitzgerald' views on alcohol were completely different then Gatsby's. Fitzgerald was a heavy alcohol consumer for most of his life. He began
