2. Purpose
• The purpose of the product is to try and get users to interact with
other people from around the world. This is to improve
communication and help people stay connected when they are
unable to see them in person. It’s main function is to send photos and
allow people to react to them. It will contain content that is similar to
Instagram as it mainly is about sharing photos of your life and being
able to update everyone on what you have been doing lately. It will
also contain other platforms so you are able to watch videos as well
and not just be able to view photos as it is a way of getting people
more involved with eachother.
3. Colour scheme
• The colour scheme I will be using for the social media platform will be
purple black and white. This is because these are bold colours and will
help make the platform look less cluttered and more friendly looking
when newcomers join it. The purple will also help to make the platform
look more appealing as well as more welcoming instead of it looking a
bit dodgy and potentially deter people from going any further into the
social media platform.
4. Font style
• The font for the social media platform is separated into 2 font types.
The font for the title of the social media platform is in ‘Brush script
STD’. This is because the font gives the title a more free flowing style
which is what I would like my social media to be like as its about
freedom of speech and being able to express yourselves through
images. The font for the main writing is in ‘DIN Alternate’. This font
helps to make the writing look clear and easy to read without it
looking too boring and basic where some fonts are like that.
5. Target audience
• The target audience for my social media website is aimed at those
between 13-60. this is due to the fact that it will contain content that
will appeal to them around that age range. The reason the age range
isn’t lower is because it may contain contain not appropriate for them
such as advertisement that would appeal for older ages. The reason
its not aimed at those aged older then 60 is because it may not
appeal to them and may not understand how to use it very well
therefor it would not benefit us if it contained content that would
appeal for those ages.

9. Comparison images
These are my sign up page and home page comparison between the graphic design and the hand drawn drafts.
As you can see they are very similar with the same layout and the same details. It is quite similar to Instagram
however the colour scheme will be slightly different and the logo as well will be different.
10. My terms and conditions
• Due to my social media platform being very similar to Instagram it contains
similar terms and conditions to it. This is because they both cover the same
topics and are very similar to how they present their content.
• By accessing or using the Pic-a-holic website, the Pic-a-holic service, or any
applications (including mobile applications) made available by Pic-a-holic
(together, the "Service"), however accessed, you agree to be bound by
these terms of use ("Terms of Use"). The Service is owned or controlled by
Instagram, LLC ("Pic-a-holic"). These Terms of Use affect your legal rights
and obligations. If you do not agree to be bound by all of these Terms of
Use, do not access or use the Service.
• These are my terms and condition to using the social media platform I have
created. This means that no one is able to take any action in saying they
own it and can be prosecuted if anything were to happen to the company
name.
11. Production plan
This is the
production plan
for the creation
of the website.
It will take a lot
of time doing
the days
however it will
all pay of with a
successful social
media website.
12. Production plan continued
• The launch date for the website will be on April 12th due to the fact
that it is during the Easter holiday. Therefore people will not have to
wait for the whole day in order to access the social media service. The
reason I have also made it accessible to people a few hours after the
people who want to try it out before is because it will help us to
identify if there are any bugs and then be able to address them before
it goes live to everyone which in turn allow a more positive feedback
from the public.
13. Production plan continued
• When starting up a business you need to know how much you will
need to pay your production crew. These are the main jobs that will
be involved in the creation of the website as well as the tools they will
need for planning and creation of it.
14. Revenue streams
• The main source of revenue will come from advertising on the social media website. Research shows that
advertising costs are as follows:
• Higher priced adverts could be gained from the home page and logout screen because they’re viewed more
frequently by users.
• The length of time the advert runs would also boost revenue.
• Sponsorship would also be a revenue stream e.g. Facebook charge on average $5.17 CPM although this
could rise to $12 therefore I would have to make it sure that the advertisement on the website is
competitive and people will want to sponsor my site.
• CPM is a marketing calculation that takes the total cost and divides by the number of impressions it will
make.
• CPI is the cost per interaction and is used to see how effective their marketing can be and is often used to
drive costs down.
• I will need to consider these methods to help me get the highest possible income from my product.

15. Legal and ethical
• Copyright- is when there is a legal right which lasts for a few years so you can’t print,
publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic or musical material that already
exists. This means that if I take images from anyone without their permission I could
get prosecuted for plagiarism. This can also be used for my own benefit as it is a
system that protects me from having my own images used for another format without
my permission allowing me to prosecute them and get money from it.
• Bullying and stalking- a way I can prevent bullying and stalking is through the help
feature. This will allow people to report those who are bullying them by having them
put down the username of the person who has been bullying and write down a
simple message on how they are doing it over the social media website. For stalking
there will be a way to record how much time someone has been viewing your profile
and if it exceeds more then a certain amount of time, the person stalking will be
unable to view the profile and the person would be notified of the person stalking.
16. Legal and ethical continued
• Privacy policy- it is a statement or a legal document that discloses some or all of
the ways a party gathers, uses, discloses, and manages a customer or client's
data. I would be implementing this into my own website as as a company we will
have to make sure that no information of the users are able to be accessed from
an outside source that in turn can cause harm to the user.
• WaSP research- I will also have the Web Standards Project involved in my social
media. This allows the creation of the website to be less difficult by reducing how
complex it is which in turn will help reduce the cost for the development of it.
• User trust- in establishing user trust I will inform how well protected their details
are. This is done through by only allowing certain admins and the head of the
company but only if it is necessary
17. Royalties
• Royalties are often expressed as a percentage of the revenues
obtained using the owner's property, but they can be negotiated to
meet the specific needs of an arrangement. The use of royalties is
common in situations where an inventor or original owner chooses to
sell his product to a third party in exchange for royalties from the
future revenues it may generate.
18. Regulatory Issues
IP/Watermark
Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary
and artistic works, designs, and symbols, names and images used in commerce. IP is
protected in law by, for example, patents, copyright and trademarks, which enable
people to earn recognition or financial benefit from what they invent or create.
As well as IP on printed work, you can get a digital watermark which protects any
copyrighted content from any magazine online and in any digital format. It is important
to have this because it means people will have to pay you to use your information/
ideas. The best way to protect your IP is to acquire a patent. However, this can take
several years to get and costs over $7000 in fees.
19. Conclusion
To conclude, I know what my website will look like and be like
and who it is aimed at. I have also created a production plan
that would help me keep on target and not go over schedule
when creating it. It also contains how much it will cost to hire
people and the tools required to create and plan the website. I
will need to make sure that all the workers are following the
scheduled deadlines that are present on the production plan
otherwise it would not be released on time and can
potentially cost a lot of money when it does.
