The document summarizes the creation of a 4-5 minute conspiracy theory video edited using Adobe Premier Pro. The editor chose to use a montage style which is fast-paced to get their point across quickly. Footage was sourced from YouTube and cut before adding to the timeline to enable refining cuts. The most difficult part was creating pace without enough coverage, and the editor would source more footage for future edits.

Conspiracy Theory Edit
I have been working on an edit using Adobe Premier Pro to produce a short, 4/5 minute, video
illustrating a convincing conspiracy theory.
I cut the video in the style of a montage which I studied in lecture the previous week as this
style of edit is fast paced and allows the filmmaker to put a point across to their audience in a
condensed timeframe. The fast pace of a montage edit also grips the audiences’ attention,
focusing them on the images which are being shown to them
Adobe Premier Pro was chosen to create this edit as I feel most comfortable utilising this
software as I continue to build my skills as an editor. Although Avid is a more advanced
software that is more highly credited within the film industry, I feel that more practise with the
software would be required before I feel completely comfortable with creating a video with it.
The footage utilised to create the edit was taken from secondary sources such as YouTube
therefore it had to be cut before being added to the timeline during the rough edit stage of
producing the video. This then enabled me to manipulate the video more successfully in later
drafts of the edit as the footage that I was working with had already been isolated to specific
points so that I could then focus on refining the cuts to edit it in pace with the musical score.
The part that I found the most difficult about editing this video was creating pace and timing
with footage that had been sourced as I often did not have the coverage that I needed to create
the desired pace. If I were to create another edit in this way I would spend more time sourcing
footage to provide myself with more coverage in order to create a more interesting pace
throughout my edit. I would also refine the final cut more in order to shorten some of the
frames to give the edit a more snappy pace as this would grip the attention of the audience for
the duration of the edit.
