Transporter 3- BMX scene
The BMX chase sequence in the film Transporter 3 begins at a relatively slow pace and
quickly builds with the tension and action of the chase sequence on screen. The building
pace of the edit reflects the building tension and pressure that the character is feeling in the
film. The quick, short cuts between the man on the bike and the woman in the car signifies
their connection to each other and the man’s desire and urgency to catch up to her.
Another interesting editing technique utilised in the clip occurs at the beginning whilst the
two men are speaking over the phone. The audio used does not cross over as it would
normally do in a shot reverse-shot edit. Instead, the audio cuts after each character has
finished speaking rather than at the end to reveal each reaction. The distance between the
two men is therefore depicted through the edit by cutting the audio and footage in this way.
