3. Arcades (Do you know what
an arcade is?)
It was the golden era of video games.
Arcades were created in 1971 and
they used to be machines with
buttons and levers, with which you
could play a game. Some of them
had more for two players. But in 1980
game producers created better
graphics and developed better
games, so people didn't like arcades
anymore. Unless the Japanese who
actually still have arcade games on
sale.
4. How consoles used to be
In 1980 there was a new idea: designing home
consoles. That idea got very good results and it
meant that there were going to be more
producers. One of them was Nintendo, a
Japanese company that put on sale a new
console called NES. Some years later Nintendo
made the most important advance in video
games: they fabricated portable consoles called
Gameboys. Then they made another advance:
they designed a videogame with color, and to
use it they created a new Gameboy: Gameboy
Advanced.
5. Coloured consoles
In 1990 coloured videogames set a trend. At
those times the company Sony put on sale its
console Playstation meanwhile Nintendo
continued with the portable consoles putting on
sale Nintendo 64, commonly called DS lite.
Some years later, in 2002, Playstation released
Playstation 2 and 3 meanwhile Nintendo
launched more Ds and its new console Wii. In
this year Microsoft made their debut as a
console company with their console called
XBox. That was a really great year.
6. Future consoles
In our era there are some consoles that there are
being produced by some important companies
like Nintendo and Playstation. Some of these are
very confusing or incredibles. For example, the
first console that can be played like a portable
console or like a normal console is being created
by Nintendo and it is called Nintendo Switch.
Meanwhile Playstation has already sold its latest
console: The Playstation 4.
