Cleaver Family Sociology
To begin with, a main point that has changed has to be social customs. For instance, in Leave it to
Beaver, during the episode named "Beaver wont Eat," the Cleaver family was struggling in getting
their youngest son to eat his vegetables. To discuss this, the mother and father stepped out of the
room and entered the kitchen to solve the problem. They argued to find a solution and also were
peeking on Beaver through the door to see his progress with his brussel sprouts. This shows that the
parents do not want to fight in front of their children. The parents privately exit the room when there
is a dilemma. This is because most likely don't want to show that their mother and father are arguing
since they want to be that perfect nuclear family.

Brussel Sprouts: A Short Story
Brussel sprouts. Tomatoes. Carrots. Spinach. Mushrooms. These are all common
foods that make kids' taste buds scream out of disgust. Unless you're a person who loves every
food, but that's not the point. For the kids that are picky eaters... Some kids would throw a
tantrum. Others would refuse to eat. The rest, however, would eventually just eat them. My
parents know very well that you couldn't afford to be picky 'back in the old days.' Haven't all
kids rolled their eyes at that phrase?
I was a very, very, very picky eater throughout my childhood. If there was a dish I didn't
like, my mom would give me some roasted seaweed to roll up my rice to make plain sushi (as I
like to call it), and there goes another meal for another day.

wasn't rich, but thankfully, the government provided a small portion of rice to each member, but
only 2 eggs for the whole family–and that was all they got for the entire dinner. 2 eggs. I can
eat 2 eggs by myself. Considering how easy and cheap it is to go to the store here and purchase
eggs in dozens is absolutely ridiculous.
After comparing my own dad's story to mine, I don't want to forget the hard work and
labor that goes into producing the food even though there is more of it now. Now that I think
about it... Even my mom spends 30 minutes to an hour cooking every day. After learning how
to cook a few dishes myself, I came to realize all the hard work my parents go through to earn
money and provide for me, my brothers, and themselves. My parents have the right to not be
content with me for not wanting to eat that pumpkin dish that day. Almost everything I touch,
someone, somewhere, had made it possible to this point. I should definitely be more
appreciative. The next time dinner includes an unpleasant taste, I'll just shove the food in my
mouth, chew it, drink some water to wash out the flavor, and then, there goes another meal

Wrought Iron Fencing Beauty
The Astonishing Beauty in Wrought Iron Fencing Realized Very few people in Ottawa do not enjoy
the ornate designs that wrought iron can accomplish. Whether it is for security window covers or
mixed with concrete of brick columns for fencing, wrought iron brings a certain level of beauty with
it adding its everlasting effect on the landscape. Add to the iron fencing an iron gate with any one of
the many patterns that can evolve from the imagination and you have a complete picture of character
and strength that only wrought iron fencing brings. We see wrought iron utilized in many different
fashions, yet when utilized as fencing there is no other material that can surpass the astonishing

Kale For Kids
One of the most important things we can do as parents is to make sure our kids are eating the right
foods. Unfortunately, not all healthy foods taste great to children. Just think back to your own

one such food. It is nutritious and offers plenty of things our kids need, but may not always be
something they actually want to eat. But, incorporating kale into your kids' diet is simple with a few
simple tricks.

Beatrice And Character Foil In Much Ado About Nothing
What's better than ice cream? Its creamy, sweet, and melts on your tongue. Brussel sprouts on the
other hand are bitter and unappealing. When compared to brussel sprouts, ice cream tastes a whole
lot better. These two foods foil, or contrast, each other and highlight their own characteristics. In
Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, Beatrice and Hero foil each other. Unlike many character
foils where one character is clearly villanos and the other heroic, Beatrice and Hero's moralities
aren't opposite, but rather their personalities. Where Hero is polite, quiet, innocent, and passive,
Beatrice is independent, witty, outspoken, and cynical. These differences in their personalities help
highlight their traits and make the play more enjoyable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Beatrice speaks out against Benedick, Leonato and Antonio(Leonato's brother) they say "By
being too curst, God will send you no horns"(Shakespeare 2.1.25–24). However, Beatrice's views on
love are cynical, and she doesn't want to be burdened with marriage(Shakespeare 2.1.57–64).
Beatrice is very independent. If she were to marry, she would have to take on the typical domestic
women role while her husband rules over her. On the other hand, Hero doesn't share these views on
marriage. Hero finds Claudio attractive, and when she learns he intends to marry her, she is fine
with it. Hero also strives to please her father. This dynamic marriage between her and the reputable
Claudio would enhance the family name, so it's a win for her father and for her. This is based solely
on the fact that he is attractive since she doesn't really know him. Beatrice on the other hand
encourages Hero to say "Father as it pleases me"(Shakespeare 2.1.53–56) and make some decisions
for herself. It is interesting to note that Hero says her heart is "exceedingly heavy" (Shakespeare
3.4.24–25) before the wedding, alluding to the fact that she is not entirely happy with this sudden
marriage. However, this can also be interpreted as pre–wedding

Short Story : ' Eureka, Breakfast ! '
"Eureka, breakfast!"
I was sitting at my desk, writing down my recent nightmare in my newly brought diary. My third
this year. I was hoping that as I grew up and learnt more about the real world, my dreams would
become nothing more than innocent little fantasies about butterfly's and unicorns. Except ever since
that first dream, 14 years ago, they had gotten worse. Not that watching your own dad die wasn't
bad, considering I think I'm the one that killed him, but they got more detailed. Less vivid and more
real everything was a lot clearer, I could feel, see and smell everything around me. It was so bad
sometimes I thought I'd never wake up.
"Be there in a second mum!" I called back. I really needed to shake off this dream. I could still hear
the screams of people at the young village as their homes were torched; their families were herded
like sheep and then lined up for their inevitable execution. Even the scent of burnt wood and straw
still dared to linger in her nostrils. Tucking her journal back on her bookshelf between her copy of
the bible and her Ouija board, two conflicting spiritual beliefs, but as long as the dreams occurred
she needed all of the help she could get. I walked down stairs and into their bite sized kitchen. She
found her mother saying whilst cooking, what looked like pancakes, but mum being mum, it was
properly something entirely different. She was swaying her hips, her long light, dyed brown hair
flying wildly about her.

nothing more than to make people question what is behind a layer of painting and question each
individual design for what it is and seek what cannot be seen. Painter's typically use colors to not
only detail a painting, but express emotions through the gentle strokes of color. For example, bold
colors often highlight what portions of the painting are meant to be the most significant to the
viewer. In The Lovers II and The Lovers I each background in filled with light hues of blue, green,

provides varying arrays of color. In the art world, there is a wide spectrum of colors with an even
larger spectrum of meaning. Blue for instance is a cool color commonly associated with the sky, sea,
and bedroom. The color depicts a lack of stress and tranquility. Red on the other hand is seen as a
hot color. Associated with both love and war, red can have varying meanings from cupid's love to
the Devil's havoc. Both of these colors are represented in the background of The Lover's II and

Feedback Essay : ' Portfolio '
Feedback essay: 'Portfolio 1': Overall criticisms: In examining my feedback, the first main concern
identified was in reference to structure. The marker refers to my 'input' being "all over the place",
suggesting a lack of organisation and comprehensive structure to my argumentation which is also
insinuated by the recommendation to 'label' points more explicitly. Consequently, it became difficult
to develop a compelling argument, neglecting my discussion to a series of statements with little
elaboration alongside those points. Moreover, by suggesting to 'label' to allow the flow of the
argument , I believe the marker is suggesting the use of signposting and seemingly highlights a
substantial omission – the lack of development in my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would ensure my contentions remain cohesive throughout, as opposed to being added into my
summarizing thoughts unaccompanied. Consequently, I could use quotations from the text to
provide some context, whilst then permitting me to elaborate an argument from that quotation. My
argument would then be fully integrated into the essay, and could accordingly be expanded upon
further. Leading on from this change, this would likewise make it easier to rectify my second
sizeable error and expand upon my counter–points, as opposed to simply offering rebuttals which
are not wholly explained. I would instead then be able to emphasise the evaluation section as
opposed to my overly conflated outline section. By sub–dividing my work into paragraphs, I should
be able to isolate select argumentation points much more unambiguously without, as the marker
describes, "getting somewhat lost." This should prevent my work from appearing as "one lump of
text" and make it clearer to read, allowing my thoughts to be expressed clearly. Lastly, I shall
attempt to be additionally explicit in my counter–points and pinpoint specifically why the point is
pertinent to the discussion, making a conscious effort to avoid making the false supposition that the
purpose to the assertion can be simply inferred– for example, stating why a democratic deficit is an
issue for the EU. Strengths: Despite these criticisms, the marker and I seemed to agree that my

Such vegetables are known for their anti–cancer properties due to the fact that they possess a natural
chemical substance called Glucosinolates. This substance has been shown in scientific research
studies to reduce the risks of various types of cancer such as breast, prostate, and lung cancer. This
vegetable is abundant in various vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C, Vitamin K, protein,

When Memories And Events Become Institutionalized In A
When memories and events become institutionalized in a museum setting, they become the lens
through which present and future generations gaze into past. National museums promote local
history and identity, but what about multinational museums and multinational identity? This is the
question the European Union hopes to address with their sanctioning of the House of European
History (HEH). The main goal of the HEH is to create a collection of permanent and temporary
exhibitions to invite people into a space where "the concept of the European idea can continue to
grow" and "the knowledge and dissemination of the culture and history of the European peoples"
can be improved (Committee of Experts, 2008, p.5). However, because the HEH is funded ... Show

The conceptual basis is divided into four parts with 116 points in total: forward, conceptual and
museological basis, central topics of the permanent exhibition, and outlook. In the very first point, it
is outlined that the museum should be a "place where a memory of European history and the work
of European unification is jointly cultivated" (Committee of Experts, 2008, p.3). Some of the main
themes that the museum is supposed to represent include the diversity of history and a commonality
of roots, peace, liberty, and a willingness to live together, as well as the idea of progress and keeping
the idea of Europe alive. In the second section, it talks about the academic goals of the museum and
the way it should be set up in order to be accessible to a variety of people, such as free admission
and explanatory texts in multiple languages (twenty–four to be precise) (Committee of Experts,
2008). The HEH is meant to be an independent institution that provides education to the young
people of Europe in order for them to become active citizens in shaping the EU's future. Points 27–
112 explain the central topics of the exhibitions that will be in the museum, but do not go into detail
regarding the artifacts and objects they will represent these topics with. After this initial Conceptual
Basis, another draft was written in 2013 with a small amount of changes. Although the museum was
first set to open in 2015, it was then pushed to 2016. The current expected

Personal Narrative: The Word Weird
The word 'weird' to me is how people talk about one another or certain objects as strange or not
fitting the mold that they think or believe to normal. I chose this word because I believe being
known as being weird is a somewhat mean way to say that someone is different from someone else.
There are times where I think the word 'weird' is a completely accurate description of me, but then
there are times it's not even close to describing me. The people who call me 'weird' use it as an insult
and try to put me down. These people forget that being 'normal' is not exactly a good thing either.
The word 'weird' has had a big impact on me in both a positive and negative way. It is positive
because it is saying that I am different from everyone else. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

have always told me not to follow the crowd, but to make my own way in the world. Just because
others considered me weird, I should not let them dictate what make me happy. I eat the "weird"

Company Analysis : Rivella Ag Essay
Rivella AG is a Swiss company founded by Dr Robert Bath along the Lake Zürich in 1951. The idea
of Barth was to create a healthy and natural beverage made from milk serum. The name "Rivella"
comes from the Italian word "rivelazione", wich mean revelation. Only six years after the creation of
Rivella, the Swiss pioneer creates "Rivella Blue" the Europe's first low–calorie beverage. Dr Robert
focused on the twin themes Switzerland and Health for the identity of his brand .The company is
sponsoring a lot of sports events in Switzerland. (Rivella AG, 2014).
Nowadays, the owners of the company are still from the Robert Bath's family. Although it is the
second Swiss soft drink producer with 9 litters per capita per year in Switzerland and with a growing
net sales earning of 139.8 millions CHF in 2013, Erland Brüger, CEO of the Rivella's group, sees
the company as a medium family enterprise (Uniéco, 2014). More than 75 % of Rivella's sales are
made in its domestic market but the foreign markets increased a lot this two past years (+8.8% in
2012 and +6,7% in 2013) (Rivella AG, 2014).
Despite the fact that Rivella has a strong Swiss identity, it was already an international company at
the early stage of its growth. "Rivella Blue" has been sold in Netherland since 1957 and Netherland
is still the biggest foreign market of the company. The entry of Rivella on the Dutch market was

"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." (Psalm 34:8 NIV)
It's funny the things that imprint on our brain, as opposed to the things that don't. You would think
that the important stuff would stick in our heads and the unimportant stuff would not. Yet it seems to
be the exact opposite. For instance I can't remember a single thing, not a single thing from my High

Regardless I do I know I remember very little to nothing from High School geometry ( are you

feet were triangles of cheese, the tail was made up of sausage links, you get the idea. Emblazoned

You are what you eat. Of course it was a meant to be a reminder to eat healthy. If you eat healthy,
you will be healthy. Which probably make sense too an adult. But a five year old sees that poster in

Grandpa Greene's Whitewashed Bungalow
Three weeks after we had settled into Grandpa Greene's whitewashed bungalow mom and I were
sitting at the dinner table, next to two empty chairs when the telephone rang in the middle of franks,

opportunity to heap some macaroni and cheese on top of the lopsided pile of Brussels sprouts. I was
smiling to myself at the clever way I'd camouflaged the sprouts when mom let the phone fall with a
clattering clang and a single sob–absolutely devastated. She sank to the floor, still dressed in her

where she treated sick kids. Her long auburn hair was pulled up into a messy twist, with strands

the Pixie Dust Medical Center, broken and sleeping." She sobbed again. "He may never wake up."
Dad came home an hour later and consoled Mom. "Don't fret, dear," Those doctors know what's
best. They'll fix your poppa up good as new in no time." His tone was smooth and reassuring. But as
the light of moon lit his face, I could see the worry etched deep into the wrinkles beside his mouth
and eyes. At first, we visited grandpa everyday then time traipsed on as it always does and fall with

The Trade Dispute And The European Union Industry
This trade dispute initially began on July 25th, 2012 when EU Pro Sun, a joint initiative of members
of the EU solar industry, filled a complaint to the European Commission that solar panels and
various components where being sold in the European marketplace at a value lower than market
value. It was the biggest anti–dumping complaint to the European Union in history with the total
value of currently imported solar panels was around 2 billion euros. The European Commission is

Early in 2012, Europe's economy was shrinking and the euro zone's economy had shrunk by .3
percent in 2011's fourth quarter. Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain, and Cyprus all had defaulted on
their debts and were unable to refinance them. The European Union had to consider what would
provide the greatest benefit to all members of the Union, and how implementing anti–dumping and
anti–subsidy laws would make it even more expensive for solar panels in the European Union.
Secondly, China currently accounted for around 65% of the world production of solar panels. Due to
this it gave them competitive advantage and the benefit of economies of scale. Due to the ability to
sell Chinese solar panels at a lower cost in the European Union it caused around 40 EU producers to
declare insolvency, 6 EU producers to stop production (some partially), and 2 EU producers to quit
solar business between 2009 and 2012 (Memo/13/497). If something was not to quickly be done
about the dumping of Chinese solar panels thousands of jobs would be lost within the European
Union and EU producers of solar panels market share would drastically drop, considering it was
already at a minimal 19% Union market share. Thirdly, the European Union had to consider overall
relations with the Chinese regarding trade in general. An aggressive retaliation by the European
Commission in regards to the dumping could burn trade

Magritte was a surrealist artist and he was known for his witty and thought–provoking images, and
for painting objects in unusual context, and the challenging the perception reality. His Surrealism
inspired and influenced pop culture, minimalist and conceptual art.
Hardly enough is known about Magritte's early life. March 12, 1912, his mother committed suicide
after several attempts. Magritte's father, Leopold, usually restrained her by locking her up in her
room so she couldn't harm herself, but one day she escaped and wasn't found days later. Her body
was found with her dress covering her face in the River Sambre. She had drowned. It is believed
that's the reason why Rene Magritte's paintings of 1927– 1928 had people with cloth distorting their
faces.
Rene Magritte's paintings of 1915 consisted of an Impressionistic style. In 1916–1918, Rene
enrolled in the Academie Royale des Beaux Arts in Brussels, but found the lessons dull and
uninspiring. His style changed into a futurism and cubism of Metzinger style. He married Georgette
Berger, a daughter of a butcher in Charleroi, and she became his model and muse. Although, there

Rhetorical Analysis Of Nigel Farage's Speech
Rhetorical Analysis of Nigel Farage's Speech
On June 28th 2016 Nigel Farage, leader of the UKIP, gave a speech in front of the European
Parliament in Brussels (Belgium). It was the first debate after Britain voted to leave the European
Union. His intervention was recorded and appeared on the most important news channels in the
world. For this paper, I am analyzing the transcription I created from a video published at Sky news
channel that same day. In this speech, the politician considers that the main reason why the citizens
of the United Kingdom have voted to leave the European Union is that they value self–
determination above all else and they felt that by being part of the European Union this right has
been taken out from them by politicians, such as the president of the European Commission Juncker,
who did not want the best for British, but they ignored the reality and the necessities of the country
for many years.
Nigel Farage led a campaign to take the UK out of the European Union for twenty years. His slogan
was: "I want my country back" (BBC News). Days before the election, Farage stated, "British could
not afford to risk staying in a political organization that is ready to admit Turkey and planning
deeper integration" (Express). He added, "we are just hours away from the opportunity of a lifetime:
the opportunity to get our country out of the European Union and in doing so get our borders back,
our democracy back and for us to embark upon an exciting future as an

Brussels Sprouts
What are your thoughts on Brussels sprouts? Do they taste delicious or bitter? Brussels sprouts
contain a chemical called Phenylthiocarbamide [PTC] which some people recognize as bitter tasting
and others cannot taste, influencing their opinion on the vegetable. The people who can identify the
bitterness are considered to be a taster and therefore most likely have the recessive gene TAS2R38.
However, there are five possible positions within the humans called a single nucleotide
polymorphism (SNP) and three of the five influence bitter taste. Which one are you? To answer this
question we went straight to the lab.

Though there are other ways that we could identify this particular trait, it was easier and more
beneficial to use a restriction enzyme as it allows us to examine the DNA for a specific sequence of
nucleotides, known as the restriction site. HaeIII cuts the PCR product into two fragments if the
tasting trait is present and leaves the PCR product uncut if the trait is not present. In order to do this,
two groups of amplified DNA are required, one labeled U (for undigested, meaning it didn't receive
HaeIII) and the other labeled as D (for digested, since it had HaeIII). The undigested group served as
the control group so it appeared uncut. We were able to compare this to the digested group which
served as the experimental group, which means that if a person has this gene, then the DNA
sequence will be cut either into two pieces, meaning they're homozygous, or three pieces, meaning
they're heterozygous. Before moving onto part four, the undigested group was iced and the digested
group was be briefly centrifuged, so that the solution could settle at the bottom of the tube. After
centrifuging the digested group, we placed it in a 37° C water bath for 30–60 minutes (30 being the
min. and 60 being the max.) After, the digested group was removed from the water bath and placed

Grimm's Biggest: A Short Story
Arriving in the vicinity of Koblenz at night was not ideal, our hotel was on the opposite river bank
which required us to take a commuter ferry. It was windy and the dark water appeared rough and
dangerous, I was nervously apprehensive, moreover, my little sister was too, we had never been on a
boat before. When the ferry pulled up to the dock, Noke drove the car right onto the flat deck and
assured us that we would get across the river safely. Underway, he invited us to step out of the car to
admire the vista of Koblenz, with its medieval castles and majestic fortresses illuminated on the
hillsides and the lights of the enchanting old town reflected in the water on the riverbank, it was a
scene out of Grimm's Fairytales Classics. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Officially a bi–lingual city, Brussels was historically a Dutch speaking city, nevertheless, from the
19th century onward, the language shifted and it is now predominantly French speaking, municipal
signs and community advertisements represent both languages. Anticipating our arrival at the Grand
Place historic center, with it's medieval square, Noke told us about the Manneken Pis (literal
translation: Little Man Urinating) statue. Naturally, Ellen and I chuckled as our uncle told us his
favorite of several legends behind the bronze cherub of the 15th century, who was awoken by a great
fire and put out the flames by urinating on them, thereby, saving the king's castle from burning
down, notwithstanding, true history discloses that Manneken Pis was designed as a fountain that
played an essential role in the distribution of drinking water for the city, however, two hundred years
later, the statue became more important as a survivor of the bombardment of Brussels in 1695.
Today, Manneken Pis stands as a precious image and beloved symbol of Brussels' folklore and it's
citizens sense of good humor. With such a rich history and grand reputation, we were surprised to
discover how small the bronze statue actually

Volleyball Tryout Essay
It was the day of volleyball tryouts. I was obviously pretty nervous as most should be, but it was
way more than that. But something about this current volleyball tryout felt good. Very good. It all
started the night before. I can not explain how many volleyball related Youtube videos I watched. I
even tried a whole week of just vegetables but I could not live with eating brussel sprouts for my
main dish. I ran 2 miles. Anything I did, it just did not seem like enough! The worst part was I
couldn't even sleep. Probably the most important thing of getting ready for tryouts tomorrow. In fact,
I tried something called green tea. I know what you're thinking,"Didn't work?" Nope! I just layed in

be intimidated, I was pretty taller than them. But they were better volleyball players than me that's
for sure! I was playing front row meaning I had to block the opponent's spikes. I was very scared
thinking I would do better back row. As we started, the balls were coming towards the back row. But
sadly my luck didn't last for long. A ball came right towards me. I wasn't expecting it but instead

Iodine Persuasive Essay
Even with a healthy, balanced diet and adequate iodine intake, there are some foods that can lessen
the absorption of iodine. Before we start the section off, let's have a little review. Here is a short list
of foods that are rich in iodine:
Because the human body is a balanced system, for everything you consume, there is one thing that
will lessen its health benefits. In this section, we'll have a look at the foods that may inhibit the body
from getting the iodine it needs. There are many reasons why these foods prevent your body from
getting the amounts of iodine you need. I'm not telling anyone not to eat any of the foods in this
section–many of them have great nutritional value. Through a balanced diet, your body can prevent
cancer and help treat or even fight off other medical conditions, and you'll have more energy and
overall health.

Here are some of the foods I would completely cross off your grocery list and cut out of your diet.
These foods will be discussed later in the book or have been already.
Gluten: For many people, gluten wouldn't come to mind when we talk about foods with goitrogens,
but gluten is not only linked to celiac disease. Gluten sensitivity has been found to go hand–in–hand
with autoimmune disorders, a very aggressive form of allergy, such as type 1 diabetes, Addison's
disease, Sjögren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and autoimmune thyroid disease. Many doctors
would tell their patients to consider excluding gluten from their diets, especially if they already have
an autoimmune disorder.
Soy: Soy is a food that contains isoflavones (estrogen mimickers) and it also contains goitrogenic
compounds. These compounds, just like thyroid hormones, accept iodine molecules from the thyroid
peroxidase (TPO). Some of the research studies state that genistein and isoflavones may block the
thyroid hormones for iodine and block the production of

The Garden
One of the most influential places in my life was my grandmothers' garden; the garden was on half
of an acre and was large by California standards. The majority of the houses had very little space for
a yard if there was even a yard at all. My grandma wanted a garden when they bought the house: so
my grandpa dug up all the sod in the backyard, to make a space for the garden. I learned a lot about
gardening from my grandma, also a lot of analogies could be made about the garden.
The garden was very beautiful although it had no flowers. I was always impressed that there were
never any weeds to be seen. The soil was very dark and very rich; it was also very sandy, which
meant it drained well. The garden also had a very nice path that was throughout the garden, around
every plant so it was easier to take care of, I am not sure who put the path in, my grandpa or my
uncle. My grandma also taught me what plants not to grow together, she found out that when two
squashes were planted together; they cross pollinated. She had pumpkins and yellow squash that she
grew together in the same place that cross pollinated. When she planted the seeds the next year that
she had saved from the previous year: she got a cross between a pumpkin and a yellow squash. I
also learned that I liked fresh from the garden young lima beans. Until I started going to my
grandparent's in California, I never liked lima beans. Lima beans have a very strong flavor,
sometimes they are bitter. Grandma told

Introduction:
The Belgian revolution began with a revolt in Brussels August 25, 1830 and subsequently made that
Belgium is independent in 1831 after the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte, Belgium was given to the
Dutch. But unification is not easy for several reasons. Economic and social policy that benefits to
all. The king wants to impose the Dutch language. Primary education is free and compulsory. But
Catholic teaching is removed. Economic Progress only benefit the rich. Unemployment is rising and
the situation of the peasants and workers is not improved. Belgians are disadvantaged, they are less

Greek Clothing Essay
Peplos, chitons, himations, and epi belmas, what do they all have in common? Well everyone is
wearing these sophisticated articles of clothing. Fashion is a universal language, but in Greece it is
our official language. In Greece, clothing is homemade from pieces of homespun fabric. Fabrics are
intensely colored and decorated with intricate designs. Clothing for women and men consists of two
main garments a peplos or chiton and a himation. The peplos is a large rectangle of heavy fabric,
usually wool, folded over along the upper edge so that the apoptygma reaches to the waist. It is
placed around the body and fastened at the shoulders with a pin or brooch. Armholes are made on
each side, and the open side of the garment is either left, pinned or sewn to form a seam. ... Show

It is a very long and wide rectangle of fabric sewn up at the sides, pinned or sewn at the shoulders,
and usually girded around the waist. Under either garment, a woman wears a soft band, known as a
strophion, around the midsection of the body. Men in Greece customarily wear a chiton similar to
the one worn by women, but knee–length or shorter. An exomis (a short chiton fastened on the left
shoulder) is typically worn for exercise, horse riding, or hard labor. The himation, which is worn by
both women and men, is essentially a rectangular piece of heavy fabric, either woolen or linen. It is
draped diagonally over one shoulder or symmetrically over both shoulders, like a stole. Women
sometimes wear an epiblema over the peplos or chiton. Young men often wear a chlamy for riding.
Greek men occasionally wear a broad–brimmed hat (petasos), and on rare occasions, Greek women
donn a flat–brimmed hat with a high peaked crown. Women and men wear sandals, slippers, soft
shoes, or boots, although at home they usually go barefoot. These popular new fashion trends have

Menu Analysis Memo
In analyzing the sales data of starters and salads over the course of the first few weeks of this
semester, our current menu items present room for adjustment. There are menu items that are
exemplary and require little to no additional adjustments. Such items might include the truffle fries
and Brussel sprouts. However, we must importantly consider the sheer number of items that need
considerable adjustments. Over half of our starters and salads consist of dogs. These items of low
contribution margin (CM) and popularity present an opportunity to generate additional profits. The
following memo outlines the analysis and strategic implementation we will need to take in order to
create a successful menu.

It's not only healthy from a caloric standpoint. Sea vegetables can also be utilized as a substitute for

The house salad is very similar to the soba noodle in terms of both CM and MM. As we continue to
approach winter headlong, it will prove beneficial to develop salads with root vegetables such as
roasted radishes (Rossman, USA Today).
Our most unpopular dish–the cube salad–also turns out to be amongst our highest in CM. This
puzzle can be solved in a few ways. Our menu design doesn't provide much in the way of effectively
repositioning the cube salad to increase visibility. We can move the cube salad to the top of the list
of the salad section of the menu. The guests at Establishment have been proven to be trustful of their
servers. We can encourage guests to purchase the cube salad by offering it as a special and having
our servers actively suggest starting the course with this salad (Kasavanna, Menu Engineering). Our
cobb salad may look intimidating to some of our guests. It may take a lot of effort for some
individuals to actually consume because of the large chunk of lettuce in the center of the plate. We
can make the salad more palatable by breaking down the lettuce and incorporating the ingredients of
a cobb salad more effectively. Guests will be more inclined to purchase based on a visuals
presentation as a result (Kasavanna, Menu Engineering).

The Policy Developments During The European Union ( Eu )...
In order to review the advantages and disadvantages of technocratic governance, this paper will be
drawing on the policy developments in the fields of GMO (Genetically Modified Organism)
regulation in the European Union (EU) and UK drug policies. The paper aims to review how policy
developments in these areas are approached technocraticaly and whether this approach is effective.
With regards to GMOs, the specific type of technocratic governance that this paper will look at is
comitology. This is the use of a committee of scientists, field experts and representatives of
European nation states making decisions based on expert opinions, regardless of what the evidence
and the data gathered shows, although, the European commission ultimately has the final say over
policies to be implemented across Europe. However, this might be out of necessity as the different
nation states generally cannot agree on GMO policies. This paper will also look at the UK drug
policies, and how experts are asked to report on their views on how to establish a less damaging
drug regime. The paper will argue that the current approach to drug use in the UK is an out–dated
and unrealistic form of regulation. To do this, it will look at statistical evidence of drug related
crimes or the risks in relation to some other activities that are legal, as per the research gathered by
the Home Office. This paper will look at both the benefits and the disadvantages of technocratic
governance in the context of the

The Hypothalamus, Amygdala, And The Hip Pour
When eating there are a several things happening. You have the reason you are eating, the
processing of the flavor, the movement of chewing and swallowing and the placement of the food in
your mouth. Different parts of the brain are active in the process of eating any type of food. What
you want to eat or why, is a combination between what you know and your energy expenditure. The
hypothalamus, amygdala, and the hippocampus all play their part. The hypothalamus is going to
play a factor when it comes to how hungry you are. This is because this part of the brain is
responsible for determining you energy expenditure and creating homeostasis. The latter part of the

Sugar Digestion Lab Report
The normal process of digestion of sugar in the body: 1. After the sugar gets to the stomach, it is
broken down into pieces due to the stomach acid. 2. The stomach empties the sugar into your
intestines where it becomes monosaccharide. 3. Most sugar digestion happens in the intestines.
Intestinal enzymes complete the sugar breakdown and then it is absorbed into the bloodstream,
providing us with energy. Before watching the video, I had dinner. I got chicken breast, marinated

Criteria For A Deliberative Process And Eu Integration
3.0 Operationalisation
In this section, the aim is to clarify the operationalisation of the concepts 'prerequisites for a
deliberative process' and 'EU integration'.
3.1 Response variable: EU integration
EU integration is operationalised as trust in the European Parliament (EP). As pointed out in Section
XX, the level of trust in EU institutions function as a proxy for the level of identification with EU as
a political project. The exact wording of the question is:
Using this card, please tell me on a score of 0–10 how much you personally trust each of the
institutions I read out. 0 means you do not trust an institution at all, and 10 means you have
complete trust [...] The European Parliament? (European Social Survey, 2014, p. 4)
The measurement of trust in the EP is on an 11–point scale, treated as continuous in the analysis.
Even though the EP is just a small part of the EU itself, recent trends in the Eurobarometer survey
(European Commission, 2014) shows some degree of correlation between trust in the EP and the EU
itself, as shown in Figure XX. Figure XX: (Source: European Commission, 2014)
Trust in the EP is higher than in the European Commission (EC), the European Central Bank (ECB)
and the EU itself. However, it is possible to identify an overall (downwards) trend, with a few
exceptions (spring 2007 and January/February 2009 as the most conspicuous). Arnold et al., (2012)
points out how trust in the European institutions has become a key indicator of the legitimacy

Cleaver Family Sociology

  • 1. Cleaver Family Sociology To begin with, a main point that has changed has to be social customs. For instance, in Leave it to Beaver, during the episode named "Beaver wont Eat," the Cleaver family was struggling in getting their youngest son to eat his vegetables. To discuss this, the mother and father stepped out of the room and entered the kitchen to solve the problem. They argued to find a solution and also were peeking on Beaver through the door to see his progress with his brussel sprouts. This shows that the parents do not want to fight in front of their children. The parents privately exit the room when there is a dilemma. This is because most likely don't want to show that their mother and father are arguing since they want to be that perfect nuclear family. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Brussel Sprouts: A Short Story Brussel sprouts. Tomatoes. Carrots. Spinach. Mushrooms. These are all common foods that make kids' taste buds scream out of disgust. Unless you're a person who loves every food, but that's not the point. For the kids that are picky eaters... Some kids would throw a tantrum. Others would refuse to eat. The rest, however, would eventually just eat them. My parents know very well that you couldn't afford to be picky 'back in the old days.' Haven't all kids rolled their eyes at that phrase? I was a very, very, very picky eater throughout my childhood. If there was a dish I didn't like, my mom would give me some roasted seaweed to roll up my rice to make plain sushi (as I like to call it), and there goes another meal for another day. One ... After comparing my own dad's story to mine, I don't want to forget the hard work and labor that goes into producing the food even though there is more of it now. Now that I think about it... Even my mom spends 30 minutes to an hour cooking every day. After learning how

My parents have the right to not be content with me for not wanting to eat that pumpkin dish that day. Almost everything I touch, someone, somewhere, had made it possible to this point. I should definitely be more appreciative. • 12. Beatrice And Character Foil In Much Ado About Nothing What's better than ice cream? Its creamy, sweet, and melts on your tongue. Brussel sprouts on the other hand are bitter and unappealing. When compared to brussel sprouts, ice cream tastes a whole lot better. These two foods foil, or contrast, each other and highlight their own characteristics. In Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, Beatrice and Hero foil each other. Unlike many character foils where one character is clearly villanos and the other heroic, Beatrice and Hero's moralities aren't opposite, but rather their personalities. Where Hero is polite, quiet, innocent, and passive, Beatrice is independent, witty, outspoken, and cynical. These differences in their personalities help highlight their traits and make the play more enjoyable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Beatrice speaks out against Benedick, Leonato and Antonio(Leonato's brother) they say "By being too curst, God will send you no horns"(Shakespeare 2.1.25–24). However, Beatrice's views on love are cynical, and she doesn't want to be burdened with marriage(Shakespeare 2.1.57–64). Beatrice is very independent. If she were to marry, she would have to take on the typical domestic women role while her husband rules over her. On the other hand, Hero doesn't share these views on marriage. Hero finds Claudio attractive, and when she learns he intends to marry her, she is fine with it. Hero also strives to please her father. This dynamic marriage between her and the reputable Claudio would enhance the family name, so it's a win for her father and for her. This is based solely on the fact that he is attractive since she doesn't really know him. Beatrice on the other hand encourages Hero to say "Father as it pleases me"(Shakespeare 2.1.53–56) and make some decisions for herself. It is interesting to note that Hero says her heart is "exceedingly heavy" (Shakespeare 3.4.24–25) before the wedding, alluding to the fact that she is not entirely happy with this sudden marriage. However, this can also be interpreted as pre–wedding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Short Story : ' Eureka, Breakfast ! ' "Eureka, breakfast!" I was sitting at my desk, writing down my recent nightmare in my newly brought diary. My third this year. I was hoping that as I grew up and learnt more about the real world, my dreams would become nothing more than innocent little fantasies about butterfly's and unicorns. Except ever since that first dream, 14 years ago, they had gotten worse. Not that watching your own dad die wasn't bad, considering I think I'm the one that killed him, but they got more detailed. Less vivid and more real everything was a lot clearer, I could feel, see and smell everything around me. It was so bad sometimes I thought I'd never wake up. "Be there in a second mum!" I called back. I really needed to shake off this dream. I could still hear the screams of people at the young village as their homes were torched; their families were herded like sheep and then lined up for their inevitable execution. Even the scent of burnt wood and straw still dared to linger in her nostrils. Tucking her journal back on her bookshelf between her copy of the bible and her Ouija board, two conflicting spiritual beliefs, but as long as the dreams occurred she needed all of the help she could get. However, artists such as Rene Magritte want nothing more than to make people question what is behind a layer of painting and question each individual design for what it is and seek what cannot be seen. Painter's typically use colors to not only detail a painting, but express emotions through the gentle strokes of color. For example, bold colors often highlight what portions of the painting are meant to be the most significant to the viewer. In The Lovers II and The Lovers I each background in filled with light hues of blue, green, and red. Always, the central idea has been focused on the lovers, the only objects in the painting that provides varying arrays of color. In the art world, there is a wide spectrum of colors with an even larger spectrum of meaning. Blue for instance is a cool color commonly associated with the sky, sea, and bedroom. The color depicts a lack of stress and tranquility. Red on the other hand is seen as a hot color. Associated with both love and war, red can have varying meanings from cupid's love to the Devil's havoc. The marker refers to my 'input' being "all over the place", suggesting a lack of organisation and comprehensive structure to my argumentation which is also insinuated by the recommendation to 'label' points more explicitly. Consequently, it became difficult to develop a compelling argument, neglecting my discussion to a series of statements with little elaboration alongside those points. Moreover, by suggesting to 'label' to allow the flow of the argument , I believe the marker is suggesting the use of signposting and seemingly highlights a substantial omission – the lack of development in my ... Consequently, I could use quotations from the text to provide some context, whilst then permitting me to elaborate an argument from that quotation. My argument would then be fully integrated into the essay, and could accordingly be expanded upon further. Leading on from this change, this would likewise make it easier to rectify my second sizeable error and expand upon my counter–points, as opposed to simply offering rebuttals which are not wholly explained. I would instead then be able to emphasise the evaluation section as opposed to my overly conflated outline section. By sub–dividing my work into paragraphs, I should be able to isolate select argumentation points much more unambiguously without, as the marker describes, "getting somewhat lost." This should prevent my work from appearing as "one lump of text" and make it clearer to read, allowing my thoughts to be expressed clearly. Lastly, I shall attempt to be additionally explicit in my counter–points and pinpoint specifically why the point is pertinent to the discussion, making a conscious effort to avoid making the false supposition that the purpose to the assertion can be simply inferred– for example, stating why a democratic deficit is an issue for the EU. When Memories And Events Become Institutionalized In A When memories and events become institutionalized in a museum setting, they become the lens through which present and future generations gaze into past. National museums promote local history and identity, but what about multinational museums and multinational identity? This is the question the European Union hopes to address with their sanctioning of the House of European History (HEH). The main goal of the HEH is to create a collection of permanent and temporary exhibitions to invite people into a space where "the concept of the European idea can continue to grow" and "the knowledge and dissemination of the culture and history of the European peoples" can be improved (Committee of Experts, 2008, p.5). In the very first point, it is outlined that the museum should be a "place where a memory of European history and the work of European unification is jointly cultivated" (Committee of Experts, 2008, p.3). Some of the main themes that the museum is supposed to represent include the diversity of history and a commonality of roots, peace, liberty, and a willingness to live together, as well as the idea of progress and keeping the idea of Europe alive. In the second section, it talks about the academic goals of the museum and the way it should be set up in order to be accessible to a variety of people, such as free admission and explanatory texts in multiple languages (twenty–four to be precise) (Committee of Experts, 2008). The HEH is meant to be an independent institution that provides education to the young people of Europe in order for them to become active citizens in shaping the EU's future. Points 27– 112 explain the central topics of the exhibitions that will be in the museum, but do not go into detail regarding the artifacts and objects they will represent these topics with. There are times where I think the word 'weird' is a completely accurate description of me, but then there are times it's not even close to describing me. The people who call me 'weird' use it as an insult and try to put me down. These people forget that being 'normal' is not exactly a good thing either. • 36. Company Analysis : Rivella Ag Essay Rivella AG is a Swiss company founded by Dr Robert Bath along the Lake Zürich in 1951. The idea of Barth was to create a healthy and natural beverage made from milk serum. The name "Rivella" comes from the Italian word "rivelazione", wich mean revelation. Only six years after the creation of Rivella, the Swiss pioneer creates "Rivella Blue" the Europe's first low–calorie beverage. Dr Robert focused on the twin themes Switzerland and Health for the identity of his brand .The company is sponsoring a lot of sports events in Switzerland. (Rivella AG, 2014). Nowadays, the owners of the company are still from the Robert Bath's family. Although it is the second Swiss soft drink producer with 9 litters per capita per year in Switzerland and with a growing net sales earning of 139.8 millions CHF in 2013, Erland Brüger, CEO of the Rivella's group, sees the company as a medium family enterprise (Uniéco, 2014). More than 75 % of Rivella's sales are made in its domestic market but the foreign markets increased a lot this two past years (+8.8% in 2012 and +6,7% in 2013) (Rivella AG, 2014). Despite the fact that Rivella has a strong Swiss identity, it was already an international company at the early stage of its growth. "Rivella Blue" has been sold in Netherland since 1957 and Netherland is still the biggest foreign market of the company. (Psalm 34:8 NIV) It's funny the things that imprint on our brain, as opposed to the things that don't. You would think that the important stuff would stick in our heads and the unimportant stuff would not. Yet it seems to be the exact opposite. For instance I can't remember a single thing, not a single thing from my High School Algebra class. But I can tell you I saw Chris Hammond of the Reds pick up a win against Dwight Gooden in 1992. Then again, perhaps sit just we designate what we think is important nad that's what we remember. Regardless I do I know I remember very little to nothing from High School geometry ( are you sensing the theme here) but I vividly remember a poster that was in the cafeteria behind the "lunch ladies" when I was in kindergarten. It was a poster of a tiger made up of different food groups. The feet were triangles of cheese, the tail was made up of sausage links, you get the idea. Emblazoned over the "food tiger" were these words, you are what you eat. You are what you eat. Of course it was a meant to be a reminder to eat healthy. If you eat healthy, you will be healthy. Which probably make sense too an adult. But a five year old sees that poster in a very different way. What do you mean you are what you eat?Does that mean I'll turn into one of the foods I eat? Grandpa Greene's Whitewashed Bungalow Three weeks after we had settled into Grandpa Greene's whitewashed bungalow mom and I were sitting at the dinner table, next to two empty chairs when the telephone rang in the middle of franks, macaroni and cheese, and my least favorite Brussels sprouts. As mom rose to answer, I seized the opportunity to heap some macaroni and cheese on top of the lopsided pile of Brussels sprouts. I was smiling to myself at the clever way I'd camouflaged the sprouts when mom let the phone fall with a clattering clang and a single sob–absolutely devastated. She sank to the floor, still dressed in her work scrubs–a yellow and green bunny printed top and purple pants she'd worn to the hospital where she treated sick kids. "As he handed Miss Bilbo a crate full of apples he tripped, performing a sideways summersault and a flawless double back flip, all three skillfully executed mind you, except he didn't land on his feet. The Trade Dispute And The European Union Industry This trade dispute initially began on July 25th, 2012 when EU Pro Sun, a joint initiative of members of the EU solar industry, filled a complaint to the European Commission that solar panels and various components where being sold in the European marketplace at a value lower than market value. It was the biggest anti–dumping complaint to the European Union in history with the total value of currently imported solar panels was around 2 billion euros. The European Commission is mandated to investigate cases that are proven to be a valid complaint from the Union Industry. Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain, and Cyprus all had defaulted on their debts and were unable to refinance them. The European Union had to consider what would provide the greatest benefit to all members of the Union, and how implementing anti–dumping and anti–subsidy laws would make it even more expensive for solar panels in the European Union. Secondly, China currently accounted for around 65% of the world production of solar panels. Due to this it gave them competitive advantage and the benefit of economies of scale. Due to the ability to sell Chinese solar panels at a lower cost in the European Union it caused around 40 EU producers to declare insolvency, 6 EU producers to stop production (some partially), and 2 EU producers to quit solar business between 2009 and 2012 (Memo/13/497). If something was not to quickly be done about the dumping of Chinese solar panels thousands of jobs would be lost within the European Union and EU producers of solar panels market share would drastically drop, considering it was already at a minimal 19% Union market share. Rene Magritte was a surrealist artist and he was known for his witty and thought–provoking images, and for painting objects in unusual context, and the challenging the perception reality. His Surrealism inspired and influenced pop culture, minimalist and conceptual art. Hardly enough is known about Magritte's early life. March 12, 1912, his mother committed suicide after several attempts. Magritte's father, Leopold, usually restrained her by locking her up in her room so she couldn't harm herself, but one day she escaped and wasn't found days later. Her body was found with her dress covering her face in the River Sambre. She had drowned. It is believed that's the reason why Rene Magritte's paintings of 1927– 1928 had people with cloth distorting their faces. Rene Magritte's paintings of 1915 consisted of an Impressionistic style. In 1916–1918, Rene enrolled in the Academie Royale des Beaux Arts in Brussels, but found the lessons dull and uninspiring. His style changed into a futurism and cubism of Metzinger style. Rhetorical Analysis Of Nigel Farage's Speech Rhetorical Analysis of Nigel Farage's Speech On June 28th 2016 Nigel Farage, leader of the UKIP, gave a speech in front of the European Parliament in Brussels (Belgium). It was the first debate after Britain voted to leave the European Union. His intervention was recorded and appeared on the most important news channels in the world. For this paper, I am analyzing the transcription I created from a video published at Sky news channel that same day. In this speech, the politician considers that the main reason why the citizens of the United Kingdom have voted to leave the European Union is that they value self– determination above all else and they felt that by being part of the European Union this right has been taken out from them by politicians, such as the president of the European Commission Juncker, who did not want the best for British, but they ignored the reality and the necessities of the country for many years. Nigel Farage led a campaign to take the UK out of the European Union for twenty years. His slogan was: "I want my country back" (BBC News). Days before the election, Farage stated, "British could not afford to risk staying in a political organization that is ready to admit Turkey and planning deeper integration" (Express). He added, "we are just hours away from the opportunity of a lifetime: the opportunity to get our country out of the European Union and in doing so get our borders back, our democracy back and for us to embark upon an exciting future as an ... Though there are other ways that we could identify this particular trait, it was easier and more beneficial to use a restriction enzyme as it allows us to examine the DNA for a specific sequence of nucleotides, known as the restriction site. HaeIII cuts the PCR product into two fragments if the tasting trait is present and leaves the PCR product uncut if the trait is not present. In order to do this, two groups of amplified DNA are required, one labeled U (for undigested, meaning it didn't receive HaeIII) and the other labeled as D (for digested, since it had HaeIII). The undigested group served as the control group so it appeared uncut. We were able to compare this to the digested group which served as the experimental group, which means that if a person has this gene, then the DNA sequence will be cut either into two pieces, meaning they're homozygous, or three pieces, meaning they're heterozygous. The paper aims to review how policy developments in these areas are approached technocraticaly and whether this approach is effective. With regards to GMOs, the specific type of technocratic governance that this paper will look at is comitology.
