Curriculum 21: Upgrading Curriculum and Assessment for the 21st Century Learner
What year are you preparing your learners for? Schools are launching pads into the future, thus as educators we
need to consider whether we are genuinely preparing our students for a changing world.
Dr. Jacobs will share her model for upgrading the curriculum for classes K–12. She will walk through a step-by-
step approach to make strategic revisions in your classroom. You will examine specific replacements for content,
skills, and assessments to be implemented gradually and realistically. Current interdisciplinary focus areas such
as sustainability, media literacy, and globalization will be included, as well as how to modernize each discipline
area. The presentation is based on her best-selling book: Curriculum 21: Essential Education for a Changing
World (ASCD).
